Data socket buffer overflow detection

Hello,
I plan to use data socket to access SharedVariables. I started with the example Buffering.vi from the Shared_Variable_Buffering.lvproj shipped with LabVIEW 2009 SP1 (DSC-Module).
This example leads to a read buffer overflow caused by the high speed write loop and low speed read loops. The interesting part is, that reading the SharedVariable values using a SharedVariable-Node delivers a warning for that buffer overflow situation. But, the DataSocket-Read doesn't deliver any warning or error and I didn't find a way to detect the overflow. Does someone know how to get this done?

thank you for your reply.
It took a while, but today I checked out the Variable Client - Server.lvproj example shipped with the newest LabVIEW. And I was surprised to find even another possibility to interact with Shared-Variables: the new VI's contained in the DataComunication/SharedVariables palette (used by the Variable Refnum API Client.vi in the example).
And with the DSC-Module, another possibility is available: the also new VI's contained in the DSC Module/Tags palette (try the DSC Tag API.lvproj example, but don't forget to manually deploy the libs before starting the VI's).
So, plenty of possibilities available. It will take some time to realize the advantages (or disadvantages) of each one, especially for the new VI's.
Let's see what possibilities we gain with LabVIEW 2010...

They are two different names. 'qmc2' is not the same name as '.qmc2'. Just as the strings 'padremayi' and 'apadremayi' are not the same strings.
This command would find both 'qmc2' and '.qmc2':

The escapes, or backslashes, and the spaces separating punctuation from the other characters are needed in that command.

[SOLVED] Firefox and OpenJDK give buffer overflow

I hope I am posting this on the right forum. I am having some problems on sites with Java when opening them using Firefox 14.0.1 and the OpenJDK plugin.
Whenever I open a site that has any kind of java (even the simple applet tutorial given on oracle website) I get a buffer overflow error. If I switch to Sun JDK (well Oracle? whatever...) everything works perfectly. Opera with OpenJDK works perfectly as well.

It's not a very big issue for me, it takes a split second to switch between OpenJDK and Sun but if I happen to forget, things go pear shaped. Anyone else having this issue? I remember something like that, if I am not mistaken, happening with Firefox 3.5 but that has been fixed long ago.

SQL Error Data Flow Task 1: The buffer manager detected that the system was low on virtual memory...

I'm relatively new to SQL and this is the error that appeared when I tried importing my data. Not sure how to deal with this. Help please. Thanks a lot!
Information 0x4004800c: Data Flow Task 1: The buffer manager detected that the system was low on virtual memory, but was unable to swap out any buffers. 14 buffers were considered and 14 were locked. Either not enough memory is available to the pipeline
because not enough is installed, other processes are using it, or too many buffers are locked.

Either reduce the amount of data e.g. by lowering the Data Flow Task records max per batch and buffer size
or install more RAM, or process on a more capable computer.

There are two common buffer overflow and overwrite errors.
Overflow error -10845 occurs when the NI-DAQ driver cannot read data from the DAQ device's FIFO buffer fast enough to keep up with the acquired data as it flows to the buffer (i.e., the FIFO buffer overflows before all the original data can be read from it). This is usually due to limitations of your computer system, most commonly the result of slow processor speeds (< 200 MHz) in conjunction with PCMCIA DAQ boards, which have small FIFO buffers (e.g., the DAQCard-500). Sometimes using a DAQCard with a larger FIFO can solve the problem, but a better solution is to lower the acquisition rate or move to a faster system. Another cause of the -10845 error could be due to an interrupt-driven
acquisition. For example, PCMCIA bus does not support Direct Memory Access (DMA). If the system is tied up processing another interrupt (like performing a screen refresh or responding to a mouse movement) when it is time to move data from the board, then that data may get overwritten.
Overwrite error -10846 occurs when the data in the software buffer that you created for an analog input operation gets overwritten by new data before you can retrieve the existing data from the buffer. This problem can be solved by adjusting the parameters of your data acquisition, such as the lowering the scan rate, increasing the buffer size, and/or increasing the number of scans to read from the buffer on each buffer read. Additionally, performing less processing in the loop can help avoid the -10846 error.

Ive read a lot that java eliminates Buffer overflow problems. Could some one please elaborate how this is done.
Also if i were to limit the send and receive buffer sizes for a given socket by setting them to a small size and then send a String value over the socket with a larger byte size wouldn't that cause a buffer overflow ?

How to check udp buffer overflow in solaris10

Hello All,
We have developped a C++ application which uses connection based udp socket for transfering the data between two solaris10 machines. The data transfer takesplace for every 20 min and continues for about 1 min. The total no of udp sockets i am using is more than 1200. During the time of socket creation i don't set the send and receive buffer size, so the default parameter configured in the system will be considered.
In certain cases the receiving end application does not receive any data, but the sender continues sending the data, this i could see from the snoop. Also the write operation doesn't fail in the sender side.
From the snoop command i could see the time interval between the packets sent is 30microseconds. So there could be possibility that udp buffer may overflow.
Does anybody know the solaris system command to find the udp buffer overflow?.

Spool file error - Buffer Overflow

I've a sql script that is running from a.sql file. The script fetches almost 9 million data as a result of the query. Main problem is related to spool file generation. It is saying buffer overflow. But, when i write that query from sql prompts it is running within 2 mins and completes the task within 15 mins.
I've written -
set serveroutput on size ######
But, still it is not working. Total application is freeze whenever i want to run it. Tell me any suggestion if u have.

i guess what you are more concerned with is the output produced by your query (the spool file).
you need not to see what is displayed on the screen all you need is open up the spool file to
check for those data in there.
to suppress the output from the screen and still generates spool file. use the SET TERMOUT option.
e.g.

Quicktime problem "buffer overrun detected!"???

sorry if thas has been posted a billion times recently, but i seriously am not that good with computers and can't seem to find a place for help with this. was hoping you guys here could at least point me in the right direction. Also, like i just said, I am not very handy when it comes to computers, so try to keep it plain and simple...
with that being said, I have encountered this problem with quicktime recently, which in turn has caused itunes to not work either. i've tried searching for a fix for days now and have been unsecessful finding anything so far. I heard it has something to do with the new quicktime update not cooperating with some service pack update... im not sure
I tried to delete quicktime but couldn't, now when i try to open quicktime... I get an error message reading :

I had the exact problem, after I tried updating to the latest version of itune. Now my itune don't work. There are no graphics and no sound. When I open Quicktime it has the exact message "buffer overrun detected...The program cannot safely continue execution and must be terminated."
I tried removing the quicktime program, restoring the computer to earlier dates, disabling my antivirus program first and downloading itunes on a disc and then updating the program. Nothing Works! I talked to a guy at apple support who said he's not allowed to help me since "quicktime is a free program" then referred me to article "302538" which says to disable some items using the System configuration Utility (msconfig) in windows XP. Tried it and it doesn't work either.
Since this problem is happening to so many people, something is obviously wrong with the itune and quicktime program which is mandatory for my recently purchased $300 Ipod. I've already wasted countless hours trying to resolve this problem with very little support from Apple. Apple needs to address and fix this problem.
Please let me know how to resolve this problem! Thank you!

Tiger to Snow Leopard upgrade fails with buffer overflow

I'm not sure where to proceed with the following situation:
I have a 17" MB pro with 1GB memory and 22GB free hard drive space. I booted into the installer from the CD and stepped through the prompts without changing any options to the point where the install starts doing it's magic. Shortly after starting, the install will crash complaining about a buffer overflow during/just after the part where it's finding system files.
I originally tried to do this with only 10GB free, but after the first failure, I did a repair disk using the Disk Utility and removed a bunch of really old files I no longer needed, which brought the available disk space to 22GB, but this did not help anything. At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I use Carbon Copy Cloner as a backup so I can do a full wipe and install, however I would prefer to avoid that as it is a lot of work to get things back.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

It's been read forwards, backwards, and upside down. Nowhere on the packaging is there any identification of the $29 (or $49 family pack) version as only suitable as a "Leopard upgrade" version. There are vague mentions about it on Apple's online sales page and in press releases. There are plenty of reports that it installs over Tiger just fine.

However - imagine someone who vaguely heard about it, walked into a store and bought a copy, thoroughly looked over the box and the license terms (within the disc), and installed it in good faith over Tiger. There is ZERO, ZIP, NADA on the package that would lead anyone to believe it is anything but a copy with a "SINGLE USER" license where the terms don't preclude installing over Tiger.
C. Leopard Upgrade Licenses. If you have purchased an Upgrade for Mac OS X Leopard license, then subject to the terms and conditions of this License, you are granted a limited non-exclusive license to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer as long as that computer has a properly licensed copy of *Mac OS X Leopard already installed on it.*

While this may not be enforced by a software key, it is there in the license agreement on the PDF included on the CD, when you purchase the under $100 licenses, which are also called "Upgrade" on the store.
There's an opinion that "Leopard upgrade" only applies to the "Up To Date" versions that require proof of purchase of a recent Mac computer. The reports on those installer discs are that they do in fact check for a valid Leopard installation.

Short dump in SAP R/3: SQL statement buffer overflow?

I hope someone can help us with the following problem:
A short dump in SAP R/3 (DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL, CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB)
occurred during a delta load, which worked fine for several month.
The custom code crashes at a FETCH NEXT CURSOR statement.
I assume, it might be a SQL statement buffer overflow in SAP R/3?
The problem can be reproduced by RSA3, and is therefore not time-dependent.
The problem did not occur before or on the quality assurance system.
Cursor code:
      Read all entries since last transfer (delta mechanism)
        OPEN CURSOR WITH HOLD s_cursor FOR
          SELECT * FROM ekko
            WHERE ebeln IN t_selopt_ekko.
t_selopt_ekko has up to 60.000 data sets, which worked fine in the past.
It is very likely that the amount of data during the first crash did not exceed this.
SQL-Trace of RSA3 call:
It seems that 25150 data set can be processed via fetch before the short dump occurs
After that object SNAP is written:

Basis says, that the Oracle data base works fine. The problem seems to be a SAP R/3 buffer.

Just check it out in code after FETCH NEXT CURSOR what internal table you have mention.
that internal table shoul deffined by taking refrence of ekko, because your code is
OPEN CURSOR WITH HOLD s_cursor FOR
SELECT * FROM ekko
WHERE ebeln IN t_selopt_ekko.

Data load buffer [1] does not exist error when loading cube

I'm trying to load data using Essbase Studio. Everything was working fine, the load used to occur very quickly.
After updating the SQL query to load a larger period ( 5 years instead of 2 ), the load fails after exactly 10 minutes ! I'm wondering if there's a timeout configuration or something similar in Essbase because I have other cubes that has large queries that are stopping after exactly 10 minutes.
The environment is:
Essbase 11.1.2.1 on Linux 64 bits
Data source: Oracle 10r2 database

I have a code to read the text file in jsp, the problem i am facing is of buffer overflow as the text file contains more than 2000 records and when i upload data to database it throws exception of buffer overflow, any help will be appriciated.

P.S. A JSP should, obviously, do nothing but produce HTML, which is what it is meant for after all. Any other actions should, of course, be handled be external classes and uploads and other "like" actions should be done by servlets, again, of course. You do know this, right? You do know that scriptlets in a JSP are 1) just plain wrong, and 2) a maintainance nightmare, right? (among other things that are just plain wrong with this "plan".

2 Microphones. Buffer overflow.

I'm getting a buffer overflow error while acquiring data from 2 microphones.
I'm sampling at 22050 S/s with 5000 S/ch.
Within a second I get the error,
"Error 4823 occurred at Sound Input Read (DBL).vi->New.vi
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: (Hex 0x12D7) You cannot perform this operation without an active task. Ensure that a task is active and try again. An input task might stop running if the input buffer overflows. Overflow occurs when the data is not read fast enough."
Is there something I can do to fix this? I tried playing with the S/ch and S/s values but couldn't fix the problem. I would think this will become a bigger problem when I try more than 2 microphones. I searched online for a solution to this problem but couldn't find anything that worked for me.

ADL buffer overflow crash when loading external module

Flex SDK version: 3.5
Flash Builder version: 4.5
OS: Vista 64bit
I have a project that uses various external Flex modules at runtime.
With Flash Builder 4, the Debug Launcher runs fine when compiling on a Windows XP box. The app behaves correctly, no crash.
When debugging the same project on a Vista 64bit using Flash Builder 4.5, all seems fine until I load an external module. At that point, the adl.exe process crashes with the following report:
