Data Synchonizer and Palm Device

Alright, I guess Data Synchonizer is a joke? I installed the complete Novell Data Synchonizer and it all looks really slick. Web pages are nice, etc. But, how do I get a Palm TX to sync with it? Used to work perfectly with Groupwise Mobility Server. This new product gives no information whatsoever (that I can find) for users to actually sync anything with it. ... I sure I'm missing something. I better be, because it took 4 hours to set up a server.

Not according to all the people who have successfully deployed it in
their environments.

You need a copy of VersaMail which has ActiveSync support.

The difference is that Intellisync provided their own client for all
devices supported by GMS. With Mobility, and the same holds true for
MS Exchange, the ActiveSync client is up to the device manufacturer.

  • Palm Desktop ATE MY CALENDAR AGAIN!!!! I CAN'T Connect to ANY Of my DATA! And I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO POST THIS

While opening palm desktop I got the dreaded "Error failed to open Date Book database" and my ENTIRE datebook was EATEN AGAIN...
Shame on me for depending on this flakey software to keep track of my entire G*dd*mn life but there it is...
I WAS still running 4.2.  I've tried uninstalling 4.2 and installing 6.2 under the (obviously) mistaken assumption that there's a way to fix the corrupt datebook database in 6.2.
Now I can't even access any of my other data like ALL OF MY ADDRESSES AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS, ALSO (SILLY ME!!!) entrusted to this flakey POS software....
because now I cannot find any way in the menus or imports or WHATEVER in 6.2 to connect the program to my old profile...
Does anyone know of any 3rd party software that can retrieve my data from the old databases?  (That would be my first preference -- GET MY INFORMATION and then deep six this sucker!)...
Is there a CLUE anywhere in any documentation about how I can reconnect my GOOD data with 6.2???

This happens probably because of 2 existing palm desktop data. Older version of PDS will store the user data under c:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One on the other hand PDS 6.2 will store the User Data under My Documents\PalmOS Desktop.
Given that you have all the updated data on your phone, Uninstall Palm Desktop , and make sure you remove all other folders for previous PDS. (rename palm folders under program files and palm os desktop under mydocuments). Once everything has been removed, install fresh installation of PDS, sync your device and just make sure you set the sync method to Handheld overwrites Desktop.

My iPhone, iPad and iPod are all associated with the same Apple ID.  How can I remove the iPod and associate it with a new Apple ID without affecting the data on the other devices (note: there is no data on the iPod I want to keep)?

Very simple.  Turn off Find my iDevice, then  Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

  • I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build.  The same call works fine when running on the device

I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build. The same call works fine when running on the device (iPhone) using debug build. When running with a release build, the result handler is never called (nor is the fault handler called). Viewing the BlazeDS logs in debug mode, the call is received and send back with data. I've narrowed it down to what seems to be a data size issue.
I have targeted one specific data call that returns in the String value a string length of 44kb, which fails in the release build (result or fault handler never called), but the result handler is called as expected in debug build. When I do not populate the String value (in server side Java code) on the object (just set it empty string), the result handler is then called, and the object is returned (release build).
The custom object being returned in the call is a very a simple object, with getters/setters for simple types boolean, int, String, and one org.23c.dom.Document type. This same object type is used on other other RemoteObject calls (different data) and works fine (release and debug builds). I originally was returning as a Document, but, just to make sure this wasn't the problem, changed the value to be returned to a String, just to rule out XML/Dom issues in serialization.
I don't understand 1) why the release build vs. debug build behavior is different for a RemoteObject call, 2) why the calls work in debug build when sending over a somewhat large (but, not unreasonable) amount of data in a String object, but not in release build.
I have't tried to find out exactly where the failure point in size is, but, not sure that's even relevant, since 44kb isn't an unreasonable size to expect.
By turning on the Debug mode in BlazeDS, I can see the object and it's attributes being serialized and everything looks good there. The calls are received and processed appropriately in BlazeDS for both debug and release build testing.
Anyone have an idea on other things to try to debug/resolve this?
Platform testing is BlazeDS 4, Flashbuilder 4.7, Websphere 8 server, iPhone (iOS 7.1.2). Tried using multiple Flex SDK's 4.12 to the latest 4.13, with no change in behavior.
    Thanks!

After a week's worth of debugging, I found the issue.
The Java type returned from the call was defined as ArrayList.  Changing it to List resolved the problem.
I'm not sure why ArrayList isn't a valid return type, I've been looking at the Adobe docs, and still can't see why this isn't valid.  And, why it works in Debug mode and not in Release build is even stranger.  Maybe someone can shed some light on the logic here to me.

The key to what you seem to want to do is to be able to get Apple's Time Capsule router to "join" the network that your Conceptronic router.  I believe that works with some third-party routers, but I've never seen a list of those that work in such a configuration and I have no experience with Conceptronic equipment.
You might be better off with a Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device instead of a Time Capsule.

  • How to export Date book and Address book from Palm Desktop to Apple iCal and Address Book?

I have my calendar information and addresses stored in Palm Desktop date book and address book, respectively. I am running Palm Desktop 4.2.1. Everytime I try to export the date book or address book to my desktop using the vCal format, the Palm desktop crashes. My goal is to export all my data from Palm Desktop to iCal and Address Book on the Apple OS (10.6.1). Does anyone have any advice as to how I can do this or do I just have to start from scratch and manually enter the data from Palm Desktop to Apple iCal and Address Book? I looked at the Missing Sync software, but I don't think this will do the trick. The Genius Bar at the Apple Store didn't offer any solutions either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello tay8000m and welcome to the Palm forums.
Have you tried running the "Repair Disk Permissions" command in Apple's Disk Utility application yet?  Launch Disk Utility, select "Macintosh HD" from the left side of the window, and then click the "Repair Disk Permissions" button.
After the utility has run, try launching Palm Desktop again and then exporting your data as vCard or iCal files.  If the exports aren't working for you, you can always export the data as comma separated values (.csv) file and then import that into the Apple apps you want to use.

Do you have windows mobile device center installed(WMDC)? If not download it from here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
Be sure you download the correct version for your PC. If you have 32bit OS or 64bit OS. To find this out, right click on Computer under start and select properties. Near the middle it should say 32bit or 64bit. If you know you have the correct software. Open up the control panel and go to sync settings. Right click on the partnership you have setup and select delete. On your device go to Start-->Programs-->Activesync-->Menu-->Options tap on Windows PC and select Delete. Then once both are done resetup your partnership. But this time uncheck everything. Then once it is done syncing. Go to Mobile device settings and change content sync settings and select Contact. Click save and let it sync. Do the same for calendar, tasks, and notes but leave the last item checked. So when Contacts are done syncing you go and check Calendar and leave Contacts

I was thinking about getting a palm T5 and I was wondering how well palm devices work with macs. Does the iCal sync ok and everything else (i know there is a palm desktop version for mac but i do not want to use that, i like ical to much) so does iCal sync fine and how about other apps, can they sync with my palm, Mail? Address book? etc....

Thanks, Wade. I didn't know that.
I've actually already installed the Palm Desktop software, so does this mean I'm good to go?
I realize this sounds pretty clueless, but I must confess that's how I am when it comes to this new phone/pda. I've also never used iSync before. In fact, until you mentioned it, I didn't even know it was installed.
I just opened iSync for the first time and tried to sync up with my Treo via bluetooth, and it found the device (very cool!) but was unable to sync. I got a message saying "iSync can not connect to this device."
When I tried to pair the device using the bluetooth setup assistant, it found the device, but all the boxes were grayed out and it said that "there were no supported services found on your mobile pphone."
Any idea what I'm doing wrong.

  • My iphone 5s keeps changing time on its own and keeps disconnecting from the wifi and cellular data. All other devices are connected and working. Is it a virus?

What can i do to fix it? My husband suggests I reset my phone but I'm afraid my data will be wiped off an that would be of total waste if the problem doesn't even get solved. Your help would be much appreciated!

There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPhone that has not been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store). If you have jailbroken it, you have exposed yourself to malware, and should restore the phone to factory defaults, without restoring a backup. All data will be lost, but that is unavoidable.
Most likely, you haven't jailbroken it, in which case you don't have to worry about malware. In that case, it's hard to say what's going on, but there are some things you can try.
First, try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.

  • Reinstall WinXP and Palm Desktop - Don't Want to Lose Data ??

Hi - searched for this in the forum, but didn't find any answers to my particular situation.  Just need to make absolutely certain I don't lose anything.
Had to perform a format/reinstall of XP in December.  All up-to-date with service packs, etc.
Now need to reinstall all my Palm stuff.
I have all the files from my pre-format stored in a massive hard drive backup on a separate drive.
My Centro is up-to-date as of December right before re-install; I have added some additional contacts/appts in the Centro since then.
I have added some other data in Outlook 2003.
Now, after I install the Palm desktop:
How would I perform my first hot-sync?
How do I get all my programs etc. back?  They are on the Centro right now - I don't want to lose them.  Some don't need to sync with computer and some do.  I can't afford to lose the data in these programs.  Will syncing with the phone (overwriting the desktop) allow my programs to stay the way they are on the Centro right now?
Do I need to do something with the backup I made?  Is it even useful?
Thanks in advance, and let me know if I'm not making sense.
    Melody

    Hello!
Fresh reinstall of Windows and Palm Desktop?  If so then all you need to do is plug the cable into the phone and hit the black button.  Palm Desktop will prompt create new user, just hit yes and your all set!  The hotsync process auto does a handheld overwrite sync style for this inital process.  If you already created the username in Palm Desktop that is the same as the Centro and have not yet hotsynced, rename that user to whatever and then do that sync.

  • Trying to sync calendars between 2 palm devices and ical

    Hi,
My fiancee and I each have a Palm handheld. Mines a TE and I think hers is a T2. Here is my dream scenerio:
We set up a couple of calendars in iCal, one for her stuff and one for my stuff. When we sync, we can each see both calendars on our respective palm devices.
Does that make sense? Is it possible? We just want to be able to coordinate our schedules, ya know?
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Let me say this before you go any further: sharing is difficult. In personal, not technological, terms.
What you want to do is relatively easy, and there are several approaches. The easiest, I believe, is to establish separate user accounts (on a single machine, or—ideally—on separate machines) and share your calendars usingBusySync, with—or without—Google calendars and an intermediate storage 'device.'
You should also consider using the Missing Sync for Palm OS to synchronize your Palm devices to your Mac OS X platforms, as it is a far more powerful and reliable approach than that offered by iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit.

  • Need a method for importing Palm III data into a Palm Centro

I just bought a Palm Centro (Verizon), with the expectation of importing data from my old Palm III.  From the Palm III Desktop, I exported Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Memos into separate folders (this was done on a Windows XP PC) and copied the resulting folders & files onto a flash drive.  But when I try to import these files into the Palm Centro desktop (on a new Mac Pro with OSX), the backup files are not in a "recognized format."  Does anyone have a process for reliably getting the Palm III data into the Palm Centro?  Also, is there an easy way to purge unwanted Contacts/Calendar events from the Palm Centro handheld?  With all the trial and error, its accumulating a lot of garbage.  Thanks...
