Data transfering speed

Well I was wondering how fast it would be to transfer data from computer to phone with either mini-usb or bluetooth?
Because the new Nokia N95 8GB doesn't have a card slot, there's no possibilites to use fast memory card readers.
One more thing, does different phones have different kind data transfering flash memory speeds? I remember using one of those first smartphones and even with data cable it had speed of like 1mb/10sec.

800 MB into a memory card in an Nseries phone is about 16-17 mins.
If you use a card reader USB-2.0 HS then it can be done in about 4 mins. (or less)
But if you have 1500 files in 100 directories and many subdirectories and the total size is also 800MB it will take longer to transfer.
Some useful tips:
- Use Data Transfer (file transfer or mass storage mode) this is the fastest way to transfer data to a Nokia device.
- When copying or moving stuff keep the transfer window (in the PC) in the forefront as this will ensure that it gets higher priority. If you put another windows in the forefront the priority of the process will be reduced and it will take longer to do the action.
- Don't access the computer hard drive at the same time you are copying stuff to/from it. As this also slows down the transfer.

  • Pci 5153 data transfering speed

    Hi All,
We are planning to buy a NI PCI 5153 digitizer to perform data acquisition.
In our application, we use a photodiode to recieve reflected light of a pulsed laser which has a repetition rate of 7KHz and pulse duration of 0.74ns.
We hope to use PCI 5153 to acquire data from the photodiode continuously and transfer these data to host computer for data processing in realtime with Labview.
We know that for PCI 5153, one channel can reach 1GS/s sampling realtime, so we want to know if installed on a proper desktop, can PCI 5153 transfer the data to host computer as fast as it samples?
    Thanks.

Streaming using the NI System can be complicated due to the complexity of the system. For streaming, you have variables to consider for the module, the chassis, the controller, and the Hard Drive/RAID. Since you are asking about a PCI device, we don't need to worry about the chassis (PXI).
    1. The PCI-5153 Module
The module is an 8-bit digitizer, that can simultaneously sample at 1GS/s on two channels, or 2GS/s on one channel. The card can produce up to 2GB/s of data. This is a problem since the max bandwidth of the PCI bus is less than this (discussed below). This brings up the importance of onboard memory, which acts as a circular buffer on the hardware while data is waiting to be transferred to the host computer. More memory means larger and longer acquisitions before needing to transfer data.
    2. PCI Bus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conventional_PCI)
I've included a link to the PCI Bus Wiki page. One limitation of the PCI bus is the maximum bandwidth, or amount of data it can transfer. It is theoretically limited to 133MB/s. NI PCI devices will see an actual performance around 70-90MB/s. Therefore, for NI digitizers, you would only be able to sample at 90MS/s max, in order to stream data continuously (forever). In your case, your not streaming continuously, but going to stream records.
    3. Records Streaming and Calculations
For your application, you will acquire records at a rate of 7kHz. If your record length is 1024 samples, then you will be generating ~7MB/s (7kHz * 1024 samples). This is well within the streaming capabilities of the PCI bus. This also means that the 8MB/Channel option of the PCI-5153 will likely not be enough, as it would only be able to fit one record in onboard memory at a time, and might overflow while it is being transferred to the host computer while the next record is being acquired. The PCI-5153 will write data to the onboard memory at the rate it acquires data (1GB/s), but the PCI bus can only empty it at a rate (theoretically) at 133MB/s.
    4. Application Considerations
Unless I'm not understanding your application correctly, the PCI-5153 will not work for you.  For your application, your laser pulse duration is 0.74ns. If you are attempting to acquire this pulse on the PCI-5153, then it is not fast enough. With a sampling at 1GS/s, this corresponds to 1ns per sample, which is more than your pulse. You might miss a pulse between samples! If you want to capture the shape of your pulse, you will need at least 10 points on the pulse, or 10x the frequency, or ~13GS/s. This would match better with the PXIe-5186.
    I hope this helps!

  • How to increase AFP data transfer speed?

When I connect to our server from a WAN source outside of our facility the file data transfer rate is extremely slow. We just upgraded to a 10Mps fiber service and that has dematically increased our website data tranfer speed. I would like to find a way to access the file server from remote location and work, but the data transfer rate makes productivity impossible. I would appreciate hearing how other organizations are set-up and functioning with file transfer sizes at an average of 10 to 15 Mb.
    Thanks,
    Brian
    OS10.6.8 Server,

If you don't have enough network bandwidth for your time requirements, you have little chance of success with the direct approach.  Techniques such as file compression and such can only provide limited help.  If you're transfering multiple copies of the files, then you can push one copy of the file to a hosted provider, and then serve additional copies from there.
As for your network, a ten million bits per second network connection is the speed of first-generation Ethernet.  That Ethernet was a fast network, back in 1985.  In the era of a one billion bits per second Gigabit Ethernet and increasingly commonly with the ten gigabit Ethernet links, a 10 Mb link is glacial.
A typical DSL network is asymmetric, meaning you'll have 10 Mb down (theoretically) and some fraction of that up.  So you might not be getting that 10 Mb in the direction you're coppying files.  And this is best case; various of the ISP network links around aren't providing their rated speeds.
AFP stinks on a network, and you're also opening up your file system to remote attackers.
As for WebDAV, read this.   In addition to WebDAV, you can also try an sftp or other "simpler" copy command as a test, and see what you get for that.  (sftp is also encrypted, which has benefits, though the encryption also requires more processing time.)
But beyond techniques such as data compression (and which may or may not be an option here) or incremental or "delta" changes to the data (which probably isn't an option here) or working locally and batching over the changes, there are few good ways to contend with a too-slow-for-your-needs link.

  • Very slow network directory listing - but fast data transfer speed once listed?

    Hello,
I have really tried to sort this myself before opening up to the community, however I have run out of ideas, and hope someone can offer the magic solution I have missed.
I am currently using the 3.4ghz i7 iMac on a 1GB LAN, running OSX10.7.2 - connecting to a Windows Server 2008 (Running Release 2) over ethernet.
If i go to a network directory that i haven't recently accessed it can take up to 60 seconds to show the contents of that directory. Once i have accessed that folder, if i come out of it and go back in it will be instant again - but the first time it lists the directory it looks like i have opened an empty folder - which after anything from 10seconds to 1 minute will suddenly show the files that are there.
Internet connectivity is fast through the network, and file transfers across the LAN are fast. (showing as approx 300mb per second) I can play and edit HD content across the network with no slowdown so I am confident that this issue is not related to the network speed itself, and is more to do with a setting on this mac.
Symptoms are very similar to this post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/12245148?messageID=12245148&amp%3b#1224514 8 - however i understand that in OSX Lion - SMB was removed - so i cannot find this file to edit.
I have tried bypassing additional hubs in the network by wiring direct cables to the switch that is connected to the file server, this made no difference.
I have also tried disconnecting the ethernet cable, and running over wifi. This fixes the listing problem, but when editing HD content over a network drive, this connection is not fast enough to carry the data without interruption (some projects are linked to up to 900gb of hd video content!)
Using ethernet, I have tried DHCP, DHCP with manual address, and manual mode. All reproduce this problem. i have tried using the windows workgroup, and tried without it.
I have also followed this suggestion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2134936?threadID=2134936&tstart=45 and used OpenDNS. this did not fix the issue.
For argument sake, I have also just tested a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard to see if it was OS related. This reproduces the exact same problem, near instant directory listing on the wifi, a long and arduous wait on ethernet.
I cannot work out why directory listing is instant over wifi, but not over ethernet on 2 different macs, running 2 different versions of OSX. I also do not understand why if the network is having trouble listing the directories - the data transfer speed is 300mbps when i copy files across the wired network from the file server to the mac.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to what could be the problem here? We are about to start work on a very large project, where the content we are editing is spread out across around 200 different network folders (different shoots captured over the past 2 years). We really don't have the time to wait 60 seconds each time we need to access one of those directories to look for a file, and I am very close to pulling all my hair out!
I really look forward to hearing from anyone who can offer any insight.

If you are suspecting that the Windows update had something to do with your LAN going slow, then try the following:
    1.  Look for updates for your clients LAN NIC driver; or
    2.  Un-install the updates.

  • Internal Disk to Disk Data Transfer Speed Very Slow

I have a G5 Xserve running Tiger with all updates applied that has recently started experiencing very slow Drive to Drive Data transfer speeds.
When transferring data from one drive to another ( Internal to Internal, Internal to USB, Internal, Internal to FW, USB to USB or any other combination of the three ) we only are getting about 2GB / hr transfer speeds.
I initially thought the internal drive was going bad. I tested the drive and found some minor header issues etc... that were able to be repaired so I replace the internal boot drive
I tested and immediately got the same issue.
I also tried booting from a FW drive and I got the same issue.
If I connect to the server over the ethernet network, I get what I would expect to be typical data transfer rates of about 20GB+ / hr. Much higher than the internal rates and I am copying data from the same internal drives so I really don't think the drive is the issue.
I called AppleCare and discussed the issue with them. They said it sounded like a controller issue so I purchased a replacement MLB from them. After replacing the drive data transfer speeds jumped back to normal for about a day maybe two.
Now we are back to experiencing slow data transfer speeds internally ( 2GB / hr ) and normal transfer speeds ( 20GB+ / hr ) over the network.
Any ideas on what might be causing the problem would be appreciated

As suggested, do check for other I/O load on the spindles. And check for general system load.
I don't know of a good GUI in-built I/O monitor here (and particularly for Tiger Server), though there is iopending and DTrace and Apple-provided [performance scripts|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1992] with Leopard and Leopard Server. top would show you busy processes.
Also look for memory errors and memory constraints and check for anything interesting in the contents of the system logs.
The next spot after the controllers (and it's usually my first "hardware" stop for these sorts of cases, and usually before swapping the motherboard) are the disks that are involved, and whatever widgets are in the PCI slots. Loose cables, bad cables, and spindle-swaps. Yes, disks can sometimes slow down like this, and that's not usually a Good Thing. I know you think this isn't the disks, but that's one of the remaining common hardware factors. And don't presume any SMART disk monitoring has predictive value; SMART can miss a number of these cases.
(Sometimes you have to use the classic "field service" technique of swapping parts and of shutting down software pieces until the problem goes away. Then work from there.)
And the other question is around how much time and effort should be spent on this Xserve G5 box; whether you're now in the market for a replacement G5 box or a newer Intel Xserve box as a more cost-effective solution.
(How current and how reliable is your disk archive?)

  • Data Load Speed

    Hi all.
We are starting the implementation of SAP at the company I work and I am designated to prepare the Data Load of the legacy systems. I have already asked our consultants about the data load speed but they didn´t answer really what I need.
Does anyone have a statistic of the data load speed using tools like LSMW, CATT, eCATT, etc... per hour?
I know that the speed depends of what data I´m loading and also the CPU speed but any information is good to me.
    Thank you and best regards.

    hi friedel,
Again here is the complete details regarding data transfer techniques.
    <b>Call Transaction:</b>
    1.Synchronous Processing
    2.Synchronous and Asynchrounous database updates
3.Transfer of data for individual transaction each time CALL TRANSACTION statement is executed.
4.No batch input log gets generated
    5.No automatic error handling.
    <b>Session Method:</b>
    1.Asynchronous Processing
    2.Synchronous database updates.
3.Transfer of data for multiple transaction
    4.Batch input log gets generated
    5.Automatic error handling
    6.SAP's standard approach
    <b>Direct Input Method:</b>
1.Best suited for transferring large amount of data
    2.No screens are processed
3.Database is updated directly using standard function modules.eg.check the program RFBIBL00.
    <b>LSMW.</b>
1.A code free tool which helps you to transfer data into SAP.
2.Suited for one time transfer only.
    <b>CALL DIALOG.</b>
This approach is outdated and you should choose between one of the above techniques..

  • NI-8451 in SPI mode and poor data throughput speed. 6us delays between bytes

I'm using 8451 to communicate via SPI with a DSP. I'm using Labview 7.1 (os:winXP), reading the data using "NI-845x SPI Write Read.vi".
Clock rate is with 6 MHz. and data transfer seems to work ok.
    Problem is very poor performance:
The bytes are transferred correctly at 6MHz speed, but when I measure the clock and data signals using oscilloscope, there is a 6us delay between bytes. These delays are generated by 8451 , because it's the bus master. What's wrong?
I excepted to get data transfer speed of 6Mb/s, as there is no speed limitations mentationed in 8451 manual. Currently my data throughput is 15% of the nominal speed.

    I have the same problem.

  • Issue in Data transfers using ALE for E-Recruiting standalone system

    Dear Experts,
We have an issue in data transfers using ALE. We are having standalone system where E-Recruiting is maintaind seperately and the version is EHP5.
When we configured iDoc in Sandbox and its working fine. But when it comes to Dev and Quality servers this is not working fine.
we have created iDocs using the following filters.
    For Object P: Infotypes 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003, 0006, 0024, 0105.
    For Objects O,S: 1032, Subtype: 0010
    For Object: 1001, Subtype: A003, A008, A012, B007
    For Object O: 1001, Subtype: A002, B002, B003, B012, Tyoe of related object: O,S
    For Objects: C, O, S, Subtype: 1000, 1002, 1028
    For Object:C, Subtype: 1001, Subtype: A007
When we do the data transfers in Sandbox using PFAL it is transferring the data properly.
But when we do the same iin Dev and Quality servers we are not able to do it and gettign 52, 51 errors.
Here we are facing a strange issue. For some Users when we transfer data it is transferring data but with 52 error messgae.
For some users I am getting 51 error where i could not transfer any data.
For some users, when we tranfer O, S, and P related data is moving but getting mostly 52 error and all the relationships are not moving here for O,S and properly. But P related CP, BP and NA are getting created successfully.
It is happening only in Dev and Quality server and that too some users are able to get transferred but not all.
Where will be the issue? How can we resolve this?
    Any help will be appreciable.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Getting data transfered from old HD to new ones, leaving 2 slots filled . .

    Hello,
*(Below is a thread I started in another forum, but, didn't get my final questions answered (see at bottom of this post in BOLD), and am hoping for further help and suggestions. I know there is a lot to read here, but, I think this information will help other novices, such as myself. Thanks!)*
I have 2 new HDs (each 1T) uninstalled, and I have my old HD (160 gigs) currently residing in one of the two slots in my G5. Any ideas on the best way/process to get the data transfered from the old HD to the new ones, leaving my two slots filled with the 2 new drives AND my data from the old HD transfered and intact, with a RAID0 setup?
OR, are there any other suggestions on a good setup with the 2 new HDs??
    I'm open to suggestions.
I always back-up on external HDs, so, is their a need for me to worry about setting up a RAID0??
I'm doing video processing for DVD release.
Should I just max out the 2x1T gig HDs and not worry about a HD failure??
    All Suggestions welcomed!!
    Thanks, Jack
    *FROM THE CUTTERMAN:*
You are limited with only 2 drive slots. In this scenario what usually works best is a small fast drive (eg Velocirapter or SSD) for OSX/Applications and a large drive for video files. It is not advisable to have the operating system running from a striped array.
Since you already have the drives, here is what you can do.
Install one new drive and format the partition you wish to use for OSX. You may not want to use the whole drive for OSX, so make 2 partitions. Be sure that it is GPT-formatted so it can boot.
Use CarbonCopy Cloner to copy your current OSX partition to the new one.
Set the startup disk as the new partition.
Remove the old drive and replace it with the second new one.
    Reboot, and partition/format new drive.
    *Hey Cutterman,*
Thanks for the advice. That sounds like a good set-up. I'll have to research the process of doing what you've advised, but, should work out ok:
    A. Install one new drive and format the partition you wish to use for OSX. You may not want to use the whole drive for OSX, so make 2 partitions:
    1. Partitions are done under Disc Utilities correct? Never done it before; will take a look.
    B. Be sure that it is GPT-formatted so it can boot.
    2. GPT is also done under Disc Utilities, correct? Here I start to get a bit confused, as I've formatted Extended Journal, SO, the partition with the OSX & Applications is formatted GPT, and the rest of the HD is formatted as Extended Journal?
    C. Use CarbonCopy Cloner to copy your current OSX partition to the new one.
    3. So, I partition the first new HD and use Carbon Copy Cloner (also under Disc Utilities) to copy the OSX & Applications from my original HD to the first new HD, correct?
    D. Set the startup disk as the new partition.
    4. This will be an option when I setup the partition???
    E. Remove the old drive and replace it with the second new one.
    F. Reboot, and partition/format new drive.
    5. QUESTION: So, you recommend not striping the HDs: If I do a RAID 1, which sets up a mirror of the HDs, and since the first new HD is partitioned with the OSX & Applications, AND is set up as the Startup Disk, then the second new HD will also mirror that?? Another QUESTION: Even if the second new HD does not mirror the OSX & Applications, the second HD will only mirror the space/partition not utilized by the OSX & Applications partition, correct?
    Thanks for your help!!
    Jack
    *FROM THE CUTTERMAN:*
OK I will try to answer your questions. To begin, if you want to mirror the 2 drives then you will need to boot from the SL install DVD or an external (USB/firewire) drive to set it up. IMO for your purposes it is too much hassle and a waste of HD space.
    1) Yes partitions are created in Disk Utility
    2) Yes, you choose a volume Scheme (ie number of partitions) and size them by dragging the separator bar. Then select the planned boot partition and click Options..., then choose GPT. I think it is usually the default but check and make sure. Extended journaled is the usual format.
    3) You need to download Carbon Copy. It is a free tool that will copy the entire image of your current system partition to the new one and make it bootable. Consider making a donation as it is a very useful and frequently updated utility. It is fairly intuitive to use. You can also use the restore feature in Disk Utility but I have had more experience with Carbon Copy.
    4) Once the copy process is finished the new boot partition will show up under the startup disk selections (this tool is in System Preferences).
    *FROM 666Sheep:*
If may i correct one thing: OP, don't choose GPT (GUID Partition Table). You got PPC Mac (G5), so valid partition type for you is Apple Partition Map (APM).
GPT is for Intel Macs and you will not able to boot from this kind of partition.
    *FROM THE CUTTERMAN:*
Thanks for the correction- my bad. No familiarity with non-Intel Macs.

    *WHAT DOES "IMO" mean?*
*(IMO for your purposes it is too much hassle and a waste of HD space.)*
*As I understand the points made: After I partition the first new HD, and Carbon Copy data from old HD, I then install second new HD, and this will just act as an overflow from the first partitioned HD, correct? Because, if set up a Raid1/Mirror, the OSX partitioned portion of the first new HD will not copy to the second new HD, and that space on the second new HD will be wasted, correct?*
*Also: I have to set up RAID1 (if I do not set up RAID0), correct?*
    *RAID 1*
*From WIKI: RAID 1 mirrors the contents of the disks, making a form of 1:1 ratio real time mirroring. The contents of each disk in the array are identical to that of every other disk in the array. A RAID 1 array requires a minimum of two drives.*
*Carbon Copy is a free tool that will copy the entire image of your current system partition to the new one and make it bootable.*
*1. Is my old HD partitioned? Is that done automatically by MAC prior to PC purchase?*
*2. Do I Carbon Copy the whole old HD or just parts? (eg. OSX, Photo Shop, After Effects, Various Files)*
*3. I read that it is necessary to DEACTIVATE Photo Shop (I have CS3) prior to doing Carbon Copy. Is that correct? If so, does this also apply to other Adobe applications? Such as After Affects, Illustrator??*

*Q? I'm using 10.4.11, so, I should follow these instructions?*
C: If possible, boot into safe mode to perform the backup (holding the SHIFT key at startup). In addition, you can clone while logged into another administrative user that you don't use at all to avoid further complications of changes which may be happening to your regular user (though don't use Fast User Switching to get into that other user, since that other user is still active when fast user switching is used). Otherwise you are going to be running a backup on a live system which could have changes happening while you are attempting to backup. These may yield an imperfect clone, with uncertain success at recovery. It may be possible that your clone will have its own hardware issues, so make at least two copies.

  • Problems with Photoshop performance and data transfer speed on iMac

Two months ago, I started noticing slow performances using Photoshop (above all using clone stamp tool) on my 27" iMac (late 2012). I did the AHT and I found that 8GB of 32GB RAM were broken.
I removed them but the problem didn't disappered, I also noticed that data transfer speed (both copy and paste from/to internal HD and from CF card/external HD) was really slow.
I tried many solutions suggested by Apple support, none of them worked out. At the end, I tried uninstalling and re-installing Photoshop: no more problems!!!
10 days ago, I received a new 8GB RAM module and so I installed it back... suddenly, the problem came back, I tried re-installing again Photoshop but the problem, this time, still persist!
Does anyone had the same experience? All other CC programs work well (LR, AE, Premiere...)

    yes, it does!
what seems to be very strange to me is how data trasnfer speed could be affected!
(just to say, I've already tried reset of SMC and PRAM, I've tried with different accounts and I've also re-installed the OS, next step would be formatting the disk and installing the OS from zero)

They will simply use Migration Assistant to transfer your Home folder, third-party applications and support files, and system preferences. This is something you could do yourself. You would need a Firewire cable to connect between your old computer and your new one. Migration Assistant is installed in the Utilities folder of your new computer.

  • Data transfers from SRM to R/3

    Hi,
    i have follwing questions?
    1. How date transfer from SRM to R/3?
    2. Why PO transfer throught RFC? why not IDoc? and why confirmation and invoices are transfer using IDOC?.
    3. config document for EBP-SUS?
    Thanks
    Rams

    Hi Rams,
The data transfers between SRM using ALE (Application Link Enabling) via RFC & IDOCs...
P.O is transferred to R/3 using RFC. Confirmation and invoice through IDOCs.
Since P.O is the leading document and of course legal document, there should not be any duplication. Means if it generates two P.O numbers one in SRM & the other in R/3 they are considered as two different P.Os.And will be an issue during audit.
Where as confirmation and invoice posting documents are internal documents and the docs created in the back end with the back end number range. In this case same number is not mandatory.
Hope this makes you more clear.
    Award points for helpful answers.

But when i run report CX34, doc type of data transfered from FI to EC-CS is blank.
And I can't drilldown this data.
    Please show my mistakes
    Many thanks,
    Orchid

    Dear Orchid,
in EC-CS the document number and the document type will be new, the doc type info will not be updated so the original FI doc type will disappear.
Typically, in EC-CS all reported financial data (so documents from FI) will be updated with the same doc type at posting level SPACE (realtime update) or 00 (all other).
    I hope my question helps.
    Ciao,
    David

  • Data Retrieval Speed in Oracle Spatial vs. ESRI ArcSDE

I would appreciate any opinions regarding data retrieval
performance between Oracle Spatial and ESRI ArcSDE. Would an end-
user (using ESRI software) experience significant differences in
data retrieval speed depending on how the data were stored in
Oracle (MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY verses ESRI Binary/Blob formats).
Knowing that the ESRI binary formats are tailored to their
software front-end apps (ArcGIS, ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and
ArcInfo), wouldn't this be a "non-issue" until the spatial
dataset gets "large", and even then, wouldn't performance be
(almost) equal if the spatial indexes were created properly?
    Thanks for your inputs,
    Bruce

    John,
You can't do that type of query in sql from sql*plus using
SDEBINARY. HOwever, you can perform spatial queries in ArcMap
    if you are using SDEBINARY.
You can use the query builder to perform point-in-polygon type
    queries.
    Hope that helps.
For my two cents, I think SDO_GEOMETRY gives you a more robust
database to work with, because you have the added power of
Oracle Spatial functions. If you are using SDEBINARY you are
limited to only what you can do thru ArcGIS.
If you are concerned more about performance than accessibility,
especially with a large number of users, then SDEBINARY might
    be the better choice.
I love Oracle Spatial and am hoping that the performance issue
will not be a serious one when we start putting ArcIMS developed
    apps into production.
