Does the phone continue to use up data even when powered off? How do I close out of aps like Facebook and Words with Friends?
Ma'am you might try and find app like System Panel app for your iPhone this app works great for me on showing what my phone is doing it shows all of it's Vitals. I've use the app for 3 years and i am very happy with how it keeps me informed on my phones Which are 2 Razr Max's. b

How can I store the music I listen to on my iphone without streaming it from the cloud and using all my data on my phone plans? How do I dump it on my phone all at once in itunes rather than waiting for each song to download individually from the cloud?
What?? You asked how to get all your music on your phone at once rather than downloading it to your phone from iCloud.
Go to your purchased list in iTunes and download all your music to your iTunes library, as explained in the linked article. Then sync it all to your phone using iTunes you're done. The music will be stored locally on your phone and you won't have to download it again in the future. -
My iphone 5 has been hogging data like crazy the past two months. I have not used my phone anymore than I normally do, in fact I would say I use it less often than normal. I have gone over the family share data limit of 15GB three times this billing cycle. The first time i had 121500 MB of data used. I thought it was rhapsody that was causing all of the data usage but my sister uses rhapsody on her iphone 5c and she hasnt gone over at all! So its not that. I decided I would turn OFF all cellular usage on apps like facebook, instagram, rhapsody, twitter, even MAIL! I am basically not able to use my phone outside of my house now which is NOT okay! I took screen shots of the cellular usage and at one point after I had completely shut off celluar data on all apps, i checked my cellular usage and DNS services, Mapping services, Data and syncing all had racked up data! I hadnt used any of those services! I also turned off all location settings and maps and siri! phone is still using data like crazy!
I saw in recent posts about this issue that Apple replaced peoples iphones because it was a bug in the phones software that was causing the data to go haywire! I have an upgrade but I dont want to use it if I dont have to! I also dont want to get another iphone 5 if this problem is happening with iphone 5's. I have not seen very many complaints about iphone 5c so that might be the route I go.
I also restored my iphone last night cause I saw a discussion which said to try that. So far it is still using data and im on wifi!
Any suggestions as to what to do now?Contact your carrier for their advice.

Why do i keep getting 'to use data on your phone,you'l need add on pack' texts?
I ordered a pay as you go sim card from EE a few weeks ago to use in my iphone 5 as a second/work phone. The package on the sim is a 'top up £1 and get some free mins and texts (no data allowance)' plan. I put the sim card in my phone and have left the phone at home and not put any credit on it yet or used it at all, ( not even any apps/calls etc ). Every day when i come to look at the phone there are atleast 4 text messages a day from EE saying 'To use data on your phone, you'll need an add-on pack Click here to buy'. I am getting sick of this as i have turned mobile data off in the settings and my phone is constantly connected to my home wi-fi so cannot see how it would even by using any data. Today i have come home to 8 of these messages! I refuse to top my phone up with credit and start using it until this is sorted as im not paying for any data usage i wont use! There are no apps running in the background, and nothing has been set up on the phone that would require internet usage i.e. emails / weather etc. Please can someone help me... Thanks

how do I make it so that the one computer that has the main itunes account on it be used on other computers, when it comes to backing up phones and not deleting data off of phone that isnt on that computer itunes becasse its all on the one main computer. Baiscally the problem is that one comuter and one account has always been sued for eey persons itunes. Now if we want to be able to backup and use itunes on our own computers fro our iphones and such, how will all he data that is on our phones not be deleted once its plugged into a new computer? Also, is theere a way to get all the stuff on thw current itunes onto each computer, via differtn account name?
option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. A relative synced my iphone with his laptop without me knowing. It had a passcode on the phone but the sync still worked. I have since found out he is quite IT knowledgeable and has been known to track other peoples phones that he wants to know information about. How is my data useful to him and can he restore this data on another iPhone and run it parallel to mine? I have had people send me messages which I have not received. These have been screen shot to me later including time and I have just not got them. I had 4 weeks worth of messages go missing from my phone..I know that he synced my phone because his work laptops I'd came up in my settings. Also if the above can be done can he change the settings on my actual phone and access my location without placing tracking software on my phone. Can someone please help here as I can't restore a backup to my phone for obvious reasons and refuse to change my number because of this loser.
Connect the device to the computer.
In iTunes, select the content desired to sync.

My old computer (a Sony) with my iTunes crashed. I have a new MAC and want to make sure I can keep all of my music (mostly from old CD's that have been lost). I bought iTunes match hoping that would work but it isn't using the data on my phone. HELP!
Since you have purchased a new Mac (which, BTW, is not typed in all capitals) why not buy a Time Capsule <http://www.apple.com/airport-time-capsule/> which is designed specifically to work with OS X and Time Machine?
You don't say what part of your Sony "crashed." If it was not the HDD it is possible to take the computer apart, put the HDD in an external case, then recover the data off of it (including the music) simply drag-n-drop. If it was the HDD that "crashed" that makes it more difficult.
If you are able to recover the music from the Sony you can then add it to the iTunes library on the Mac and iTunes Match will then scan, match and upload the tracks to be mirrored in the cloud. -

If your iPhone cell carrier allows you to use Tethering, you can turn your iPhone into a wifi hotspot, then your iPad Air can connect to that for internet access. Not all cell carriers allow tethering without you signing up for additional fees/services. For example, AT&T in the US still has grandfathered "unlimited" data plans, but they do not allow tethering for those plans. With AT&T you need to switch to a Mobile Share plan (or a tiered plan if still available) to use tethering (legally).

my friend took my phone and tried to guess my password to unlock it, and he locked me out of my phone for a minute, but when it unlocked and i tried to use my phone all of my apps, photos, all my data had been deleted. how can i get them back?
As Ocean20 say, your only shot at recovering the photos and data is to restore from a backup (with iTunes if you took the backup with iTunes, through iCloud if you took the backup through iCloud).
The erasure is to prevent your data from falling into the hands of somebody who takes your phone and eventually guesses your password. If you feel that the inconvenience caused by this feature and your friend outweighs the trouble that somebody could cause if they got possession of your contacts and other data, you can change this behaviour.
Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Erase Data > OFF -
I have an iphone 4s that i got last week and i set it up just using the phone. today my dad restored it as my mothers iphone so i lost all of my data. I tried to restore it as my original phone i had but i exited out of itunes and now my phone wont showup in itunes or on my computer

My iPhone is split from front panel on top, and back cover of my is swollen too. I am not able to use my phone and I cannot access my data in the phone. Please suggest what could be the cause of this problem?
It sounds like the battery might have gone bad, and is swelling and causing the symptoms you describe. Do not attempt to use the phone, but take it to Apple for evaluation.

my 4s went in the ocean this past weekend. ugh. guess it was time enough to switch to a 5 anyway. so i commanderred my daughers 4s to use as my own for a week or so while i get the new 5. I backed up her data to our family shared icloud account (7 devices and 50g), and then deleted and restored from my own backup. i also changed the name on her phone to my own. but, now when i look at the backup management on icloud, it shows her backup with "this device" under and my new name on it. I expect if i back up to icloud now it will not overwrite the back up i restored it from, it will overwrite the most recent back up of this device, which was her final back up. how do i back mine up- perhaps just to itunes for a week or so, until i can restore her back up back to her phone?
any help would be appreciated.

dad in trouble...If this is your first sync and there is already data on the phone, perform the steps listed below. This will transfer your apps and other media purchased from the iTunes store to your iTunes library, perform a manual backup and restore, then sync the iTunes media back to the phone from your iTunes library. This will not transfer media from other sources such as music from your ripped CDs. As you said you never synced before, I assume all of your apps, music and other media was purchased from the iTuens and App stores. If this is correct, you won't lose anything.
Download and install iTunes: http://www.apple.com/itunes/.
Launch iTunes, go to the View menu and click to check Show Sidebar.
Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Edit>Preferences>Devices if using Windows) and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".
Go to Store>Authorize This Computer and authorize all Apple IDs used to purchase apps and other iTunes media (music, podcasts, movies, tv shows, etc.) on your phone.
On her phone, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and turn iCloud Backup to Off.
Connect her phone to your computer and in iTunes go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer your purchased media to your iTunes library.
Right-click on the name of the phone on the left side of iTunes and click "Reset Warnings".
Right-click on the name of the phone again and click "Back Up" to back up the phone.
Right-click again and choose "Restore from Backup...", select the backup you just made to restore from and restore the backup to your phone. If prompted to back up again, decline.
Go to the Info tab and make sure nothing is checked so you aren't syncing calendars, contacts, etc. with iTunes.
Go to the Summary tab and select This Computer under Automatically Back Up.
Check the other tabs to confirm that your sync settings are the way you want them.
Click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone. -
How is it possible to use data when you hardly even use your phone?
I just got an LG G3 phone yesterday afternoon and have 500 mg to use and have already maxed it out and have hardly even used the phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has data been used why I am sleeping and when I know 100% I am not even on my phone. I use my laptop for all internet. My husband doesn't even use the internet, and if he does I am the one that finds the page he needs, and he really doesn't even know how to use it. He has a basic flip top and doesn't want anything more. So, please help me understand how data is being used almost all day, all night, and even when we are sleeping and the phone is not being used for anything? As a matter of fact, I am on my laptop and can't sleep because of this!! My phone is in the other room and I bet data is being used right now. But, I know don't anyone uses that much data in a DAY and A HALF when the phone is not in use. I have had three phone calls all day and only one I answered and I made one call out, but data has been used all day. And I have had free 250 mg for probably at least six months and have used no data and now all the sudden when I have been on my laptop all day the data is used. Can someone please help me understand how this is possible?@
