Data values do not save

Hi,
When I input data in a data form and save it, the message "The data has been saved" is displayed but the values disappear from the data form and are not stored in Essbase.
What might be the reason?
I am on Planning 9.3.1.
Thanks

• New field in ODS - data value does not flow after activation

Hi,
We have an ODS with some data in it. Now i added a new key figure to the ODS and changed the transfer and update rules accordingly.
The value for this key figure appears in the PSA and the ODS table *40 (before activation table), but after activation the value does not flow to the activated ODS table *00.
Any idea why this is happening?
Pl let me know.
Regards,
Pradhiba

Hi Pratibha
I did not found anything wrong with key figure 0OI_WRBTR in BW system.
Please check the contents of active table in *00 table using SE16 and also using tcode LISTCUBE.
I hope you are not selecting wrong key figure while looking at active data of ODS.

Date is always a problem in application engine. You need to convert date to PeopleSoft date format using %DateOut and %DateIn functions etc. Try using those functions when you are loading date values from CSV file to peoplesoft tables.

• Data value changes not always reflected in .jsp code

For example, I can change the data value of an output text field, run the project and find that the new value is not always what shows up. I get the old value instead. I have to then go into the .jsp code and modify the value= property to get the new text to display. The new value, however, was being displayed in the designer window. I can also change a form name or some other component ID and the .jsp code may still contain references to the old name as well as the new name. This causes runtime exceptions. I am new to Java programming . Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I am using the 30-day eval version of Creator. I have tried the referesh, build only , etc., but still run into problems.

Hi,
Could you please list some steps in case there's a bug
and include the jsp source.
Also, I suggest you to get the latest updates.

• Powerpivot data connection will not save the password

I'm trying to create a Powerpivot workbook with data that users can refresh themselves before analysis. We don't have Powerpivot data refresh in Sharepoint active, so I can't make use of that service.
When I create a Powerpivot data connection to SQL server using SQL Server Authentication (unchanging read-only username and password), and checking the box to save the password, the connection works fine for refreshing the data as long as I leave the workbook
open.
If I close the file and re-open it, the password is gone from the data connection and the user cannot refresh the data.
I've tried configuring the data connection with the SQL native client provider and the SQL OLEDB provider and I see exactly the same results.
The connection string gets built with Persist Security Info=True and the Password shows up as hidden text (dots). It stays this way through refreshes as long as the workbook is open. However, once I close the file and re-open it, the
connection string no longer has the Password parameter listed at all, not even as hidden text. Persist Security Info is still there and set to True. As might be expected, the connection string does not have the information needed to access the
SQL Server instance.
This type of connection string using SQL Server Authentication still works fine with the password saved when used directly as an Excel data connection, or when used as a data source in Reporting Services. It's only Powerpivot where the password gets
blown away.
Is there a workaround for this issue?

Thanks Jaynet.
Unfortunately, the procedure described in the link you provided does not work for PowerPivot, at least in Excel 2010.
If I create the PowerPivot data connection using "From Database/From SQL Server" there is no option to "Allow saving password". There is only the checkbox to "Save my password". There is an "Advanced" button that allows you to set many additional
properties of the data connection, but there is nothing like allow saving password.
If I create the PowerPivot data connection using "From Other Sources/Others (OLEDB/ODBC)" and then click the "Build" button, I get a dialog that is pretty close to the one in your link. For the Provider tab, I can choose either the Microsoft OLE DB
Provider for SQL Server or the SQL Server Native Client 10.0. In the connection tab I do have the "Allow saving password" checkbox. I check this and complete the rest of the data connection configuration. After I save the file with this data
connection and then re-open it, the data will not refresh. If I edit the existing connection from the PowerPivot design tab, the Password parameter is completely missing from the connection string. If I go back into the connection string builder,
there is nothing in the password field (not even dots) and allow saving password is no longer checked.
I've even tried creating my own connection string in Notepad and pasting it into the connection string box (definitely including Persist Security Info=True). This does not work either and PowerPivot erases the entire Password parameter just the same
as if I had used the builder and checked Allow saving password.
I'm beginning to think that the previous poster, David Hager, has it right. This may be a bug introduced with the latest version of PowerPivot. If there is no workaround, it is a total pain for me.

• After I updated to ios5 my calendar did not bring in dates and when I began re-entering dates after one or two it froze up and after I got it going again it will not populate an end time on the same date and will not save the appointment as a consequence.

After I updated my Ipad2 to IOS5 my calendar lost all appointments. After re-entering a couple of appointments it froze. After getting it going again, the calendar will not populate an end date for the current day and consequently I can't save the appointment. Is this a common problem as I have just purchased this ipad and the calendar function is very important to me.

Hmm... It looks like they are gone forever now then. I can't think of any other way of getting them back apart from restoring from an iTunes or iCloud backup. Somebody else might be able to help but I think they're gone forever. I don't know why they were wiped from your iPod but it could be something to do with security. In the future I would recommend syncing to iTunes or iCloud to prevent it from happening again. You can always make a reservation at the Genius Bar and see what those guys can do because it seems that they are still there, they are just 'hidden' from view. http://concierge.apple.com/reservation/gb/en/techsupport/

• How to create a UDF on BP Master Data that will not save any data?

I need to create several UDFs on the BP Mater Data screen that will be configured to automatically show a balance of 0-30Days, 31-60Days, 61-90Days etc.
I am currently able to do this although I cannot seem to find a way to only show the current data without saving it.
Eg. I have a UDF with an SQL statement that shows the current BPu2019s 0-30Day Balance, but the BP Master Data screen always changes to u2018Updateu2019 every time the UDF balance is updated.
I am looking for a way to show this information on the BP Master Data screen similarly to the default BP Account Balance without saving the data.
I am working with SAP B1 8.81 PL09 and B1UP 4.3.0.0. Thank you.

Thanks Gordon, I appreciate your assistance. I can get all the fields to display as I want them, but my issue is having to save the BP Master Data form every time I wish to move away from it.
Is there anywhere in SAPB1 that stores a running total of account balance for 30Days, 60Days, etc..? (just to be sure)
I might also try to create a new tab on the BP Master Data form that shows an SQL Aging Report and see if I can pick up the info from that embedded report.
Any other ideas would be also appreciated.

• E mail lion when view by date , it will not save or stay like it.

Having trouble with my e mail. It keeps jumping back to being all over the place in every or all accounts,
i keep setting it to view by date But it keep changing back when i open mail.

Although other users are having bigger problems (cannot even see mails) with LN and FF4, maybe this workaround also will do it for you: https://support.mozilla.com/de/questions/778689

• C# Wrapper for Berkeley Db is not ptting proper key and data values

Hi All,
I am using C# wrapper for Berkeley Db which is available at sourceforge.net.
Now when i am putting an integer as key value, it returns keysize as 9,
instead of returning 4.
That C# Wrapper contains a serialzing class called BDBFormatter which pass all the data into DBT .
The file created using C# Wrapper is not read as key and data values are not coming properly if i try to read the file using only C berkeley db.
Can anybody suggest me some way to create a berkeley Db file in C#. which can be accessible by Linux C berkeley Db APIs.
Any help will be appreciated.....
Thanks,

How data is encoded is up to the programmer. There is no defined way in BDB to do that, it is application dependent.
The BDBFormatter class is just one way of encoding C# classes and structs (which includes the ability to serialize Nulls).
It is written with BDB in mind and has some performance advantages over the standard .NET serialization classes.
If you want to read back the data from code written in another language, you will have to duplicate how data is encoded/decoded.
The source code is there to read. ;-)

• Script Data Component - System.DateTime.TryParseExact Method not validation date value

Hello
I have Script data component in my data flow task and i am trying to validate whether the date fields has valid date values or not.
So i added below code to validate the date fields
in below code TestDate is datetime and ValidTestDate is datetime as well.
string[] formats = { "MM/dd/yyyy", "MM/d/yyyy", "M/dd/yyyy", "M/d/yyyy"};
DateTime pDateTime;
if (System.DateTime.TryParseExact(Row.TestDate.ToString(), formats, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, DateTimeStyles.None, out pDateTime)==true)
Row.ValidTestDate = Row.TestDate;
System.DateTime.TryParseExact is not validating to true even the TestDate is valid.
I have even tried converting the datetime field to DT_DATE but it did not work.
I appreciate any suggestion to accomplish the check whether it is valid date or not.
Regards
Harris

This is because the string value of TestDate does not conform to either of the formats.

• Error while saving date value in Java dictionary

Hello Everybody,
I got following error while saving date value in one of the fields of the Java table.
Internal error occured in submit request: Error in method updateRequestContact : The object of type java.sql.Date with the value '2005-12-04 08:00:00.0' assigned to host variable 9 is not normalized. It must not contain time components in the time zone running the virtual machine.
I can't find why it is taking time value in the date object.
This value is coming from the RFC as a date value, and I am saving this value in Java dictionary table.
Same code for this was working fine earlier. But, now suddenly it gives error like this.
Even if I provide date on the screen from webdynpro application, this date value can't save in the Java dictionary and gives same error.
What should be the problem behind this?
Regards,
Bhavik

Hi Satyajit,
I am getting date value from the screen of the webdynpro application from date picker control and passing this value in Java dictionary.
More Information:
I have dat value in the Date object: target_date
But Now I have made new Date object as following:
Date target_Date1 = new Date(target_date.getYear(),target_date.getMonth(),target_date.getDate());
Then I am passing this object to Java dictionary. Still it gives same error.
Then I have changed code as following:
int l_year;
int l_month;
int l_days;
l_year = target_Date.getYear();
l_month = target_Date.getMonth();
l_days = target_Date.getDate();
Date target_Date1 = new Date(l_year,l_month,l_days);
Now it works for me.
But I guess this is not the perment solution. It looks very strange. I have used so many date objects at various palces. So, this solution is not the final for me.
I want to findout the main cause of it.
One more thing: This code was working for a mornth or two. But, now suddenly it is giving this error.
Please help me if anybody knows.
Regards,
Bhavik

• Numc characteristic values are not saving in AUSP

Hi Praveen,
If you are fetching ATINN from AUSP table, then you need to use conversion routine..
Call the FM CONVERSION_EXIT_ATINN_* & you will get the converted value.

• Epubcheck fails to validate ID CS 5 date value

Hello,
I applied for an appication with Apple to distribute my ebook via their iBookstore. In Apple's specifications it says my epub file "Must" past epubcheck 1.0.5. I downloaded epubcheck and ran the code in Terminal. There was a minor hyperlink error, which I've fixed, however, I can not get rid of the following error.
epubcheck 1.0.5
ERROR: /Users/Digital/Desktop/XXXX-eBook.epub/OEBPS/content.opf(2): date value '' is not valid, YYYY[-MM[-DD]] expected
Thinking that it could be an epubcheck program error I downoaded the newer version...
epubcheck 1.1
ERROR: /Users/Digital/Desktop/XXXX-eBook.epub/OEBPS/content.opf(2): date value '' is not valid. The date must be in the form YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD (e.g., "1993", "1993-05", or "1993-05-01"). See http://www.w3.org/TR/NOTE-datetime.
I've done some research and found this fix:
Troubleshooting the epub’s ‘date’ metadata
(http://ebw.co/kbase/creating-epub-from-indesign/after-indesign-export-to-epub/add-metadata)
If you check your epub with epubcheck version 1.0.5 or later, you may get this error message:
ERROR: title.epub/OEBPS/content.opf(2): date value '' is not valid, YYYY[-MM[-DD]] expected
To fix the date: in the metadata section of your content.opf file, replace this code

with this

That date’s an example, of course. Change that to your publication date. (If you don’t have a
tag, just add the line.)
So now the question - why does ID CS 5 not output the date properly, and how do I open the opf file to insert the corrected code? Or is there another way - or have I failed to insert a date somewhere in my ID file. If so...where do I do that?
Thanks.

Ok, I got it fixed. I found this article: http://www.webvivant.com/fixing-InDesign-epub-2.html
"...As content.opf is just a plain text file, you can open it with your favourite text editor. Make sure you use a text editor and not a word processor - you want something that can save ordinary text files."
I opened the content.opf file in TextEdit and found the
empty as epubchecker suggested. I replaced it with this:

I opened my eBook file with Springy (http://www.springyarchiver.com) and replaced old content.opf with the newly saved file. Ran epubcheck again in Terminal and got these results.
No errors or warnings detected
Hope this helps someone in the future...

• Reg: Assigning a Date value in context

Hi,
Below is the code, where i am initializing a context with the date value. But the date value is not getting assigned to the context. What could be the problem? Kindly help me out.
String s = "12/31/9999";
try {
SimpleDateFormat sd = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
java.sql.Date date1 = (java.sql.Date)sd.parse(s);
Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance();
c.set(2006, 8, 22); //month is zero based
java.sql.Date date2 = (java.sql.Date)c.getTime();
wdContext.currentContextElement().setValidto(date1);
Thanks & Regards.

Dhana,
Try this:
String s = "12/31/9999";
try {
//NOT USED ???
SimpleDateFormat sd = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
java.sql.Date date1 = new java.sql.Date( ((java.util.Date)sd.parse(s)).getTime());
Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance();
c.set(2006, 8, 22); //month is zero based
java.sql.Date date2 = new java.sql.Date(c.getTimeInMillis());
wdContext.currentContextElement().setValidto(date2);
WD in fact requires java.sql.Date, but many Java API returns java.util.Date and you may not upcast java.util.Date to java.sql.Date
