Data vault x311

Hello,
I have owned my x311 almost 4 years, upgrade the harddrives, and software to WHS2011.
But when I came home from holiday the statusbutton said biosproblem. I tried reinstall the OS (from usb), and tried to restore from cd with no luck.
I also tried to find new firmware but cant find any. How can I reflush bios, where to find firmware?

How to create and use Data Vault with HTML/JavaScript (SAPUI5) for Mobile Apps?

Hello,
I am creating a demo Enterprise Mobile App, for cross platform and I want to use the Data Vault.
I am not able to figure out how to implement the Data Vault with HTML/JavaScript i.e. SAPUI5 for cross platform mobile apps I have a tutorial, but it is for Android based apps. Where as I want it for iOS as well. I guess, in this case, implementing the Data Vault using SAPUI5 over HTML and JavaScript would be better.
If anyone has any links or sample code to implement Data vault in HTML/JavaScript (SAPUI5) or specific for iOS apps, it would be great.

Data vault installation

I am trying to install Data Vault on our 11g database and am gett in the following error
cd $ORACLE_HOME/lib
make -f ins_rdbms.mk dv_on lbac_on ioracle
make: ins_rdbms.mk: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `ins_rdbms.mk'. Stop.
Any idea?

Try
cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
and then execute your commands.

Trouble downloading Ascendo Data vault

HI, I changed from 9900 to Q10. even though I used the transfer utility on the link, I had to download all applications from Myworld. The only app I can not download is the Ascendo Data vault. It gives me a window saying "downloading" then I get another message saying that THe app need to be purchase. I had purchase it on my 9900 and I have not problem to purchase again but it does not give me an option to purchase and stays stuck on the "download" status without actually downloading. I went to the BB center in Dubai and they suggested I reset the device which I really want to avoid as I have to call our head office to do the enterprise activation again which was a real pain. I went to My BB world app to make sure I delete the Ascendo app from the "available" and I did. Please help as I really need this app. Can I get a notification to my email when there is a response to this message as I am not familiar with how to track and follow up on the posts? Thanks. Ahmed

This support model is nothing new for BB, and they once owned the market. But, comparisons are irrelevant anyway.
But, it is curious that Ascendo would send you back to BB regarding your wish to buy the app again...very curious indeed, since if they sell to you directly they don't pay any portion of the fee to BB. But, then again, I don't know them, so I don't know how they operate.

Dell Data Vault causing errors

It looks like Dell installed new software that is causing errors on my XPS 8500. What is it and why is this error coming up?

I'm not sure what issues that data vault service is causing you but I do know many other people including myself have had a horribly unknowing issue with it causing horrible pops and squelching noises while trying to enjoy audio and video on our systems. (mine being an XPS laptop) I've been trying to remedy this for weeks as some people said uninstalling this did not fix the audio/video problem.
What I did not realize was that delldatavault.exe runs as a service in the background. I discovered this while viewing my resource monitor and watching that particular service cause severe spikes in the CPU and disk activity which were the exact moments the interference in the audio/video would occur.
Completely disabling the service altogether, has finally relieved my migraine...

Edit the partition and ensure that the "The target partition can be updated" setting is enabled. This setting can be found on the first tab of the Partition Wizard (click on the Settings button)

Common data vault

Hi,
In case of multi sites for sap plm, is it possible to have common document data vault with all sites accessing document data from common document data vault only. The sites are located globally.
Will the common doc data vault will be able to maintain referential integrity with the data in sap databases at multi sites.
Any inputs on common document data vault will be suitably rewarded.

SAP PLM DMS supports the already built-in KPRO concept of the SAP Netweaver. Basically it supports performant multi-site access of large engineering documents. In SAP PLM DMS you have the choice to activate this solution. You then have to set up SAP content server(s) and potentially SAP cache server(s).

OUI-10150 While installing Data Vault

I am trying to install data vault on 11g Rel2 RAC. When i run runInstaller (source/runInstaller) from software directory the installer given error OUI-10150. Also when i check installed products the summary shows that Oracle Data Vault is installed.
Any help ?

Regarding Oracle data vault error !

I am going to configure data vault (version 10.2.0.4) on Oracle 10g platform . I am running Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) in RHEL 5 server .
But when I run the patch (./runInstaller) of the data vault then at the last stage I got the below error using OUI :
Configuration assistant "Oracle Database Vault Configuration Assistant" failed
The "/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Auditing, Fine Grained Access, Data Vault or Triggers on Updates/Deletes ?

I would like to track changes on two separate tables whenever there are any changes, or deletes made to these tables. The tracking would be .....
Values in the table Before and After any change has been made.
The APEX User who made the change.
The DTG of the change.
Something to this effect.
Anybody got any ideas ? I have read through the FGA and not convinced that is the way to go.

I actually use triggers to create what I call "History Records" - every insert/update/delete triggers the creation of a new record in a history table. Others would call this an Audit Trail.
One thing that Tom doesn't really make clear is how you would go about doing the same thing without using triggers. If the intention would be to use PL/SQL code, for example, then you need to call this somehow. You could do this on an Apex page readily enough, but what happens if the data is updated directly in SQL? You could run the same PL/SQL code, perhaps, but only if you knew it needed to be done. I would suggest that this is more of a maintenance headache than forgetting that you have triggers - especially as the SQL Workshop will show you objects related to your tables but trying to find a piece of PL/SQL code within Apex is not so easy (but still doable, of course). Also, you would have to create the same PL/SQL code on every page that the record could be edited. Though, having said that, with proper documentation, this shouldn't be an issue.
The only headache I had with triggers was "mutating tables" (where you try to grab some data from the same table that is being updated - this is not allowed) - but as you are simply writing data into another table, then the only real issue would be keeping the columns the same between the two tables and ensuring that the trigger accounts for them all.
An alternative to this, is to never allow updates to data. Effectively, this means that every "Update" becomes an "Insert". Tricky to set up, but still doable - though this, by necessity, requires careful use of primary keys and sequence numbers or datetimestamps to ensure that the user only sees the latest version of any "record" (that is, the last record for any given primary key). This, of course, has to be controlled within Apex.
There are probably other methods as well, but I'd start with triggers

How to restrict grant connect through with Data Vault

I need to restrict the ability to grant proxy privileges in the database. This is the statement: alter user USER_A grant connect through USER_B;
I tried creating this rule that looks at the sql text for %CONNECT THROUGH% in the statement and then added it to the "Can Maintain Own Account" Rule Set which is attached to the Alter System command but it doesn't appear to be working. How can I get this working? Is my rule that I created correct. Ultimately what I want to do is allow proxies to be created for most users but just restrict only certain special users.

That being said - there are authorization checks that you can create for SE16.
Create an authorization field via SU20. Create the object via SU21.
Create a role. Add transaction SE16 to the role. Create a profile. Activity would be display. And then you can add the objects that you created.
Again you may get a better answer from someone who does security everyday. I'd suggest posting in the security forum.

I'm getting the following Error message when trying to import some of my folders from my external hard drive. This is not happening with all of my photos. How can I access my photos? I now have Aperture 3.5, but I'm guessing I exported those with an earlier version of Aperture 3? I have a Mac Book, OS X 10.9

My advice is for libraries, not vaults.
To be able to use a vault, you have to restore the library from the vault and then open the restored library.
To restore the entire library from an external backup disk
Connect the hard disk drive that contains the most up-to-date vault to your computer and open Aperture.
Choose File > Vault > Restore Library.The Restore Library dialog appears.
Choose Select Source Vault from the Source Vault pop-up menu.
If necessary, navigate to the vault from which you want to restore, then click Select.
Click Restore, then click Restore again.

Aperture library restored from vault different size to original?

Hi, I tried to share an Aperture library between two user accounts and it's messed up the permissions such that I can't use it in either account.
Shortly before trying to do this I updated the Aperture vault I keep on an external USB drive.
I've been unable to restore the permissions on the original library so I put it in another folder and asked Aperture to restore from my up to date vault.
After some time Aperture restored it's library from the vault I keep on the external drive but it's about 4GB smaller. The original aperture lib with incorrect permissions is 100.54GB and the new lib is 96.5GB.
As far as I can tell the library that has been created from the vault is up to date, so why has it shrunk by 4GB? Has the process of rewriting it in one go saved it to the disk more efficiently?

The vault is smaller as it doesn't store thumbnails or previews, both of which take up a noticeable amount of space.
When you use the restored library, I'd expect the thumbnails will get automatically rebuilt. The previews may as well, so eventually it will fluff back up.

Data Encryption

Hello.
Although I red the docs about Transparent Data Encryption, Data Vault and some encryption packages, I could't find an info about how to encrypt data in tables so that when someone runs :
SELECT username FROM sometableon the encrypted table where
username is varchar2, he gets encrypted data,something like:
username
Ab34SferT
....Also it would be great if I could use WHERE clouse on the encrypted column in the query above using nonencrypted data format.
something like :
SELECT username FROM sometable WHERE username='JONES'and to get :
username
Ab34SferTIf I could achive this somehow, please explain me how.

Also, does anyone have some good example doc about using dbms_crypto ?
I searched the web but have found nothing containing explanation with good examples.
