Data visualization components

Dears,
I am in the process of developing a dashboard using flex, so
I am in need of Data visualization components like (Heat-map, Dial
etc). Can anyone please share me if you have any in built data
visualization components. Thanks in advance
Regards,
Ram

You are right. But I'm just sharing with you the info I collected in different places and all that coming from Oracle is in "may be but not necessary" manner ;) The only straight forward "announcement" (famous October the 1st) was proven to not be so exact ;)
Look at the last post of Ted Farrell in famous "11g Countdown" thread. He confirms the intention to support other J2EE 5 servers (like TomCat and JBoss).
For what I assume, they will support selected servers with intention to draw as many developers to JDeveloper as possible. Then, they will push most of them to ADF (when you get used to JDeveloper then it is easy to become an ADF addict). Then they will sell ADF licenses for the same price as SE1 servers and thus most of products will got entrapped into OAS 11g... Clever plan. Not bad at all, if they provide reasonable licensing policy/pricing.

PaKo

  • Using the Oracle ADF Data Visualization Components in a standard JSF enviro

    Hi,
I have asked this question on the JDeveloper and ADF forum, haven't gotten a response yet:
Using the Data Visualization Components from ADF in a JBoss 7.1.1
.. but I would like to ask the question here as well if anyone have used the data visualization components from Oracle ADF Essentials .. the free version ... using the graph components in general, but I am looking at specifically using the gantt chart component in particular ... in a standard JSF environment ( e.g. Tomcat + Mojarra, or JBoss with the built-in Mojarra implementation ) ??
I know there are other JSF charting components out there ...like the ones from PrimeFaces, but the gantt chart from ADF looks more ... well .. professional.

People are not prone to answer questions that are not really a problem. You want to know something about a free product, install it and see for yourself. In any case spreading your question around is not going to help you, the people who know about ADF are still going to be looking in the ADF forum. If you don't get an answer there, what chance do you think you have that you'll get one here where it is off-topic?
I'll close with a word of advice: you generally pay for quality. If you want professional looking charts, you'll probably have to look at commercial products.

  • License for Flex 3 Data Visualization Components

    Hi,
Where can I get the serial number for Data Visualization
    Components in Flex 3?
    Thanks.

How do I get the Advanced DataGrid to show up in the list of
components on the left side, so that it can be dragged and dropped.
Otherwise, those 10 or so adg examples seems to work
    OK.

  • How Can I Install the SDK 3.6 Data Visualization Components?

    Hi
I upgraded my Flex Builder 3 SDK to 3.6 today. I'm on a Mac.
I'd like to use the data visualizationcomponents as well. I downloaded them here . But, I don't understand how to install them. It says follow the instrucitons here .
To install the library and related assets do the following:
Unzip ‘datavisualization_SDK3.5.zip’ onto the  SDK 3 folder (e.g.
C:\Program Files\Flex Builder 3\sdks\3.0). This will extract  the
following into the SDK 3 installation
    datavisualization.swc into the frameworks\libs  folder
the datavisualization RSL into the frameworks\rsls folder
datavisualization_rb.swc into the appropriate  frameworks\locale\<locale> folder
I don't have a directory called sdks/3.0 ? Should I go ahead and make one? The instuctions are for 3.5, but I'm installing 3.6-- I assume the instructions are the same.
    Thank you.

    anyone? bueller?
    the release notes here: http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flex/3/releasenotes_flex3_sdk.html
state that this can be downloaded from here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/flexdownloads/
    which is a 404.
where are we supposed to get this stuff?

  • Flex 3.5 data visualization license

    Hi,
For Flex 3.5,  the data visualization library is freely available, but it's licensing  is unclear to me. Do I still need the Flex Builder license if I want to  use it in a commercial product?
The legal stuff page (http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Legal+Stuff#LegalStuf f-LicensesofthevariousFlexSDKpackages) mentions:
"Adobe Add-ons for Open Source Flex SDK – This package contains  all of the items that are in the Adobe Flex  SDK and not in the Open  Source Flex SDK. Downloading this file will  allow you to bring the Open  Source Flex SDK to parity with the Adobe  Flex SDK. This package includes  the Adobe Flash Player, Adobe AIR, the  advanced font encoding  libraries, and the code that allows licensing of things like the Data Visualization components. All of these elements are licensed under the  Adobe Flex SDK license."
But I don't understand what that means. Is "code that allows licensing of data visualization" something else than the "data visualization" library?
    Kind regards,
    Glenn

The Data Visualization components were open sourced, but done so in a somewhat quiet and lazy manner. Nobody ever bothered to update the descriptions on the open source download page to reflect the change and (as far as I can tell) they never bothered to properly repackage it. If you want the source, you also have to go digging through the Flex SVN. Reading the source, you can find all kinds of details that were deliberately undocumented reflecting when Adobe didn't really want you messing with it and/or wanted to give you a reason to pay. No cleanup. Just released as-is.
For me it's been great since I am at last able to finally dive in and understand how the components work, extend them, and can often fix the quirks fairly easily.

  • Mobile development using Adobe Flex 4.5 SDK and Flash Builder 4.5 for Data Visualization

    Hi,
I am currently looking at the feasibility of building Data Visualization chart/graph in Android mobile phones. I would like to enquire if the mentioned subject comes with the Data Visualization components as seen in the Tour De Flex.
    Cheers!

If you're using components specific to the Flex 4.6 release, then it would be a natural assumption that design view will not work.  If you're having this issue while using components that are not unique to Flex 4.6, then I don't have an answer.  On a good note, design view is completely useless anyway.  It's much faster to type than to drag stuff around with your mouse needlessly.

  • ADF Data Visualizations group not showing up in Component Palette

I apologize for my ignorance, but I cannot find how to solve this problem. I am trying to use the data visualization components such as graphs but my component palette does not show this. It does show ADF Faces, JSF, and some others, but not this. I tried adding more libraries to my project's properties, but it does not show up. I am using:
    JDeveloper
    Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.2.0
    Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.2.0_GENERIC_091029.2229.5536
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    Kerry

Go into project properties -> JSP libraries and make sure you add the data visualization tag library.

  • Stable Build with Data Visualization?

    Hi,
I just downloaded and installed the latest Stable Build (4.0.0.13875). Now my project has lost the data visualization components -- lots of compile errors about not resolving component implementations for the data visualization components that I'm using
Anyone know what I need to do get them working again? I suspect this is something simple, but I'm at a loss.
I had been using the Beta 2 version of the SDK.
    TIA,
    Kirk

I am not certain I understand the problem. Can you currently see an graph in the Fusion Order Demo? If not ensure that you have the flash plugin installed.

  • Where can i download the Flex Data Visualization package

i need the Advanced DataGrid,so where can i download the Flex
    Data Visualization package?not free?how much?

The AdvancedDataGrid should be in the SWC
frameworks/libs/datavisualization.swc in the Flex 3 SDK at
sdks/moxie in your Flex Builder 3 installation. The source code for
the data visualization components is not provided. As far as I know
these components will not be free but I don't believe pricing has
    been announced yet.

  • Can Flex data visualization sdk be used for free?

I am not interested in the soure of the data visualization component as such, but I plan to use it(binary) just to create the swf files and deploy on a website. I know that Flex SDK is free. But can i use the data visualization component with the Flex SDK(command line) for free?
I am actually able to use it and do not see any watermark. Just wanted to make sure its free use is permitted under the license.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the link Paul.
I am still a bit confused. Let me clarify a bit more.
The 'Get the free Flex SDK' link in Flex Homepage (http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/) lists the following downloads:
    1. Adobe Flex 3.4 SDK
    2. Adobe Flex 3.4 Data Visualization Components for Flex Builder
    3. Adobe Flex 3.4 Automation Libraries for Flex Builder
I downloaded 'Adobe Flex 3.4 SDK' and 'Adobe Flex 3.4 Data Visualization Components for Flex Builder' and unzipped the files, and merged the contents of the two unzipped folders(copied to appropriate folders).
So now, using the command line mxmlc I can use the chart components and I do not see any watermark.
And I do not intend to buy Flex Builder as I just use the command line compiler and a simple text editor. So do I still need to pay the cost of Flex Builder professional(for ethical reasons)? Or since I dont use Flex builder, am I permitted to use the data visualization components for free? Technically there is nothing blocking me to use it free, like the need of a license key etc.

  • Unable to find data visualization component in JDEV 11g Preview 4

we have installed jdev11g preview 4 and we are unable to find ADF data visualization component.
Is there anyway we could add this component.
    Thanks in Advance
    Sabir

    Hi,
in the component palette (while having an ADF Faces page open), right click and then choose "Edit Libraries" from the context menu. Choose the DVT libraries and toggle them to the selected libraries. The DVT components should show now

  • Upcoming Lumira Webinar June 11th on the topic of "Big Data Visualization and Custom Extensions"

The next webinar in the Lumira series is coming up this week on Wednesday, June 11th, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Pacific Standard Time. The day is almost here and if you've already registered, thank you!
If not, please click here to register.
    Speaker Profile:
The topic is presented by the Jay Thoden van Velzen, Program Director Global HANA Services/Big Data Services Center of Excellence at SAP!
Jay has been working in Analytics/Business Intelligence since it was called Decision Support Systems in the late 90s. Currently he is focused on Big Data solutions and how to make the various components of such a solution run smoothly integrated together using the SAP HANA Platform.
    Abstract:
Big Data analysis poses unique and new challenges to data visualization, compared to more traditional analytics. Such analysis often includes frequency counts, analysis of relationships in a network, and elements of statistical and predictive modeling. In many cases, traditional visualization techniques of bar- and column charts, pie charts and line graphs are not the most appropriate. We have to avoid the “beautiful hairball” and make it easy for end users to absorb the information through clever use of filtering, transparency and interactivity. We will likely also need to provide more context to go with the visualization than we have been used to in traditional analytics. Moreover, in case of forecasts you need to include any confidence intervals in order not to mislead.
This means we need more chart types, and often the chart types you need may not exist, nor could the need for such chart types necessarily be foreseen. However, Lumira allows us to design and code our own D3.js visualizations and integrate it into Lumira while providing all the data access methods – including SAP HANA – that it provides out of the box. This means we can develop our visualizations to share the outcomes of Big Data analysis to exactly how we feel it should be presented. During the webinar we will show a number of examples, and specifically the integration of forecasts coming from R into Lumira through a Lumira custom extension.
We really hope to see you there!
    Cheers!

Coming to your other query regarding possibility to use visualization components developed using "ADF Data Visualization" in OBIEE, yes OBIEE 11g uses ADF 11g. How do you do this? Adequate information is not yet available.

  • Libraries need for ADF Data visualization

    Hi all,
I want to ask list of libraries which needed by ADF Data visualization.
    Thanks

    Hi,
since you ask this question on the JDeveloper 10.1.3 forum, just be aware that DVT components work on JSF 1.2 only and not in JDeveloper 10.1.3

  • How to Install Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) on Windows Server 2003?

I recently installed "32-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio" on my computer (Windows 7, 64bit). Everything seems fine and I can develop and run my application in Visual Studio 2010 and IIS 7.
Now, when I deploy my application to the Server, it raises error:
Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand' threw an exception. ---> Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client
Obviously I need to install ODAC on the server, too. My server is:
    - Windows 2003 32 bit R2 (I know, I know!)
    - IIS 6
So. I downloaded the same installation from Oracle website (ODAC 11.2 Release 5 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio [11.2.0.3.20]) and installed it on the server. But still getting the same error.
PS: When I was installing, I chose Oracle Data Access Component for Oracle Client 11.2.0.3.20 in Oracle Universal Installer. hmmmm. Should I choose "Oracle Server" instead? Screenshot

ODP.NET, Unmanaged Driver uses unmanaged dependencies in the Oracle Client. The error you see means you have another Oracle Client installed on the Win2003 machine and ODP.NET is attempting to load the incorrect Oracle Client version, rather than the version you installed ODP.NET with.
What you need to do is direct ODP.NET where to find the correct version of its unamanaged Oracle Client dependencies. This will be generally the bin directory of your Oracle Client home that was installed with ODP.NET.
