Database 9i Installation
Hello,
i tried to install the Oracle Database 9i. After choosing the environment, my PC stops at loading the installation environments (31%). Why ?
Which hardware components/configuration must I have?
I'm using the OperationSystem Windows 2000 Professional.
Better check the installation manual for requirements. I believe you need at least W2K SP2.
Also check the requirements for ORACLE_HOME. You may need to install in a new Oracle Home.
Stop all existing Oracle services before installation, if you have a previous Oracle installation.

Prerequisite check of database instance installation failed on Solaris
Dear All,
Please provide your valuable suggestions in resolving the below issue
We are installing the SAP NW 7.4 EP as distributed installation
Application server on RHEL 6 and Oracle database on Solaris 11(SPARC).
We have installed the SCS instance on RHEL with out any issues.
While running prerequisite check of database installation on solaris we are getting below errors.
"Atleast 500MB of free disk space are required for an diagnostic agent installation"
and
"could not evaluate condition obsolete kernel parameters"
In the sapinstdev_log file we are getting below lines.

It looks to be more permission issue rather than space issue. Ensure the file system where you copied the DVD has full permission.
Check the installation logs for more details on which other file system needs full permission and work accordingly.

For your understanding ,
Here are the steps that i followed,
(1)I am Installing SAP XI on Windows 2003 server standard edition with oracle 9i as database.
(2)I copied the DVDs to HARD DRIVE
(3)I created the Microsoft Loopback adapter, assigned an ip.
(4) Then installed j2sdk 1.4.2 for windows
(5) installed central instance with SAPinstHi Carsten,
Thank you for taking a look at my problem.
I am using NW_2004_SR1 (Netweaver 2004 SR1).
Just for your information, the size for those two files on my Hard drive are
SAPSSEXC.001 is 650,240 Kb
SAPAPPL1.001 is 126,608 Kb
and my label.asc in Exports directory is
SAP:NETWEAVER:04SR1:DVD_EXPORT:NETWeaver 04 SR 1 EXPORT DVD:D51030721
label.asc in EXP1 directory is
SAP:NETWEAVER:04SR1:EXPORT(1/3):NetWeaver 04 SR 1 Export CD 1/3:CDxxxxxxxx
label.asc in EXP2 is

Error during Database Instance Installation
Hi,
We are installing SAP CRM 4.0.Central Instance Installation is over without problem. However during Database Instance Installation we are getting an Error which says :
"The node E:\sap\DATA does not exist".
I created this folder manually. Then is gave another error saying
"Node C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\CRM_40SR1_ABAP_UC\DB\CRM\DATA does not exist."
I created this again. Then it gave another Error saying :
"Node C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\CRM_40SR1_ABAP_UC\DB\4.0\DATA does not exist."
Why is this error coming up again and again and any solution to this problem?
Thanks,
SuparnaThis is happening because installation program is checking the existence of DB Export directories which you specified to the installation program. It has to do with the installation screen where you specify the location of your DB Export CD/DVD during installation of Database instance. Usually what helps is if you copy the DB Export CD's to a directory in your hard disk and specify that as the target for copy. Just check what you are specifying DB Export parameter screen.
Cheers,

Companion CD installation - getting Oracle Database 10g installation
Hi everyone,
I want to install the Oracle Companion CD (to use HTTP server and HTMLDB) on Solaris with Oracle Database 10g. I downloaded the companion CD and when running the installer I am getting "Welcome to the Oracle Database 10g Installation". I have already installed the database so my question is why the installer is asking me to install another database ? The documentation is explaining that the user would have the choice to select an HTTP server installation.
Best regards,
OthmanGet the companion CD from the same place as the database. Start at http://otn.oracle.com, click on Downloads, and to to the Database download
Get the step by step instructions from the documentation. Start at http://tahiti.oracle.com, go to the database documentation for the version you are using, click on the Books tab, search for "Companion CD Installation Guide for [your operating system]" or "Companion CD Quick Installation Guide for [your operating system]" and follow the steps.
I strongly encourage you to install ONLY the HTTP server from the companion CD, and to install it into a separate ORACLE_HOME.
After that, I suggest you use APEX instead of HTMLDB (APEX is the next generation of HTMLDB and is MUCH better.) To get that going, start at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/index.html and look at "Documentation and Tutorials" for the installlation guide. -
Folks,
Hello. Initially, my Windows XP host name is "localhost" and IP address 127.0.0.1.
I installed Oracle Database 11g with Windows XP successfully and all Database clients work with Database instance correctly.
For some reasons, I uninstalled the entire Database Server and delete the entire installation directory /oracle.
I configured Windows XP IP address into 192.168.196.101 in order to ping other machines.
For my need, I installed Oracle Database 11g with Windows XP again. On step 7 of 8: Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, I got this error:
ORA-12560:TNS: protocol adapter error.
I click "Password Management" button, there are no rows in this Windows (no username, no lock accounts).
I check listener as below:
C:\>lsnrctl
LSNRCTL>start
Its output: listener name LISTENER has already been started.
LSNRCTL>status
Its output: ......Service DB1 has 1 instance. Instance DB1 status ready. The command completed successfully.
I check \Oracle\cfgtoollogs\dbca\DB1\trace file, the entry is :
listen[0]=LISTENER address=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(port=1522))
I also check \oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\SAMPLE\tnsnames.ora file and listener.ora file, the entries are the same as below
HOST=localhost port=1522
I think HOST=localhost and port=1522 is the cause of the error ORA-12560 because Windows XP has been configured into HOST=192.168.196.101.
But I don't understand how to solve this issue.
Can any folk tell me how to solve this issue ? need to cancel the installation on step 7 of 8 and install it again ?
Thanks.Folks,
Hello. Oracle Database 11g Installation Wizard is on step 7 of 8. I don't cancel the Wizard. I am not sure whether there is effect or not. listener.ora is not removed. I have been waiting for a while after stop listener. I run the 3 commands again and copy the result as below:

Database Instance Installation error- DIM:00011
Hi,
I got the following error during installation of ECC 5.0 Ides version. It was Oracle Database(10.2.0.2) on Windows 2003 server(SP 2)
DIM-00011. The service does not exist. Cause: You have tried to edit a service which does not exist, or there is an error trying to access the registry
I couldn't find Oracle services in the Services directory at all. Previously I installed Oracle 10.2( software only) and then applied Patch set 10.2.0.2 using OUI. I was unable to connect to Database using SQL* plus session.
However I was able to install Central Instance. The error occured during Database Instance Installation.I have created instance N04 and service OracleServiceN04 using ORADIM. Now I have total 3 oracle services in Services directory.
1)OracleJobscheduler 2) OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener3)OracleserviceN04
However, I am still unable to connect through SQL*plus. I get following errors:
Ora-1034 & Ora-27101
I wish to continue with installation...what do you suggest? -
Error in creation of sample database during installation of Oracle8
I am trying to install Oracle8 for Intel Solaris8. Near the end of installation - running database configuration assitant, the creation of the sample database failed by an alert:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
I also tried to run database configuration assistant in custom mode separately, "ORACLE not available" message came up.
I think ORACLE should be connected and running before creation of the sample DB, like installation of Oracle in Windows.
Anyone has the same problem or can give me a help?
The Oracle(8.1.7) CD comes with Solaris8 (07/01) package.
Thanks.I would guess that your kernal parameters have not been set. Check you oracle install guide for the appropriate additions to /etc/system for semiphores and shared memory segments. If you have not made these changes, the database will not come up.

Problem with database instance installation
Hi@all,
I'm dealing with the installation of the sap solution manager 3.2 SR1.
The platform is a win 2000 server, I use Oracle as the database.
Oracle was installed successfully and the installation of the central instance terminated without errors.
Now I try to install the next step, the database instance.
I always choosed the standard parameters, except for I choosed no domain installation and unchecked using SLD.
Nevertheless, the installation procedure stops at step 16 with the following error log entry (partially translated from german to english):
System call failed. Error 1332 (Allocations of account names and safety identifications were not accomplished.
) in execution of system call 'LookupAccountName' with parameter (NULL, Administrators, ...), line (305) in file (synxcaccmg.cpp).
I've attached the full logfille here.
Looks like sapinst cannot get the system user parameters?
How could I solve this? Any idea? This was the clue
I read through the whole planning and preparation tutorial and through the preinstallation and installation tutorial.
There's no recommondation to have the english os version installed.
But better such an easy problem instead of a difficult one
Thanks a lot! -

I have tweaked the shared memory max as suggested in Oracle Manual / SAP Installation Guide, to no avail.
The listener is up already.
When I logged in as user ORA<SID>, and go to svrmgrl > startup nomount pfile=init.ora, it can startup without hassle.
Although the Product is not supported in PAM, we have another machine running smoothly for years with this product combination, so it's not the product compatibility issues.
But when using R3SETUP -f DATABASE.R3S, the phase stopped with the log pasted above.
Any ideas, gurus?
Thanks for help.
Best Regards,Mr. Markus, there's no file on saptrace/usertrace.
To be sure, here's what I've done:
1. Run oracle listener.
2. Check connection with svrmgrl > connect internal (connected).
3. Modify init.ora with my DB Name:

even if you have a 64bit version of Oracle running, you need to have the 32bit oracle client installed on the machine where the BOBJ server runs on.

SunithaHi,
I would try adding epdadm and SAPServiceEPD accounts to Administrators group and give Administrators full access to sapmnt shared area. Also double check SAP_EPD_GlobalAdmin domain admin authority and SAP_LocalAdmin and SAP_EPD_LocalAdmin accounts.
Open
DCASAPHR05\sapmnt\EPD\SYS\profile folder using explorer and created file and see if there is any authorzation issues with domail\sapinst account.
good luck

Oracle Database 10g installation on windows 7 32 bit
Hi,
I tried to install Oracle DB 10g but an error appeared (ORA-12546): permission denied, I searched for this error and found the following:
Cause: User has insufficient privileges to perform the requested operation.
Action: Acquire necessary privileges and try again.
BUT: I cannot understand the solution, Can you help me solve it??????
Thank you very much,,,

Thank you for your response,,
I actually use the version 10.1 which is not supported by win7, as you said before...
Now I am ok., the DB installation (10.2) is succeeded, but I installed Oracle forms builder 10.1, and when I tried to connect the form with the database, it requested from me to enter database name, I cannot know the exact name, Is there a way to find it?? (the error: ORA-12154)
Please reply as soon as possible,,
Thank you very much,,
TasneemWhat do you mean " I cannot know the exact name". You created it, didn't you?

o OracleOraDb10g_home1SNMPPeerMasterAgent [manual]

o OracleServiceORCL [started]

I go to the DOS console and type:
c:> sqlplus scott/tiger@ORCL
and I get:
ERROR: ORA-28000: the account is locked
I did this right after I restarted my computer.
When I use the Enterprise Manager at:
http://localhost:5500/em/
I get for ORCL:

Status Pending Since: Unavailable
Seems that I can never get the database started properly?! When I press the Startup/Shutdown button I get:
Current Status: open
This is the correct current database status, although it doesnot match the current status in the sitemap page
What does this mean? Do you think this may contain the clue to the answer to this problem?
When I restart the Database I get the same status: unavailable.
I need your help to resolve this problem. The alternative is to revert back to Oracle 9i DB Server. Thank you in advance.
gkkI can help you with the SCOTT account being locked. Try:
sqlplus /nolog
connect / as sysdba
alter user scott identified by tiger account unlock; -

i started creating database control repository, when i saw emca running i had seen repository created successfully , but sysman user is not created at this point of time. Then i looked into emca_repos_create_2008-04-10_11-57-03-AM.log file but the file is unable to open because it's looking for file emreposcre.sql which creates sysman user in this location /opt/db/oracle/product/10.2.0/sysman/admin/emdrep/sql/
i feel while installing the database these files are not created....? or i need to run any scripts before running emca ....?
give me some inputs to this thread.
Thanks,
nil

Problem creating database during installation Oracle 8i
Hi!
When I was installing Oracle 8i a problem appeared. This problem was about Database creation, when the program of the Oracle installation was creating the database an error message was appeared : ORA-01034:ORACLE NOT AVAILABLE. I aborted the creation of the database and Oracle 8i was installed successfully. Now I'm trying to create the database with dbassist program but the same error is showed. Is there some solution?
In addition, I'm installing Oracle 8.1.7 in a Sunblade 100 Sparc with Solaris 8.0.
With best wishes, Jordi Carrasco.did you define the variable ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME?
