Hi,
It seems that environment variable SAPDATA<n> are not  comfiture properly?
But why don’t use brspace?
e.g. +brspace –f  tsextend  -t  PSAPYBMCD -f  SAPDATA1 -s <size>+

  • Warning in DB13 Check DB "BR0970W Database administration alert"

    Hi
We have an alert message in DB13 when we check the checkdb  log. Log details are as below
    BR0970W Database administration alert - level: WARNING, type: CRITICAL_FILE, object: /oracle/EPR/sapdata10/btabd_11/btabd.data11, value: (max_size) 30466040 KB (> 29439485 KB)
This warning is for all the datafiles; I did just give the sample log above.
Can you please suggest and help resolving this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The issue here is that there is no enough disk space for the datafiles to extend. In this case you can turn off the auto extend or Increase the disk space of sapdata10 or decrease the max_size or you can move some of the datafiles to other directory or filesystem.
You can turn off the auto extend while the database is online. After turning off the auto extend, you need to monitor the datafile/tablespace size periodically.

    HI
1.Do i need to configure the CCMS_OnAlert_Email, for every alert that you have, in the satellite system?
Best thing I would say is to copy method ( RZ21 --> Method --> Method definition )CCMS_OnAlert_Email to Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email in Solman and assign this auto reaction to  MTE class of satellite systems.
    2. How do i configure this out of solution manager, and bypassing the satellite system?
You have to install/configure sapccm4x( for monitoring abap ) on satellite systems by giving details about Solution manager. Then the alert will be sent to Solution manager from satellite system and the configured auto reaction will send mails .

  • How to apply row level security against the database administrator

I would like an advice in applying row level security against the database administrator. We need to prevent DBA from editing data in some table rows or have any indication that data was corrupted.
There is no problem in viewing the data so we considered one way hash function or digital signature which will be stored in the same table, but we see following disadvantages:
HASH - DBA may use the same hash function to update the stored data after he changes the sensitive row.
Digital signature - the is a need to manage and keep the private key in a safe place outside of DB
Is there additional ways to achieve the aim?

Does VPD helps to prevent from DBA to edit/view a data in specific rows?Yes.
If I correctly understand, DBA has full access to security policy used by VPD to control the access and can grant himself privileges that I don't want. You can to define which users can be exempt of the politics, for the context or by Grant EXEMPT.
    This includes DBAs.
The simple fact of being DBA doesn't guarantee the exemption.
Everything goes to depend of the VPD config.

  • How To Disable Verify Database Message Alert

How To Disable Verify Database Message Alert?
I have a VB6 open Crystal Reports using Crystal Reports XI R2 (SP5) and almost every time I open a report, I get an alert message about the table has been changed and I have to click "Ok" to make it goes away. Is there a way to  disabled this alert or set default to "Ok" so I do not have to  click this message every report. Thank you very  much.

    Hello,
You must verify if the database has changed so you can't disable the message. CR must match what the DB is using or the reports will fail or return wrong data.
It's odd that even after verifying the DB in the designer your app still needs it to be verify the report. You did save the report correct?
    Also:
    Dim CRApplication As CRAXDDRT.Application
    Dim Report As CRAXDDRT.Report
Is the report creation engine and you should be using craxdrt.dll. You need to be licnesed to use craxddrt.dll and this may cause problems for you later when deploying.
    Use:
    Dim CRApplication As CRAXDRT.Application
    Dim Report As CRAXDRT.Report
The mapping is not a switch you can turn on or off but it is Event driven. You need to add code to the viewer section to capture the event if the mapping event fires. Then you can set it to the way you want to use it.
I suggest you purchase a case on line and get to the Report Design team to figure out why when you verify the report your app still thinks it needs to be verified. Something going on in your report that the forum makes it difficult to debug the problem. You can't attach files to forums.

  • Career from Systems to Database Administrator

    Hi all,
I need some career advice. I want to persue my career as an Oracle Database Administrator and I have underwent a basic level of training on Oracle Database administration. However, I have been recently moved to a team which is into -- systems. And my work is mainly related to Active Directory,Exchange and managing servers.
I searched a lot about -- 'starting the career as an Oracle DBA' and found out that people generally start as Systems Admin/Unix Admin/Developer and then switch to DBA Admin. My work experience is less than 1 year. I would like to know-- should I continue with this Systems work and get some experience in System Admin to get into Oracle DBA Admin?
If so,then for how long should I continue with Systems before actually switching over to Database Administration? Moreover, should I do some certifications like MCSE while I am working in Systems? And when and how should I start my preparation for Oracle certifications?
Hope to get inputs from you all.
    Thanks in advance

you have to have some earnings, if you are already at another area, you can take adavantage of being already hired somewhere, and you can start studing in parallel so you get acquinted with oracle. First kind of job you may find is a DBA at entry level, which lets you in a pretty difficult position, but there is no other way to start.
Download software and manuals and start practicing as much as you can. A lot of peaple I have seen here at entry level have taken this strategy:
    - continue with current job
    - start self-studing oracle from manuals
    - installed oracle at a local pc/laptop (XE or EE)
    - a lot of questions, lack of concepts, problems, bad configuration appear
    - they take advantage of this forum to start troubleshooting and continue learning
    - when they feel more comfortable with knowledge the make the OCA exam and later on OCP.
    - either way, keep studying

    Dear SAP Gurus,
We are getting the following error in Check Database in DB13
    BR0978W Database profile alert - level: WARNING, parameter: LOG_BUFFER, value: 14254080 (>< 4096,512 KB)

We have change the parameter as per SAP Note#830576, still the same error is comming.
    Kinldy Help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Vijay,
Are you trying to change log_buffer to a smaller size and you can't? If you on Oracle 10g, you won't be able to reduce log_buffer as according to Oracle Metalink 351857.1, "The Log_buffer Default Size Cannot Be Reduced In 10g R2".
If you are concern about the warning in DB13, go to txn DB17 to change the condition will help to get rid of the warning.

  • Oracle 10g Database Administration Workshop I

    Dears !
How i may get a soft copy of the Oracle 10g Database Administration Workshop I from the net for downloading in free.
    Thanks.

    Ashraf,
Besides the fact that the soft copy is and only is to be used by Oracle University trainers and is a properity of Oracle and that's make the use of it outside oracle illegal if you are not a part of OU, I would say one more thing. If you are really on the level to start with oracle database administration learning which seems to be true from the request you made, you wont be able to clear ANY doubt from the book alone. You need some one to have a talk/discussion to clear them and thats why its called ILT,instructor lead training. There is no use at all of the book if you don't get the doubts clear and I can gurantee that by juse reading the book,soft/hard whatever copy, you wont get anything. So it better to come in OU and do a proper course. If you think price is the issue than you can do the same from a partener too where price would be less as well.

  • Database reset alert

I have been getting an annoying popup from iSync titled "Database Reset Alert", saying that
"Inconsistencies in your sync information for Contacts and Calendars were detected and have been repaired".
"The next sync for entourage 2008, address book, entourage, iSync, .Mac and iCal may take longer than usual".
I have done the following to try and fix the problem:
    1. in iSync preferences I "Reset Sync History..."
    2. I disabled synch in Entourage 2008
However the popup still comes every 10 or 15 minutes and is extremely distracting. I have looked in this discussion group and saw that some people had the same problem but the problem was resolved when they reset the sync history from the preference menu, but that did not work for me.
    Thanks,
    Ivry

My MM, iPhone, and iCal info is correct, however, my Address Book and Entourage addresses only lists the persons' name and no other data. Entourage calendar has no data. I'm trying to advanced sync from MM to computer.
    I receive the same message:
"Inconsistencies in your sync information for Contacts and Calendars were detected and have been repaired.
The next sync for iSync, iPhone, Address book, iCal, .Mac and Entourage may take longer than usual."
Very frustrating! I'm afraid that if something messes up MM, I've lost my info. Anyway to backup MM info while waiting for a fix on the inconsistencies issue?
The first sync with MM worked.
    Thanks,
    Meg
