To your 2 Question whether we are SAP customer?
    Yes we are SAP customers,
but I can't tell you more about running database applications
because our customer rent apo-specialists who did the daily doing.
I only asked to this forum because several times a week i look to the DB-Analyser-Log
and saw these warnings. So I'm not sure whether these warnings could be a problem in the future
and whether perhaps i have to modify some parameters to solve this warnings.
    Thank you and best regards,

  • Database Analysis -Load balance.

    Hi Experts,
There is new db onboraded in our existing database server in upcoming few week. I would like to know what are the thinng we need to check in the terms of CPU and memory utilisation from new database prespective. for example how many ad-hoc queries being
    fired on on server etc..
If you can give me pointers that would be great.
    Shivraj Patil.

For load test, you can see the below link.
    http://www.brentozar.com/archive/2012/06/load-test-sqlserver/
For system resource monitor, you shall do it from server end.
For trace SQL Server events, you can use the

What is " the write-up" that you are preparing?   A justification for granting access to the database?
What are the "issues" that you are supposed to address/investigate?

By default, this privilege is only assigned to BI Administrator Role. I'm sure you are not under BI Administrator Role and that's the reason you can't find DDR option. Ask, you Administrator to provide your application role access to 'Execute Direct Database Analysis' & 'Edit Direct Database Analysis' under Manage Privileges > Answers.
Try using DDR very carefully...You shud understand its pros and cons

  • Fix: Active directory corrupted (NTDS ISAM Database Corruption errors in eventlog)

    It worked for me!
    Frank Keunen
IT-Pro Evangelist :: Microsoft IT Infrastructure Engineer
Follow the procedure below to fix Microsoft Active Directory database problems (corrupted Active Directory due to e.g memory issues/disk problems):
    1. Reboot the server and press F8. Choose Directory Services Restore Mode from the Menu.
    2. Check the physical location of the Winnt\NTDS\ folder.
    3. Check the permissions on the \Winnt\NTDS folder. The default permissions are: Administrators – Full Control System – Full Control
    4. Check the Winnt\Sysvol\Sysvol folder to make sure it is shared.
    5. Check the permissions on the Winnt\Sysvol\Sysvol share. The default permissions are: Share Permissions: —————— Administrators – Full Control Authenticated Users – Full Control Everyone – Read NTFS Permissions: —————– Administrators – Full Control Authenticated
Users – Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Creator Owner – none Server Operators – Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read System – Full Control Note: You may not be able to change the permissions on these folders if the Active Directory
database is unavailable because it is damaged, however it is best to know if the permissions are set correctly before you start the recovery process, as it may not be the database that is the problem.
    6. Make sure there is a folder in the Sysvol share labeled with the correct name for their domain.
    7. Open a command prompt and run NTDSUTIL to verify the paths for the NTDS.dit file. These should match the physical structure from Step 2. To check the file paths type the following commands: Start a command prompt NTDSUTIL Files Info The output should
look similar to: Drive Information: C:\ NTFS (Fixed Drive) free (2.9 Gb) total (3.9 Gb) D:\ NTFS (Fixed Drive) free (3.6 Gb) total (3.9 Gb) DS Path Information: Database : C:\WINNT\NTDS\ntds.dit – 10.1 Mb Backup dir: C:\WINNT\NTDS\dsadata.bak Working dir:
C:\WINNT\NTDS Log dir : C:\WINNT\NTDS – 30.0 Mb total res2.log – 10.0 Mb res1.log – 10.0 Mb edb.log – 10.0 Mb This information is pulled directly from the registry and mismatched paths will cause Active Directory not to start. Type Quit to end the NTDSUTIL
    session.
    8. Rename the edb.chk file and try to boot to Normal mode. If that fails, proceed with the next steps.
    9. Reboot into Directory Services Restore mode again. At the command prompt, use the ESENTUTL to check the integrity of the database. NOTE: You can use NTDSUTIL to check the Integrity, however esentutl is usually more reliable. Type the following command:
ESENTUTL /g “\NTDS.dit” /!10240 /8 /v /x /o (Note: Type the path without the quotes). Note: The default path would be C:\Winnt\NTDS\ntds.dit; however it may be different in some cases. The output will tell you if the database is inconsistent and may produce
a jet_error 1206 stating that the database is corrupt. If the database is inconsistent or corrupt it will need to be recovered or repaired . To recover the database type the following at the command prompt: NTDSUTIL Files Recover If this fails with an error,
type quit until back at the command prompt and repair the database using ESENTUTL by typing the following: ESENTUTL /p “\NTDS.dit” /!10240 /8 /v /x /o (Note: Type the path without the quotes). Note: If you do not put the switches at the end of the command
you will most likely get a Jet_error 1213 “Page size mismatch” error.
    10. Delete the log files in the NTDS directory, but do not delete or move the ntds.dit file.
    11. The NTDSUTIL tool needs to be run again to check the Integrity of the database and to perform a Semantic Database analysis. To check the integrity, at the command prompt type: NTDSUTIL Files Integrity The output should tell you that the integrity check
completed successfully and prompt that you should perform a Semantic Database Analysis. Type quit. To perform the Semantic Database Analysis type the following at the NTDSUTIL Prompt type: Semantic Database Analysis Go The output will tell you that the Analysis
completed successfully. Type quit and closes the command prompt. NOTE: If you get errors running the Analysis then type the following at the semantic checker prompt: semantic checker: go fix This puts the checker in Fixup mode, which should fix whatever errors
    there were.
    12. Reboot the server to Normal Mode. If any of these steps fail to recover the database the only alternative is to perform an Authoritative System State restore from backup in Directory Services Restore mode. For more information, please refer to the following

Frank: This procedure (with some variations required for my environment) worked
    perfectly. Thank you very much.
To other readers: The procedure works, but it is a loaded gun. Be careful and methodical.
The specifics of my situation, which I offer as additional information, are:
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2 with all updates.
One server, 20 clients; of course the server is the domain controller.
I suggest running the command prompt window at an elevated security level ("run as:", followed by unchecking the "restricted" box).
I also suggest changing directories to C:\WINNT\NTDS or C:\WINDOWS\NTDS, as appropriate.
    Variations:
The location of the NTDS folder is C:\WINDOWS\NTDS for an install that is not an upgrade from Server 2000.
Step 9 -- the parameters for ESENTUTL are different. For the integrity check I used "ESENTUTL /g NTDS.DIT /8" as the other parameters are not available.
Also in step 9 -- For the repair step that was required I used "ESENTUTL /p NTDS.DIT /8". There was a window warning of a possible data loss, which clicking OK cleared.
Step 11 -- NTDSUTIL FILES INTEGRITY works properly without change. However, the Semantic Database Analysis check cannot be run in a single command. I used "NTDSUTIL SEMANTIC DATABASE ANALYSIS" followed by "GO" at the next prompt. The database analysis does
not report a positive result, but if there is no warning the database passes the analysis. To be certain I ran the "GO FIX" step anyway, which gave identical output.
After this procedure the system started perfectly. I recommend this procedure as the answer to the problem.

  • "rdmgr -n " commnad utility hangs after purging database

    Hi,
    Version: SunOne Portal 6.0
    I did the following steps:
    1. Started Robot process.
    2. Run command "rdmgr -n". It returns count as 25.
    3. Purge database without stopping the robot.
    4. On running command "rdmgr -n ", it hangs.
Stopped the robot process, restarted robot, restarted portal server but of no avail. It still hangs.
I also tried running option (Database - Analysis) from Admin console but that also hangs.
The problem gets solved only after reinstallation of portal server 6.0.
Any clue what's got wrong or i should install portal server 6.1 instead of 6.0 as i have seen some bugs related to "purge" gets rectified in this version.
    Any help will be appreciated...

I forget to mention that i also run "Database/Expire" option from admin console and there is a bug related to this in 6.0 whose fix has been integrated in 6.1.
Can this bug make rdmgr command hangs in 6.0?
    Any comments???
    From 6.1 release notes:
4812074 - Resource descriptions are not expired cleanly from the main database. The rdmgr -E command leaves the resource descriptions in the index but not in main database.

  • Creating .bat for analyzing the Database.

    Hi Experts,
I am having a doubt in scheduling database analysis process windows 2003 server.
Every Sunday, we have to schedule the database analysis. just view the below example
    sysuser login id : testlogin
    sysuser password: demotest
    connection string: demotest
    file - demo.sql is available in d:\
Now i need to create a .bat file for scheduling purpose.
in the bat file, i want to connect as sysuser and then execute the above mentioned sql file. please suggest me how to give the syntax for connecting to oracle database as sysuser through a .bat file.
One more doubt: we have to analyze the database in sysuser mode only or also in local user mode???
    suggest me about this...
    Thanks in Advance.

oracle recommends generation of statistics using dbms_stats package with
    dbms_jobs package.
You can use following procedure as sys user
    variable jobno number;
    variable instno number;
    begin
    select instance_number into :instno from v$instance;
    dbms_job.submit(:jobno, 'dbms_stats.GATHER_SCHEMA_STATS(ownname=>'<schema Name>,OPTIONS=>''GATHER'',cascade=>TRUE);', TO_DATE('18-JUN-05--21','DD-MON-YY--HH24'), '(SYSDATE+1)', TRUE, :instno);

  • Reconciled amounts appears in vendor aging report

    Dear all,
When we take report for reconciled transactions, reconciled amounts appears in
aging days(Suppose we have ap invoice in 0-30 days and payments made in 30-60 days it's
    already reconciled)
Why it is showing in reconciled aging report ?
    Jeyakanthan

    Dear,
would like to recommend you to refer to the following note: 1228363-Business Partner Balance does not match journal entries。
In any SAP Business One version lower than 2007, 2 separate
reconciliation engines were employed. One reconciliation engine worked
on the marketing document level, where partial reconciliation was
supported & the other worked on the journal entry level, where only
    complete reconciliation was supported.
This duality led in some instances to reconciliation inconsistencies
which were initially highlighted with SAP Business One version 2004
patch level 29, where the red message 'Business Partner balance does not
match journal entries' was displayed when running the ageing report by
sales documents & inconsistencies were detected.
In the year end closing guides (available for download from the
Documentation Resource Centre) SAP have always recommended to run the
    ageing reports by journal posting.
In 2006, SAP published note 752261, now retired, documenting the system
behaviour & offering a series of 'Select' queries to aid in
reconciliation inconsistency analysis. These queries were an excellent
tool but now SAP can offer a faster, better & more accurate solution.
In SAP Business One 2007 A & B the reconciliation engines have been
unified & partial reconciliation on journal entry level is now fully
supported. Any database that is upgraded from a lower version undergoes
a complex series of reconciliation upgrade algorithms, where any
reconciliation inconsistency is identified & a reconciliation upgrade
(RU) journal entry is automatically created. This RU journal does not
document any accounting transaction, but simply creates an update in the
'Balance Due' column, thus notionally re-openeing previously
    inconsistently reconciled transactions.
These RU journals are then available for internal reconciliation.
Please consult the 2007 Internal Reconciliation Upgrade(IRU)Landing
    Page:
Channel Partner Portal -> Solutions -> SAP Business One -> Hot Topics ->
SAP Business One 2007 Information Center -> New Single Reconciliation
Engine- A single engine reconciles the difference and eliminates the
    previous reconciliation issue. More
Click on 'More' to be directed to the IRU Landing Page.
Here you will find 'How-to-Guides' in all supported languages, links to
Expert Training Sessions & links to other pertinent information.
You will also find available for download 2007 A & B upgrade simulation
tools. SAP recommends to subject a database that is planned to be
    upgraded
This upgrade simulation tool employs all internal reconciliation upgrade
algorithms & the application will display in the 'Internal
Reconciliation Upgrade Audit Trail Report' if a database is affected by
    inconcistencies.
Hence, if the message 'Business Partner Balance does not match Journal
Entries' is encountered, proceed as follows:
    Option 1:
Upgrade database to SAP Business One 2007 & internally reconcile any RU
    journals.
    Option 2:
Go to the IRU landing page & download the 'IRU pre-upgrade tool' either
for version 2007A or 2007B, depending on your localisation. Follow the
installation instructions & after successful installation & simulated
upgarde of the database, analyse any inconsistencies appearing with the
help of the How-to-guide. Should a type of inconsistency not have a drop
down arrow & be described as 'Balancing upgrade journal transaction',
the comapny accountant may decide to write it off, should the amount be
insignificant or, if the amount is not insignificant, please log a
    support ticket with the component:
    SBO-ADM-UT-IAT

    Table SAPR3./SAPAPO/ORDKEY contains 8247892 rows(205921 pages), sample rows 20000
    Table SAPR3./SAPAPO/STOCKANC contains 1319385 rows(25413 pages), sample rows 20000
Looks this would affect the processing and the delay may be an issue for CIF queue processing.
Wondering, if sampling could be increased ? is there any oss note available to do this.  This index is implemented using BADI

  • System/Query Performance: What to look for in these tcodes

    Hi
I have been researching on system/query performance in general in the BW environment.
I have seen tcodes such as
    ST02 :Buffer/Table analysis
    ST03 :System workload
    ST03N:
    ST04 : Database monitor
    ST05 : SQL trace
    ST06 :
    ST66:
    ST21:
    ST22:
    SE30: ABAP runtime analysis
    RSRT:Query performance
RSRV: Analysis and repair of BW objects
For example, Note 948066 provides descriptions of these tcodes but what I am not getting are thresholds and their implications. e.g. ST02 gave “tune summary” screen with several rows and columns (?not sure what they are called) with several numerical values.
Is there some information on these rows/columns such as the typical range for each of these columns and rows; and the acceptable figures, and which numbers under which columns suggest what problems?
Basically some type of a metric for each of these indicators provided by these performance tcodes.
Something similar to when you are using an Operating system, and the CPU performance is  consistently over 70%  which may suggest the need to upgrade CPU; while over 90% suggests your system is about to crush, etc.
I will appreciate some guidelines on the use of these tcodes and from your personal experience, which indicators you pay attention to under each tcode and why?
    Thanks

  • Does Position Of Cube Dimension Matter While Adding it as Measure

I've created a cube on the Adventure Works Database. And when tried to process the Cube i get error
Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found when processing: Table: 'dbo_DimProduct', Column: 'ProductKey', Value: '1'. The attribute is 'Product Key'. Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key was converted to an unknown
member because the attribute key was not found. Attribute Product Key of Dimension: Dim Product from Database: Analysis Services Project, Cube: Adventure Works DW, Measure Group: Dim Product, Partition: Dim Product, Record: 1. Errors in the OLAP storage engine:
The process operation ended because the number of errors encountered during processing reached the defined limit of allowable errors for the operation. Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while processing the 'Dim Product' partition of the
'Dim Product' measure group for the 'Adventure Works DW' cube from the Analysis Services Project database.
This is faced When Dimproduct Dimension was added first and later Dimtime Dimension.
I delete Dim Product Database Dimension and have Added it again as both Measure and Cube Dimension and it process succesfully.
Only Difference i've Found is now Dimproduct is listed last in cube dimensions.
Question - Does position of Cube Dimension matters when adding its a Measure?
And what is causing this error?

  • Printing directly to a printer in Oracle 10g

    Friends,
I don't have any experience in SQL writing out to a printer, but this is what I need to do and I was hoping someone could direct me.
I need to generate literal text for a label, otherwise, straight from forms. The label is small, (4" x 2.5") and the text will look like this:
    VDP BLEND BLEND STATION
    Blend#: (Data from database) (DATE)
    Segments: ABC (USERNAME)
    Grade: (Data from database)
    Analysis: (Data from database)
    Sample ID: (Data from database)
    BAR CODE
    BAR CODE
The Hardcoded or literal part of the label would be anything not from the database. I can use Reports to generate the label, but I would need to send it to the printer automatically. I'm use to a language called VGL which uses "Literal" Commands to print text from the code. Can Oracle do that, and if so, How?
Thank you so much for your help.

I tried this but nothing prints:
    DATA: PARAMS LIKE PRI_PARAMS,
          VALID  TYPE C.
    CALL FUNCTION 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
      IMPORTING OUT_PARAMETERS = PARAMS
                VALID          = VALID.
    IF VALID <> SPACE.
NEW-PAGE PRINT ON PARAMETERS PARAMS NO-DIALOG.
      WRITE / MY_LABEL.
      NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF.
    ENDIF.
