Database compare script to sync schema and data
1. I have database-1
2. I have database-2
3. database-1 and database-2 are in same oracle 10g server and are same in schema as well as data
4. All operations will be done with database-1 through my application
5. At the end of the day i need a script which is to be run in the database-2 to have database-1 and database-2
alike ie., both schema and Data should be same
Please anyone suggest me the best solution to get the above script
This script is to be transfered to some other location in our scenario
Thanks in advance
Vivek
Hi Sybrand Bakker,
I tried streams for the replication purpose as per your suggesion, till Iam unable make it work , i dont find a step by step document which will make it possible without error.
One more thing , i need the streams work without Database link, ie., source database is not connected directly to destination database. I need to create streams and transfer the stream as a file through FTP.I need to download stream file in remote location and then apply the streams to destination database and after this source and destination database should be same in data and schema.
Please suggest me a solution to go abt this scenario. We are in critical stage to make it happen...
thanking you in advance
with regards

Oracle DB schema and data comparison tools that compare BLOBs
I'm looking for schema and data comparison tool like DBDiff or DbTools, but it has to be able to compare BLOB and CLOB fields. I went thru few products available on the market but could not find any that does that.
Can you please recommend tool that will help me with it.
Thanks,
EHi.
I use Comparenicus for Oracle from Orbium Software. It compares data and schema, CLOBs, BLOBs..
It can also handle large tables which is very useful for some of my environments.
Last (but not least) it has a unique feature for copying selective data from one DB to another. You can read about it this post:

Sales schema and data load script
Hi,
I am trying to learn OBIEE on my own. i managed to install oracle XE and OBIEE 10g. I need a script to create a new db schema and load sales tables with sample data to create reports. can anyone help me with the scripts?AsI mentioned, i dont this these scripts will come with a XE installl...primarily because XE may not be certified with the sample schema. This is why I would recommend you try to install the full DB instead of trying to run these scripts on XE.
Did you try to install the ACTUAL Oracle DB Enterprise Edition? I believe there is a examples part to the install that will have these scripts. Please try this and let me know.
If this helped, please mark as helpful or correct. -
How to export app +underlying schema(and data)
Hi
I am trying to export my application and its underlying tables to a new system .
I want to know if it can be done together and not seperately..(export app and then export each table)
Is there away to package the app and its underlying repository?
ThanksNo....
You will have to do them seperately as there is no logical connection between the application and the tables.
Your application just has the access to use those tables and does not "own" any of them.
a) Oracle database tables/ application tables
You can export the entire schema and all the objects and data in that schema using the export and import utilities.
All these objects are owned by the schema (eg. emp under scott) and hence are related logically.
b) Oracle apex metadata tables.
All the information about apex objects is stored as metadata in database tables (FLOWS_0300 is a schema).
So, if you install Oracle apex on a new machine, all these repository tables will be created.
When you create applications / objects, these tables will have metadata for those applications.
Hope this helps,
Rajesh. -
Importing SQL Server Schema and Data
What is the best way to go about importing schema objects (tables, contstraints, triggers, stored procs, etc.) and data from SQL Server to Oracle?
No offence taken :)
But I have copied data from SQL Server DB to Oracle using SQL Server Enterprise manager Data transformation services.
About 30 tables with summary amount a few hundred thousand rows (~300K) took about 1.5 hour.
Did it several times when tested and run for production in a data conversion project. Of course when copied to Oracle all data was processed to adapt for our new data model, but that is another story.
It was quick and easy solution. OK if one needs to copy at least a few M rows then probably he needs to look for different tools.

IOS Still Won't Sync Documents and Data
For about four months I haven't been able to use iCloud's documents and data on my iOS devices. AppleCare have tried to help but I'm still getting nowhere.
If I open an iWork app on my Mac it shows me the files which are stored on iCloud. I can go into Safari, upload or delete a file and it's reflected live in the apps on my Mac. If on my iOS devices I open up, say, Pages and I'm met with the lone "Getting Started" document. I've gone into the iCloud settings and documents and data is on and then checked the settings in Pages, Keynote, and Numbers and they're all set up to use iCloud.
I have toggled these iCloud settings, deleted my iCloud account across the Mac, iPad, and iPhone and the iOS devices are still not showing any of my documents. I've gone as far as resetting my iPhone and iPad to factory settings, restoring the devices and still getting nothing. I even formatted and did a clean install of Mountain Lion on my Mac but still no luck.
If I go to Settings > General > Usage, iCloud > Manage Storage and look at Documents & Data > Pages -- it displays a list of the files up on iCloud. Same with Keynote and Numbers.
The iOS side can see the documents up in iCloud but won't show them in the appropriate iWork apps while the Mac and iCloud sync quite happily. I should say that Calendars, Mail, Reminders – everything but documents and data – work perfectly. Just documents and data. AppleCare had engineers reset my account but still no luck.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
ThanksHmmm, I'm able to sync fine with Outlook 2003. Unfortunately, the iPhone won't sync with any Outlook versions prior to that one.
I was upset and frustrated too, but some savvy net searching yielded a fully licensed, legit copy of Outlook 2003 for less than $40. I actually like it better than previous versions of Outlook and see it as a great upgrade, and it syncs with the iPhone. Upon installation, it brought over my old Calendar, Contacts, etc. It's all there.
I've ditched using Yahoo! calendar and contacts as I never felt comfortable with putting my friends and family's information on the internet.
Hope this helps. Cheers! -
Why do my videos freeze when I try to sync video and data?
When using DIAdem 2010 to view synchorized video and data, it always works well on the first playback. But then on subsquent playbacks the video will freeze while the data keeps playing. I'm using MP4 videos. I'm thinking it's not related to the PC - we just upgraded to a machine with a Quad i7 processer and 16GB RAM.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there are a particluar codec the video should be saved with?Hi Gatsby,
Please refer to the following Help documentation on Codecs: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370859H-01/genview/genview/view_video_format/

Sample schema and data downloads?
I have installed oracle and I wish to test it with a substantial schema installed, with enough data to simulate a production level database.
I was wondering if online there were any large sample schemas, with large amounts of data (in sql loader .dat files?) that could be downloaded. My search so far has not been successful.
If possible I would like to get a schema with very large number of tables and many thousands of lines of data.First thing: you'd be better generating a dataset to match your particular requirements.
However, If you're thinking about a data warehouse, you could do worse than borrow the Mondrian 'Foodmart' test dataset. That contains 328k rows of data (so pretty small, but not trivial). See http://mondrian.sourceforge.net/.
Alternatively, lots of people start with datasets based on Northwind - the well known Access/SQL Server dataset. There's an article here http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/gagne_access.html on how to extract the necessary DDL using the mdbtools utilities.

Database Diff script creates redundant indexes and fails
In Version 4.1.0.18, I create a table such that the primary key constraint and unique index have the same name:
CREATE TABLE "MY_TABLE"
( "CORP_ID" CHAR(2 BYTE),
"COMPANY_ID" NUMBER(5,0),
CONSTRAINT "PK_MY_TABLE" PRIMARY KEY ("CORP_ID", "COMPANY_ID") ENABLE
The DDL export of this table yields a different approach but the same end results:
CREATE TABLE "MY_TABLE"
( "CORP_ID" CHAR(2 BYTE),
"COMPANY_ID" NUMBER(5,0)
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "PK_MY_TABLE" ON "MY_TABLE" ("CORP_ID", "COMPANY_ID");
ALTER TABLE "MY_TABLE" ADD CONSTRAINT "PK_MY_TABLE" PRIMARY KEY ("CORP_ID", "COMPANY_ID") ENABLE;
Perfectly fine - no issue there.
But if I do a complete Database Diff (all object types) and the target database is missing the table, the resulting script uses a combined approach:
CREATE TABLE "MY_TABLE"
( "CORP_ID" CHAR(2) NOT NULL ENABLE,
"GL_ACCOUNT" VARCHAR2(16),
CONSTRAINT "PK_MY_TABLE" PRIMARY KEY ("CORP_ID","COMPANY_ID") ENABLE
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX ."PK_MY_TABLE" ON "MY_TABLE" ("CORP_ID","COMPANY_ID");
In this script, the CREATE TABLE will correctly create both the constraint and index. Therefore the CREATE INDEX fails because the index already exists. In this script, the CREATE TABLE will correctly create both the constraint and index. Therefore the CREATE INDEX fails because the index already exists.
Can't help you beyond saying that is a bug since the DIFF should NOT do both of those.
Someone from the sql dev team will need to tell you if the bug is in sql dev or the package sql dev is using to do the diff.
Can you open the log window and review the SQL being generated/executed by sql dev?
Sql Dev is likely using the DBMS_METADATA_DIFF package to generate the diff:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e40758/d_metadiff.htm
If they are using it correctly but you get that error then it is an Oracle DB bug that needs to be filed.
If sql dev is using the package incorrectly then sql dev has a bug and the team can address that.
Sorry I can't help you more. -
Grants for physical schema and data-servers
Hi,
I'd like to know
What are the Grants needed for the Owners of each physical schema?
For example: Grants DDL (drop table n) and DML (select / update / delete / insert).
Grants needed for the users' connection data-servers?
BovoliniIt depends on what technology you plan to use.
If you plan to use Oracle - Is the data server connection user different from the owner of the physical schemas ?
In addition to the connect, resource to each of these users, you will also need to give data server connection user privileges on the objects of the owner of the physical schemas. -
Relational schema and difference berween relational schame and data base schema ?
Hi ,
Am new to Database
Can u help me to understand relational schema and data base schema ?
thanksHi Neil,
I'm not good with the relational schema, which is being deprecated. Given your results though, you might try
doing a count of distinct GIDs in the index table and compare it with the number of distinct geometries to make sure
your index is complete.
Also, if you have quadtree indexes at the same level in both Object-relational and relational then you can compare the
number of index entries in both models.
Hope this helps,

Forms pulling Multiple Records from an XML Schema and XML data files - Adobe LiveCycle Designer
I built a form in Adobe LiveCycle with an xml schema and data file. The problem is with how the form renders the xml data file.
I have a statement element that consists of about 6 fields (statementID, statementName, statementAddress, statementCountry, statementZip, statementDate, etc) of data in the schema that allows for multiple iterations - so one xml data file can contain multiple statements. These fields allow for null values.
But here's the problem: When any of the statements - say statement 2 of 6 - has a null value in one of the fields, if the xml data file doesn't have a placeholder
(example of placeholder: <statementName type="String"/> )in the xml for that field, my form pulls the field value from the NEXT statement.
This corrupts all the rest of the statement records, as this field is shifted up for all the rest.
I know that in the past I haven't needed a placeholder when a field was null. But I'm wondering if when the data allows for multiple records the xml data file needs to generate the placeholder. And where is the problem? In the Schema? The xml data file? My form? And the 64-thousand-dollar question: How to fix it?If your <statement> element is the one that repeats, it should be bound to a subform with the binding string of something like $.statement[*]. Then in that subform should be your fields and they should have bindings of $.statementID, $.statementName, $.statementAddress, etc.

CC application file sync issue and CC App broken menu..
1. File sync from Photoshop CC has stopped working.
Photoshop reports the last sync time and date in edit>sync settings.
However in my Application settings I get the following..
Application settings are synced between many of your favorite desktop applications and Creative Cloud, allowing you to work consistently from any machine. To begin syncing, you will need to open your desktop application and click "Sync Settings Now".
You currently do not have any synced settings.
2. I have missing menu items in the CC app cog menu (I assume as reported on other threads) including "stop syncing", preferences/settings and other blank or greyed out items.
Prior to that I had the also reported dead CC app issue and uninstalled and reinstalled the app, which fixed dead app but left the munu broken.Hallo over there

Since the CC app messed up again and yet another reinstall, it is working (sort of, after several sync failures of lrcat) properly, including the menu, all be it very slowly considering the fast upload I have.
As is the setting sync finally.
Thanks for keeping me informed, oh wait, you didn't!

Synchronize Video and Data - DIAdem Version?
Which version of DIAdem is needed to sync video and data playback? Can I sync two videos at the same time with one data source or does it have to be one video with one data source?
Nathan - Certified LabVIEW Developer
Solved!
Go to Solution.Just for future reference, should anyone be looking at this thread for more information:
This link has a table with all major DIAdem features and what type of license (Base, Advanced or Professional) is required to use these features:
http://www.ni.com/diadem/buy/
The Professional license adds
3D model data mapping
GPS map layouts
to the features already present in the Advanced version (including video synchronization).
This page has a very detailed list of features, with more in depth descriptions and screen shots:

Using TOAD and SQL Developer to compare db objects in schemas in databases
Hi All,
My primary objective was to compare objects in schemas in two different databases and find out the differences,
Execute DDL's in the database where objects are missing and syn schemas in two different databases.
So I need to compare schemas in databases. Which tool would be helpful and will be user friendly to make a comparison of database objects existing in schemas in two different databases.
I'd like to see if I can get a list of pro and cons between Toad and SQL Developer for comparing schemas pros and cons.
Could you please also help me on navigation in SQL Developer to compare schemas.
Connect to Source
Connect to Target
Compare schemas with different object types
Find out differences
Generate DDL's for the missing objects or for the objects in difference report
Run them in missing instace(Source/Target)
Make sure both are in sync.
Thanks AllHi,
Most dba type tools have this kind of functionality - personally i use plsqldeveloper but this is very similar to most other tools on the market. SQL Developer seems to rely on you needing the change management pack licence which you likely dont have and would be quite a large cost to roll out.
I'd compare plsqldeveloper/toad/sqlnavigator etc and maybe the tools from redgate which look pretty good though i haven't used them.

Harry

Instal Bioperl on a macbook pro?
Hello Does anyone know how to instal Bioperl on a macbook pro? I have done I on a windows using the perl package manager, but I'm not able to open it. I have read that you can instal it via the command line, but I don't have a lot of experience with
