Hello,
I recommend to post this query to the [BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to administration and configuration of BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, and Crystal Reports Server.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all BOE Administration queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • CR 2008 on SAP BW : Error on file filename : Database Connector Error

    Hi,
We are facing a rather strange problem in our Prod box.
When we run a CR with a mandatory parameter from EP or Infoview,
For the first available LOV on Plant,  (Plant is the Mandatory Parameter entry for the report)
    For the first execution,
the Crystal report fails to execute and throws the following error.
Error on file <filename>: Database Connector Error
When we re-run the report with the same parameters, it executes and displays the result.
We are using Crystal Reports 2008 on SAP BW Query with SAP BW MDX Driver
Since the users currently access this report, we need this get resolved asap.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Error in File (report server\ report.rpt):  Database Connector Error

New installation of XI R2 - using Crystal Reports Version 11.5.8.826 for developement against Oracle DB.
Currently have around 20 reports running on XI (need to import ~1500 reports from Crystal Enterprise 10, but waiting to resolve this issue)
Some reports sometimes (not always) get the following error:
Error in File (report server\ report.rpt):  Database Connector Error
If the report is re-scheduled, report will sometime run fine and sometimes gets the same error again.
There seems to be no logical way to determine which parameters will cause the report to fail or when.
I'm experiencing the problem on about 3 reports only - All against the same DB and only occassionally.  These 20 reports were developed with CR XI and all run against the same Oracle DB.

I've got the same problem- the reports run fine in Crystal, but sometimes (not everytime) they fail in InfoView with "Database Connector Error" message. My report doesn't contain any data, just 8 sets of 4 subreports in different footer sections, which each connect to a different stored procedure. The report is to help with our server checks: we have a set of 4 different stored procedures which run on each of 8 different servers making 32 different SPs and there is a subreport in this report for each.
It does seem to be random whether this problem occurs or not- I have scheduled the report to run regularly (1 recurring instance) and sometime it works, sometimes not, but always the same failure message. I have increased the success rate by allowing the report to re-try on failure, but this does take time, and isn't really curing the problem.
I wonder whether this error could be caused by a delay in one of the SPs returning its data, and the report timing out since no data is being returned. Would anyone know whether this is likely to be the cause, and if so how to fix it? Or any suggestions what else it could be?
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Unknown Database Connector Error   Details: "Failed to retrieve SQL Error"

    Hi
Getting "Failed to retrieve SQL Error" while trying to refresh the Crystal report.
Unable to create a new report also
    This is my ERROR MESSAGE
"Unknown Database Connector Error   Details: "Failed to retrieve SQL Error"
Previous Error: Query generated multiple SQL statements. However multiple SQL is not supported in crystal reports query panel"
    Any Suggestion.

    Hi,
Please note that any query that generates multiple SQL statements is not supported in the Query Panel in Crystal Reports.
I guess this Universe is generating multiple SQLs and hence the error.
I found this option while I was searching for something else: Could you try turning off the "Multiple SQL statement for each measure" in the Universe parameters and see if it works?
Also, here's the Universe Support Guide, although old, it is still applicable:

  • Database Connector error: 'cannot obtain error message from server'

I am using Oracle stored procedures and I have used IN parameters for input and INOUT parameter of REF_CURSOR TYPE for returning resultset in Crystal Report 2008 by using package. Now when I am trying to add the package in the Crystal Report, parameter input box prompts, I enter some values and gets Database Connector error: 'cannot obtain error message from server'.
But when I do not use INPUT parameters and use OUT parameter of REF_CURSOR type it runs well without any issues.
We are using ODBC connection for Oracle.
    Kindly suggest.

    Hello,
Search the Knowledge Base for "oracle store procedures" and you'll find a document on how to write a SP so CR can use them.
    Thank you

  • Unknown Database connector Error - Crystal Reports 2008 and OLE DB

    Hi,
I want to create a report based on OLE DB provider.
Once I Select it from the Database Expert list I get this Error: "Unknown Database Connector Error", and the list is empty.
I am using Crystal Reports 2008 on Win XP SP2.
SQL Server 2005 is installed on the local machine.
If I create a UDL File and double click, I can see all OLE DB Providers on the machine.
    What am I missing ?
    Thanks,
    Yuval.

    Hi Friends,
Thank you all for trying to help.
    - The installed MDAC version is 2.8 (It comes with XP SP2). I have tried installing it again and it says that it is already installed.
    - I am not using a bussiness view. Just the simplest blank report in CR2008. I am not able to start it using OLE DB, once I want to choose a provider - I get the error, before even entering connection details such as username and password.
    - I am able to build an ODBC report, but when trying to view it using Crystal Reports Windows Form Viewer (from within a .Net application) I get an error: "Failed to Open The Connection". It happens also with reports built on other machines using OLE DB.
Same report works fine with the same application on different machines and I cannot figure out what is the difference.
I think Something on my machine is not right.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks,
    Yuval.

  • Database connector error - building crystal xir2 report from univ?

    Folks,
I am attempting to create a crystal xir2 report using an otherwise fully functional universe, one that has other webi docs already created. After opening crystal and selecting new report, I log onto the BO server and select objects from the Univ to build the query. Hovever, I get 'Unknown database connector error' when clicking OK.
I recently installed crystal xir2, the same version as my bo server. I checked the cmc and am using the same credentials when logging onto bo enterprise to select the univ from within crystal. Any ideas what is causing this and how to correct the issue?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I'm going to move this over to the Report Design forum. Someone there should be able to sort this out for you. I doubt it's a DB connection problem but something in the Universe causing Cr to fail.
Seems no one in the Report Designer forum has any suggestions so I'm again moving this to the Universe Designer forum.
    Thanks you
    Don

  • Crystal Report throws Unexpected Database Connector error

    Hi,<br>
    <br>
We are using Crystal report 2008 CR4E API to implement the crystal report in our application. We use the below code to reset the report data source with our application data source. It works fine for most of the simple queries. But if the query contains any function defined in the SELECT Clause it throws Unexpected Database Connector error. As per the log and analysis we believe the root cause of the exception is it consider that function as column in the table and throws the SQL Exception that "function is Invalid Identifier". Could you please help in resolving this issue?

i'm also getting the same error when i'm trying to call stored procedure (that will fetch the result set and populate the report) through the query in the report-viewer.jsp. The result set is fetched i.e. when i print the result set it shows on tomcat but it is not getting passed to Table object to populate the report. However when i try to give the query explicitly in the form of SELECT statements, it works fine i.e. i can view the report in the browser. But giving query in the form of SELECT is a very naive way and is ok if u have too less reports not requiring too many joins, thats why i was using stored procedure. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Database Connector Error in Crystal Reports

    Hi,
I have a report which has two sub reports. One of the sub reports use a view to fetch data while the other uses a SP. Now the problem that i am facing is as follows-
The sub-report using the stored procedure fails when i execute the main report but if i first execute the sub report with the SP, and then again run the main report, it works fine.
I tried an ODBC trace to find out why this was failing. When the main report is run for the first time, the sub report was not executed properly. The sub report uses a SP which expects two parameters. So at the first run, only one parameter gets passed to the sub report. however on the second run, the sub report successfully gets both the parameters.
The error that is encountered says:
Database Connector Error: 'HY000:[DataDirect][ODBC Oracle driver][Oracle]ORA-06550: line 1, column 58: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol ")" when expecting one of the following:
(-+ case mod new not null others <an identifier>
    <a double-quoted delimited-identifier> <a bind variable> avg
count current exists max min prior sql stddev sum variance
execute for all merge time timestamp interval date......
Could any one please help on this one? I am almost crazy trying to figure this out.
    Regards,
    Rashmi.

  • Database connector error:Unexpected when connecting to salesforce in CR2008

ISSUE:: Unable to connect to salesforce in CR2008 as when he tries to select the table in the Database expert he gets an error 'Database connector error: Unexpected' however he is able to connect to salesforce and then select the tables using CR XI R2
    Observed Behavior:
    - The customer is able to  connect to salesforce and then select the tables in CR XI R2 however when he tries to select the table through CR 2008 he gets an error 'Database connector error: Unexpected'.
    - He does not have an issue switching Windows accounts.  He can log in to Salesforce.com from Crystal Reports XIR2 and 2008 using a SFDC account with restricted access from my Windows account.  However, he is not able to log in to SFDC using the system administrator SFDC account in Crystal Reports 2008, but is able to using Crystal Reports XIR2.  This applies to the production and sandbox SFDC environment.
    - He can update data on all reports using CR2008 if the report was created in CRXIR2.  He cannot access any data from reports created with CR2008.
    Expected Behavior:
    - Should be able to select the tables and create reports based off it.
    Steps to reproduce:
    - Open Crystal Reports 2008 and then connect to salesforce with the credentials provided by the user i.e.
    test.nussbaumer @cit.com.test
    crystal2008
    token:  LxYbugxsVmGpRL1QOVIC2q0e  '
    This gives an error:
'Logon failed. Details: Unexpected Error; nested exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: www.salesforce.com
What has been done so far:
-Have tried the repair on CR 2008 but didn't help.
    - The customer has tried some user credentials for a different user in his SFDC instance and was also able to login.  He realized that only the system administrator is not able to login.  Customer had sent the sample credentials for a test system administrator profile in his sandbox environment.  (test.salesforce.com) , used that on my end to connect however it gave the error :'Logon failed. Details: Unexpected Error; nested exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: www.salesforce.com'
    test.nussbaumer @cit.com.test
    crystal2008
    token:  LxYbugxsVmGpRL1QOVIC2q0e
To access the Sandbox, he uses test.salesforce.com as the server when connecting with Cyrstal Reports 2008.
    - He reset the password and received the same error.  He can access Salesforce.com with CR XI R2, but not with CR2008.
    - He set up a new computer with only JDK 1.4 on it, using Windows XP Professional and received the same error. His comments:
( I don't believe that this has anything to do with the JDK version, but rather with the size of the metadata in SFDC.  If I login as the administrator, I receive the error in CR2008.  However, as mentioned before, if I login as a standard user I am able to use CR2008.)
We tried resetting the User Security token by follwoing the below steps(A security token is not needed for login as I am using a trusted network by SFDC):
Steps for Resetting a User Security Token:
1.) To reset your security token, click Setup | My Personal Information | Reset Security Token, and click the Reset Security Token button. The new security token is sent via email to the email address on your Salesforce user record.
2.) You will need to login by entering your username and then your password + security token (without the +).
    - Modified the CRConfig.XML file for the proxy server settings and then tried connecting to pull up the tables however still gave the same error.
    Configuration:
    Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600
    CRXIR2 - 11.5.9.1076
    CR2008 - 12.0.0.683
    J2SE Development Kit 1.5.0.60
He is using JDK 1.6 (file: jre1.6.0_05).  He tried installing JDK 1.4 and pointing to the file:  jre1.4.2_17 but had no success.

  • Unexpected Database Connector Error - Help please !!

    Hi,
I am trying to use stored procedure in the crystal report, that comes bundled with RAD7. The following code I got from http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/520 for using the stored procedure. I am getting 'UnexpectedQueryEngineError' on JRCCommunicationAdapter when trying to establish data connection to add the stored procedure to the report. I tried the same example above for adding table to the report by modifying 'Procedure' to 'Table' and it worked fine.
I really need to use the stored procedure in the report and get to have this working soon. Immediate help is greatly appreciated.

    Hell Ted Ueda,
Thanks for your reply, and did you downloaded my project files ? if not then please download it first.. because i retrieving data from the POJO not from any database.. from database its working fine but in case of POJO its not, because i wanna retrieve data dynamically from directly fields to report, means that user will fill all the information in the text box (Swing) and when he click on the button then the data from the text box should be pushed to report file and also should have to saved in the database.. so please download my project file... and help me...

  • Error in file filename : Database Connector Error

    Dears,
I face a problem from several days with one of my deployed reports to CMS.
The problem is the same reports run for some users and other users keeps to give them this error:
Error in file <filename>: Database Connector Error
Note: there is no filteration or any condition on users name and data resulted from this report is one for all users.
I tried everything, even i remove all objects from the report and keep only page headers it works.
But, if i readded any field from my DB object in crystal report the error appears again.
    Please help, Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
You are using the original release of Cr XI R2. This has likely been fixed after applying all Service Packs and Fix Packs.
You should update the BOE Servers also so before doing so please check with the BOE Administrator.
To get the BOE patches you have to log into Service Market Place. To get CR patches make sure you have your keycode saved and available.
Uninstall CR using the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and then use the Full version of CR XI R2 Service Pack 4 and you can then apply SP 6, if it requires SP 5 first please do so:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100011802732008E/crxir2_sp4_full_build.exe
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100013876392008E/crxir2win_sp5.exe
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100015859952009E/crxir2win_sp6.exe
We do recommend that BOE and CR be on the same patch level.
    Thank you

    Good Afternoon,

  • Unable to retrieve Object.Error in File: Unknown Database Connector Error

    Hi,
I have deployed two report on BO XI server. Both the reports are designed in Crystal Report designer XI.
I got all database credentilas, saved in CMC by my administrator so that these reports should not prompt me for any database login parameters when I am trying to run them from BOXI test server.
When I am running one of my report, the report is working fine. But this is not the case with other report.
This second report is working well with some inputs.
Case 1 - It is having to input date parameter(Date1 and Date2), when I am entering one input date parameter (Date1) and other (Date2) is set to NULL, it is displaying correct result. But when I am giving any date for Date2 it is throwing me an error -
"Error in File Manager_Agent_Report.rpt: Unknown Database Connector Error
    Unable to retrieve Object.
Error in File Manager_Agent_Report.rpt: Unknown Database Connector Error "
Case 2 - Similiarly it is having an other input field which I am using in filetering the records in Report.
If I am setting it to NULL or If I am not giving this field, while entering the input. I am getting an output.
But incase I am giving this particular field then again it is promptig me the  above mentioned error.
The report are working fine if I am executing them from crystal report designer.
Please help me to find a solution for the same.
    Thanks
    Deepak

Deepak, firstly are you trying to connect to one database or two in these reports? I would check the ODBC connections both in server and client machine (testing server or whatever you testing it on). Make sure both connection settings are exactly the same.
Secondly I will check the parameters values under Objects under the CMC and see if there is anything changed there.
Report back if you have checked both and it still giving errors
    Regards
    Jehanzeb
