Database crash when drilling into a Dimension

Hi All,
This is a bit strange but I can reproduce it in both my Production and Development environment.
My problem is that I have a dimension with a cube (contains 7 dimensions in total) that if I drill down on this dimension from within the Excel Add-in I can crash the database - i.e. the Oracle Service stops. This problem doesn't occur with any of the other dimensions and I definitely used to be able to drill down on this dimension without any problems - maybe a couple of months ago. Our data would have increased since then but not to the extent that I would expect to cause any issues.
This particular dimension has 10,500 records in it and the cube has 12,000 records.
I am using AWM 10.2.0.3.0 and version 10.1.2.2.10 of the Excel Add-in.
Has anyone ever come across this before? I've discussed it with both my DBA and my Infrastructure team and we can't really isolate what is causing the problem. Any ideas?
Thanks,
LM

Sorry Keith,
Got the database wrong. We are actually on 10.2.0.1.
There doesn't seem to be anything different about this dimension, that's what's really strange about it. The dimension itself list Policy Identifier's so is something that is growing quite quickly every day. It only has two levels - All Policies and then the indiviual policy. There was definitely a point a couple months ago that I could drill down into this dimension without any errors, so I can only attribute the problem to an increase in data.
I can reproduce this same problem in 3 different environments. When this occurs there is nothing in the alert log other than to say the service failed and there is nothing in any trace files.
My dba has now raised an SR with Oracle and the suggestion is to upgrade to 10.2.0.3 and apply the necessary patchset. The reasoning behind this was that there were lots of issues with 10.2.0.1 and that 10.2.0.3 is a lot more stable around OLAP particularly on a Windows platform. The consultant was suggesting that as the dimension is getting close to 20,000 records this could be the problem.
To test this suggestion we created a separate server and db initially with 10.2.0.1 and can recreate the problem. My dba is then going to apply 10.2.0.3 to this along with the patchset and we'll test again and see if it has resolved.
I'll keep this post updated with how we get on just in case anyone else comes across the same problem.
Thanks for your response,
LM

  • SAP crashing when drilling to a landed cost document

    Hi all,
We are having the problem whereby SAP crashes every time we drill to a landed cost document.
If you go to Chart of Accounts, drill into specific account code, you will see some landed cost journals and when you drill into any origin number to go to the document, at this point SAP B1 will crash.
Other users and computers are affected by the same problem. I think it could be bug, but I'm not sure.
Did anybody find the same problem with SAP 8.8 PL19?
    Many thanks
    Milan

    Hi Milan,
If you can reproduce it in test environment, it could be a bug. Just log a message to SAP support then.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Database crashes when placed in Archivelog mode

My production database continues to crash when I place it in Archivelog mode. This happen especially during the period most of the heavy jobs is running. On the other hand, I created a clone of this very same database on another server in Archivelog mode and it is running great. It’s also honest to say the jobs that run on the production are not running in the clone.
    Any advice will be appreciated.

  • IPad photo app crashes when zooming into pictures

I have about 15 GB of photos on this iPad- and the photo app crashes any time I try to pinch to zoom into a picture. anyone else having this problem? what's the deal? works sometimes but crashes 2 out of three times.

Did you get any fruitful answers from an Apple Genius? Sure wouldn't mind saving myself a trip. Thanks.
    Nutshell:
I've had two iPads thus far where I cannot use the Photos app because anytime I scroll it crashes.
I had my first iPad replaced since it couldn't play any video without the entire machine locking up and requiring a forced restart. (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11320267&#11320267 ) The Photos app on my first iPad would also crash anytime I attempted to scroll through my photos.
Now, the Photos app on my second, replacement iPad is behaving the same way, it always crashes when I scroll.
    Observations:
    • I didn't put any of the same photos back on my replacement iPad, I started with an empty Photos app which ever since only contains images that I've saved to the Photos app from other apps on the iPad, e.g. screenshots, saving images from Safari, Mail, etc.
    • I did test drive the Photos app after having saved only a handful of images ( ≈ 30 imgs) and was happy to see that it DID NOT crash. Unfortunately it wasn't long after, having had saved a handful or so more images to the photo library that the app again began to crash anytime I would begin scrolling down through images.

  • Why is my iPad crashing when going into Wifi in the control panel?

Very bizarre incident I had today when I was at a local coffeeshop in my neighorhood.  I was attempting to connect to their Wifi and everytime I tried to go into Wifi Settings on my iPad the iPad would crash.  EVERYTIME.  I tried rebooting, hard reset, even reset network settings, and cleared all running programs and it would continue to crash.  Running 6.1.3
Even more odd, my iPhone 5 running 6.1.4 would crash too when selected wifi settings.
I walked out of the building and everything worked.
Incredibly odd, but why did this happen?  I couldn't select ANY wifi network it would just crash anytime.
    Wrong place, wrong time?

That's how I see it. Something in that WiFi network did not agree with your devices. I don't know how else to explain it. If everything is working OK with regard to WiFi everywhere else and you are having no other problems with the phone or the iPad, I would just stay away from that WiFi network.

  • Flash Player crashes when going into full screen mode

Hey guys! It's basically as the title implies. Whenever I am watching a video and attempt to go into full screen mode, flash player crashes and I get an error window reading "Adobe Flash Player 11.3 r300 has stopped working". As a matter of fact, it doesn't even happen all the time. It happens most of the time, however. It has happened even immediately after searching for and installing the newest version. What might be causing this and what can I do to resolve it? I am using Windows 7 32-bit and Firefox as my browser.
    Thanks in advance friends!

this may be hardware related.  try unselecting  "Hardware Acceleration..."
right click a movie or flash content and uncheck the box in the first tab in Settings.  quit out of the browser and try fullscreen again.

  • Mountain Lion crashes when going into deep sleep?

    Hey guys,
I recently upgraded to mountain lion from lion on a late 2011 MBP.
I have no problems during the day time with anything, but when I leave the computer to sleep overnight it doesn't wake up in the morning.
It shuts down and when I try to turn it on it gives me a pattern of 3 consecutive beeps. Sometimes it doesn't give me any beeps and just gives me a grayed out login screen and a bar loading on the bottom. In the latter case, it does eventually wake up but with the beeps it's a no go and I have to hold the power button to restart it. I never had any of these problems in Lion. Any thoughts as to what this could be?
I tried PRAM, SMC Reset and creating a new user account. I also ran an extended Apple hardware test which reported no issues.
This is the log preceding the crash/shutdown:

I can't deal with this issue, because I like to use my macbook to charge devices overnight and that's not possible with it shutting down. So if there is no solution what's the best way to go back to Lion?
Am I the only one with this issue?
    Thanks for any help.

It sure would be useful to be able to look up these Failure codes.  Searching apple's site like this produces strange, useless results.
I see Failure code:0x1F006500, like the OP; googling for it brought me here.
    Similarly:
I recently upgraded to mountain lion from SL on a MacBookPro4,1 -early 2008 MBP (expired AppleCare), and switched to booting off an SSD in the ExpressCard/34 slot.
When I leave the computer to sleep overnight it doesn't wake up in the morning.  It is completely off, and boots from scratch when I turn it on. It can sleep briefly.
I have NOT tried PRAM, SMC Reset or creating a new user account, or run an extended Apple hardware test.
From the output of pmset -g log
    9/27/12 7:39:04 AM PDT   Sleep
Sleep (Failure code:0x1F006500): Using BATT (Charge:48%)
Strangely, there's no mention of 'hibernate' in my log files after 19:03 last night, even though I was up 'till 'round midnight.

I suppose that means something sent it the kill -9 signal.  I wonder what.

  • Safari crashes when loging into sites

  • Safari crashes when logging into websites behind authenticated proxy

    Hi,
After the most recent automatic updates, Safari has now taken to crashing whenever I try to login to sites like gmail or hotmail. This only occurs at my home where I access the internet through an authenticated proxy (Unix-based using Squid) but at college I have no problems logging in. Since the crash reporter also can't get past the authenticated proxy I can't submit the report that way. So,
    (a) does anyone else have this problem? (There is at least one other person using a new macbook on the same network as me, and he's having this problem)
    (b) if no one has a solution, can I submit the crash report some other way so that Apple can fix this?
    Thanks,
    Russell
PS. I tried Authoxy the other morning but couldn't get it to work. It wasn't authenticating and so couldn't access the internet. But I have a simple pac file that works fine for Safari. Of course, iTunes and similar programs are a dead loss. So a more general improvement in my proxy situation would also be appreciated.

    Hi Russ
    Welcome to Apple Discussions

  • The developer 3 crashed, when i exported the data out xls ,why?

i have been reinstall office and developer 3,but it still no echo.
    why?
    thanks.

Try to be more definitive when posting. For instance, give the amount of records to be exported.
There are several reason SQL Dev got crashed when exporting into XLS file.
Usually this happened because the number of rows to be exported from the database is so big and therefore caused Java out of memory problem.
Eventhough, you are using the latest version of Office 2010, with its Excel (xlsx) could hold up to 1 million records, SQL Dev 3 currently does not able to export it into xlsx format.
There is solution for this by increasing Java heap memory.
Well, for me, the easier solution for exporting massive data (more than 65K records) is to export them using csv format. Then, you can proceed opening the csv on Excel.

  • Exception while drilling into data object values

    Hi everyone,
I get the following exception : String was not recognized as a valid DateTime, when drilling into data values. This occurs specifically when drilling into reports that have datetime series or groups on the non-data axis. More specifically, the error doesnt occur when I drill into the report to show all values. It occurs when I drill into the report to show values for a particular time period (say, all sales in the month of Jan) instead of drilling to show details of all sales.

Fixed!! The timezone on the BAM server was changed to GMT, and that somehow solved the problem. Seems like the GMT offset should be zero while executing a drill down query.

  • Muse theme template onegenius.muse keeps crashing when entering Preview mode

I downloaded the Muse theme template onegenius.muse and it consistently crashes when put into preview mode.  I have updated Adobe Air as well as the most up to date Muse version. Here's the interesting piece, now - This does not happen with any of the previous muse websites I have worked on. Just this template I downloaded from muse-themes.com. Here is the direct link to that template: http://www.muse-themes.com/products/onegenius What are my next steps? I have "saved as", relinked assets...everything I could think of! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
