  • What version of Database is required to using JHeadstart?

What version of Database is required to using JHeadstart?

    Question
    ========
    1) Do you have to upgrade Forms 4.5 character mode to Forms 6i and then Forms 9i before migrating to Java, or can the migration be done directly from either Forms 4.5 or 6i ?
Jheadstart (JDG) only uses the designer repository as input and not forms. So if you have forms generated out of the designer repository, you can use the designer forms modules as jheadstart input. If you don't, you have to reverse engineer (capture) your forms into designer first.
    2) What version of Designer is also required ?
You need designer 6i patch 4.2, see also http://otn.oracle.com/consulting/9iServices/install.html#compatibility

  • Database componentes required/excluded for RMAN and Grid control repository

I'm planning creation of a centralized 10gR2 RMAN repository for my production/dev environment, and needed a basic, barebones database. We may also use that same database as a repository for 10g OEM Grid Control in the future, so I wanted to ensure I was prepared for that.
None of the documentation says anything about particular required components for RMAN, only that a database is needed. So am I allowed to deselect all items from the following DBCA list? I didn't expect any problems with the optional components, but wanted to make sure that RMAN or Grid control would function, were I to disable Oracle JVM or XML DB. My standard loadout (for better or worse) is to include everything in my production/dev databases, and I didn't want that to be the case with this one.
    Database Components:
    Oracle Data Mining
    Oracle Text
    Oracle OLAP
    Oracle Spatial
    Enterprise Manager Repository
    Standard Database Components:
    Oracle JVM
    Oracle XML DB
    Oracle Intermedia

Thanks. For that matter, do DBA's in the general population install those standard oracle components? I have them there in my default installs just because of the message 'Oracle recommends you have these installed.' in the DBCA screen.

  • Which databases are required to be moved in MOSS 2007 for upgrade to 2010?

    Hi,
We are planning to upgrade MOSS 2007 environment to SharePoint 2010.  As a next step, I have to move the following databases.  Please correct me if we need to also move the Shared Services (SSP) content databases.
Content Databases of Main website (move required)
Content Databases of SSP (move required)
Content Databases of Central Admin. (move not required)
    Thanks in advance!
    LM

Content Database, this is most important stuff.
if you have mysite and User profiles then you need to move the SSP to 2010. check the below blog for steps and understanding:

  • Database Size Required for SOA

I will be installing SOA Suite with OSB in Exalogic for testing. It is not for the production environment and very simple application will be used for testing. Database admin asked me what size database would be required but I did not find clear answer in the documentation anywhere. I would appreciate if some one could provide the answer.
    Thanks
P.S: Oracle Database 11.2 will most likely be the preferred choice for the database.

Try and have a separate machine for the SOA Suite, e.g. server. Then use the developer machines for JDev.
It really comes down to what load you are going to put on your environment. I would recommend 4GB but I have run it fine with just 2GB. The issue of having JDev on the same machine is that JDev can very very memory hungry and can / will impact the developer experience.
    cheers

  • Is Oracle database companion required for OIM?

    Hello,
We have inherited a system with the database companion installed and now we need to build a new OIM environment, do we need to install it prior to OIM installation?
    Thanks

On machine2, open the browser and enter the following URL:
    http://machine-name:port/forms/frmservlet?config=test
    >
This suggestion assumes you have the Oracle Developer Suite installed on Machine 2 and requires you to distribute your Forms files to Machine 2 or share them on a common network drive. This is not a good solution!
Oracle Forms 10g only supports "Web Deployment" runtime. As InoL indicated, this means you must have an application server (AS) to "serve" the application to a web client. The best AS to use is the Oracle Application Server (OAS) 10g as it provides the easiest integration with Oracle Forms Services (the component that handles the translation of the Forms compiled binary to Java).
@HamidHelal, you must have a dedicated application server running the OAS. Ideally, it is recommended that you have a 3 tiered solution. Tier 1: Database Server, Tier 2: Application Server, Tier 3: Client. Depending on your needs, Tier 1 and 2 can be hosted on the same physical server.
For more information on setting up an OAS with Forms Services, I recommend you review the Forms Services Deployment Guide in the Oracle Forms 10g Documentation section.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • Minimun database version required for oracle application 12.1.3

We are palnning to upgrade from our current applications version 12.0.4 to 12.1.3
We understand it will done in 2 phases ie 12.0.4 - 12.1.1 and 12.1.1 to 12.1.3
but our current database version is 10.2.0.4
My question here is can we upgrade applications to 12.1.3 without upgrading database?
or shall we upgarde atleast to 10.2.0.5 first and then proceed with applications upgrade and then plan for database upgrade to 11g release 2 later.
Please suggest me with proper approach. To upgrade my current environment with oracle application 12.0.4 with database 10.2.0.4 to oracle apllications 12.1.3
    Thanks in advance
    pavan

We infact are upgrading even our database to 11.2.0.3, but database upgrade will be done by other organisation as our client has outsoursed database support to other organisation.
We have to do only application upgrade from 12.0.4 to 12.1.3, however we have access to database to upgrade it to 10.2.0.5 if required, So my question here is can we proceed upgrading application to 12.1.3 without upgrading the database. (can i use 10.2.0.4 database with 12.1.3)Please see your other thread, I have already answered you.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Is a database table required for temporary interfaces with flat file data set source ?

Folks,  this is the situation I have in ODI 11.1.1.7
I have a temporary interface (yellow), called MJ_TEMP_INT,  that pulls data from TWO data sets in the source into a temporary target (TEMP_TARG). The catch is one data set pulls from a from a table whereas the other data set pulls from a flat file.  A union is done on the data sets.
I then create another interface, called MJ_INT, that uses the MJ_TEMP_INT as a source and the target is a real db. table called "REAL_TARGET"
    Two questions:
When I execute my second interface  (MJ_INT), I get a message "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist" because it is looking for a real db table TEMP_TARG. Why must I have one ? because I am pulling from a flat file ?
On my second interface (MJ_INT) when I look at the property sheet of my source interface MJ_TEMP_INT (yellow), the checkbox next to "Use temporary interface as Derived table" is DISABLED.  Why ? Is is also because my temporary interface is pulling from a flat file ?
I have attached a file that shows a screen shot of my ODI studio.
By the way,  IF my temporary interface source has only one data set pulling from a db. table into a temporary target table, say called MJ_TEMP2_TARG,  and then when I use this temporary interface as a source to another other real db. target table (REAL2_TARGET),  THEN, every thing works.  ODI does not require me to have a real db. table MJ_TEMP2_TARG and the checkbox for "Use temporary interface as Derived table" is NOT DISABLED and my REAL2_TARGET table gets populated.
    Thank you in advance.
    M. Jamal.

    Thanks SH. I thought so.
Though I understand the reason to materialize the file in a staging area, but that almost defeats the purpose of having a temporary interface in this case if we have to save the data in a permanent db. table first.  I assume the db. table sticks around and is not automatically dropped once the interface executing ends.  If the db. table sticks around then I also must truncate it first before executing the temporary interface each time. Right ?

  • FRM-10060: Database connection required for retrieveing referenced objects

    Hi,
When I open a form, I get this error. This form is referencing a form stored in the database for some item properties. How do I get find out which item is being referenced from the database?. This is quite a big form with lots of blocks & canvases.
    Thanks

after pressing OK connect to the database.
I think, Check for the pre-form trigger code.
The objects used in the pre-form trigger might be referenced by the database.

  • Database connectivity requiring oracle wallet, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora

We have a new datasource that I need to write a report against.  In order to access the db, I have to install an Oracle wallet on my pc that contains a certificate.  I then have an entry in the sqlnet.ora file that references this wallet, and I have an entry in my tnsnames file.  I wrote a report successfully on my pc.  We then have our Business Objects installation on a Sun Solaris machine with Unix.  We installed the wallet, added the sqlnet.ora entry, and the tnsnames.ora entry.  I am able to connect to the db from the unix command prompt by typing sqlplus username@dbname successfully.  However, when I place my Crystal Report in Bus. Obj. I cannot get it to work.  I go to the CMC, select the report, choose Process, Database.  I am entering Use custom database logon info and choosing Oracle as my database driver.  I then enter the tnsnames entry into the server and enter my username and password and check the use use same database logon as when report is run.  I get the error The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect.  I'm guessing the report is not using the certificate in the wallet when it is trying to log on, but I'm not sure.  Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?  Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Angie,
you should install the 32bit Oracle driver on your Solaris machine and adjust the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable (in the profile of the BOBJ installation user) to point to the path of the 32bit libraries of your Oracle driver.
BOBJ is not a native 64bit software and can therefore work only with the 32bit versions of the database drivers.
