Database deleted but have backup set

Hi
I have been doing some DRP testing & I have the backup set for a database. The test server has since been rebuilt. I have re-installed Oracle and now want to create a database using my backup set created by EM. Could anyone point me in the right direction to do this?
Thanks in advance!

You can try to adapt "Performing Disaster Recovery" scenario to your environment:

After my "restore" Itunes says I have 71,638 songs taking up 406GB. Clicking on get info on my music folder it says 106,340 items 426GB. That leads me to believe that I have not imported some songs into itunes. What do you think? Any suggestions as to how to "hoover" tracks up into itunes ( if thats indeed the case that there are tracks that Itunes does not know about ) would be gratefully recieved.
Doug has an answer for almost eveything:
_*Music Folder Files Not Added v2.0*_
This application will list the file paths of the files in your designated "iTunes Media" folder which are not in iTunes' library. Additionally, you can select a different parent folder and its contents will be compared to the iTunes library. Options to Add a selection of found files to iTunes or move them to the Trash.
Another strange ( but nice ) thing is that I brought a few tracks from itunes recently which definitly were not backed up. I am 99% sure they were lost but now seem to be working fine? Weird ?

  • Deleted all my actual music files but have " backup"

Dear All, I use a mac mini and had all my physical files on an external hard drive which sits on top. I use time machine to back up muy mac mini but not being able to work out how to use that to back up an external drive I made a physical coppy of my music folder to another drive a few months agao.
Well seduced by reports of extra bits and bobs on a program called songbird I installed that and ran it. It deleted all my music. ( googling songbird deleted my songs brings up numerous distraught people who this has happened to. ) Now my artwork, library etc is still on my mac mini bit of course none are now linked to the actual song files any more ( all deleted ) . Thank god I only brought a few songs since I made a copy of all my music files. Its a large file 250GB.
Whats the best way now to get my songs back into itunes ( from my copy on an external hard drive ) with the minimum of fuss and duplicates etc? Delete all my itunes libraries art etc and start again. Something simpler?
Any feedback on hoew to use timemachine to back up an external hardrive holding my music would be appreciated.
    Thanks all
    Richard

  • Formatted HD, but have backup of all the folders and files of Firefox. How can I restore everything, including plugins, bookmarks and saved settings?

I have formatted my computer's HD because of a problem with Windows 7, the thing is that Windows 7 didn't start, so I couldn't backup my Firefox settings, bookmarks, plugins, themes, personas and etc. the right way.
I also don't have a Firefox Sync account.
What I do have are all the folders and files of Firefox, because I just created a new partition and installed Windows 7 again, what I'm having trouble is finding a way (if there's any) to restore everything from my previous installation to the new one.
I have searched for days on both Google and on te Firefox forum with no success, the only questions I found are about restoring a profile, but what I'm trying to do is the same thing that the Firefox add-on " FEBE " does, which is restoring everything to the previous configuration.
    Here's alink to the add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-br/firefox/addon/febe/
I have tried copying, pasting and overwritting from the " .default " folder to my new installation of Firefox (yes, Firefox was closed), but when I opened it again, nothing was restored.
I every single folder and file Firefox ever created on my computer, this includes the installation folder (at Program Files), the profile (.default at AppData) folder, the Mozilla folder (ProgramData) and the Mozilla Firefox folder (also at AppData).
I also had the FEBE add-on installed, but like stated before, unfortunately I couldn't start Windows 7, forcing me to create a new partition to install a new copy of the OS.
    Thanks in advance.
PS. Sorry if I made the text too long and/or if I mentioned the same things twice, just trying to be thorough.

    Hi Sdarts,
I apologize for the delay in replying to your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are having issues restoring your Firefox user data.
Please see the following article, which explains how to restore your Firefox user data using a previously backed up Profiles folder, which seems to apply to your situation:

Please let us know if this solves your problem or if you have any questions.

  • Why can't I find clips that have been disconnected? I know they aren't deleted, but have been moved. Searching the HD doesn't find them.

I opened a FCE doc that I had worked in within the last week, and found half the clips in the projects were mysteriously disconnected. I assumed I had inadvertantly moved a folder, or renamed it, so I did a search on my HD for one of the disconnect clips to locate the file. No luck! Searched another. Nothing. I KNOW the files weren't deleted. Why don't they show up in a standard finder search? Help!

I have always struggled with FCE's automatic generation of folder for certain files. I learned editing on Adobe Premiere and like the new file set up procedure better there. You choose your codec, your scratch discs, and all details associated with the project and decide where they all reside. Then (and here's the best part) it sticks with the project. You open a project from two years ago and it still remembers where captures go, renders, all of it. With FCE, you have to remember to go into System Settings and reset the scratch disks for the project, or it will use whatever was the last project's settings. Right?
Anyway, related to this annoyance, I recently found the autosaves for this project randomly sitting in another project folder. I think I just deleted it, thinking they weren't important since I still had the original, and would be doing more work on it. Could this be at the root of my problem?

  • TM not on Tiger - but have backups from SL?

I'm in a bit of an odd scenario.
I had a problem with Permissions and Time Machine would not back up at all. The disc required repairing and required a fresh install. I  reinstalled OSX 10.4 completely forgetting Time Machine was only shipped with Snow Leopard onwards. At the time, I couldn't find my original SL disc anywhere. So, I did a fresh install of 10.4 (Tiger)
Of course when I expected the setup assistant to ask for a Time Machine back up (which I have on my ext HD) during install, it didn't have that option because - Time Machine only began with Snow Leopard.
Is there any way I can get Tiger to recognise my Back up file or is there a way I can during the install process using the 10.4 discs - or another way - call on my backup to install everything as it was before I had to repair the disc?

TM actually was included in 10.5/Leopard, but not sure that would help.
I'd call Apple & get another SL/10.6 Disc.

  • How to Import Database user in oracle which have character set AL32UTF8?

    Hello All,
I want export one database user which have character set in WE8MSWIN1252 and I want to Import that Database user in oracle which have character set AL32UTF8 without changing character set.
is there any argument in import command??
    thanks

There's no problem, export and import will take care of character set conversions, the only problem is AL32UTF8 is a variable size character set, if 'ñ' uses 1 byte in WE8MSWIN1252, in AL32UTF8 it will use 2 bytes, so it's recommended to pre-create the tables with "char" instead of "byte": create table xxx ( col1 varchar2(100 char), ... )

  • Backup set in the tape. copied into disk. how to recover using RMAN

I have backup set in the tape. copied into disk. how to recover using RMAN
    any link and steps please

It should be something like the following, but really you should read and understand the rman documentation first ...
    1. restore the controlfile
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    startup nomount
    exit
    rman
    connect target /
    restore controlfile from '/path to the controlfile backup piece';
    exit
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    alter database mount
    exit
    2. catalog the backup pieces
    rman
    connect target /
    catalog start with '/path to backup pieces';
    3. restore the database
    rman
    connect target /
    restore database
    4. recover the database
    rman
    connect target /
    recover database
    5. open the database
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    alter database open resetlogs;

  • Duplicate an old RMAN backup set on Oracle 9.2.0.8 with no catalog

Version: 9.2.0.8. We don't use an RMAN catalog

I presume this is happening because the target database has a retention of one day and is unaware of this rman backup that is about 20 days old.
If this is true, is there a way of telling the target database about this old backup set that I now want to duplicate?
From 10g onwards you can catalog a backup piece which might be the fix for this??
I've got round the problem by restoring the database to a different server, but would still like to know if the above is possible.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? thanks.

    Hi C3PO,

From 10g onwards you can catalog a backup piece which might be the fix for this??In 9i you can catalog image copies.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?Another option would be setup a catalog and change the retention policy to 30 days and add extra diskspace.

  • Time Machine asked to delete all my backups

Periodically, time machine tells me it's going to delete all my backups and create a new one. There is no way out of it. All I can say is "OK". But I'm wondering "Why?". Why is it doing that? Months of backup are gone with a single click.
When my backup drive gets full, it warns me that it is going to delete my oldest backups. That's okay. That's expected. But twice now it has told me that it is going to delete my entire backup set and start over. Why? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening.
Time machine has worked well for me for years. But suddenly, it's kind of useless.

Start with C13 in the 1st linked article.

  • Database delete by example?

Based on my cursory testing, the default delete operation for database adapter seems to use only the table key to identify the record to delete. Is there a delete counterpart of query by example so that I can specify field value other then just the key to match for deletion? I can use custom SQL with parameters for such delete. Or I can do a standard query first and feed the IDs to a standard delete. But I would like to know if anyone have other brilliant ideas. TIA

    Thanks in advance .
    Hi,
To delete database you can use DBCA.
When DBCA deletes a database, it shuts down the database instance and then deletes all database files. On the Windows platform, it also deletes associated Windows services.

  • How to restore with backup set

I am using XE and apex apps, I have to reinstall my XP system, thus have to reinstall all the softwares, XE, apex, etc.
Is there an easy way to do that?
Before I was doing like that, I exported my data by using the data pump utilities, and then I reinstall XE, reinstall apex, and then import the data to my schemas.
I have backup sets avaliablbe, because the backup set is installed within another disk (D:), instead of system C:, which will be reinstalled?
Do you think I can just use the latest backupset to do a full recovery?
    apex, data, all put together.

    Hello,
because I happened to need to do an upgrade of apex from 4.0 to 4.0.1.Ok! I see.
However, in any case, have always a good Backup of your Database (cold backup or {Hot Backup + Archived log}) in a safe location (tape or separate disk).
It can save your life :-) .
