  • I need a easy Oracle Database download?

This is my first try at getting familiar with Oracle. Now the database downloads that I have experienced so far all require for me to partition my system.
Now from past experience partitioning my system has been a nightmare. I need some help!!
Is there any software from Oracle (database stuff) that I can safely download and not need to partition my system. That would be cool if someone could educate me on this subject.
I am a programmer/data person by trade and not a network person. Any help would be great.
    Thank You,
    Concerned Data Guy

If you want to start with Oracle, try the Express Edition aka XE.
But this is really not the right forum. The Database category of forums has e.g Installation forum and XE forum, if you decide to try XE.

  • 10.1.0.2.0 database download link needed for window server 2008 64bit

Here is our plan. We are currently running oracle 10.1.0.2 database on a windowsServer 2003 32 bit.
Now we would like to migrate the database to 10gR2 and run it on our new server windows server 2008 64bit. After doing research, I think I need to go through the following step:
    1) install 10.1.0.2 on our new server,
    2) clone the database using the current back up data on the new server.
    3) install 10gR2 on the new server.
    4) using dbua to upgrade the older database to the new version.
Please let me know whether those steps are correct.
If yes, where can I download 10.1.0.2 version database for 64bit window server 2008?
The only link I can find is http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html
    but 10gR1 not listed.
    Thank you very much!

    Welcome to the forums !
10gR1 is de-supported, hence you will not find any download links. You will have to create an SR to see if Support can mail you the install media.
How big is the database ? One other option you have is to export the 10.1.0.2 database and import into 10gR2 on the new server. This will achieve the upgrade in one step and will not require the intermediate 10.1.0.2 version on the new server.

  • Oracle 9i Database Download Problem

I have been trying to download a Personal Edition of Oracle 9i database. This fails with a page not found error.
    - Server name : UK
    - Filename : Oracle 9i database

    Hello,
Due to the popularity of OTN's software downloads, we sometimes experience periods of high load on our systems. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have downloaded a file and it appears to be corrupt, it is most likely that your connection is being dropped or lost during the transfer process.
    Here are a few suggestions:
    1) Please make sure that your proxy server settings are correct before attempting to download again and try alternating between browsers.
    2) There is download management software available that you can try at http://www.getright.com that provides the "resume" feature. Please try using this software and let us know if it has any effect on your download.
    3) Please try changing the URL of the software you would like to download from
    http://download.oracle.com/xxx/xxx.zip to:
    a) http://download-west.oracle.com/
    b) http://download-east.oracle.com/
    c) http://download-uk.oracle.com/
    4) Try an alternate internet browser

  • Oracle 8i Database Download

    Hi,
Can anybody give me the link to get Oracle8i Database for solaris.
    Thanks,
    Ashwin

Did you ever solve this problem? I have downloaded 8.1.7 three times with the same results?
Everytime I download the database from the developer area, it appears to go great.
However, neither Winzip or PKunzip can work the file. They always encounter errors that are not fixable. This happens 100% of the time.
It is frustrating considering the size of the file.
NT 4.0 system with plenty of hard drive.
    Any input would be appreciated.

  • Which 11g R2 database download is free?

Is the "Standard Edition" a free download (for personal use by developer)?
    I see: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
If so - where is the Universal Installer download?
Or, does that price apply only to the "XE" database,
    application express?
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/express-edition/downloads/index.html
    and perhaps certain developer tools.

For personal learning purposes, all of the downloads are free. The license agreement is here - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/licenses/standard-license-152015.html
Just make sure your computer meets the minimum hardware and software requirements.

  • 9.2.0.1 Database downloads missing last few bytes

I've tried downloading the 9.2.0.1 database files
    92010NT_Disk1/2/3.zip
both directly from the web site and also using the "GetRight" download manager
In all cases the download appears to complete successfully (GetRight reports complete/Internet Explorer says "complete") but the resulting ZIP files can't be opened due to a few bytes apparently missing from the end of the files.
I've downloaded several times from various machines (at work with a proxy, at home over ADSL) without success.
    The files are coming from
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/otn/nt/oracle9i/9201/92010NT_Disk1.zip
    Any ideas?

Please try downloading the same file from : http://otn.oracle.com/software/htdocs/devlic.html?http://download-west.oracle.com/otn/nt/oracle9i/9201/92010NT_Disk1.zip

The following errors occured during unzipping the database archive. Please help in resolving them, and also provide the copies of them for ease of substitution.

It usually better to compare the checksum of the downloaded files with the mentioned checksum over the OTN.If there is any mismatch, its unlikely that download will work. Are the byte checksums matching at both the places?
As Satish mentioned, the best approach would be to download the file again.

  • Unable to gunzip database download

I downloaded 9i database for linux on a machine with XP because I don't have a network card for my Linux machine. I burned the files to cd. Looks like the burn was successful and the files are the right number of bytes. Now I want to gunzip the files on linux and I get an i/o error. I tried cksum too and still get an i/o error. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    hi,
    i'm assuming that you downloaded
    ship_9204_linux_disk1.cpio.gz (538,906,295 bytes),
    ship_9204_linux_disk2.cpio.gz (632,756,922 bytes), and
    ship_9204_linux_disk3.cpio.gz (296,127,243 bytes)
from http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/index.html. if you did, you can try:
    [oracle@oracentral ora92updates]$ file ship_9204_linux_disk1.cpio.gz
ship_9204_linux_disk1.cpio.gz: ASCII cpio archive (pre-SVR4 or odc)
from here, it seems that the file is recognized as a cpio file rather than a gzip. so i used
    [oracle@oracentral ora92updates]$ cpio -idmv < ship_9204_linux_disk1.cpio.gz
an voila! it starts unpacking. what i don't understand is why the chksum is different from that printed on the website. hope this helps.
