Hi,
This error come for many reasons, like network trouble, firewall issue, listener down, database down, bad sqlnet.ora parm, , etc.
Please check the below link. Hope this will help you to solve..
http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_12170_tns_connect_timeout.htm

BO 4.0 - Database error: Unable to connect to SAP BW Incomplete logon data
Hello Experts,
I have enabled a 'SSO to database' between SAP BW and Business objects by referencing to the documents related to below link.
I have created a universe connection with option 'use single sign on when refreshing reports at view time' and have created a universe on top of my BEx query by log-in to the universe designer tools using my LDAP account.
Now when I run the report with either SAP account or LDAP - I am able to run a adhoc webi report on this universe and get data either through the webi rich client or via BO 4.0 Info-view/Launch Pad.
But the issue is that when other users are trying to run webi queries on this universe either through Info-view/launch pad or rich client by log-in via LDAP Authentication - they get the below error: I have given SAP_ALL to this user for time being and also have done the necessary configuration for 'simple user format' in CMC so these user has 1 account with 3 alias definitions: Enterprise, SAP, R/3.
Database error: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data -
If the user logs on into the BO 4.0 Info-view/launch pad or webi rich client using his SAP authentication than he is able to run and retrieve data.
I also get a dump in the SAP BW system - I analyzed the dump in SAP BW using st22 tcode and it gives the error short text as - Incomplete logon data and run-time error - CALL_FUNCTION_SIGNON_INCOMPL
Desired outcome:
I want the users to log-in to webi rich client or BO 4.0 Launch pad/Info-view using their 'LDAP' authentication and run reports against the universe on SAP BW/BEx query without any errors or additional username/password requirements.
Can someone please tell me if I am missing any steps/configuration and guide me to achieve the above mentioned desired result ?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & regards,
CD.Hi Simone,
Thank you for the reply.
Here are the things done by me.
1. Generated the keystore file and imported it in BI 4.0 CMC on SAP Authentication Option tab
([http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/GeneratekeystoreandcertificateforSAPBO+BI4.0])
2. Generate the certificate file cert.der and this cert is imported in SAP BW with STRUSTSSO2 transaction.
3. BW Roles/Users have been imported into CMC.
4. SAP Users and LDAP users are mapped/aliased with each other using the registry key method
([http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/HowtomapSAPusersandLDAPusersinSBOBI4.0+CMC])
I haven't explicitly configured STS (Security token service) as STS is a part of Adaptive processing server (APS) and I have verified that by going to servers in CMC and then to analysis services.
I have searched for SAP OSS notes related to my issue but couldn't find any note related to SAP BW SSO with Business objects 4.0. Most of the notes are relevant for BO XI 3.1 environments.
Thanks & regards,

We have the same problem in BO Mobile.
Two users from one BW-role, BO-groups; one user report is executed, another user - error incomplete logon data. In Web Intelligence both users reports succeeds. -

Database error when creating a report
Hi all,
When we are creating a report with a universe based on BW, we are getting this error message:
"A database error occurred. The database error text is: An error occurred while trying to load the provider for transport sap. Failed to load library mda_sap. System error message: 0509-022 Cannot load module /Apps/BOEXI31/bobje/enterprise120/aix_rs6000/libmda_sap.so.

When I test the connection of the universe in Designer, the result is ok. Also, when I create a report on Rich Client, the report is created fine.

Hi,
when i try to open my webi report, tis throwing this message after i execute giving my prompt information:
"a database error occured:the database error text is - Error in MDDATASETBW.GetCellData.See RFC trace file or
SAP system log fro more details (WIS 10901) "
i checked with rfc trace ... it says error in connection and "RFCIO_ERROR_SYSERROR in abrfcpic.c"
likewise in ssytem log ,it says network prb ????
plz help me out with this .wat is the exact prb ??
thank you so much
sombody give me an idea, wat can this be.......Sratos,
It is BO 2008.my webi report has prompts, which are actually based from the BI query and not prompts created here in the
webi report.when the combinations of prompt values given has data,in the backend BI system, the report runs fine,if
no data is available in BI multiprovider, error message shoots up.this is happening both in dev and prd systems.
plz advise.
Thank you. -
Re: Fatal NI connect error 12170.
I had a similiar issue today in my 11.2 RAC database alert.log. My errors were 12170 and 12535, and it is not a firewall issue. I found in my listener logs that IP referenced in the 12170 error message had connected to my listener earlier today. It appears to be a simple timeout issue.
Found MOS doc Fatal NI Connect Error 12170, 'TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out' Reported in 11g Alert Log (Doc ID 1286376.1)Hi,
Currently, I'm having these kind of problems in some databases in my developer environment.. I spent some time investigating, but I didn't find a solution yet. I read many documents(MOS), and try other things...

Hi Everyone,
Recently my users have been complaining about lots of TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out or TNS-00505: Operation timed out. In checking the alert log, there are tons of timeouts occuring per day.
We have an application that is written using .net. This application connects from the "outside world" passing through a DMZ to the database. In doing some reading, i have come to the conclusion that i may need to setup connection manager, but not absolutely sure. Here is the error that is thrown on the timeouts found in the alert.log file:

Fatal NI connect error 12170 issue

One of metalinks suggestions is to set DIAG_ADR_ENABLED =OFF. My question is, will that really help and what really is the effect to turning that parameter off????
I usually have 150 users connected at a time to the database, and i am hearing there are a lot of time outs out there in the field...Not sure how to go about diagnosing this......The users are connecting via webservers and dmz so also not sure if i should be looking into setting up Connection Manager. Any help will be appreciated...Sorry I took forever to reply to this....I went out on vacation and just got back....I think this IP is associated with a Virtual Setup....
The weird thing is, alot of the systems which were accessing the database just fine are now receiving timeouts...Nothing has changed in the database setup...Right now I am getting this error from another application: "null Io exception: Connection reset" Not sure how to tackle this situation. -

BO XI R 3.1 SP 2 fix pack 2.1 - Database error occured - "Error on fetch"
Hi Ingo,
As per SAP recommendation we have upgraded our SAP BI system from BI 7.0 to BI 7.01 (Enhancement Pack 1).
And BO XI R 3.1 SP 2 to BO XI R 3.1 SP 2 fix pack 2.1.
After applying fix pack 2.1 on BO server, suddenly the reports on one of the Universes throwing error as follows:
A database error occured. The database error text is : (CS) "Error on Fetch". (WS 10901).
We have to apply Enhancement pack (SAP BI 7.01) and fix pack 2.1 (on BO) before this weekend on production environment.
Can you please help us if you are having any idea why this error occurs upon BO fix pack 2.1 installation.

Ravi Kumar Garre
Edited by: Ravi Kumar Garre on Dec 3, 2009 3:02 AMHi Ingo,
The query works well in SAP BI side using RSRT / BEx Analyzer.
I have created a new universe on same BI Query, still the problem exist.
We have created one new BEx query on same InfoProvider and then Universe. It works fine.

Please help me to solve this problem..
thanks & Regards
Edited by: sap_@2011 on Aug 26, 2010 5:34 PMHello,
Have you checked your Universe connection to the database?
Did you create the report in Rich client on your machine and then export it? ODBC connections may be different. They need to be the same.
I am not sure what you mean regarding blank with different colors. Can you explain this a little better?
Thanks
