Database gets into hanging position

Hi All,
I am using Oracle 10G R2 on windows.Size of all the dbf file gets increase suddenly due to insertion of huge data. But size on disk gets full and my database gets into hang position. So someone please suggest me the solution for this ? Or how can i compress the datafiles?

This problem seems to be a fuzzy assumption. Oracle must have returned an error for any problem. What is your db's role for you and how much is it important. If you are using this for development purpose the I would suggest you to recreate db with more manageable design/options. eg keep autoextend off and purge unusable data regularly.

the settings program will not allow me to enter any of those cells. the accounts section is all in grey scale (not black) and none will open including "add account"

Need to get into Oracle 8i database and don't have credentials

I need to get into an old Oracle 8i database running on Windows 2000 server. I have very limited experience with Oracle. No one who worked with this system is still employed by the company. I'm in the admin & Oracle DBA groups and have tried using
sqlplus <username>/<password> as sysdba
but I get TNS:protocol adaptor error. Oracle services are all running. If I could get in and export the data to a SQL Server machine, I'd be ok. Can anybody assist?

You must be using Remote Desktop of Mickeysoft to connect to the server.
You need to start a cmd window and issue
set local=<servicename in tnsnames.ora>
sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
and this should work.

Now RAID BIOS Hangs-Can't get into it!!

Folks - On a new build, the BIOS (v1.6) on my Neo4-F worked fine. I was trying to get Windows to not lose missing nt___ files. I kept deleting arrays and trying new array configs, reloading windows (yes, loading the RAID drivers with F6), but Windows still wouldn't load due to missing dll's. Now when I set the RAID SATA settings in the BIOS, save & exit, on the reload it hangs at the Nvidia RAID ROM BIOS screen "Detecting array..." and won't go any further. So I have to power down, reset the CMOS to get the BIOS back. If I go in and reset the SATA RAID drives, it'll do the same thing, otherwise if I don't set the RAID, it'll go on to load Windows as normal. What happened and how can I get into the RAID BIOS again??? Thanks

Try having just one connected and boot . (do a cmos clear also ) .
You can also leave the drive powered , and just insert/remove the sata cable when system is running .
Just don't plug/unplug the HDs power connector while system is powered on.
Sometimes the raid hangs if the drive order has been reversed (the raid mirror is confused whats drive #1) .So you should also try switching the drives on the connected sata ports .

Can not do many downloads, or get into many sites

I can not get into yahoo email or facebook. I can not download Internet Explorer 9, Adobe Flash (newest one) and others. What is soooooooo wrong. Please help me I have been at this ALL day long.

Here's what you want to do.
Upgrade iPhoto 11 to the latest version.
Open the Library with it.
Then open the Library with the latest version of Aperture.
No importing as the latest versions of both apps can use the same Library.
I noted this:

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Now I've really done it. I need help with iPhoto as I can't get into it at all.

I sent a request earlier regarding my MacBook Pro. I was trying to set up both computers so that I could network, mainly wanted to send my photos from the iMac (running OS X 10.6.8 and iPhoto '08). After some trials I got the two computers so that they appeared to be networked. I set system preferences so that PICTURES was what would be shared between the iMac and the MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.5.8 and iPhoto '11).
I had both computers set to recognize each other, the passwords worked, and I thought that was it until I was ready to move my photos from the iMac to the MacBook Pro. Before I knew what was going on, the MacBook got busy on its own and informed me that it was busy and that iPhotos had to do some updating because the photos (which I then assumed were the ones on the iMac) were too old as they were. It took some time, during which I noticed that when it got to the point of updating faces there were a couple of faces I didn't think I had seen in my MacBook photos. I let it finish what it was doing.
HERE IS MY PROBLEM: When it finally got finished I couldn't see any new photos on the MacBook, so I went to the iMac to see what had been done there. Big surprise! When I went to open iPhotos I got the message "The iPhone Library is locked, on a locked disc, or you do not have permission to make a change to it." No matter what I tried I couldn't get into it, so I don't know whether I have photos any more or not.
As luck would have it, my extended warranty for technical help expired in June 2011!

You don't need to restart your computer to open Firefox again: you just need to close it manually through your application manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC in Processes tab). Anyway, hopefully this support article is what you need:

What's probably happening is that you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Getting session hang When calling Function from SQL query

Hi All,
I am using Oracle 8.1.7.4.0. I have a fucntion in a Package and I am calling it from the SQL query. When I am firing the query my oracle session is going to hang position and I am not able to any thing. I have to kill the session.
But this same thing is working fine in Oracle 9.i.
There are no out parameter and no DML, DDL and DCL statement in this fucntion.
Could you please get back me what is the problem on it.

Check why your session hangs.
Just a few ideas:
* Blocking locks?
* Endless loop?
* Performance (maybe it is just slow in orac8i and you have to wait a bit longer). Check the execution plans of the SQL statements in your function.
* Don't use a function, but direct SQL, it is faster in both versions.

FI_GL LOAD GETTING INTO SHORTDUMP "SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC"

 We have FI_GL DTP load from datasource PSA to DSO, this was loading sucessfully till 25 of JUNE. This error due to that you are inserting duplicate records into DSO Key fields.
Check your record in PSA and remove duplicate reocrds from PSA and try to run transformation again or you need to change primary key of your DSO to fit PSA data.

Depth buffering; getting the Z position of a point on a 3D triangle

Greetings.
I'm creating a 3D library (if that's what you call them) on my own, and this is all about:
Defining the triangles with three Vector3D instances.
Transforming them with the transform.matrix3D property of a Sprite instance.
Calculating and assigning the w property of each Vector3D instance and project().
Draw the triangles out with the Graphics instance, according to the x, y properties of the projected Vector3D instances.
There they go, and I'm trying to use the depth buffering (or z buffering) to my library. According to the information I read and as I comprehend (including Wikipedia, results from Google search), depth buffering can solve the problems of intersecting polygons and triangles. And the algorithm works like this:
For each polygon, calculate the Z position of each pixel it occupies after being rendered.
Compare the current Z position of the pixel with the already existing one in the depth buffer.If the one in the buffer is larger than the current one (that is, the current one being nearer to the viewer) then replace the pixel (color) of that in the depth buffer with the current pixel.
Draw the pixels out.
Please point out any mistake I made in the my-way-of understanding how the depth buffering works, thank you.
I'm now having problem about the "calculating the Z position" of each pixel.
As three points define a plane, I tried using this algorithm by Paul Brouke and then get the Z position with X and Y positions, along with a, b, c, and d parameters previously calculated with the three Vector3D instances that define a triangle, by this simple calculation:
z = (-ax-by-d) / c
But it did not work. Instead, the triangles were distorted.
Is there any other rather simple way to get depth buffering working? If yes, I appreciate usages of simple words to explain simple codes. If not, then... I hope you can help me in some way.

Changed my AD password now cant get into enable !!!

Changed my AD password and now i cannot get into the enable side of the cisco switches on our network (we have no routers).
Looking on the logs for the ACS v4.2 I can see the following -
On TACACS+ Accounting you can see the connections which have worked - it the initial tty connections -
When i look in the failed attempts i see the following -
Auth failed - External DB user invalid or bad password or on another occasion internal error
or EAP-TLS or PEAP authentication failed due to unknown CAcertificate during SSL handshake.
Anyone seen this before ?

How can I get into the settings so I can remove "Bing" from the tool bar?

we started using firefox because of conficts with other sites but now Bing has put itself on the toolbar and is causing the same broblems.

Can't get into text application (Curve 8520)

Hi. When I use the trackball to highlight the text icon and then press the it to open the application, all that happens is that the trackball stops working until I press the red "hang up" button. In any case I can't get into my texts. Any ideas?

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Newbie question - Is it worth getting into SAP ?

Seeing as this is still the only forum where a "Post New Thread" button is locatable, here's my opening question.
I understand it takes study, certification and some years of experience to become a sought-after commodity in SAP.
As an underpaid (never above $A40K) and under-employed IT worker over the past ten years, I've noticed that every time a SAP job is advertised, the salary is quite impressive. The most recent position, for a SAP Consultant, offered $A120K.
To those of you who have been SAPping for a few years :
Are you and your skills in demand in the job marketplace ?
Do you receive reasonable or high pay ?
What combination of study and experience (and connections ?) did it take to reach your current position ?
For someone with broad IT experience, do you consider SAP worth getting into and, if so, by what route do you recommend entry ?

When compared to other fields and technical domains, the answer is yes.

You need to have reasonable amount of IT exposure (which you have....!!!!) and a working expeirence in the functional domain is a must to rise. Technical expertise would boost your career great guns. Though after 2- 4 years in SAP , it is preferable to be a functional guy.

Yes, it depends upon your type of IT experience. IF you have a good functional experience (say in domains like manufacturing, sales, or finance) pick up a functional module study hard go for certification, and you are there in SAP world.
With technical expertise you need to have good ABAP knowledge, and with netweaver these days JAVA would also do, but with SAP having abap knowledge always helps.
Same route here, study hard and go for certification and gian hands on experience.....and you are there to rock...!!!!
