Database Installation Forum

The installation of Oracle Database under Windows is completely different from Unix and Linux. There really is not much in common. Would it not make sense to split the Database Installation forum at least by OS platform? For instance, I don't mind to monitor the Installation forum and answer Linux and Unix related questions, but I do not want to be bothered by MS Windows issues.

Hi;
I belive you cant download it no more from oracle site becouse this version is desupported now, thatswhy if this version is mandatory for your issue i suggest try to log SR or concact to local oracle ofis
Please also check
DB enterprise edition 10.1.0.2 download.

  • Alternative Headstart database installation?

    Hello,
Headstart gives 2 alternatives for Headstart database installation, Shared Deployment or Self-Contained Deployment. We use the self-contained deployment. This means the same QMS-object names in different schema's. We would like to use unique names across different schema's which means we have to rename the QMS-objects, e.g. QMS_MESSAGE_TEXT becomes APP_MESSAGE_TEXT (APP stands for Application prefix).
Initially this seams like a lot of work and we were wondering if there is anyone else who has done this before or has any information available concerning this issue.
    Best regards,
    Fred.

    Fred,
I myself am not aware of anyone who has attempted this. Perhaps someone else reading this forum has some experience in this area.
I agree with you that it seems like a great deal of work. It will require you to make custom copies of all the Headstart client side objects as well, since many of them refer to database objects.
    Regards,
    Lauri

Configuration assistant "Oracle Database Configuration Assistant" failed

I had the same problem and solved it by doing the following:
Do not stop the DBCA to do this.
Go to Start->Control Panel-> Services -> oracleserviceyoursid and start the service. That will get you through that error.
Just in case you see this one as well....I did encounter a TNS error after that. I resolved this by commenting out (#) the line SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NTS) in SQLNET.ORA file.

You should be able to deploy MapViewer in this OC4J. Take a look on chapter 1 of the MapViewer User's Guide for information about deploying MapViewer in an Oracle application server.

  • Using mapviewer with database installation only ?

using mapviewer with database installation only ?
i have installed oracle database 11g on windows
the enterprise manager already relies on the ocj4 ('http://orcl:1158/em')
if i open 'http://orcl:1158' i get the start page for the appllication server - by clicking on 'manage applications' i come to the enterprise manager start page (i thinked, i can uplaod some ear application file, sinve oc4j is present for the em)
its possible to install the mapviewer.ear with this database installation only (since the oc4j is present for the em) - or i have to install the oc4j too?
    thx

  • Oracle 10g database installation in red hat 5

what are the packages needed for oracle 10g database installation in red hat 5?
what do you mean by yum way of installation?

Check on the release notes for your platform
This is for x86-64 Linux.. read it all, then you'll find the "6 Documentation Corrections and Additions" section you'll find the RPMs that you need
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15666/toc.htm
then go to the official doc installation of 10gR2 on x86-64 Linux
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15667/toc.htm
Yum is a package management tool. This is what you'll be using to install the RPMs. But first you'll have to setup the Yum repository, usually what I do is stage the DVD media on the server then make it as a repository. If ever there's a specific (higher) version that I need then I just pull it on the RedHat Network.
There are a lot of HOWTOs about Yum. You may read on this link http://docs.fedoraproject.org/yum/en/

  • Default port of Oracle 9i Database --- Oracle database installation

    Hi,
I am new to oracle..searched across internet to know this particular detail of Oracle 9i database installation.
My query being..Can Oracle database be installed in a way to use port's other than 1521. When do we go for making use of a port other than 1521. What are the risk's and benifit's.
How to make use of a port other than 1521 while making use of OUI(oracle universal installer) to install a 9i database on windows OS.
Can someone provide an answer to my queries/ some link where I can find the answer.
    Thanks,
    R S

you have to change the port no in listener.ora file which exists on Oracle_home/network/admin/listener.ora like
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Griat-xp.bebo.tech.com)(PORT = 1521))
      )from this to
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Griat-xp.bebo.tech.com)(PORT = 1522))
)afterwords you have to reload the listener by using lsnrctl on command prompt
in this way you can change the default port of Oracle

  • Setups in Database installation or patch application

    Hi all,
In the database installation or patch application, in the unzipped directories you have multiple
    setup.exe files along with oui.exe.
    For example: in 10g
you have one setup.exe under directory 10gR2_server\database
also you have one setup.exe and one oui.ex under directory 10gR2_server\database\install.
I am wondering what are the differences among those setup.exe and oui.exe. Sometimes we tried the setup.ex in one directory it throw some error and tried another one it works. I am kind of confused.
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Shirley

    Hi Shirley
As far as I know setup.exe is starting the Oracle Universal installer and the oui.exe is called by the setup.exe.
Sometimes your can perform silent install as this:
oui.exe -waitforcompletion -nowait -force -silent -responseFile response_file.rsp

  • Please Guide me to complete the Database installation.

I have Installed Oracle9i Client in my machine as Administrator
Now that I am trying to Install the Oracle9i Server in the same machine either as administrator or network User, But I am not able to install it. The system is not reading the CD dump that is available in my local Dump.
Do I have to uninstall the client Version and remove the entries in the registry before installing the Server Version.
Please Guide me to complete the Database installation.
    Thanks in advance...

For installing the Oracle Server you have to install it in a different Oracle Server and the fact that you have a client install does not stop what you are doing

  • Looking for 9.2 Database Installation Download

Anyone know where I can find a download of the database installation files for an HP-UX PA Risc 32-bit server?
I googled and the link to OTN gives me the download of 11g and 10g but nothing earlier. I searched OTN directly and got no valid results for this.
    Thanks.

    Hi Hans, hi everyone,
do you know if I can still find and download the Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition? I am trying hard to get it, as this is the version used by my customers. I am afraid of incompatibility that could arise from developping SQL/PLSQL in 11g and then trying to use it in Database 10g.Have you checked http://otn.oracle.com under the Download quick-link (top of page), http://download.oracle.com or http://edelivery.oracle.com ?
Hopefully your customer is not using 10g R1. That would be very sad.
