Database is candidate for Check up
Hi Experts ,
I understand that we need to send database to SAP support if we receive error message when we run iVi script .
I don't know how much of the significant effect it has when we receive this error .
I think this query doesn't apply to all business process ....
Does anyone has any input in this....
Hope everybody gets some more idea about this
Bishal
Hi Jitin ,
The reason I asked this is : I ran this query against one of the database and I received this message . so far all reporting as mentioned to me was fine and YEC was done sucessfully .I haven't receive any complaints .
Now my problem is : What causes this problem? What I need to specify for support ? Should I go this process with SAP even i have received no complaints ?
I just don't want to log a support to SAP if I don't know what is the issue ...
For experts :
Have you submitted your data for this kind of messages ? Can you share your experiece ? What was the issues found ?
Thank you
Bishal

Candidates for HANA sidecar usage
Hello folks - we have a financial landscape running ERP6 EHP4 on Oracle RDBMS, and are considering 2 options
1) once ECC/ERP on HANA is available - migrate to HANA from Oracle (so the entire system would run on HANA)
2) setup a sidecar HANA - and then use it for a select group of tables/processes - to help improve performance against those objects (so data from the ERP system would get pulled into the HANA sidecar and queries/jobs would run against the sidecar instead of the original ERP system itself)
For the 2nd option - is there any SAP service or tool that can help us pinpoint what tables would be the best candidates for use in the sidecar? I can't find this anywhere but would think SAP would be more than happy to guide customers to anything that gets them using HANA. (the first option is probably more long-term for us BTW)
ThanksHi Ben,
As you have mentioned, Option 1 should always be the long term approach. However , to leverage the benefits of HANA immediately, suggested approach could be to choose option 2, i.e. HANA is used in side car approach, where in the SAP products - ERP, CRM, SCM etc continue to use classical database , but the table and data in these are replicated to HANA database. This can be done for selected scenarios or select transactions / business processes - ex: - CO-PA or Custom transactions / reports that have huge performance issues.
Following SAP tools can be used to identify potential programs/scenarios for Optimization.
SQLM- SQL Monitor - This logs all the SQL statements that are executed on an ABAP application , would help to identify the programs that have performance issues due to SQL statements. The log for around 1-2 weeks can be checked to identify potential areas of optimization.
SWLT- Performance Tuning Worklist - Used to combine static check results with SQLM snapshot to identify the hotspots within programs. We can use this tool in the production system for few days to identify the programs/transactions that need optimization.
Enhanced SCI- Code Inspector - this tool can be used to perform Static checks within ABAP programs and identify code patterns that could be optimized. This can be very useful for Custom ABAP programs and can be readily used in dev/quality systems as well.
SAP also suggests the use of Business scenario recommendations report for SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA, This report identifies the specific business value scenarios most relevant to you after analyzing your current production usage and your productive SAP landscape. Although this is suggested for option 1, same can be used to identify potential areas of Optimization. Details of the same can be found on www.suiteonhana.com , you will need to upload your production log details so that you can receive your results report by email. The site also has a sample report.

Oracle Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU) is now available!
Oracle Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU) is a next-generation GUI migration tool to help you migrate your databases to the Unicode character set. It is free for customers with database support contracts. The DMU is built on the same GUI platform as SQL Developer and JDeveloper. It uses dedicated RDBMS functionality to scan and convert a database to AL32UTF8 (or to the deprecated UTF8, if needed for some reasons). For existing AL32UTF8 and UTF8 databases, it provides a validation mode to check if data is really encoded in UTF-8. Learn more about the tool on its OTN pages.
There is a new Database Migration Assistant for Unicode. We encourage you to post all questions related to the tool and to the database character set migration process in general to that forum.
Thanks,
The DMU Development TeamHI there!
7.6.03 ? Why do you use outdated software for your migration.
At least use 7.6.06 or 7.7.07 !
About the performance topic - well, you've to figure out what the database is waiting for.
Activate time measurement, activate the DBanalyzer with a short snapshot interval (say 120 or 60 seconds) and check what warnings you get.
Also you should use the parameter check to make sure that you don't run into any setup-induced bottlenecks.
Apart from these very basic prerequisites for the analysis of this issue, you may want to check
SAP Note 1464560 FAQ: R3load on MaxDB
Maybe you can use some of the performance features available in the current R3load versions.
regards,
Lars
p.s.
open a support message if you're not able to do the performance analysis yourself. -
How can I hook up Microsoft Visual SourceSafe to CS6 for check-in/out?
I've used Dreamweaver for years with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe for Checking files in/out, but now CS6 doesn't support it.
Is there a way to get VSS to work with Dreamweaver CS6?
I've got a historical database of Visual SourceSafe web file backups from years of web work and I don't want to start from scratch with a new system.Did you ever find a solution for this? I am not a huge SourceSafe fan, but we still use it at work and any chance I get to bypass it is a plus
Thanks,

Database is configured for Data Guard
I am run a UTF8 conversion on a development database that has been cloned from Data Guard. There is a warning in Migration Status: "Database is configured for Data Guard" What is the DMU looking at to determine this? The database is open in read-write mode and it behaving like a primary database (I run the DMU scan and run updates to fix invalid representations). I would like to know what settings I need to update.
Is this preventing me from converting tables using CTAS? When I try to select this for all tables I get the message, "The DMU does not support the conversion method "Copy data using CREATE TABLE AS SELECT" for tables that are involved in an Oracle Streams process, like capture or apply. Use another available conversion method for the table"
Thanks,
BenThe DMU checks if the parameter DG_BROKER_START is set to true.
The problem with CTAS is independent from Data Guard. The DMU checks for tables that:
- are source of asynchronous Streams capture, or
- have update conflict handlers, or
- have DML handlers, or
- have conflict resolution parameters
The above tables are considered configured for Oracle Streams and are not supported by CTAS conversion method. This is because the CTAS method creates a converted copy of the table and drops the original. The DMU is not capable of moving the Streams configuration information from the old table to the new one.
Thanks,

Problem - Define Forms for Check Deposit List - Need Help
Hello Experts,
I want to extend the logic of T Code FP20 (Prog RFKKCK01),
Hence, I have created a 'Z' prog with the appropriate extension in the logic.
Now to take these change effectively, i have made corrensponding changes in the attached SAP Script (FKK_CHECKDEPOS) also.
Now, when I go to
Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable -> Business Transactions -> Payments -> Processing Incoming and Outgoing Payments ->Define Forms for Check Deposit List.
In this, I create a new Entry after removing the existing Entry of the same Company Code [1000 | ZRFKKCK01 | SapScript | ZFKK_CHECKDEPOS ]
it gives me an Error "Specify the key within the work area".
Specify the key within the work area
Message no. SV033
Diagnosis
You have attempted to create an entry whose key is not in the range defined for this area.
System Response
The entry cannot be created.
Procedure
Please check your entry.
Please Help me solving this problem.
Thanks!!Thanks sbaranga. This code won't work for me.
<select>
<option value="P"if (statusIndicator.equals("Pending")){ selected}>
<option value="A"if (statusIndicator.equals("Approved")){ selected}>
</select>
In above code statusIndicator is ID I believe. I need to show selected item based on statusIndicator in database. Also it has to pass updated status to database incase if user changes status thru form.
If they select Pending then "P" will be passed to servlet and if they select Approved then it will pass "A" to servlet.
I will be receiving "A" or "P" from database when I am trying to retrive status value from database. Based on value "A" or "P" I need to change selected information on form.
Update and Retive form are same. this one form does everything display and update.
I hope this help to understand my question.
If you have any question then email me at [email protected]
Thank you. -

FRM-10060: Database connection required for retrieveing referenced objects
Hi,
When I open a form, I get this error. This form is referencing a form stored in the database for some item properties. How do I get find out which item is being referenced from the database?. This is quite a big form with lots of blocks & canvases.
Thanksafter pressing OK connect to the database.
I think, Check for the pre-form trigger code.
The objects used in the pre-form trigger might be referenced by the database. -
Database Mail Fails For SQL Server Agent Jobs / Maintenace plans - Why ?
Database Mail Fails For SQL Server Agent Jobs / Maintenace plans - Why ?
This has been a very common question I have seen relatedt to Database mail and I thought will post here so if you run into this issue, it could be due to one of the following and also have mentioned below how to get around them. Bottom line is datbase mail works fine with SQL Agent jobs and maintenace plans in SP1 on all platforms.
1. If you see this on 64 bit platform and on RTM build, this is a bug that is addressed in SP1.
2. If you see the below error message, it is known issue and this is because of design that requires SQL Agent to restart, if SQL Agent was started before enabling databasemail and setting a new profile. We are evaluating to change this design of not requiring to restart agent for our future release.
Re: 264] An attempt was made to send an email when no email session has been established
This problem will go away after restarting SQL Server Agent in this case. Thanks,
Gops Dwarak, MSFTThis may be related to the fact that DBMail, by default, shuts itself down after 10 minutes of inactivty. If the mail service isn't running, you won't be able to queue up any mail messages.
There may be a built-in mechanism for addressing this problem, but I found that I can detect this situation and start the mail listener before sending db mail. I use the following in stored procs that need to send email.
You could increase the inactivity period for db mail shutdown from 600 seconds to some larger value. It might not make sense to do so, since shutting it down releases its resources back to teh system; if your SQL server only sneds mail infrequently, it might be better to start the mail listener on demand. Someone with more experience than I might want to add their two cents' worth. :-)
/* Check the mail engine. Start the service if is is stopped */
/* -- the DB Mail engine shuts down after 10 minutes (of inactivity) */
/* -- this setting can be changed, but we probably don't need to. */
DECLARE @rc INT
IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT * FROM msdb.sys.service_queues
WHERE name = N'ExternalMailQueue' AND is_receive_enabled = 1)
EXEC @rc = msdb.dbo.sysmail_start_sp

Micron Millenium a candidate for Archlinux?
I have an old Micron Millenium XKu that came with Win95 installed.
Pentium II MMX
I'd kinda like to give Arch a shot.
I'd probably have to put a new hard drive in the box because I think the one that's in there is only 8 GB.
I'm not familiar with the whole 'architecture' thing.
Would this computer be a viable candidate for Archlinux?9nine9 wrote:
I checked the ram in my Micron (mentioned in the first post) and it does have 128MB.
But it only has a modem and no NIC, so I'll have to either cannibalize one from one of my other older computers or perhaps use one of them instead of the Micron for the Arch install.
I notice that some of them have Celeron processors. If these computers are similar in age to the Micron (I think they are), would they be viable candidates too?
Thanks again for your input.
Since the first Celeron was based of the Pentium II, they should be. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_P6. But if we are really talking about a first generation Celeron, then I hope you have lots of time . -
Finding out objects good candidates for reorganization ( datafile shrink)
Hi Gurus,
I need to find out what can objects are good candidates for reorganization to allow shrinking some datafiles. one of the challenges i have is to try and figure out how i can release some space from the tablespace in one of our environment .Please let me know if you have any scripts for this.Either on a tablespace by tablespace basis or as a general statement which of the following statements are more true than the other statements.
1) More data is being INSERTED into the DB than being DELETED. In other words total disk space consumption is increasing?
2) About the same amount of data in being INSERTED as being DELETED. In other words the amount of disk space consumed is at equilibrium.
3) More data is being DELETED than being INSERTED. In other words less data is being held in the DB as time progresses.
Which statement best reflects your database environment?
