ThanksCheck cron job and other scheduled jobs on your database server. The database is shutdown gracefully not by accident or crash. Maybe a old backup script?

Sorry, there is no feature for that built into Firefox, and I haven't seen an add-on to add that feature to Firefox.

  • On a sx40. When I turn on camera I get Lens Error Will shut down automatically. Restart camera

I need help.  I bought a sx40 camera on ebay.  After only a month of occassional use I now get a lens error message.
It states Lens Error, shutting down automatically Restart Camera.  I have not dropped the camera or abused it in any way.  But there is a really loud screeching sound as the lens tries to come out but can't.  Anyone have any answers.

yes first see if you can get the extended warranty thru Square Trade if its not to late or what the return agreement with the seller was...do that first. If you used PayPal they also offer automatic purchase protection too. Lens problems are not cheap to repair. Second use some compressed air and see if you can gently blow out and thing that may have gotten inside the lens assembly. Blow the air from inside the battery compartment and any other open space...the key it to blow anything out. Also blow the air around the lens assembly. That sound you hear is not a good sign.

  • Mac Shutting down automatically when not in use for awhile

Please excuse my non techinical explanation of this problem !
    Model: Macbook Pro5,1
    OSX 10.5.7
2.4 GHZ intel core 2 duo
    2GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
Im first time mac owner and have very little technical ability ... !
    Problem:
Laptop shuts down automatically if idle for about ten minutes ... this time can vary.
Prior to this happening it makes alarming noises which appear to come from the on/off button area. Initially I thought it was a CD banging ... but its not that.
This is the extent of my diagnostics at this stage! I have limited warranty on (based in Ireland) was planning on getting extended apple care warranty only last week ... not sure should i still get the extended warranty now I know this problem exists, cant find apple service centre in Dublin and not sure if I would be covered under limited warranty.
    Any advice would be appreciated
    thanks

Hi Bibii and welcome to Discussions,
first of, you have posted in the Mac Pro section not the MacBook Pro section here http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=190
Anyway, is this really a shutdown or is it just sleeping ?
If sleeping check the Energy Savings settings in the System Preferences for when your MBP should go to sleep when inactive.

Does the laptop also shut down from safe mode ?
If yes, the perform hard drive self test to figure out whether it is a hardware or software issue .
Plug in the ac adapter and remove all external device . Then, perform following steps to perform hard drive self test .
    1. Turn on/ Restart the laptop and keep tapping f10 key until bios set up screen appears .
    2. Select Tools/Diagnosis option using up or down arrow key.
    3. Select hard drive self test option.
    4. Run primary hard drive test .

  • Hp pavilion g6 1301tx- Shutting down automatically at 30% Battery

My Laptop is shutting down automatically at 30% of battery.Shutting down in the sense the screen goes off and gets swtiched off without showing shutdown screen.I experienced less battery life between charges so, I used HP support Assistant software,it asked me to calibrate my battery ..now i couldn't calibrate because of this problem..
So anyone please suggest me a solution.. Thanks in Advance

Mines started doing exactly the same! Its just 12 months old though and hardly ever gives me a low battery warning. Then it will turn off without shutting down the proper way. When I plug in and turn back on, the battery says its at 20-25%
Is there actually a solution to this and whats causing it?..because if it's the battery then **bleep**..they don't last long.

  • OVI store shutting down automatically within a min...

I have version 2.08.042 of OVI stores installed in my device N8. Since last 10days when I am trying to download from OVI stores, I am getting a message "Unable to retrieve My Stuff list" and could not monitor the progress of the downloading. I contacted Nokia support (case ID is 1-11728845968) and on their guidance I have downloaded the OVI stores again through link store.ovi.mobi. And, now after downloading, my OVI stores application shutting down automatically within a minute after logging in.  Again I took the matter to the notice of support centre.  In the mean time,  can anybody help me in resolving the above problems. My first problem not resolved and I am stuck with a new one.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes. The support centre come back to me with a solution to take the Phone to nearest nokia care. Is this a solution??? When lot of members are posting the same problem, definitely this is a software problem which is to be sorted out through software patches/updates only.  Anyway, let me find out a time to contact Nokia care centre and come back to you.

  • Computer freezes and shuts down automatically

    Hi,
I'm playing SimCity 4 and it looks like the CD is just fine but my mini mac keeps freezing up & then shuts down automatically. Computer meets system requirements of OS X 10 & up, Can it be the memory? If it is, can I get more virtual memory & how? Can it be something else? I know very little about my mini mac. Thanks for the help.

Guess the first question would be, how much memory does the Mini currently have? Below are the specification required to play the game:
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.2.3 or later
CPU Processor: PowerPC G3 or later
    CPU Speed: 500MHz or faster
    Memory: 256 MB or higher
Hard Disk Space: 2.4GB free disk space
Video Card (ATI): Radeon 7500 or better
Video Card (NVidia): GeForce2 MX or better
Video Memory (VRam): 32 MB or higher
    Media Required: CD Drive
It should have at least these requirements, so you could try to reinstall the graphics drivers.

  • Equium A110 shuts down automatically

    Hi,
this is my first post and I have done a search to try to find an appropriate place to post, so please don't kill me if this isn't the right place.
My Equium A110 cut out twice today and when I felt the base it was incredibly hot. It tends to get pretty warm normally but usually the fan kicks in. I have a feeling the fan has stopped working.
Is this something that is reasonably quick/cheap to have replaced?
I am not remotely technically minded but I don't want to have to spend days or even weeks with no online facility at home.

    Hi
Seems the notebook overheats and therefore it shuts down automatically to prevent the hardware from damage.
I read many times about similar issues and mostly this happens if the cooling modules dont work properly due to the dust and debris inside the cooling grilles.
If your cooling grilles are clogged you could remove the dust using the compressed air spray which could be ordered from a computer dealer.
If it doesnt help then you should contact the ASP in your country because it could be possible that your cooling modules malfunction.
Additionally the technician should check if the thermal grease is ok or if its necessary to renew it.
Last but not least you should use your notebook on the desk where is enough free space around the notebook. This is very important to ensure the properly fresh air circulation.
    Good luck

  • Satellite A200 shuts down automatically

My Satellite A200 is less than 10 months old but it has started to just shut down all of a sudden without warning.
When I try to turn it back on it often doesn't reach the Vista screen before powering off again.
Interestingly, when I remove the charger cable it seems to be able to boot up and survive at least for a longer duration.
    Any ideas please?

    Hi
I think the notebook shuts down automatically due to a higher internal temperature.
The point is that such notebooks supports a overheating protection and if the temperature increases to a critical level, the notebook shuts down automatically to prevent the hardware from damage.
In most cases the air cannot circulate properly due to clogged cooling grilles and therefore the temperature increases to a higher level.
In my opinion the cooling ventilators should be cleaned up.
The compressed air spray is a professional tool which could helps you to get rid of dust and debris.

  • G5 Quad Shuts down Automatically

Hi, i have a G5 2.5GHz Quad, i am using it for Final Cut Studio.
My problem is, when i am working on any application, the system shuts down automatically. once replaced the RAM it worked fine, but now again the same problem.
i would really appreciate if anybody can get me out of this problem.

On the basis of the info. you have provided:
I have not found an Official Explanation of the "PMU -122" error code.
As RAM changes provided a temporary fix, you could try -
Run the Apple Hardware Test and Memtest - link at the bottom of page here
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/aht.html
Note - it doesn't find all RAM problems.
    If no problems are found
Remove any RAM that was not supplied by Apple with the G5.
Also you could disconnect all non-essential peripherals and leaving just display, keyboard and mouse; unplug from the mains and leave for at least 30 mins; re-connect mains plug to G5(to earth the casing), then reset the SMU/PMU
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300341
Note static precautions and the warning to press the button once only.
Then boot from the supplied system DVD and Repair disc and permissions
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh1018.html
If after this, the problem does not re-occur you could try progressively replacing the additional non-original RAM in pairs and see if it still runs ok at each stage.
If none of this helps, it may be time to contact AppleCare.

  • Portege R500 shuts down automatically

Portege R500 shuts down automatically when connected to mains power for a certain period.
Happens on both Toshiba power cable and igo juice cable. Tends to happen when it gets hot, with and without battery connected.
Yellow power light flashes 2 long, 2 short, 1 long, 3 short. Only way to reset is to take out power cable and battery.
Used to happen after being connected for a while and will only operate on mains power after a long wait.
Now happening more often, even if connection to laptop is not hot.
This is the 3rd generation of this laptop I have had over the past 10 years and with mid-life memory upgrade they seem to be very robust and this is the only fundamental problem I have come across.
    Does anybody have any fixes?

    Hi
The blinking code means that a hardware problem has been detected on the motherboard.
Therefore I think that this could be an hardware related issue and not an overheating issue
    But nothing is impossible
You could try to clean the cooling modules/fans using an compressed air spray
This would help you to remove the dust from the notebook cooling grilles
This workaround is very useful if the notebooks temperature is too high and if the notebook shuts down automatically in order to prevent the hardware parts from damage
    Check and try this out
