Database issue prevents Aperture from launching

When I launch Aperture, I get the following error message displayed over the opening screen:
"An inconsistancy in your database has been detected. The application will now quit, relaunch, and restore your database to a consistant state. This may take some time."
Aperture will then just sit there with the error message, with no quit, relaunch or restore. This behavior is exhibited also when launching from the backup. I tried to the control-option keystroke combo for library restore, with no success. The disk passes all the Disk utility tests.
Help!!

It's Command (Apple)-Option just in case you're pressing the wrong button.
Also, check under "About This Mac" "More Info" "Software" "Frameworks" for:
ProKit v3.1
If it is not in the list, you need to follow the instructions and download on the Apple website:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301838
This has a full how to (simple but there are a couple of steps). The download link is at the bottom of the page and does not require you to purchase Final Cut Studio or anything.

  • How to prevent Aperture from launching when iPhone is docked.

How can I stop Aperture from launching and trying to import the photos from my iPhone every time I put the iPhone in its dock? It is annoying !

image capture (the program) is recognizing your iPhone as a camera ... you have it set to open Aperture when a camera is connected, yes ???
well ... the only way to turn it off (to the best of my knowledge) would be to open image capture and set it to do nothing ... that is when any camera/card/iPhone is connected image capture does nothing ... you will manually have to open aperture and import from your cards/cameras ...

  • How can I prevent iPhoto from launching when I insert an SD card

I recently upgraded to a new iMac retina and am having trouble disabling iPhoto from launching when an SD card is inserted.
I have gone to iPhoto setting and disabled iPhoto from launching when a camera is connected.
I have also gone into image capture and selected no application as the hidden option for SD card actions when inserted.
Unfortunately the issue persists... two questions: can I do a terminal level disable to prevent iPhoto from launching or can I remove iPhoto from my computer?

    Have you tried this?
    Open the Image Capture app
    Select your SD Card
Click the little widget in the bottom right corner of the window
Select the program to launch, or "No application"
    it worked for me

  • Is there any way to prevent Aperture from Auto Cropping an image?

Is there any way to prevent Aperture from auto cropping an image? I use the "Do Not Crop" aspect ratio often and Aperture constantly picks cropping aspects for me, which is driving me crazy. Can I set "Do Not Crop" as the ratio I want on a more permanent basis anyhow? Thanks for the help.
    Chris

This is a current bug.  Please report it via "Aperture→Send Aperture Feedback".
Just to clarify, the problem is not auto-cropping, the problem is the the crop tool aspect ratio is arbitrarily set (in my case, always to something close to the current crop aspect ratio).  You can reset it (on a per-crop basis) to "Do not constrain".
    It is very bothersome.
You might try trashing your prefs.  Details on the Trouble-shooting page.  I have had the bug return more than once.

  • APERTURE TETHERING: How do I prevent Aperture from going to the most recent shot.

I'm planning on a photo day (kinda like a school portrait) for my company and will be using a D700 tethered to a Mac running Aperture.
Currently when I take a photo, the person at the computer doesn't have enough time to enter the name of the subject in the metadata window before I've moved on and taken a photo of the next subject. Once I've captured the image a new image, Aperture quickly jumps to the new photo, interupting the naming process. Is there a setting I can change in Aperture 3.1.2 that prevents Aperture from jumping to the most recent shot.
    Thanks in advance.

I think what spikeyjonze was trying to say is you deselect Auto Select , not that you blow up Aperture

  • How do I prevent Elements from launching when I connect a flash drive?

When I connect a flash drive or SD card to my computer, Photoshop Elements automatically launches a component to save and organize my photos. I already have a system in place to organize my pictures so do not want to use the one from Elements. How do I prevent the program from launching automatically?

On Windows go to the Control Panel >> AutoPlay
And change your settings to “Always Ask” for photos and videos and save.
If your camera, phone or other devices are listed at the bottom you can also change those settings.

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS7, it has basically become a brick.  It constantly freezes, and the home button becomes completely inoperable.  People have suggested a number of fixes for the home button problem ("calibrating", tightening screws, etc.) but none of the fixes solved the problem.  Through trial and error, I've come to realize that the problem is that the phone doesn't have enough computing power and that too much of its RAM gets used up by background processes, causing the phone to freeze.
I have found an app that stops unnecessary background processes currently running, frees up RAM, and lets the phone function properly (Free RAM 1.3). Once I've run this app, the phone functions perfectly.
However, this clean up only happens each time the app is launched (ie: it does not continuously free up RAM).  So, I constantly have to run it (and sometimes am not able to because the phone is frozen and the home button won't work).
When it is running, the app  displays the background processes that are running.  Looking at the list, there are many processes for which I have no need, such as processes related to automatic checking for app updates, processes related to iCloud (which I do not use), etc.  Preventing these processes from running in the first place would go a long way in making my phone more useable (being able to return to a previous iOS would be a better option, but Apple won't allow this).
Here is my question:  is there a way to prevent unnecessary background processes from running at all?
    Which app is this?

  • How to prevent iTunes from launching when iPad is connected?

I don't want iTunes 11.0.1 to launch every time I connect my iPad (3rd generation, running iOS 6.0.1) to my Mini. I want to decide if I want iTunes, and then, if I do, launch it manually. How may this be accomplished?
    Notes:
    1.  iTunes .. Preferences .. Devices ==> "Prevent ... from syncing automatically" is UNchecked.
    2.  (in iTunes while connected) iPad .. Summary .. Options ==> "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected" is UNchecked.
    3.  When iTunes auto-launches, it does NOT sync. It "mounts" the iPad and then sits idle.
    TIA for any ideas,
    Mark

    Found the answer via Bing:
    http://www.brighthub.com/computing/hardware/articles/72004.aspx
With the iPad connected and (at least in my case) iTunes NOT running, start the program "Image Capture" (mine is version 6.1). In the lower left will be a label "Connecting this iPad opens:" and below that label is a drop-down box which, in my case, was set to iTunes (don't ask me how), and I have since changed to "No application".
    Gee, that was obvious.

  • Display Image from the database but prevent it from refreshing on every pages

    Hi there,
I can see there are many discussions around this but my query is slightly different. I'm writing this on behalf of one of my developers. (sorry for my ignorance on techie stuff.. :-))
A logo is being displayed on a few pages, which is called from the database. However, the problem is that  - this logo refreshes every time when you traverse to each page causing a performance issue or sometimes slow loading of the image.
My question is - how do we stop it from loading on each page from the database?.  I would rather load once when the main page loads initially and then maintain this on other pages too.
We can keep this logo on a file system (FS)  and display it via CSS/HTML/frame but since we want to keep it flexible/dynamic where a user can upload a new one whenever it changes and hence DB seems to be the suitable option (in my opinion).
    Can someone please help?
If you need any further info around the coding how it is being done at present, pls let me know.
    Thank you

    read this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28393/adlob_tables.htm#g1017777
you can cache lobs in the database too
you can also upload the pic in your file system using utl_file package and then put the image in the working directory mentioned in i.war
you can then reference the image and it will not be stored in the database and will be cached

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Licensing issue prevents Acrobat from opening. What's the fix?

OK - or i should say not OK!!
I am running the licensed version of Acrobat 9 Pro on Mac OSX. It is installed on 2 of my MacBook Pro 17" laptops. These machines are respectively 1 month and 14 months old, and both are completely up-to-date software wise. 3 weeks ago Acrobat presented the error message "Licensing for this product has stopped working" and then quits. Searching through the error logs reveals the following: No matching processes were found. Shutting down licensing service ...
I have meticulously, several times worked through all the recommended steps on the Adobe site to address this issue but to no avail. Booting up in safe mode makes no difference. In desperation I re-installed the OS, but to no avail. My several and extended communications with Adobe online help have left me chatting with what sounded like a couple of uni students from India who had insufficient understanding of English, Macs and Acrobat. After 3 weeks my case has been closed twice by Adobe who report that they believe my issue is resolved and have therefore closed my case. Great!!! What's more, occasionally Safari is presented online with a pdf file which it attempts to load, and then crashes.
This issue has seriously affected my ability to work with and create pdf's which in my work as a medical researcher is essential. To add insult to injury, I have wasted too many precious hours attempting to rectify the situation.
The bottom line is caveat emptor (buyer beware). Adobe it seems are committed to making a sale but not to follow-up, service or genuine concern for their customers. When some company produces a less buggy (and cheaper) alternative I will be definitely be buying their wares.
In the interim, if anybody out there can advise me as to how to get Acrobat working again, I would be most grateful.
    Have a great day.
    David

When you reinstalled Acrobat, did you use the uninstaller? Also the uninstaller still leaves some files not removed.
If your using OSX.4.11 go to Find file and type in Acrobat, find any files (not .pdf's) that are in the Library > Application support and Preferences.  Remove all traces of any of these files. Look both in Main Library, and in Library in your User Folder (has name you gave computer when you installed system).
It appears your have a corrupt file.
Many problems can be traced down to corrupt file(s) in Application Support or Preferences. Preference file will regenerate though any customizations you did will be lost.
Have you installed more than the two Copies allowed (by accident)?
Also, if you have tied to a a common Server/Network and both have computers running at same time, might have caused this. (unless you bought at site license if Adobe sells such).

  • How can I prevent Aperture from playing slideshow when hitting the play button on the keyboard?

I am getting a bit frustrated by the fact that the play button on the keyboard, which I use all the time for controlling audio playback in iTunes and now Spotify, is assigned to starting the slideshow in Aperture. Playing a slideshow is something I never use, and is something that causes the beachball of death to appear every time. It does not make sense to me that the slideshow overrules the audio playback in iTunes. Help is much appreciated...

In Aperture the keyboard shortcuts are defined in the Command Editor.
To open the Command Editor,  go to the Aperture menu -> Commands -> Customize
and in the search field enter "slideshow". Remove or replace the key binding you find there, if it is the one you want to use in iTunes.

  • How can I prevent Aperture from deleting pics while tethering?

Using Nikon D90 & Aperure 3 on a brand new iMac.
Now Aperture is deleting pictures without asking as they import (tethering) to the current aperture project.
Aperture 2 gave us the option of storing the photos in the memory card as well. It's always safer to have the user decide and manage the fate of the precious pics. Since the process of tethering is not 100% perfect, we have a big problem not being able to backup the memory card as well.
    Please help.

I believe the permissions should already be set, according to my fstab:

The usb drive has no hardware switch, and thunar mounted it I believe, through either gvfs or thunar-volman. I did find this entry in journalctl:

  • Preventing iTunes from launching when connecting iPhone?

I just want to put my iPhone in the cradle to charge it, not sync it or open any apps or anything else. Just charging. I have turned off the "automatic sync" feature in iTunes, so at least it doesn't sync every time i put my phone back, but I would really like to be able to not having to close iTunes all the time. It was easy fixing the auto-launch for iPhoto - is there a similar (or any, for that matter) that can fix the same thing for iTunes? Thx.
(BTW, I have all the software upgrades possible.)

There is a couple ways to accomplish this
    1. In the Summary screen uncheck automatically sync. Keep in mind you will now how to tell it when to sync.
    2. If you go to iTunes Preferences, then Syncing. You and Disable Syncing of any devices connecting to iTunes. And you will have to manually press the button to sync

  • Deleting Old Gmail Address Prevents Skype From Lau...

    Greetings,
I have an old email account with gmail, i.e. "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]," that I have attemped to delete the Google+ profile for. The deletion prevented Skype from launching on my Mac, OS X. Hence I had to reactivate the Google+ profile.
The email address currently used with my Skype account is "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]," and this is what shows in the Skype control panel as well as the account.
Does anyone have an idea as to what would cause such a thing? It makes no sense to me, however I'm no Skype guru. I really need to delete the account@gmail Google+ profile.
    Thank you,

It has been a while since I looked at something similar, but I think I found that Gmail remembers all the addresses you have received email from or replied to. There might be a setting within the Gmail account when you sign into it from the computer.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction.
