Database License model for EBusiness Suite

Hi,
Oracle EBusiness Suite comes with its own Oracle database Enterprise Edition.
1) Can I use the same database to develop some internal applications (in a seperate schema) which will query (not Modify) data from EBusiness suite?
2) We are also planning to procure a thirdy party tool, which will work on Oracle as the database. Can I use the same EBusiness Database, to create another schema for this third party tool?

License Model for Siebel CDI

Hello Team,
I have a question regarding the license model for a Siebel project of the following functionality:
1.- Opportunity Management

My question is:
If I quote the Siebel Sales Base Functionality, Do I need to quote also the Customer Hub (B2B) or Is that functionality already included in the Siebel Sales Base Functionality?

We have an unlimited user license for Novell.The Tree has multiple
Netware servers , all of our servers are Netware 6.5 SP7.
We are planning to deploy the OES 2 (OES2 SP3 + Suse Linux Enterprise
Server 10 SP4) on new server in an existing Novell Tree.
Please let us know the Licensing model for OES2?
Can we use the existing novell license(unlimited) for OES 2 or A separate
user/server license required? If required, what would be the price per user/server?

Any particular reason for OES2 when OES11SP2 is available?
You sould probably contact Novell sales or a partner to get the correct information regarding licensing.

Database Adapter Connection to EBusiness Suite Issue

I have a process that creates records in the EBusiness Suite using the BPEL Database Adapter. The adapter calls a single wrapper procedure that internally calls 4 TCA APIs one after the other. There appears to be an USERENV LANG issue during the final api that is called. The LANG needs to be US but the SQL Worksheet in JDeveloper BPEL Designer returns GB which I suspect is the value the adapter has when it connects to the eBusiness Suite.
How can the value of the LANG be set for the adapter ? My Environment variable for NLS_LANG is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1. My various Oracle homes are also set to this value.
I have also tried FND_GLOBAL.APPS_INITIALIZE procedure to effectively 'log on' to the EBS but this returns an error. The same wrapper package called directly from SQL*Plus works perfectly (where USERENV LANG is US). Solutions welcome !

The issue was resolved by adding the following to the start of the wrapper procedure:
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = ''AMERICAN''';

How to stop Jinitiator installation for ebusiness suite application

Right now every time I try to log into ebusiness suite, I will be prompted to install Jinitiator for the first time and if I install I will not be prompted from next time onwards, My requirement is to stop prompting even for the firs time.
we are planning to go live with Employee self service and we do not want employees to be dealing with any installations since self service application does not need jinitiator.
which configuration file/profile I have to change?
we are on 11.5.10.2 apps version.IE 7.

     you made a good point , I should not stop this but in my case 95% self service users and 5% forms users , so we are going other direction until we figure out a way to stop Jinitiator installation launch based on what responsibilities a user have (self sevice or self service+ forms...).
I tryed to cancel the installation multiple times it comes back again and again.

     its custom SS resp. I have setup user who just have one self service resp. but still launches Jinitiator installation.

     no thats not how it is working, I have tested this (logged in as a user who just have custom self service responsibilities, still the Jinitiator installation starts up on log in and as I click on any link inside the responsibility).Even if I cancel first time it comes back again and again.

What's the licensing model for diagnostic pack or tuning pack in GC

Is it licensed for the number of databases it monitors in GC? i.e. if we add a database to GC, do we need to buy more license?

You don't have to pay for Duet Enterprise twice. Duet Enterprise is a product developed jointly by MSFT and SAP, and both MSFT and SAP sell it. Duet Enterprise provides access to SAP data and processes from MSFT SharePoint 2010, so yes, naturally you need SharePoint licenses from MSFT. You already have SAP professional user licenses for the SAP backend access, so the only product you need to buy is Duet Enterprise for the number of SAP users you are planning to accomodate. As for the price, you can get a quote from your account executive.
If you want to provide access to SAP to additional users, you may consider buying Gateway licenses. Talk to your account executive about the cost effective options.

Oracle RCM v. RAC for eBusiness suite

Hello,
We're about to install Oracle eBusiness, and one strong user requirement is that OLTP is no way degraded by BATCH activity that may run simultaneously.
The choice is currently between:
a) 1 LPAR (4CPU/16Gb memory) servicing both OLTP and BATCH workloads, with resource distribution being managed by the Oracle Resource Consumer Manager.
b) 2 LPARs (2CPU each/8Gb memory each) using RAC, with one LPAR dedicated to OLTP workload, and the other dedicated to BATCH workload.
The second configuration seems like wasted resources when only one workload is running, but...
- Does RAC offer better protection against workload interference than RCM, which seems designed for this purpose?
- RCM does not handle memory management between the different plans. In the RAC configuration, both workloads have dedicated memory (8Gb/LPAR). In our RCM configuration (with a single LPAR), the amount of memory is double (16Gb). What's the preferred configuration?
What would your recommendation be?

Resource Manager and RAC are not mutually exclusive.
RAC provides the ability to scale more users into the application. RAC also provides the ability to separate the application into various communities (OLTP on instance 1,2,3 and batch on instance 4). As long as the I/O is not a bottleneck, RAC is excellent for such scaling.
RM provides the ability to manage resource allocation within a specific instance, allowing finer grained control of CPU, at the SERVICE level. This goes a long way towards a possible goal of instance consolidation on a server.
There is also a HA component to RAC that is not available in RM.
Depending on your needs, you may want to mix both.

The App server is running on RedHat Linux 4.5 – 32 bits and the DB server is running on HP-UX 11.31 - 64 bits. As a part of the ebs upgrade to 12.1.3, the customer intends to migrate the DB server to a new OS and the app server from 32 Bit Linux to 64 Bit Linux.
Can anyone throw light on what are the parameters and share experience which need to be considered while recommending the right operating system (OS) for running the DB server in this caseI assume you are already on R12.1.1 version. I belive its better to work on Same OS for apps+db tier.

Archive Log Generation in EBusiness Suite

Hi,
I am responsible for EBusiness suite 11.5.10.2 AIX Production server. Until last week (for the past 1.5 years), there were excessive archive log generation (200 MB for every 10 mins) which has been reduced to (200 MB for every 4.5 hours).
I am unable to understand this behavior. The number of users still remain the same and the usage is as usual.
Is there a way I can check what has gone wrong? I could not see any errors also in the alert.log
Please suggest what can be done.
(I have raised this issue in Metalink Forum also and awaiting a response)

Log/archive logs generation is directly related to the level of activities on the database, so it is almost certain that the level of activities have dropped significantly.
If possible, can you run this query and post the result:

EBusiness Suite User "Auto-provisioning" and "Self-Request" Problem

I have two types of OIM User, Staff and Contingent
Staff (Role = Full-Time)
Contingent (Role = Contractor / Role = Consultant)
Resource Object: eBusiness Suite User
Here's my RO configuration:
Auto Pre-populate: true
Allow Multiple: true
Self Request Allowed: true
Allow All: true
Auto-Launch: true
EBS Connector, by default has two forms:
UD_EBS_UO: Object Form
UD_EBS_USER: Process Form
I have requirement which will auto-provision eBusiness Suite User resource to Staff users.
Originally, UD_EBS_OU is the table name used by the RO. For auto-provisioning to work, I have implemented it this way:
First, I have defined a User Group for Staff and assign an Access Policy to it (for users with Role == Full-Time).
Then, I have detached Object Form UD_EBS_UO from the RO. This way, when Staff user is created in OIM, it is automatically provisioned with eBusiness Suite User, though it won't have a Resource Form, only a Process Form. Process Form fields are automatically pre-populated with values (via my Pre-populate adapters).
Now my problem is during Self-Request. Contingent user doesn't get auto-provisioned with EBS RO, but he can self-request for it. Problem is, since I detached the Object Form from the RO, user is not seeing any form during request. And I have a requirement that approver of the request should also be able to view/modify the details of the request form. But that is not possible now that Object Form does not exist for this RO.
Is it possible that Self-Request and Auto-Provisioning works both ways under the same Resource Object? How do I configure that? Appreciate your quick response and help. :)

Yes I have set permissions to all users for the Object Form.
It is required for me to have both Self Request and Auto-provisioning work for eBusiness Suite RO.
During approval, however, the approver needs to see the Object Form (where he can view/modify its values before approving it). That's impossible for me since I detached the Object Form from the Resource Object. I need do to this for auto-provisioning to work.
It seems that it doesn't work both ways. Any other suggestions?

How do you change the window size for Ebusiness Suite after you log in. Currently it displays at 100% of the screen. I want to set it smaller, at some %

I don't know if there is a way to set this. Some user's may prefer different sizes of window, depending on their job duties. For example, we have 170 Systems document management integrated with purchasing and payables so users shrink the Oracle window to fill about 60% of the screen while 170 uses the remaining 40% to display the scanned document.
