Database name still existing!

hi,
on 8i, a created a database named xyz, then i uninstalled oracle from system, and deleted all from related to oracle. Also in task manager i stopped the Oracle.exe.
when i installed oracle 8i server on my system , and created a database as xyz .
It gave a message as database xyz already exsits!!
Can u tell me reason that why the database was not deleted, and how can it be deleted?
Thanks!!

helloooooooooooooooo jagjeet,how r u
but i think there is no need to delete the listener service.
the main problem that Sumit Jeswani faced is
database Name already existing when it create database with same name.
so i think after removing with oradim
it will use same database name (xyz)
thanks

  • Database name resolution OID

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie on OID matter. I understood, to have database names resolution in a central place, the only way to go is OID.
    Before 10G you had oracle names, after that OID must be used.
    OID (latest version) consists of LDAP services and a OID repository (oracle database).
    My question is, can a database name still be resolved if the OID repository is down.
    Thanks,
    Frank

    OID should be up to resolve SID. You would need setup LDAP failover solution or tnsnnames.ora for fallback.

  • Error: The specified mailbox database [Mailbox Database Name] does not exist, when you try to export mailbox in Exchange 2007

    [Symptom]
    ======================
    In Exchange 2007, when you want to export mailbox to a .pst file, you should run the
    Export-Mailbox cmdlet from a 32-bit computer that has the following installed:
    The 32-bit version of the Exchange management tools
    Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 SP2 or later versions
    If not, you may encounter the following error message:
    You check that you have these required installed, but you get the error below when you run Export-Mailbox in EMS.
    “The specified mailbox database [Mailbox Database Name] does not exist.”
    [Cause Analysis]
    =======================================
    This is because that the account you use to run Export-Mailbox cmdlet don’t have the Exchange Server Administrator role assigned.
    You can check if this account has been delegated the Exchange Server Administrator role through the following path.
    EMC -> Organization Configuration-> Check permissions in the result pane.
    To delegate this Exchange Server Administrator role, right click on the
    Organization Configuration node and choose Add Exchange Administrator,
    you will see the Add Exchange Administrator window.

    Hi,
    Based on my test, if you make the user the owner of the database (rather than a user with the db_owner role), when you create a query, it creates it under the dbo schema rather than DOMAIN\username.
    Steps to do so (in Management Studio):
    Right click database, select Properties
    Click File
    Change Owner in the textbox
    OK to confirm
    Downside - other users under db_owner role will still have their username appended. So schemas have to be created for these users.

  • Global query block is causing a DNS server to fail a query with error code Name Error exists in the DNS database for WPAD

    Global query block is causing a DNS server to fail a query with error code Name Error exists in the DNS database for WPAD on a Windows 2008 server.

    The global query block list is a feature that prevents attacks on your network by blocking DNS queries for specific host names.  This feature has caused the DNS server to fail a query with error code NAME ERROR for wpad.contoso.com. even though data
    for this DNS name exisits in the DNS database.  Other queries in all locally authoritative zones for other names that begin with labels in the block list will also fail, but no event will be logged when further queries are blocked until the DNS server
    service on this computer is restarted.

  • Database Deleted that had all the Arbitration Mailboxes, AD accounts still exist.

    So in doing a little house cleaning on Exchange 2010 in a new environment I'm noticing that the Arbitration Mailboxes do not exist but the accounts exist in AD.
    I ran the below command and got that output.
    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Ft Name, Database
    Name
    Database
    SystemMailbox{1f05a927-7ba6-4008-81eb-7c42e5be81f5}         Old-Database
    SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}         Old-Database
    FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042         Old-Database
    "Old-Database" does not exist in my DAG nor do any of the associated files are listed in any of the Exchange Volumes.  In AD Users I see all three AD accounts.  I've tried to move requests, knowing of course that a mailbox doesn't exist
    so might not work but just giving it a try, and of course it failed.  I've tried to enable the mailbox for the account, which I think would be the closest solution but I think it is trying to recreate the account in the old database that doesn't exist.
    So I guess what I'm trying to do is enable all the mailboxes but have it recreated in a different database.
    Unless my thought process is entirely wrong I'm was hoping for assistance with next steps or the powershell command to accomplish what I'm doing.  I did read this in another post though and to run this command.  I'm hesitant as the poster seemed
    hesitant initially.

  • The Bug about 'DB_SECONDARY_BAD' still exists in BerkeleyDB4.8!

    The Bug about 'DB_SECONDARY_BAD' still exists in BerkeleyDB4.8?
    I'm sorry for my poor English, But I just cannot find anywhere else for help.
    Thanks for your patience first!
    I'm using BDB4.8 C++ API on Ubuntu 10.04, Linux Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic
    $uname -a
    $Linux wonpc 2.6.32-24-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Thu Sep 16 14:17:33 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
    When I update(overwrite) a record in database, I may get a DB_SECONDARY_BAD exception,
    What's worse, This case doesn't always occures, it's random. So I think it probably a bug
    of BDB, I have seen many issues about DB_SECONDARY_BAD with BDB4.5,4.6...
    To reproduce the issue, I make a simplified test program from my real program.
    The data to be stroed into database is a class called 'EntryData', It's defined in db_access.h,
    where also defines some HighLevel API functions that hide the BDB calls, such as
    store_entry_data(), which use EntryData as its argument. The EntryData have a string-type
    member-data 'name' and a vector<string>-type mem-data 'labels', So store_entry_data() will
    put the real data of EntryData to a contiguous memory block. The get_entry_data() returns
    an EntryData builed up from the contiguous memory block fetched from database.
    The comlete test program is post following this line:
    /////////db_access.h////////////
    #ifndef __DB_ACCESS_H__

    It will store an EntryData named 'ubuntu' and two labels('linux', 'os') to database.
    Use the under command
    $ g++ -ldb_cxx -lboost_regex -lboost_program_options -o test_update test_update.cc db_access.cc directory.cc
    to get a test program that can update the existing records.
    To update the record, use the under command:
    $ ./test_update ubuntu -r linux -a canonical
    It will update the with the key 'ubuntu', with the label 'linux' removed and a new
    label 'canonical'.
    Great thanks to you if you've read and understood my code!
    I've said that the DB_SECONDARY_BAD exception is random. The same operation may cause
    exception in one time and may goes well in another time.
    As I've test below:
    ## Lines not started with '$' is the stdout or stderr.
    $ ./test_put linux os linus
    $ ./test_update linux -r os
    Old data| name: linux; labels: os linus
    New data| name: linux; labels: linus
    $ ./test_update linux -r linus
    Old data| name: linux; labels: linus
    New data| name: linux; labels:
    dbfile_bynam: DB_SECONDARY_BAD: Secondary index inconsistent with primary
    Db::put: DB_SECONDARY_BAD: Secondary index inconsistent with primary
    terminate called after throwing an instance of 'DbException'
    what(): Db::put: DB_SECONDARY_BAD: Secondary index inconsistent with primary
    已放弃
    Look! I've received a DB_SECONDARY_BAD exception. But thus exception does not always
    happen even under the same operation.
    For the exception is random, you may have not the "luck" to get it during your test.
    So let's insert a record by:
    $ ./test_put t
    and then give it a great number of labels:
    $ for((i = 0; i != 100; ++i)); do ./test_update t -a "label_$i"; done
    and then:
    $ for((i = 0; i != 100; ++i)); do ./test_update t -r "label_$i"; done
    Thus, the DB_SECONDARY_BAD exception is almost certain to happen.
    I've been confused by the problem for times. I would appreciate if someone can solve
    my problem.
    Many thanks!

    Hi gurues, I'm facing this issue with an IDES on MaxDB with Windows.
    System was up and running until someone tries to make an upgrade of the kernel. Since then we can not start our system. we tried to rollback kernel release to the previous one but it didn't work.
    When we start our system from MMC console we can see all process in green but work processes are in RUN state and after a few minutes they goes down with the following error

    Natalia, this system was not resored nor copied, it was up and running before kernel update. We did some of the tests you said and someothers, here are some outputs.

  • How can I get a report to use a DSN instead of a database name?

    DSNs are great things.  By using a DSN in a database connection string, you don't have to worry about what happens if you have to look at a different database, or if a database name changes.  All you have to do is change the database the DSN points to, and everything that was built using that DSN still works.
    Everything, that is, except Crystal Reports.
    I am using CR XI.  Our customer's database is named "Anneal", and it uses PostgreSQL.  I have several copies of that database, taken at different times and for different purposes, on my machine:  "Anneal", "AnnealTest", "Anneal_2_8_10", and on and on.  I also have a DSN named "WinCaps".  The reorts I have developed for this customer were set up to use an ODBC connection based on the WinCaps DSN.  But if WinCaps pointed to the "AnnealTest" database when it the report was created, and then I delete the AnnealTest database and change the WinCaps DSN to point to a database named "Anneal", and then try to open the report, I get a complaint that the AnnealTest database does not exist!  Yes, I know it doesn't exist.  I am expecting CR to use the DSN I told it to use, which should get me to the Anneal database.
    The fact that CR complains about the AnnealTest database tells me that internally, CR is retrieving the actual name of the database and storing that instead of storing the DSN name, completely defeating the purpose of the DSN.
    Is there any way I can set up my report to use whatever database the DSN happens to be pointing to, instead of the database the DSN pointed to at design time?
    Thanks very much!
    Rob Richardson

    Hi Rob,
    Crystal assumes you are setting location to the database and it stays that way when run. Yes we do keep the connection info in the RPT file.
    There's a few options that may help. First, can you upgrade to CR XI R2? It' still supported...
    Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
    Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    Second, in the report itself check on the Verify on first refresh, save the report and then test it on another PC connecting another database.
    Next option to to try these registry key changes, usual warnign about altering the registry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareBusiness ObjectsSuite 11.0Crystal ReportsDatabaseOptions - VerifyWhenDBDriverUpgraded = Yes
    And try changing this one also - DontAutoConvertODBC = Yes
    Close the Designer first or your changes won't stay.
    THey may have to simply verify the data manually and then save the report so the updated location info is saved in the Report.
    Crystal is very database dependant obviously so asumming changes made to the DSN are automatically updated can cause a lot of issues for the end user also but it depends on your point of view. We consider this working as expected.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Error:domain database does not exist

    Hi we are running Iplanet mssaging Server 5.2 p1 running in dirsync mode and iplanet directory server 5.1.We have configured th ldap settings of some of the users using the maildeliveryoption to mailbox and forward & we have set the mailforwarding attribute to forward the mail to a set of users.Now yesterday our smtp server panic & service stopped working.After removing the lock files in ../imta/tmp/ directory the service started working.But now for all the users for whom this forwarding of mails has been sent are getting there mails bounced.for other users for whom this option is not there the mail is getting delivered.The error recived is Illegal host / domain name.
    I ran imsimta test -rewrite -debug for a user whose mail is getting bounced and i get the following output.here attaching some of the lines Can anyone please guide me as to what the problem is?(nslookup is working).
    Does the imsimta cleandb might have corrupted the entries?

    Your first mistake. . .
    Hi we are running Iplanet mssaging Server 5.2 p1 running in dirsync mode
    please get off dirsync mode. There are bugs with dirsync that will never be fixed. 5.2p1 is well over a year old, and there're hundreds of fixed bugs there. 5.2p2 is available for free, on Sun's web site.
    You still have some dirsync problems.

  • Media Source - 'file of this name already exists' transfering tracks from Zen Micro to

    I've come home for the weekend, and I'm trying to transfer a few albums from my Zen Micro to my Mum's PC for her. Normally this works fine, but for some reason today I keep getting the message 'A file of this name already exists' for about 80% of the tracks I try to transfer. One or two tracks from each album will work and the rest will fail.
    These are new tracks and they definitely aren't already in her music library - I've double checked the C dri've too.
    I'm given the option to overwrite the exisiting tracks, so I gave that a try with one album, but the tracks still aren't didn't show on there once I'd transfered, despite the track number not going up, so god knows what's been overwritten with those!
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers!

    Your firmware is not the PlaysForSure version.
    Anyway, I just want to make sure that you have set up the directory and file naming convention correctly for MediaSource. Here is what you should do:
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

  • How to set a database name for fetching metadata?

    How can I tell an already-existing Connection what its database should be, in such a way that I can successfully get MetaData from the connection?
    If I use the following code, everything works fine:
         Connection connection;
         DatabaseMetaData metadata;
         ResultSet rs;
         connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://Localhost/archival", mUser, mPassword); // replace this line
         metadata = connection.getMetaData();
         rs = metadata.getTables(null, null, "%", null);
    But if I replace the fourth line above with these three lines:
         connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://Localhost/", mUser, mPassword);
         Statement stmt = connection.createStatement();
         stmt.execute("USE archival");
    then I get a SQLException "Incorrect database name: ''". I would really prefer to factor my getConnection() code so that it doesn't have to know what the database-name is, but in order to do that I need to be able to set the database-name after the connection has been created, and still get MetaData on the connection.
    TIA for any help!

    Umm I probably totally don't understand the question, but you can change the name in the IDE,
    and in code you can name it to whatever you want
    Dim WhatEverNameIWantToGive as new button Dim secondbutton = WhatEverNameIWantToGive
    or maybe you mean
    public class mybutton
    inherits button
    'your custom code here
    end class

  • Confusing with the Global Database Name and Instance Name

    Dear fellow DBA's and Experts,
    Good Day.
    We presently have an existing database registered (on V2 Exadata) with global database name as BIDEV.domainname.com. It has 4 instances viz., BIDEV1 and BIDEV2 which have the same service name as the instance name.
    Last week, on our new X4-2 Exadata, we tried to create a fresh database. While doing so, we entered the details as below in the installer:
    Global Database Name: BIDEV
    SID Prefix: BIDEV
    Service Name: BIDEV.
    Then upon the successful installation of the database, when we query
    1. (SELECT * FROM GLOBAL_NAME), it shows BIDEV as the global database name.
    2.
    SQL> sho parameter service
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    service_names                        string      BIDEV1
    3. Sho parameter name gives the below details:
    SQL> sho parameter name;
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    cell_offloadgroup_name               string
    db_file_name_convert                 string
    db_name                              string      BIDEV
    db_unique_name                       string      BIDEV
    global_names                         boolean     FALSE
    instance_name                        string      BIDEV_1
    lock_name_space                      string
    log_file_name_convert                string
    processor_group_name                 string
    service_names                        string      BIDEV1
    Curious to know why it created an instance name as BIDEV_1 instead as BIDEV1.
    Had tried another attempt on our test environment with SID prefix as BIDEV1, then the instance was created with the name as BIDEV1_1.
    Also, would like to know what happen if we give the Global Database Name as BIDEV.domainname.com for installing the same BIDEV database on a different server while the 1st server is still functional.
    Appreciate if someone could throw some light on the above confusion. Any reference material or source to the clarify the doubt.
    Warm Regards,
    Vikram.

    Hi Vikram,
    Your clustered database is not full RAC, it's RAC ONE node database. In RAC ONE node database, instance names are created in that format only (i.e.e dbname_1), I don't know if there is any way we can change it to dbname1. OR if you really want to change the instance name to dbname1 format, then you can convert RAC one node database to Full RAC, then remove instance and add another instance, I hope it would be added in dbname1 format. I have not tested it, test it on your test system first.
    You can find the database type in the output you shared,
    Type: RACOneNode

  • The system cannot resolve database name" while restoring AppSet

    Hello Everyone,
    I am having an issue restoring AppSet using Server Manager. The error I'm getting is the following:
    "The system cannot resolve the database name. Check that your connection with SQL Server still exists, or use another version of SQL Server".
    I suspect that some port(s) that's being used by Server Manager is closed... Is there a list of ports which need to be open between Application Server and Database Server?
    I'm running BPC 5.1 SP03 multi-server environment.
    Thanks in advance,
    Akim

    Tony,
    Thanks for the reply. I have all default settings for SQL/AS. BPC itself has no issues communicating between App/DB.
    I noticed an interesting thing... I can backup successfully with "Use backup files' folder path on a remote SQL server", but it fails if i backup localy to the application server. In a SQL Log I am seeing:
    BackupDiskFile::CreateMedia: Backup device '
    <AppServer Name>\SQLShare\ApShell.BAK' failed to create. Operating system error 53(The network path was not found.).
    Same with restore.
    Basically, my workaround is to restore SQL part from shared/remote location.
    Thanks,
    Akim
