Hi Hussein,
1. we have our database on Server A and application on Server B, we want to change the port no of database, please let us know the procedure
2. How can we check the number of users in application which are active not end dated/ also how to check the concurrent users
3. how to check the domain name of the server where oracle appllication is running
4. how is OC4J instance related to memory , no of processors and no of users?

Hi HusseinAs this is addressed to a person called Hussein, does this disqualify anyone else here from answering?
1. we have our database on Server A and application on Server B, we want to change the port no of database, please let us know the procedureWhy do you feel the need to change the port number? And what port specifically? There is not really a database port as such as the Oracle Listener accepts client-server connections for local database instances - not the database instance itself.
2. How can we check the number of users in application which are active not end dated/ also how to check the concurrent usersUnclear what you mean. Are you referring to application users in the application tier? In which case, wrong forum for the question.
Or are you referring to database user sessions? And what do you imply with "+concurrent users+"? All Oracle database sessions are concurrent. There's no concept of connected/non-connected database user sessions. Or are you referring to active and non-active user sessions in the database? Or perhaps to dedicated versus shared server sessions in the database? Or a combination of this and active and non-active sessions?
3. how to check the domain name of the server where oracle appllication is runningO/s platform? And note that this is a database* forum - not an application server forum.
4. how is OC4J instance related to memory , no of processors and no of users?Again.. note that this is a database* forum - not an application server forum.
PS. Your profile says 126 questions. 114 unresolved. In that case, it would seem that you are not getting the answers you are looking for here.. in which case you need a serious rethink of why not.. and whether you are asking the right questions in the correct forums? Or it could mean that you simply cannot be bothered to follow up answers to your questions and indicate whether these sufficed or not.. in which case, why should anyone bother with answers if there will be zero feedback from you?

Purpose of database port on installation screen?
What is the purpose of the database port on the ZR5 installation screen?
It seems to come up before you pick whether you're using ZCM or config file, which I find odd.
The docs seem to indicate that if you select ZCM config, it'll know about whatever database ZCM is using (ie: external MS SQL or Oracle, etc.)
But by then you've already set a database port?
So what should we use for the Database port? Is that the port that our Oracle database is (for ZCM?)
Or does ZR5 use some other database as well as whatever ZCM is using?
If the latter, WHERE does this database get installed and what is it used for?
(this is obviously different than ZRS)

yes, see above

on "this" server, and where do you think the reports get stored?

Thanks Shaun. I was hoping that it would use the External Database, rather than me now having to maintain two separate databases, including one we don't "officially" support from an Enterprise standpoint (our official database we are to use is Oracle 11g R2, and in some cases, MS SQL when necessary). -
Hi,
VS2013, SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB, EF 6.0, VB, desktop application with an end user database
What is a reliable method to follow when there is a schema change for an end user database used by a deployed application? In other words, each end user has their own private data, but the database needs to be expanded for additional features, etc.
I list here the steps it seems I must consider. If I've missed any, please also inform:
(1) From the first time the application is installed, it should have already moved all downloaded database files to a separate known location, most likely some sub-folder in <user>\App Data.
(2) When there's a schema change, the new database file(s) must also be moved into the location in item (1) above.
(3) The application must check to see if the new database file(s) have been loaded, and if not, transfer the data from the old database file(s) to the new database file(s).
(4) Then the application can operate using the new schema.
This may seem basic, but for those of us who haven't done it, it seems pretty complicated. Item (3) seems to be the operative issue for database schema changes. Existing user data needs to be preserved, but using the new schema. I'd like
to understand the various ways it can be done, if there are specific tools created to handle this process, and which method is considered best practice.
(1) Should we handle the transfer in a 'one-time use' application method, i.e. do it in application code.
(2) Should we handle the transfer using some type of 'one-time use' SQL query. If this is the best way, can you provide some guidance if there are different alternatives for how to perform this in SQL, and where to learn/see examples?
(3) Some other method?
Thanks.
Best Regards,
AlanHi Uri,
Thank you kindly for your response. Also thanks to Kalman Toth for showing the right forum for such questions.
To clarify the scenario, I did not mean to imply the end user 'owns' the schema. I was trying to communicate that in my scenario, an end user will have loaded their own private data into the database file originally delivered with the application.
If the schema needs to be updated for new application features, the end user's data will of course need to be preserved during the application upgrade if that upgrade includes a database schema change.
Although I listed step 3 as transferring the data, I should have made more clear I was trying to express my limited understanding of how this process "might work", since at the present time I am not an expert with this. I suspected my thinking
is limited and someone would correct me.
This is basically the reason for my post; I am hoping an expert can point me to what I need to learn about to handle database schema changes when application upgrades are deployed. For example, if an SQL script needs to be created and deployed
then I need to learn how to do that. What's the best practice, or most reliable/efficient way to make sure the end user's database is changed to the new schema after the upgraded application is deployed? Correct me if I'm wrong on this,
but updating the end user database will have to be handled totally within the deployment tool or the upgraded application when it first starts up.
If it makes a difference, I'll be deploying application upgrades initially using Click Once from Visual Studio, and eventually I may also use Windows Installer or Wix.
Again, thanks for your help.
Best Regards,

Tabular form Update Error,"Current version of data in database has changed
I'm getting an error when updating a Apex Tabular form. It's complaining that the row id's are out-of-sync. The error reads,' Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current row version identifier = "56DW5A8A7EBA3B42073AE6E71480A784" application row version identifier = "99B52A15F10E34647E9E18B6B7AE8C30" .
Has anyone received this error? Any solutions? Note that the primary is being populated by a trigger. I have another tabular form for a different application that updates without issue, this however, uses a sequence to update the primary key.
Thanks,
JamesMake sure that the form is defined such that it "knows" that the PK is being set by a trigger. Do not try to set it in the form if the trigger is doing it. Pretty much if a trigger attempt to modify any column that also was editable (including hidden columns) in the form, the two will conflict.
The other issue could be that do you have any items on the rows that are disabled? Disabled items are not sent to session state so Apex won't be able to properly compute the checksum and it'll find a discrepancy. -
CSCtg82170: ip sla target port changes to 1967
I've been impacted by this bug significantly. The sla's are used for gathering stats that populate a customer portal. The bug basically causes the sla to fail when the event occurs and there's no indication that it's occurred.
For no reason the target port changes to 1967 which is reserved for IP SLA control packets.
example:
ip sla 778482511
udp-jitter 10.197.197.253 15426 source-ip 192.168.15.254 num-packets 20 interval 300

frequency 300
ip sla schedule 778482511 life forever start-time now
becomes

We currently have extra monitoring/checking in order to get on top of the issue but a fix would be really great. We're having a similar issue with icmp-echo in that our source-ip address changes quite frequently in the running config (7201 rtr). The destination ip also appears to change when viewing sh ip sla configuration but not in the running config. We're currently running 12.4(24)T1. Looks like we'll be doing an IOS upgrade in the near future...

APEX Error: Current version of data in database has changed since user init
Hi:
APEX 4.1
I have a page with 2 regions. The first region is built with custom SQL using the APEX APIs. I have a process the can successfully update records.
I built the second region with the tabular form wizard. This created the multi row update process.
I created a region button and the two process respond to that button: process for first region, then process for the second region.
When I add data to the second region and click the region button, I get the following error:
Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current row version identifier = "A884FA378C851786DDFE3A33709CB23C" application row version identifier = "9ED06A0F09F80F054AB781CA24CC4CBF"
I know it has something to do with these two types of regions being on the same page, because when I create a page of just the table form, the data is updated.
Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks.Hello
If you try update the same data from 2 places you will got this message because:
Apex forms have locking mechanism.
1. During fetch data to form apex calculate checksum from every items on the forms.
2. Before update process apex again fetch data from database (in background) and calculate checksum again if checksum from point 1 is the same like this checksum APEX realy update data with new item values. If no, You will got your error (apex secure You, You realy don't know what you update).
According this if you change data which you use in the form between 1 and 2 point you will got this "error". You can check it for example if you change data from SQL/Plus or from other form.
Probably you forget about this locking mechanism during designe your process from APEX API <- successfully update records (maybe successful but you don't know what you updated) : )
If I helped You please check correct or helpful :) -

Thanks for the help.Oh i see ..,i never think if that is the source of the MRU
error.
Ok ..,
Now ..., i have new question .., how can i change so the the primay key in detail table (enrollment table), i have one primary key with two columns .., if you don't understand what i mean ..,
check this alter table statement :
ALTER TABLE ENROLLMENT
ADD CONSTRAINT ENR_PK PRIMARY KEY
(STUDENT_ID
,SECTION_ID) ;
Now the question is .., when i using wizard to create master detail form .., html db automatically make student_id and section_id as the primary at "application level (html db)" .., how can i change this behaviour ..,
i want the html db not treat this two column as primary key ?
Do i have to create master detail form manually to accomplish this ?
Thanks before .., sorry if my english is not too good. -
Hi,

Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes/
Hello everyone, i've recently had some trouble with corrupted Aperture library. This has all been fixed now however in the process of trying to fix things up I stumbled accross Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes/ folder - I've been trying to clear some space from my HDD and notice that this folder is enourmous. Almost as large as the preview, master or thumbnail folders.
It measures over 40gb which accounts for over 20 per cent of my library size. What excectly does this folder do (Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes). There a hundreds of plist files measuring several 100mb each.
I know I can safely delete things like preview and thumbnail and rebuilt the database however have been hestitant to touch this folder as I don't know what it does. Can someone shed some light on the purpose of this folder. Google searches have just come up with threads about disk warrior reporting the folder as having errors but doesn't say what the folder does. Can I delete to save space? I'm concerned this folder contains the changes made to masters meaning i can't revered changes in the versions.Just as a test I took one of my libraries that I do this sort of thing to and removed the Changes folder and ran Aperture on the library. Aperture worked fine. The library behaved just as expected.
I've never paid much attention to this folder before and it's not clear just what 'changes' they are referring to but I wouldn;t get to worked up about it. Just make sure you have good working backups (as you should have anyway) and remember the next time you run DiskWarrior you'll probably see these errors.

SPFILE is a dynamic file so it does not need any sort of server restart. Also though it can be readable by any utility which can read any binary, its not advisable to read spfile like this. The best (recommended ) way is to create a pfile from it and then alter it if you need it.
