Database recovery - Thiry party tool

Please let me know if there are any third party applications available that can be used in data recovery process in Oracle ?
Thanks

Your reply does not help me .
I know about RMAN.
Edited by: Matt on May 21, 2011 5:00 AMAnd rman is all you need to know about oracle backup.
But if you insist on discovering other tools, google is your friend. But I would caution you, these tools fall into one of two catagories
The first are tools that are really just providing a menu or gui front-end to calling rman, providing a bit friendlier interface to rman. These are expensive solutions in search of a problem.
The second discard rman completely, thinking they are smarter than oracle about how to back up an oracle database. If you use these products, you'd better be very, VERY good at oracle recovery, because when the excrement hits the ventilation system, Oracle Support will not provide much, if any, help.
But of course, since you are, by your own admission, just a student, you won't be able to afford any of these tools anyway.

  • Need connectivity of SAP Oracle with Third Party tool with dsn

    Hi Friends,
We need to access SAP's Oracle database with third party tool with the help of dsn creation. For that we need to create 2 staging tables and need a new segment for these tables. Our data will move from SAP transactions to these 2 tables and we want to fetch this data via dsn into another third party S/W.
I am unaware of such kind of working, can you please help me how to create new segment and how to create dsn for accessing tables in this segment.
    Our requirement is as follow.
The staging tables are required in the SAP database with user name and password. The user should have all access to the staging table only.
Requesting your kind help on this issue. Please suggest for further processing of activity.
    Rgds, Krishan Raheja.

    Hi,
Common way to integrate SAP (database) with third party Application is to use and implement SAP Connector (Java or .Net).
Using this, you can fetch the data from SAP database to use it in Third party application.
As per my understanding the method you mentioned, will void the SAP database license term.
So Please check before doing such configuraiton. Also that method is NOT recommended..

  • Third party tool for faster message recovery?

Does anyone know if a third party tool for message recovery?  Restoring mailbox data from a Recovery Mailbox Database is very time consuming.  One of our Mailbox databases is almost 400 GB, and the restore alone is timely.  Our Recover Deleted
Items is set to 14 days.  We could increase this recovery setting, but there may be situations where users are looking for data over 30 days deleted.
Thanks in advance for any input.

    Hi Fran,
What version of Exchange server do you have? Based on my knowledge, Exchange 2013 can keep the deleted items for 24,855 days.

  • What are the third party tools available for Encryption in Oracle database?

    Dear All,
Can you please help me with the below question?
What are the third party tools available for Encryption in Oracle database? Please let me know if you know their feedback and also licensing/cost information

Why would you spend money to purchase a third-party tool that will be, almost by definition, less secure than the tools inside the product you already own and paid for?
    http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/pkgs/dbms_crypto.html
But were I to have any to recommend one I would not do so without knowing information you seem to consider unimportant such as:
    1. Operating system
    2. Database edition and version
    3. What type of data needs to be secured
    4. What level of security is required

  • CONNECT ORACLE11g database in sharepoint 2013 without using metaman or any third party tool

    Hi!
I want to access ORACLE db and bring it as an external list  in SharePoint 2013. How can it be achieved without using third party tools? So far i referred Creating
web service, .Net connectivity assembly or crafting the BCS xml model file manually are the techniques that can be employed to achieve. Can anyone share the code to create External content type and External list by adopting any one of the techniques.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
To connect SharePoint to your Oracle Database, you should use the BCS.
You will find here what is the structure of the XML File to create to access your Oracle DB.

  • What easy to use (MS or third party) tool can I use to create and host a webservice API on a SQL server database

I'm looking for a (MS or third party) tool with which I can create, publish and host webservice API's on a custom SQL database. For example a API which presents all customers, or validates a user login.
I prefer a tool that can be used without .NET programming skills, just using database scripts and queries.
Could somebody suggest a tool for this?
    Many thank,
    Slowytech

Use Visual Studio (Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web ) and the WebAPI framework.  You can easily create REST endpoints for your data.  You can even
use ODATA to enable RESTful queries over your data.

  • Oracle Third Party Tools and Oracle Database

    Hi
There are ample third party tools that can be used with an Oracle Database. But does Oracle have some support programs (recommendations which tools are best along with Oracle Database).
So sort of link or document would be a great help.
    Adith

Oracle isn't responsible if you have a bad experience with a third party tool (i.e. the tool doesn't do what you want it to do as well as you'd like it to do it). If the database is the source of the problem, Oracle support is happy to help diagnose and resolve the problem, though you may need to provide a test case that doesn't involve the third party tool. It's certainly not a violation of any license agreements to use a third party tool unless you allow the tool to do something you're not allowed to do (i.e. access the AWR repository if you haven't licensed that access).

  • Replication like third party tool.

Does anyone know of any third party tool that can all you to duplicate data, may be with some time unit apart, over on to another database server. So, that you can offload reporting on to that second DB server. This almost like oracle's standby database but database is not in recovery mode all the time.
I know you could use Oracle replication to replicate data. However, I dont know if you can use replication to keep it say half an hour behind.
I work with someone that says that there is something like this for DB2.
    Thanks for your help.

Spatemp, DataMirror Transformation Server can do this for you. In addition to continuous mirroring, Transformation Server can do net-change on a scheduled basis or a full refresh. DataMirror Transformation Server offers high-performance, point-to-point, bi-directional and transformational mirroring between any combination of Oracle, Sybase, DB2 UDB, Flat Files, SQL Server and PointBase. More information is available on our web-site if you wish to investigate this further (http://www.datamirror.com).

  • Open hub Destinations - Third-Party Tools As Destinations

Dear all, below is the SAP Help process flow steps. I am quiet clear of all the steps except the APIs. Where do we define these APIs? When it says "You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction" where do I use it? Is it in the 3rd party tool? or is it in SAP BI.
If it is in 3rd party tool, where in 3rd party tool. Do I need to write as code ? or would I have an option in the 3rd party tool?
If someone can help me with Microsoft connector using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages to SAP BI that would be helpful.
Where in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages can I use/put this APIs? Any help Plzz
If it is in SAP BI where in SAP BI do I have to use these APIs? Any help is highly appreciated
    Regards,
    KK
    Process Flow:
Extraction to the third-party tool can be executed as follows:
           1.      You define an open hub destination with Third-Party Tool as the destination type.
           2.      You create an RFC destination for your third-party tool and enter it in the definition of the open hub destination.
           3.      You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction.
           4.      You either start extraction immediately or include it in a process chain. You can also start this process chain from the third-party tool using process chain API RSPC_API_CHAIN_START. The extraction process then writes the data to a database table in the BI system.
           5.      When the extraction process is finished, the system sends a notification to the third-party tool using API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY.
           6.      The extracted data is read by API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_READ_DATA.
           7.      The status of the extraction is transferred to the monitor by API RSB_API_OHS_REQUEST_SETSTATUS.

It's been a along time since i worked with open hub, but here goes:
The Third Party tool needs parameters or switches to work correctly. Think of the old DOS commanda the  "/a" "/b" suffix.
The APIs are simply a way to pass these parameters from the BW source to the Third Party target.
If your tool does not need them, don't worry about them.

  • How to integrate DRM with third party tool for loading metadata in SQL table

    Experts,
I am new to DRM and I have a requirement in which we want to integrate DRM with third party tool(lets say SQL table) as target and load metadata from DRM (Parent node, name , alias etc) to SQL table (same column name)
Is there any way we can integrate DRM to export the same to table directly instead to files. If yes what are the steps we have to follow.
Is there anyway we can customize DRM to execute queries or run batch
Can I have a basic example please.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,

    1. Use DRM Export to Table option, for that create an External Connection first for the Target Database and select the respective Tables to which you wish to Export the Hierarchy information.
    2. You can perform most of the DRM Actions via the DRM_BATCH_CLIENT.exe.
Please refer to Using the Data Relationship Management Batch Client of DRM User guide.
let me know if you have any issues.

  • Third party tools similar to graph6i

    Hi all,
Starting this year, we moved our forms6i and reports6i application to 9ias R2 setup. However, for graphs we were told to keep using graphs6i because OSS for some dumb reason, removed graph from their tool list in 9ias. We have few complex graphs which has 4-5 layers of drill-down and based on clicking a bar/pie on graph1, it populates graph2, graph3 on the same page. It returns data to form application too which is used when we press a button on forms.
When we try to port that in reports9i, it doesnot have all those features as graphs and we have to show that in a pdf/html report with hyperlink which management didnot like.
Does someone has idea of any third party tools which can fetch data from database and show some really nice drill-down graphs in 9ias R2 mode, 9i database and it can return values to forms too?
    Any inputs would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Abhi Kumar.

    Hello,
There is no direct way to see user and group broken permission within a site collection. However you can write powershell script to get the permission. You can modify the below script based on your need and export result in CSV. You may also need to add
code to iterate all subsites within site collection.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14242.sharepoint-2010-export-all-unique-permissions-from-site-collection-using-powershell.aspx
    http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/windows-management/b/weblog/archive/2012/09/25/sharepoint-security-reporting-using-powershell
Codeplex tool is also available to check permission but it is not always fulfill business need. You may also look at this if it suits you.

    Hope it could help

    Oracle 9iEE 9.2
    OWB 9.2
Quest Software Data Dictionary for Oracle
Other 3rd party tools accessing Oracle RDBMS
We have installed Oracle 9iEE, and OWB 9.2. OWB Client and Server components have been installed into their own 'oracle_home' directories. All software is installed on the one machine.
We have also installed Quest Software Data Dictionary for Oracle on the machine.
We have found 2 TNSNAMES.ORA files on the machine....one for the database itself, and the other in the OWB Client 'Oracle home'
The OWB client connects with the database ok, but the Quest software and other 3rd party tools come back with the error of TNS-12154. 3rd party tools were ok while we had 9iPE installed. But have stopped connecting with the oracle database since the installation of 9iEE and OWB, and come up with the TNS-12154 error each time we try.
We have 3 'Home' entries in the Registry under HKEY_LOCALMACHINE>SOFTWARE>ORACLE. One for 9iEE, and 2 others each for the OWB Server & Client.

My guess is the 2 TNSNAMES.ORA files on the machine, and the contents of the Registry 'Home' entries are causing the issues. But I'm not sure of what actions to take, and why initially the service instances come up as 'UKNOWN', and then the other 2 appear as 'READY'. ora92ee.mydomain has 2 instances of the service....baffling.
Is it to do with installing 9iEE on a single machine, rather than a Client/Server environment?
Any ideas upon how we can get our 3rd party tools to successfully connect to the Oracle database again will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • RFC destination for your third-party tool

    Hello SAP Guru's,
I have recently established external db connect for an iseries database. Now developers wants to use the open hub destination to extract data to non-SAP systems. They are using API: RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY to connect a third-party tool to the BI system and use this third-party tool to distribute data to other non-SAP systems. To do so they need RFC destination for the third party tool. Could you tell me which RFC connection i have to use in SM59 ? I mean is it ABAP connection or TCP/IP connection or HTTP connection to external server?
I would highly appreciate any help on this.
    FYI:
I have already gone through below help link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/8de3f4743b22a8e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm

This will be of type TCP/IP.
You will need to create an RFC server application on the thirdparty system, and implement this function there. You will need to define that server application in your RFC destination definitions (host/Program).
You may need to read up RFC server help documentation; you can also browse the SAPGUI subfolders for RFC server sample applications and C code (if you have installed GUI in full, there should be such subfolders on your PC). You can also ask for help on 'application server' or 'abap' forums for this.

  • Trigger for blocking user using third party tool !

    raise_application_error(-

    end if;
    close c_check;
    end;
It works fine all normal user cannot access the database using above third party tools .
But the problem is , user with DBA privileges can access the database with generating an trace file . Is there any way to restrict DBA Privileged user ? or is there any mechanism to create a log/trace file so that If there any  DBA Privilege user acess to the Database , then we can get the information from that specified log/trace file ?
Waiting your kind reply ... ...

    Hi,
If the DBA users has the DBA role granted to them so they will by passes the logon trigger. For example, the SYSTEM user has the DBA role and the DBA role has the ADMINISTER DATABASE TRIGGER privilege. The ADMINISTER DATABASE TRIGGER by pass the logon trigger. If you want to restrict the access to a DBA user, then you need to revoke the ADMINISTER DATABASE TRIGGER privilege from the DBA role or grant individual privileges except the ADMINISTER DATABASE TRIGGER privilege to the DBA users.
