Database requirements for inventory

I'm neck deep in trying to learn zenworks inventory service. I've setup a
standalone test server and created all the necessary objects in consoleone.
But now I'm realizing that zenworks wants a database server. Excuse my
ignorance, but do I have to have a database server running to use inventory
services? If so, are there any free ones out there for testing? Also, I
understand that mysql is not supported because it does not support "stored
procedures". I checked www.mysql.com and found out that "stored
procedures" are now implemented in v. 5. Anyone out there tricked mysql to
run with the inventory service? Finally, is it possible to take advantage
of zfd features like remote wakeup, software scans, software metering
without the inventory service (through a toned down version of the
inventory service)? Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions (and
please be gentle).
Chad Brogan

does it come on the zfd 4 install cd? Where is the documentation to set it
up? (thanks for the quick reply)

  • What is Minimum database requirement for EBS R12

What is Minimum database requirement for EBS R12? for example if it works only with enterprise edition or with standard edition also.
    Regards,
    Sandeep V

Question is very interesting and very important. The link does not answer if "standard edition" can be used. Obviously, Rapid Install installs EE database. But we can move the database to another dedicated database server.
And the question becomes "Can we move it to a Standard Edition database server"? Huge ramifications on costs. Extremely important. Nowhere I could find positive answer. I wonder if anyone had found an answer?AFAIK, it is not supported.
My own research shows that VIS database (built at home) has partitioned tables in APPLSYS and APPS schemas. Partitioning is not supported in Standard Edition.Correct.
I wonder if we can migrate the database and manually move several partitioned tables into non-partitioned Standard Edition. Will EBS R12 break? Will Oracle Support cancel its support?Oracle will not support this -- Please log a SR to confirm this with Oracle Support.

  • DataBase Design For Inventory Systems

Sir I am doing my Final Year B.sc(Comp.sci), I am having my Oracle Project to do things.
I just wan't a Detailed DataBase Design for
    Inventory Systems
Please Could you help me in terms of DataBase Design......

The best way to approach a database design is to write a
specification for the application. Document what processes the help
desk technicians will do. In the process, identify what pieces of
information they work with. When you have the complete
specification written, you can then begin grouping the pieces of
information they work with together. For example, a ticket may have
a number, status, priority and a person to whom it is assigned. The
person to whom the ticket is assigned will have a name, phone
number, e-mail address and a list of technical skills.
So in this overly-simplified example, we could have a table
that contains ticket information, a table that has information
about technicians and a table of skills. Then ask your self
questions like "Can one ticket be handled by more than one
technician?" "Can one technician handle more than one ticket?" Can
a technician have more than one skill?" In this way, you can begin
    seeing the one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many relationships
    that exist.

  • Oracle Database Required for Install???

I am doing just some general testing of the 9iAS and Portal server products. I would like to try and build a few test portlets with Java and URL based.
Is a database install of Oracle 9i required to properly work with Portal?
Can I install Oracle 9i on the same machine as 9iAS and Portal?

The installation of 9iAS (portal and wireless option) requires that you first perform a 9iAS Infrastructure install. This will create an instance which will hold the portal repository, etc. See the installation guide for more details.

  • License Database required for Application on Cloud

    Dears,
We have planning to deploy our ERP Application on Cloud (With Cloud Provider), and we use Oracle for database.
So we want to ask about Licenses Required of database if we want to move our Application to Cloud. Becouse that's issue for our cloud provider.
We need this information as soon as possible.
    Thanks & regards,
    Iwan K

You can find info on our licensing here:
    http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/1523
    http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/449
    See sections 3.6 and 4.9
From my reading of it, the free licenses that are obtained by registering are only valid for development purposes only - not deployment as you are doing.  So I believe that a professional license will need to be obtained for each server that the product will be deployed to.
Note: I am not a sales rep / lawyer - so I would recommend talking to someone on our sales team who can give you a better idea of the requirements - what I have stated above is my opinion.

  • Database Requirements for EM 12C

    Hello
I have a few doubts regarding the EM 12c installation.
    1) What is the Oracle recommended database version to perform an installation for OEM 12c Release 2 Plug-in Update 1 (12.1.0.2)??
    2) Can an existing database instance be used for the the installation or else a new database needs to be installed exclusively for the installation of OEM12c.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1. All these DB versions are supported:
    5 Releases(11.2.0.3.0,11.2.0.2.0,11.2.0.1.0,11.1.0.7.0,10.2.0.5.0)
    2. Yes! Existing DB can be used, but if the DB had a DB Control configured, it needs to be dropped.
NOTE: Make sure no other application is using this. Dedicated db is recommended.

  • Database requirements for LiveCycle ES

    Hi,
For LiveCycle ES we need a database. Is it posible to use an exiting oracle 10G database and create a different schema for the LiveCycle ES data? Or do we have to create a separate database for the LiveCycle data?
In the manual "Preparing to upgrade to LiveCycle ES" on page 104 "creating an Oracle database", there is written the database character set must be unicode AL32UTF8. Is this absolutely necessary for LiveCycle ES? We don't use this character set in our environment and moving to an unicode character set will give us a lot of additional work.
Any suggestions on this will be appreciated..
    Kind regards,
    els

Different schema is enough as long as the tablespace has at least 300 MB of storage to spare, preferably 500 MB. The character set has to be AL32UTF8.

  • Requirement for getting the Inventory at a daily level (Non-cumulatvev KF)

    Hello All,
Kindly provide ur suggesstions on the issue mentioned below:
We require the Inventory data at a daily level. Also we require that the non-cumulatve Key Figures such as 0TOTALSTOCK, etc. be available to us in the BW itself, since this is required for further processing.
PS: Right now we are using RSCRM_BAPI to execute the qurey and store the data into a table, but it fails for non-cumulative keyfigures. Kindly suggest if ther are other ways which can suffice the requirement mentioned above.
    Thank you.

  • Requiring several database queries for my GUI - where to put the reads?

Requiring several database queries for my GUI
    Hi all,
I am to create a GUI with a couple of drop downs
These are populated from database queries, as well as the main program reading from the database based on all inputs in the GUI.
Should I put all database reads into a class as seperate methods.
    e.g,
one method for the database read to populate the first combo box.
a second method to take the choice from combobox 1 and read from the database to populate combobox 2
a third method to then perform the main database read based on GUI selections from the above two methods..
is this the 'right' way to do it.
my GUI would then be in a sperate class.
or should I sperate the 3 database reads into 3 different classes?
    thanks in advance,
    Matt

  • What   the   Enviroment  required  for java databases programs?

    Hi guys
What the enviroment required for java databases programs?
If I have oracle of version 9i and java 1.4.1 platform
do I need Jdeveloper platform ?

What the enviroment required for java databases programs? What do you mean by "environment"?
f I have oracle of version 9i and java 1.4.1 platformYou just need to download Oracle's 9i JDBC driver (ojdbc14.jar) and put that in your CLASSPATH. Then write JDBC code to connect to Oracle and issue SQL commands.
do I need Jdeveloper platform ?No, JDeveloper is an IDE. Not required.
Why Java 1.4.1? We're up to Java 6 now. You're two major versions of the JDK behind.

  • Database design (ERD )for Inventory Management System

    Dear All,
I am going to develop a simple Inventory Management System software using C# .NET for my learning. After searching different forums, many people have suggested to first create a database design for the software. I want a database design, in short, an ERD
diagram for simple Inventory Management System which shows proper entities(tables), attributes and relationship between entities.
It would be highly helpful for me as I am newbie to C# and databases.
    Thanks,
    momersaleem

    Dear Rebecca,
    Thanks for you suggestions.
As I am going to develop IMS for learning purposes so I think I wouldn't need to go in detail regarding Customer name and addresses. However, I am still thinking of adding country attribute in customers' table which I think will be helpful to sort out customers.
What's the difference between a purchase and an order?  They're usually the same thing, which doesn't mean you're
wrong, but what are you picturing here? Purchase entity will be used to keep record of purchases you made and an order entity will be used to keep record of orders that cutomers placed.
    Pricing:
Any order system needs to manage two very distinct bits of data that are easy to confuse. The price in the Product entity is the current
price. The price in the Order entity is the selling
price. Not at all the same thing--current price is almost certainly going to change over time. Selling price won't.
Does it mean that I'll change the price attribute for product to current_price and add selling_price to order table which will help to keep record of price at the time of order?
Why did you include a quantity field in the Products table? Is it meant to represent stock on hand?
Yes you are right. It represents stock in hand.
Could you please recheck the entities relationships as I am not confirmed whether these are correct or not?
    Thanks,
    momersaleem

  • Requirements for database applications

    Hey all,
I have a couple of questions:
Is it possible to create applications with databases in a standalone way?
If I made an application that uses JDBC what would any users of the application require to use it? (if they could install it on their own computers) would they need database software installed?
Is there any alternative methods you would recommend using rather than a database? for example if I were to store family tree data, a database seems logical, but would you use an alternative storage method?
    Thank you!

If I made an application that uses JDBC what would any users of the application require to use it? (if they could install it on their own computers) would they need database software installed?Usually you'll need a JDBC driver, which is a single jar file. No other DB software is usually needed on a DB client.
(Fine print: there are types of drivers that need e.g. .dll files installed, or other cruft like that. But mainstream DBs usually do it the easy way: one .jar file. The driver jar connects to the DB server over the network, sends SQL commands to it, and receives results.)
You'll need a DB server program. It can run on the same computer as the client, or a different one. The DB vendor will have an install procedure for the server. There are small ("embedded") DB servers, and big ("Oracle" :-) ones. The smallest DBs can even be a single jar file that contains the JDBC API and the code that stores the data in files - no other components needed.
Is there any alternative methods you would recommend using rather than a database? for example if I were to store family tree data, a database seems logical, but would you use an alternative storage method? There are a number of different ways to store data. Files come to mind. For the example of a family tree, a relational database seems a pretty good fit. The devil is in the details.

  • How do you find if a LOGICAL DATABASE exists for your program requirements?

how do you find if a LOGICAL DATABASE exists for your program requirements?
    please explain.

    Hi Ramana
One may not accurately pin point the LDB for ones requirement. But there some ways.
    1. You can find with respect to the application you are working on. You can refer to the Table field TRDIR-APPL. The following are the values it has. So suppose if you have requirement for HR you can search for application 'P' :
    A Assets accounting
    D DASS control station
    E RIVA
    F Financial accounting
    G General Ledger
    H Human resources planning
    I Maintenance
    J RK projects
    K Cost accounting
    L Warehouse management
    M Materials management
    N Hospital
    P Human resources
    Q QSS
    S System
    V Sales
    Y Customer head office
    Z Customer branch
    2. You can see the package in which your current is stored in SE80. Under the same package you can see if there are any LDBs.
