Database restore of Content and Cache Server on different SID

Hi Experts,
I am trying to do backup \ restore method, is it the correct way to do.
if not, please suggest me the correct methodology.
if yes, please let me know the procedure to restore the database on different SID
Content Server and cache server was installed on MaxDB 7.6 and build 18

Are you guys getting any prizes for using the oldest software you can digg up in the service marketplace?
If there is anything I can recommend at this early stage of your question:
Upgrade the database to a recent release, read the documentation/sap notes/WIKI/training content for MaxDB.

Anybody ever get any events like this before? I'm not finding much or nothing on Google or on other forums, so I thought I would run it past and see if anyone has experienced anything of a similar
nature. And yes, the farm account obviously has creator/secadmin permissions, at this point of our deployment....

I figured out the answer to this myself. For those few who might run into something akin to my error...
During the off-hours of where I work, I re-applied the farm account credentials to all dB server VM SQL services that had the account for a log-on (i.e., MSSQLSERVER, SQLSERVERAGENT, etc.) as well as all SharePoint services on our WFE/App Server VM (a two
server farm is what we host), in that order. Then I rebooted the dB server first, followed by the SharePoint server. Upon coming back, everything was working fine again. I was able to provision a site, no probelm, and it seemed to even be a little snappier
when doing so.
One note: doing this procedure gave me a "One or more services have started or stopped unexpectedly" error in the Health Analyzer, for the SPTimerV4 service. When you get this, simply enter into the item and click on "Reanalyze Now;" this will quickly clear
the error out of the Analyzer, and all should be right with the world! :)

Dual NICs and Caching Server

Hi All -
We currently have a Mac Mini and utilize its caching server functionality on our "normal" subnet. We also have a "guest" subnet which is abstracted from our normal subnet (used for guest wireless devices/BYOT). Would it be possible to use the Thunderbolt to Gigabit ethernet adapter on our Mac Mini and have the caching server serve updates on both interfaces/subnets so we do not have to buy a separate Mini to serve the guest subnet?

Both networks and the server will have to have the same single WAN IP address. The following diagram shows a possible configuration that would work.

The following should also work

The above however requires the Server to act as a router to forward traffic

With the above the Server has its own public IP address and is also directly connected to one of the internal networks. As the server has its own public IP address this will be different to the shared (NATed) public IP address that everything else is using. As the public IP addresses are different the clients will not be able to use the Caching server.

Prerequisites in Machine (2):

Steps:
1)     Install Oracle 10.2.0.1 (Only SW,No need of database) *(Machine 2)*
2)     Create a DSN where your windows Oracle 10g SW resides *(Machine 2)*
Control panel >> Administrative Tools >> Data Source (ODBC) >> System DSN ADD

Developing database views between Oracle and SQL Server tables

I am on Oracle 10.2, my organization has many SQL Server databases as well and has now made
SQL server as company standard so many new databases will be developed in SQL Server. It is of course
not possible to convert all Oracle databases to SQL Server, so a mix environment will exist. Two questions:
1. Is it possible to develop database views in Oracle (10g in my case) which join Oracle tables with tables in SQL Server 2008? If yes, how. I have seen some heterogeneous connectivity setup to connect SQL Server to Oracle, but not sure whether it is possible to develop a database view across two databases.
2. I know it is not a SQL Server forum, but many DBA’s know both Oracle and SQL Server. Is it possible to develop views in SQL Server (SQL Server 2008 R2 in my case) which join Oracle 10g and SQL Server 2008 tables? I know in SQL Server, there is way to set up linked servers, but do not know whether it is possible to develop views.

You can create views that join local Oracle tables and remote SQL Server tables. I'm pretty sure you can do the reverse as well but I haven't personally done it.
However, I would be very concerned about the performance you'd get if you created that sort of view. You'd very frequently end up in a situation where Oracle has to pull all the data in the remote table across the database link in order to apply predicates and join the data locally. That could be disastrous from a performance standpoint.

No sound at all for incoming calls, txts, games. I have checked the side mute switch. Volume is all way up. All notifications are on. I can hear tones when I go to change them. I can hear my music. I can hear talking on videos I have taken. I have tried everything I know to do(reset,restore,reset network settings,reset content and other settings and mute button is not ON)Please help!

This is exactly the same problem I am having. I dropped the phone one time I think that was the reason. Now I cant seem to find any solution to fix it and it will cost me $149 to buy a new phone? There has to be a way to fix this problem.
When I put it in speaker phone I can hear but not voices through the phone.

BI Schedule and Presenation Server on Different Servers Configuration

I'm having a problem getting my iBots to run and deliver the information to the catalog with the following configuration:
2 Presentation Servers on Windows with IIS for NTLM authentication (via a Load Balancer)
OBIEE Server and Scheduler, and Presenation Server on Solaris (the Presentation Server on Solaris will be turned off)
The catalog between the 2 Windows Servers are are shared. When I create an iBot on the Windows the request is sent to the Scheduler on Solaris and errors out with the following message:
[nQSError: 77006] Oracle BI Presentation Server Error: A fatal error occurred while processing the request. The server responded with: Path not found (
/shared/_ibots/Test Email from UAT)^M
Error Codes: U9KP7Q94^M
My question is why does the scheduler send the alert to the Presentation Server on the Solaris box and not the shared Presentation Server with the shared catalog on the Windows Servers. Am I missing something in the configuration?

I figured it out. I had to re-run the schconfig utility on UNIX and reconfigured the server from localhost:9710 to the actual server name.

Hi,We're currently testing Hyperion Essbase 7.1.2 and we were wondering if it was possible to have the Essbase (Analytic) Server on one machine and Deployment Server on a different one. At first sight, it seemed so, so we did just that.Now, we'd like to test our setup by signing on through the ESS command line prompt (on the Deployment Server machine) but seem to miss something since the connection ("signon") is refused. The funny thing is that on the machine on which the Essbase Server is installed, we've also installed the Administration Services: through the Administration Console, we can indeed connect to the Deployment Server and interact with it.So my first question is: is our setup possible (that is, having the Deployment and Essbase servers on distinct boxes)?If so, what is the meaning of all the parameters needed for the "signon" command of the ESS command line prompt?Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,A. Yes, you can configure it that way and we have many customers with that setup.You have to login to the EDS console the first time using the 'default' admin username/password (system/password) and setup a username, with admin privileges, that also is on your Essbase server. Logout, then login with the 'real' username. Select the domain object ('essbase at the top of the tree'), right mouse click and add an analytic server. Type in the name of your Essbase server and it should be added (and you should be able to browse objects on the Essbase server). MOBI with BOE and mobile server on different servers

Hi Experts,
We need to set up a BO MOBI with BOE and Mobile server on two separate servers.
In such a configuration, how does the two servers communicate?
What should be the VAS and VMS server configurations? especially the external hostnames in the files?
We are looking for a non Blackberry(proxy) deployment.
We have installed the software,however the windows services of Authserver and the Job servers are not available in the mobile server instance

We are in a situation which we planned to host our production and development servers at different geographical locations. Both locations have high speed internet and static IPs.
Kindly advice me how to configure transport management in this scenario.

Are these boxes on the same network ?? check by creating a RFC from your DEV to the PRD and test if its successfull.
If the RFC test is successfull then you can proceed with the TMS configuration. It wil not be any problem.

Multiple Database configurations with Hibernate and caching

Hi,
I am building an webservice app which has 2 different DBs( Oracle and DB2). Please let me know whats the best way of designing the hibernate layer to access both the DBs ; I have some cross reference tables in both of them.
I am planning to create a logical model of the physical DB model ( combining both Oracle and DB2) and use property files or some configuration to map my logical to the actual physical table. What would be the best design for this? Do you recommend caching these conversion values?
Please let me know the best practice / way to work on my above situation.

Everything seems fine but when I try to access the second db I get:
http://vs-dapp041.maximusbchealth.local:7501/apex/edwdev1 => 404 not found
I am going to be at Open World next week and see if I can talk so someone at the apex stand there.

Restore Dock Content and Chrome History

I lost a hard drive and need a bit of help finding things that haven't restored correctly from my backup.
Dock: What file contains the list of icons that appear in the dock.
Google Chrome: Where's the history? When I type in the URL/Search box, suggestions used to come up based on my prior browsing. For example, typing "f" would offer to auto-complete to "facebook.com" How do I get these autocompletes back?
