  • [Solved] Machine shutdown after some time

    Hi all,
I have a machine with an Intel J1900
    It has installed:
    last kernel
    Plasma 5
    Gummiboot
    SDDM
    Intel drivers
all is ok, but when the machine is some hours up, the machine shutdown by itself. This cannot be a hardware failure because It performs a perfect shutdown.
How can I start to check the issue? any idea?
    thanks in advance!

Any power management system installed (eg. upower) with screensaver set up to shutdown (instead of hibernate) after some time?
    journalctl -b -1
look here at previous system log and see last lines if you can find anything wrong

  • Database shutdown taking more time, is listener process a problem??

    Dear all,
though its a general process to stop the listener before shutting down the database for cold backup. but is it so that if you don't stop the listener before giving shutdown immediate command, the shutdown process takes long time than normal expected time?
because as per my understanding, the listener process is used just for the connection and when we give shutdown command the database automatically rejects any new connections. your valuable comments are required.

No version, as usual, and the answer is version specific.
Why is it so difficult to include those 4 digits?
    Dear all,

but is it so that if you don't stop the listener
before giving shutdown immediate command, the
shutdown process takes long time than normal expected
time? No. Must be a fairy tale without proof.
You might need set job_queue_processes to 0 and aq_tm_processes to 0, but that has nothing to do with the listener.

Set sufficient value of processes/sessions in init/spfile of database , might be session limit of DB is getting exceeded & restricting new connection.
Check alert log & below query o/p , CURRENT_UTILIZATION < MAX_UTILIZATION to get connection to DB
select * from v$resource_limit;Also , try to connect as sqlplus prelim & do hang analyze , refer below link

  • Database shutdown problem

    Hi,
My database takes quite a lot of time in shutting down, when I do normal shutdown.

    Hi Aman,

What does it mean by rollback here? So if I would kick in really big transaction and Oracle is shutting down, it will be rolling back my transcton? I don't think so. > My transaction info would be cleared immediately. Is there any way that I can see this happening ?
Aman....Take a look in the Oracle Docs:
Immediate database shutdown proceeds with the following conditions:
    - No new connections are allowed, nor are new transactions allowed to be started, after the statement is issued.
    - Any uncommitted transactions are rolled back. (If long uncommitted transactions exist, this method of shutdown might not complete quickly, despite its name.)
    - Oracle Database does not wait for users currently connected to the database to disconnect. The database implicitly rolls back active transactions and disconnects all connected users.
The next startup of the database will not require any instance recovery procedures.
Transactional database shutdown proceeds with the following conditions:
    - No new connections are allowed, nor are new transactions allowed to be started, after the statement is issued.
    - After all transactions have completed, any client still connected to the instance is disconnected.
    - At this point, the instance shuts down just as it would when a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE statement is submitted.
The next startup of the database will not require any instance recovery procedures.
A transactional shutdown prevents clients from losing work, and at the same time, does not require all users to log off.

  • Shutdown immediate taking time

    HI
I m using oracle 10g release 2. on hpux itanium
some of my database is taking longer time to shutdown more than 30 minutes. so usually i m doing
startup force and than shutdown immediate... wat is the problem behind this and how can i resolve it plz suggest.

A SHUTDOWN NORMAL will wait for sessions to disconnect. So, if you have application processes or users that do not disconnect, it will "hang". It is likely that this is causing your shutdown to delay. You could check the alert log file for messages about Oracle waiting for users to disconnect.
A SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE will kill active sessions, complete a rollback of transactions that are killed and then shutdown the database. If you are using a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE, this can take a long time if there are large active transactions (or many active transactions) that Oracle needs to rollback -- the rollback can take time. (Also, if there are very many connected sessions, Oracle will take time to disconnect all of them).
A SHUTDOWN ABORT does a quick kill by shutting down the instance, without validating connected sessions. Rollback is automatically initiated by Oracle with the Instance Recovery at the STARTUP. The STARTUP can take slightly longer (in terms of seconds or a few minutes, generally) depending on the volume of Redo to be re-applied. Rollback is deferred to be executed after the OPEN.
You could try a SHUTDOWN TRANSACTIONAL. However, this can still take a long time or "hang" if a user or application process (or multiple of them) has/have active transaction(s) and does/do not issue COMMITs.
See the documentation on the SHUTDOWN command :

    Hello
I have a VeriStand-Project (VSP) created with my Laptop-Host (LTH) which works with my PXI, while
deploying it from my LTH. Then I have installed the whole NI enviroment for PXI and VeriStand use on a

The software versions of the NI products (MAX/My System/Software) between my LTH and the iPC are
almost the same. The only differences are:
    1. LabView Run-Time 2009 SP1 (64-bit); is installed on LTH but missing on iPC. The iPC has a 32-bit system.
    2. LabView Run-Time 2012 f3; is installed on LTH but missing on iPC.
    3. NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.3.5; something strage on the LTH, because normally I am using NI-DAQmx 9.5.5 and all other DAQmx products on my LTH are 9.5.5. That means NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5.. On the iPC side all three products are 9.5.5.. That means NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.5.5, NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5..
    4. Traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4; The iPC has this SW installed. On the LTH this SW is missing.
In order to fix this problem I have formatted my PXI and I have installed the following SW from the iPC:
    1. LabVIEW Real-Time 11.0.1
    2. NI-488.2 RT 3.0.0
    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
Unfortunately the above stated problem still arose.
What can I do to fix this problem?
    I found a hint on http://www.labviewforum.de/Thread-XNET-CAN-die-ersten-Gehversuche.
There it is written to deploy the dbc file againt.
If this is a good hint, so how do I deploy a dbc file?
I would feel very pleased if somebody could help me! :-)
    Best regards
    Lukas Nowak

    Hi Lukas,
I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.
    You wrote:

    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
NI CAN is the outdated driver. I think that you should try to install NI-XNET instead of NI-CAN on your PXI-System, to get rid of the error message.

Any suggestion will be appreciated on above problem!

    Hi,
Below is the information from orclALRT.log:
There's a write/open error. At July 21, 21:00PM our backup is start to run.
Is it because the backup software locked some oracle's files ?
But after the error, the next morning July 22 the ORACLE instance is started with no error, even though user can't connect to the database.
    TIA
    Andi

  • I want to load large raw XML file in firefox and parse by DOM. But, for large XML file the firefox very slow some time crashed . Is there any option to increase DOM handling memory in Firefox

Actually i am using an off-line form to load very large XML file and using firefox to load that form. But, its taking more time to load and some time the browser crashed. through DOM parsing this XML file to my form. Is there any option to increase DOM handler size in firefox

Thank you for your suggestion. I have a question,
though. If I use a relational database and try to
access it for EACH and EVERY click the user makes,
wouldn't that take much time to populate the page with
    data?
Isn't XML store more efficient here? Please reply me.You have the choice of reading a small number of records (10 children per element?) from a database, or parsing multiple megabytes. Reading 10 records from a database should take maybe 100 milliseconds (1/10 of a second). I have written a web application that reads several hundred records and returns them with acceptable response time, and I am no expert. To parse an XML file of many megabytes... you have already tried this, so you know how long it takes, right? If you haven't tried it then you should. It's possible to waste a lot of time considering alternatives -- the term is "analysis paralysis". Speculating on how fast something might be doesn't get you very far.

  • Real-time database or non real-time database

I know the scheduling mechanism in Oracle database is somewhat like the Linux OS which is not real-time. Does Oracle provide real-time database which has some real-time scheduling guaranteeing each user transaction to meet with a deadline ? Thx a lot.

The Berkley DB that Oracle owns has been ported to QNX which is a real-time operating system.

Why, out of curiosity, are you looking into Oracle for a real-time system? That implies that you're running a real-time operating system on your servers, which is certainly unusual. I've heard of some ports of 9i to real-time operating systems, but that would certainly be unusual.

  • Tasks not firing some times?

    Hi Experts,
On the AD process form I have a task Get NEw Parent DN task which will compute the container field value and copies to process form container field value; there is another task container Updated. whenever process form container field value changes this task fires but it is firiing some time not firing some time what might be the reason.
Thanks in adavnace for yor help.

Ideally this should not happen, that your process task does fires randomly. Confirm that is your process from container value getting updated each time after your Get NEw Parent DN task runs successfully. The container Updated task will only fire if there is a change in the database for that value as it is based on a DB trigger. Otherwise it wont.
    Thanks
