Database "sid" warm started
Dear all,
My OS is AIX. I have a dbstart script( A simple one). Oracle 9.2.0.8
when I run the script the database is started but itgives a message
database " sid " warm started
Is anything wrong or is it just a message.
Waiting for your answer
Thanks
SL
Did you read your script and try to understand the conditions and events that lead up to that message being printed? You may find a bug in the script or just a message syntax uniqueness.

What is it 'warm start' ??
Could anyone explain me what is it "warm start" in Oracle 10g? I have a standalone database and few days ago got such a message that it was required.
In metalink I only found this phase related with master and standby databases.
warm :) regards
KP/>You probably get this message from dbstart script, it means the database started normally.
if test $? -eq 0 ; then
echo ""
echo "Database \"${ORACLE_SID}\" warm started."
else
echo ""
echo "Database \"${ORACLE_SID}\" NOT started."

Hi Supports,
I am using sapinst homogeneous system copy in Linux on sybase.
I stuck on the the step 27/49 "create Database".
I checked Firewall is off.
i got points in my sapinst_dev.log that "
1)The log segment in the target database 'SID' is too small (9216 MB) to accommodate the log segment from the dumped database (10240 MB)"
and
2)"Can't change the owner of the master, model, tempdb or sybsystemprocs database"
Do i need to increase "sybase/SID/saplog_1" ? because my "saplog_1" is 49 mb now.
if it is ! how do i increase in this stage.
can any one know about this error???
Thanks,
Aziz.Hi,
When i seen SID.log file so its showing deadlock and checkpoint occurring,
Is any solution ???
Is this because of networks?
we had 2 servers on this same IP. but i stopped one server and one is still running.
please find my SID.log file and revert back if any soltion.

Database SID contains user objects belonging to system user dbo
Hi,
I started a Java AddIn installation for NetWeaver 2004.
ABAP stack is on SP12.
Win2003 Server SP2
MS SQL 2005
SAPInst is stopping with error <b>Database <SID> contains user objects belonging to system user dbo</b>.
I can't find anything in the log files or in SMP that is guiding me into the right direction...
Any hints??
Thx,
MichaelHi Michael,
You can use the stored procedure sp_check_sap_login to check and verify your db-logins as per note # 610640 .
Afterwards you can use the script "user_change.sql" which is included in the attachment of note # 551915 to change the objects from 'dbo' to 'sid'.
This may help narrow down the cause at least hopefully.
Regards, Mark -
Need Database to be started automatically after restarting the system
I m using oracle 8.1.6 on windows 2000. My company wants me to automate the database i.e whenever the system is restarted then the database should also start automatically.
Do any one have any solution for this?....Action :
Begin by logging on as Administrator. This will give you access to all the Services available in Windows 2000. To load the Services Utility, click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, then Services (You may also be able to access it via Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Services if you enabled Administrative Tools to be displayed on the Start Menu).
Then double click on OracleService<sid> and change the startup type to Auto.

Catbundle_WINBUNDLE_ database SID _ROLLBACK.sql hangs
Hello experts,
We are rolling back a opatch i.e. bundle patch 44.
after rollback when we run the script catbundle_WINBUNDLE_<database SID>_ROLLBACK.sql
the script hangs after executing for some time, without any error.
Database version: 11.1.0.7.0.
O. S. : Windows server 2003
Please help me urgently.
Regards
Rahul SrivastavaHello experts,
I have resolved the issue by
Starting the database in restricted session
Disable auto stats collection job
exec DBMS_AUTO_TASK_ADMIN.DISABLE(
client_name => 'auto optimizer stats collection',
operation => NULL,
window_name => NULL);
and then executing the script
catbundle_WINBUNDLE_<database SID>_ROLLBACK.sql
the script executed succesfully.
Then we can
exec DBMS_AUTO_TASK_ADMIN.ENABLE(
client_name => 'auto optimizer stats collection',
operation => NULL,
window_name => NULL);
and run utlrp.sql .

Sort results on app or database side?
I'd like to think that this is a bit trickier than it might first appear. We have some queries that use ORDER BY, and our database guy is telling us to take them out and do them on the web app side to cut down on Oracle 10g's use of the TEMP table. Here's an example of a frequently run query that populates a quick access select box of their address book entries:
SELECT ReceiverID FROM ADDRESSBOOK WHERE AccountNbr = ? ORDER BY UPPER(ReceiverID)We realized that ORDER BY is probably redundant there since the pair key consists of the AccountNbr and ReceiverID, so since it'll use the index they'll come across already sorted. However, when you go searching, you have queries like this, and even more complicated ones as well:
SELECT ReceiverID, CompanyName FROM ADDRESSBOOK WHERE AccountNbr = ? AND UPPER(CompanyName) LIKE UPPER(?) ORDER BY UPPER(CompanyName)In that case, we need to sort, either in the database or on the application side. Typically, the results per account number are around 200 or less, but sometimes it's in the thousands. I've always thought you're supposed to make the database do stuff like this, but if the database is having to go out to disk to use the TEMP table, then maybe in this case it could be better to sort the ResultSet in Java...I was happy to find out that String already has a Comparator for that, so you can write:
Collections.sort(myList, String.CASE_INSENSITIVE_ORDER)However, on the main address book page, they see about five fields of each entry, and they can sort by any of the five fields. So, say the field they want to sort by is CompanyName. Then I'll have to put all the CompanyNames into a List and also into a HashMap where they're a key to the rest of the fields, and then sort the List and pull the CompanyNames out one by one to get the rest of the fields whose info needs to go on the same line on the webpage. In other words, this seems to be the reason for using ORDER BY on the database side in the first place, so please correct me if I'm wrong...You're not wrong. Databases are designed and optimized to do exactly what you're doing; a dba that tells you otherwise would be suspect in my opinion.

Multiple OID schema's in a single database SID?
I have OID/OVD 11g installed in a development environment and during the install I used the create schema option to automatically create the required database schema. I now need to install a second seperate instance of OID/OVD, but the database schema will reside in the same database SID.
Is this possible as presumably the script will be trying to create users/tablespaces that already exist for the first instance?
I see you can install OID using an existing schema, but I'm assuming this needs to be empty and that there's on way two ldaps can share the same schema.
I guess I'm hoping the script is clever enough to modify it's user/tablespace naming details if they already exist, but this doesn't seem likely.
Any advice gratefully received. The existing schema doesnt have to be empty. If you select High Availability, the installer will automatically recognize that you want another instance of OID with the same database.

My Macbook Pro has a black screen when running in Bootcamp Windows 7. Since I updated the mac side my windows side now starts up with completely black screen - no prompt, nothing, Cap keys still light up as does mouse and DVD drive seems to run.
Will not show up in safe mode, will not show when started from Windows 7 DVD.
I suspect the Mac update wiped out my PC video drivers but can not think of a way to re-install?
Can see the PC volume from Mac side with files.
I've looked at all the online solutions so far and have tried most of them without success. Please help!

For anyone else who finds their way here like I did, this link did it for me: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/527599/windows-8-issues-solved-please-r ead-if-you-39-re-having-black-screen-and-or-flickering-/
Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick. I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally. I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again. I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time. Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black. I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]
Hope this helps someone else! -
My database does not start automatically
i am using windows 2000 server and oracle 9.0.1, my database does not start automatically when i am booting the system.
in regedit autostart is there, my service is getting started automatically and i used startmode auto in my oradim command but still i have to manually log in to start the database, PLS help!!!
another issue is that i want to startup/shutdown the database using a user other than sysdba, pls tell which permission shud i grant as dba, connect, resource permissions are not doing the required jobspfile concept is introduced from Oracle 9i. You can call it system parameter file. Benefits of having spfile concept is that what ever changes u make to system through commands
alter system set ??? = ????
get automatically saved in the spfile???.ora which is managed by Oracle.
Main idea behind that as thought by Oracle is that previously u needed to change that parameter in init.ora file then start the database again after shutdown. Now u are doing everything online. spfile???.ora takes priority in the new Oracle concept.
If u delete spfile???.ora file, then it needs some specific init.ora which need to told to Oracle which can be through command like
startup pfile='complete patah .............'

I performed DBVerify on the tables and don't seem to get any errors, I also restored a cold backup from a week ago and it still won't start.
Please help if you can. Thanks.
JohnI rolled back the latest windows update (KB835732) and rebooted. Tried to start the database services and they started. Not sure what's in that patch but I think I will stay away from it.
I can't believe there was something in the OS patch that killed it, but that's all I did to fix it.
So for now, I'm not touching it...

Database restore from different Database Sid
I have installed sap ecc6 sr3 on db2 version 9.1 fp5 which is running on WIn2003 Enterprise x64 edition which is working fine. It is my Quality server Database Sid Q11.
Now i want to restore database from Development server D11 (offline backup) to quality server Q11.
Development server database Sid is D11.
How to restore from Different Sid. (In DB2 database).
Please tell me how to restore database from another Sid.Hi,
what you have to do is a so called "redirected restore".
The recommended way to that in an SAP-DB2 environment, is to use the tool brdb6brt shipped together with the SAP kernel. For details how to use this tool refer to the DB2-UDS Database Administration Guide.
