Database starts with other user

Hi everyone!
I have a rman catalog I want to start with orarman OS user.
The binaries belong to oracle user, since it's installed in a two-nodes cluster. Active node has the production instance (startup with oracle), and the pasive node the rman catalog.
There is only one oracle software in each node (which belongs to oracle)
When I try to start rman catalog with orarman in the second node, it only starts up with oracle user and not with orarman.

Does someone how to do?? Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome to the forums.
Provided the orarman user is in the Unix dba group, you should be able to startup the database.
In your post you don't show the result of a startup command, not even a startup nomount.
So far no one can see what you did to reach the result the instance is stopped.
Can you
sqlplus / as sysdba
startup nomount
if this doesn't work stop here and post the error message.
alter database mount;
again if this doesn't work stop here and post the error message.
alter database open;

I'm trying to clear a (BSO, v 11.1.2.1) database, and it's failing with the following message:
Error: 1013020 Cannot clear data for database [Daily] while other users are connected.
There are no other users connected first of all. Second of all, I've never had a database fail to clear just because other users were connected. Has anyone seen this before?

  • How do i share my itunes library with other users on the same mac

I'm trying to share my itunes library with other users on the same mac.  I have tried moving my library to a public folder but when the other user logs in they can't see it in the public folder?

Presuming you moved the entire iTunes folder to the shared folder the other users need to start their iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and select the iTunes Library.itl file in the shared folder.  Only once should be necessary.  Note that any changes anybody makes will be seen by everybody, so you have to trust each other a lot.
If all you moved are media files each user will have to add those files to their iTunes library.

  • Share itunes with other users, windows 8

I have just bought a new PC running windows 8. For each member of my family I have set up individual user accounts. I have then installed iTunes and attempted to follow the instructions located at iTunes: How to share music between different user accounts on a single computer - Apple Support to ensure that we can all access my centrally stored iTunes media/libraries. I have followed the instructions to the letter but it does NOT WORK on Windows 8. It may have worked on other versions, but not windows 8. Please, do not respond with the above link - it's already driven me crazy that this is the only result google turns up.
In iTunes, I have used 'edit preferences' to select the public music - 'iTunes media' folder on all accounts, and keep checking the actual public folder (C - Users - Public - Public Music - ITunes - ITunes Media) to make sure all the data is there. Indeed it is there. But for each other user, iTunes won't display any of the songs in my library, or any of the playlists.
I have even tried holding shift, opening iTunes and then selecting the central library. This just results in the music all being displayed, but iTunes displaying the message that it can't find any of the songs.(I have over 30,000...).
I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes several times, and have deleted and reinstalled the iTunes data - music. libraries etc (currently backed up on an external HDD) several times. I can get iTunes to work on my account only (administrator) - but whenever I try to set up other users to access the public content, iTunes won't cooperate.
As far as I can tell, with Windows 8, there is NO WAY TO SHARE YOUR ITUNES LIBRARIES WITH OTHER USER ACCOUNTS. I have read all the previous threads on this topic, have googled everything, and have looked on youtube
Apple - this not good enough.

    Was it these directions?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
Did you read the line at the bottom?
+When another user of the computer has imported new music from CD, repeat steps 6 through 8 to add the music to your library+ .
You need to drag the public folder over into those user's itunes window.
Alternatively, itunes menu > file > add folder to library
When you download or rip new CDs, each user has to add it manually to their library list.
Or use something like itunes folder watch.
When you changed the other users itunes preferences, that will affect FUTURE additions. Now you are in the future and they need to add those songs to their itunes database list.
With itunes 9 you might have success putting new music in this *Automatically Add to itunes* folder
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3832
    But I haven't tried it.

  • File system management when sharing photos/music with other users in Mac OS

I'm a new convert from the Windows world. I'm trying to setup multiple accounts for each user within my household. However, I'd like us to all share the same set of folders for photos within iPhoto and music in iTunes. Is it best to just used the "shared" folder instead of keeping them in the standard home directory and trying to share those folders with other users? What is the best approach to this. I would imagine most people do this for managing their music if not photos as well. Just trying to learn best practice on the file system management before I copy over gigs of files from my old PC.
    Thanks much,

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. This might help with iPhoto.
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
    Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Finally: If you’re comfortable in the Terminal, and understand File Permissions, ACL’s etc., some folks have reported success using the process outlined here . (Note this page refers to 10.4, but it should also work on 10.5). If you’re not comfortable with the terminal, and don’t know an ACL from the ACLU, then you’re best doing something else... Oh, and the warning about simultaneous users still applies.
    Regards
    TD

  • Does home sharing allow me to share my iTunes library with other users on the same imac

Does home sharing allow me to share my iTunes library with other users on the same imac?

Apparently so (as long as each user operates out of a different Mac User account).
After setting up home sharing in the various different user accounts on the Mac, you need to have iTunes open in the account that you want to Home Share from.
Now use fast User Switching to get into the account that you want to Home Share to. Launch iTunes in there. The library in the other account should appear as shared for you.

How to share administrator iPhoto library with other users on same iMac?

This is the part I'm referring to:
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
The library stays in the Pictures folder for this.

  • Can I share some, not all music, with other users on same iMac?

    Hi,
I want to be able to share some musice with other users on the same iMac?
Is it possible to do without having to share everything?
    Thanks, Crankyhead.

Create a playlist containing the music you want to share. Then select Preferences in iTunes and from there select the Sharing tab. Turn on "Share my library on my local network" then click on "Share selected playlists" and click on the playlist(s) you want to share.

  • How do I stop sharing mail with other users on my computer

How do I stop sharing mail with other users on my Macbook pro?

You may have to set up different user accounts in the computer if you wish to
continue sharing the computer among other people, and only use the Mail app.
Otherwise, if you use a webmail such as yahoo, gmail, or other, just use a browser
and login each time; then there is no saving of your email to the computer as such.
I've never used an email client software, nor had an ISP based email account. So
my numerous computers have never downloaded email into software. No loss.
But the answers do include setting up extra user accounts, not admin level, so the
other users do not mess with the operating system; a standard account or just a
guest account to use a browser to access web-based login email accounts, works.
There are third-party email client for OS X, some are free applications, others are
part of a larger browser product, such as SeaMonkey, & other Mozilla derivatives.
They provide an email segment or client aspect; unlike Firefox that's a browser.
Setup information should be within the Help viewer in the computer itself. Or by a
simple search online, including the OS X version and any email client software
your computer may have installed. Some browser software includes email client.
Also there are several ways to go in this matter. I don't see questions, only answers.
To learn how the Mail application works, if you want to import everyone's mail, then
figure how to set up user accounts in the OS X. Or use web-mail & login by browser.
Hopefully you can find the best solution for the unasked question.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do I sink calendars with other users on the same computer

How do I sink calender info with other users on the same computer?

    Hi there,
First..I am new to this forum and find the information provided to be very helpful... I had followed the iTunes link above to enable sharing between users in the same computer but it appears to be working on partially. What setup am I looking for ?
    1. We have an iMac (Snow Leopard) with 1 Adult ID and 2 children IDs
    2. The iTunes music folder is stored in a Shared public folder where the Adult ID has read/write access and the 2 kids with read-only access (so that they don't accidently delete songs...:-)
    3. The iTunes on the Adult ID has the access to purchase songs. The kids have no acccess to buy songs
    4. All songs, podcasts to be visible to all users
    What has happened ?
    1. I am able to make the base of songs visible to all users
    2. However when a song is purchased by the adult account ..it is not visible to the kids account ..:-{
    3. The same thing occurs when a song is imported from a CD
    4. When a new playlist is created by the Adult account it is not visible to the kids account ..:-(
How can I make changes made by the Adult be made visible to the kids without having the need to constant add music files or libraries for each kid..?
    Thanks in advance..

I have windows 8.1 and cannot access itunes store even creating a new apple id. With other users on the same computer I can access itunes store. How can I solve this?

i had the same problem before using a fresh install of Windows 8.1.  I have resolved this issue by running the program compatibility wizard.  This I did by right-clicking on the iTunes icon in the desktop, selecting Troubleshoot compatibility, waited for it to detect compatibility issues and when presented with the following options: 1.) Try recommended settings; 2.) Troubleshoot program, I chose the latter.  When asked what problems I noticed, I checked the following: "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run" and "The program requires additional permission"
After that, it tired to resolve the issue, and provided the necessary settings to run iTunes.  Now it's running flawlessly.  I have Avast anti-virus installed though.

Hi... and thanx for your help...
I did not think that I would have to mess with my firewall, as long as I am talking of useres on the same computer, but I guess I was wrong.
Your advice helps very much, but only as long as I am still logged in with my user name. I does not work when only my kids are logged in. There has to be a way to use these libraries without the need to log in the user that has created those folders...
    Hmmm
    Thanx for your help
