Database to app designer
Hi all,
To create a record from app designer to Database, we create a record in app designer and then we build that record then it will appear in the database.
Is there a way to do the following.
I have a SQL query to create a record in database. I can create a record in database using that SQL query. Is there a way that we can get that record into app designer.
(the query has 150 fields in it and all are delivered, so it is hard to gather all the fields in app designer. so i am looking for an easy way to get it in app designer)

Those objects are not visible from AppDesigner.
Unless you are updating the backend metamodel Peoplesoft tables, there is no way in AppDesigner to create new Peoplesoft objects (Fields, SQL view, tables, indexes...) from the database.
You could run an AlterAudit (or DDDAUDIT) to check all the differences between Peoplesoft objects and database objects. But, unless you know all the Peoplesoft tables to be updated, you have to create them manually through AppDesigner.
At least, this is the proper to work on Peoplesoft, create a project, put there all the new objects, and build it. For further migration, copy this project over the database and rebuild it onto the target.

I am installing peopletool 8.50 (HRMS). I ran all the sql scripts successfully. Ran the DMS script as well for demo database.
When I am trying to login in App designer using PS/PS i'm getting the following error..

while I am able to login in data mover in boot strap. Can anybody pls help me out?yes I am using Oracle 11g.

Hi,
I have PeopleTools 8.50 installed on Windows 7 Professional x64. When I select View in Browser menu item from the Layout menu in Application Designer to see what the my page looks like, Application Designer just shutdowns without error. Also, if I select Generate to HTML menu item, Application Designer shutdowns without error.
Has anyone experience this behaviour with App Designer under Windows 7 Professional x64?

I installed Oracle 11g R2 32-bit on Windows 7 Pro x64. I am using a 2-tier connection. My database server is Oracle 11gR2 64-bit running on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 64-bit inside a VirtualBox virtual machine. The database server, Tuxedo, and Weblogic are setup inside this virtual machine for learning purpose. I have Peoplesoft HCM 9.1 demo database setup and running on the virtual machine. I can login to PIA using Peoplesoft super user PS. I can connect to to the demo database in bootstrap mode using SYSADM. I can create or editing existing pages in App Designer with no problem. I have already created a page that access a single table and I can access it via PIA. If I want to check the layout via "view in browser", App Designer shutdowns without any sort of error messages. I use the base release of PeopleTools 8.50.

Could someone please give some guidance on how they typically run Compare Reports either in App Designer or through Change Assistant?
We were recently upgraded from 8.9 to 9.2 and I've newly assumed the role of administering our PeopleSoft system. While I do have several classes lined up for training I am still fresh to a lot of this.
When I pull down a Tax Update, or selective bug list from our PUM Image and run it through Change Assisant obviously there is a step where CA compares this project to the target database. However, when I go to App Designer to review those reports, none of them list any objects or differences. We've been manually reviewing SQRs in TaxUpdates for any necessary customizations - surely that isn't the proper method...
Is it possible that CA/AppDesigner is not properly comparing the definitions 1:1 and not finding any differences?
Is it a configuration I'm missing somewhere?
I'm looking for some ideas on how everyone else runs/reviews their compare reports for Tax Updates,etc.

Terry NixonThe last poster is correct about memory possibly causing this. I've also seen it happen when an object in App Designer is corrupt such as a record. In that scenario, I removed record objects types from the compare, and ran them separately to identify the bad one, in order to prevent one bad apple from holding up the entire compare process.

Error message when I try to publish aa application with BI Mobile App Designer

We had last month a product demonstration of BI Mobile App Designer by Oracle's commercial.
Following this demonstration, I installed and deployed this module on one of our OBIEE server 11.1.7.141014
I thus tested the BI Mobile App Designer product by creating two smartphone applications that worked perfectly.
The problemis that since a few days, I can not access one of my applications from my smartphone.
From OBI, I then load my application and tried to publish it again, but I get the error message :
oracle.xdo.webservice.exception.OperationFailedException: PublicReportService::generateReportParametersDefinition
Failure: Due to oracle.xdo.servlet.data.DataException: oracle.xdo.XDOException:
oracle.xdo.das.DASException: BISvsException on getting a JBIPS member query data.
Then I tried to duplicate my "Mobile App" and rename it and when I tried to publish it I get the error :
French message :
La bibliothèque d'applications n'est pas configurée correctement.
Assurez-vous que le fichier de configuration est défini pour la bibliothèque d'applications.
English message :
The application library is not configured correctly.
Make sure that the configuration file is defined for the application library.
I don't understand what happens and I can't find any solution to this problem in Oracle knowledge base !...

In relation to the second error, I have had this before and it related to be below so this may help: Check the following file:
<DOMAIN_HOME>/config/bipublisher/repository/Admin/Configuration/xmlp-server-config.xml
Check that the following line matches were you are trying to publish your apps on OBIEE. The default is normally "Apps Library" but you can name this folder anything you like.
Just change the below line and point to the folder. Restart the services BIMAD.

OBI Mobile App Designer raises Internal Server Error
Hi,
we are running OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 on a 64-bit environment including OBI Mobile App Designer. We have the problem that two components (mapviewer and bisearch) are not starting automatically, which might cause the problem that we get a 500 Internal Server Error when trying to open the Mobile App Designer.
Before this problem occured we were running the OBIEE sample RPD that comes with the OBIEE installation. At this point in time there was only one component not starting up (bisearch component). Accessing the OBI Mobile App Designer was not a problem at all. After some time we decided to change the RPD in order to have more meaningful data available. Since we changed the RPD we face major issues with this environment.
I tried to start the mapviewer and bisearch components manually in the Enterprise Manager. This worked only for the mapviewer. Before we changed the RPD all the components except bisearch were starting as expected. At this time accessing OBI Mobile App Designer was also not a problem.
A few days ago we were even not able to login to analytics, which told us that user or password must be wrong. I then tried to refresh GUIDs because of the new RPD that has been deployed recently. This resulted in a failure of BI server start after trying to refresh GUIDs with the respective settings in instanceconfig.xml and NQSconfig.ini. After resetting the configuration to the initial state we were able to start the components including BI server. What still remains is the issue with bisearch component and the problem related to OBI Mobile App Designer as mentioned before.
We observed that the log file of the managed server contains some error messages that do at least relate to the bisearch component. We did not find any helpful information to tackle this issue. Any ideas on how to resolve these issues in order to be able to access OBI Mobile Designer again? Due to the fact that OBI Mobile App Designer uses BI Publisher there might be a problem with that.

In OBIEE mobile apps designer there is no option for multi select prompts?The navigation page gives option only for single select?Is there a work around for this?
Nic, for me the iTunes window looks like this, when I connect my iPad 3:
I select the iPad in the "devices" section of the Sidebar (use: "View > Show Sidebar" if the sidebar is hidden).
Click the "Apps" tab in the "Devices" pane.
Scroll all the way down in the Devices pane to "File Sharing" "Apps" section.
Then do I click "GarageBand" to select the documents in the right panel.
Which part is different for you? Perhaps you could post a screenshot?

Last Data Update in Visual Composer and Web App Designer
Hello,
We want to show the last data update in query result and we used 2
differents ways to do it: throught Web Application Designer (SP 12) and
Visual Composer (SP 10).
In query result of Web Application Designer, the last data update came
in GMT0 and in visual composer came ok (GMT - 3, that's our time zone).
This value (ROLLUPTIME) is taken out of the RSMDATASTATE table and this is used in SAPLRSMDATASTATE program, that is called by Web App Designer.
Why does the difference exist between: Web App Designer and Visual Composer for last data update?
So, I need more information how the Visual Composer brings the correct value (in our time zone) and Web App Designer in GMT0.

I was facing the same error after installing the Patches for (Mobile app Designer) and so many restarts of all OBIEE components as well as the server,
nothing worked except the same Error 404 for the last couple of days.
then here goes the path for getting the issue fixed juts now.
1: Verify the Patches applied for the Mobile app Designer
2: followed the blog step by step for the process to get completed.

3:after applying the patches and deploying theOBI Mobile App Designer (MAD) manually using WebLogic configuration the bounce all the services on the OBI (all components)
4:the Run the Security Configuration as described in the blog . it wil give error if the services of console is not started as it awaits for the port 7001 of weblogic
5: after the successful completion of the security configuration restart all bi components on the OBI side and wiat for all the services to come up
now i logged in and click on New Mobile APP it worked as expected and it resolved the issue.

Performance of Web Templates Apps that are created in Web App Designer
I have created a Dashboard using Web App Designer in BI7 SPS 10.
The Web Template has 12 queries/DataProviders that are used for 12 charts. Buttons at the top control the view to show 4 Charts Each. When these buttons are selected, command sequences are executed that Hide and Show containers (each chart has its own container).
Also, there are 8 Dropdowns which are used to filter all 12 charts. These Dropdowns are using Posted Values because the requirement is to only show the values that actually exist in the InfoProvider.
When this template is run in Development where the data is minimal, it is taking 17 seconds to load the page. When running each query individually, it is taking each query between less than 1 second or at most 1.5 seconds. Also, the queries have been broadcasted to the OLAP Cache.
Other approaches that I have tried but have not changed the performance:
1. Created this template with Tabs and each template calls a template which contains 4 of the Charts (I believe this is called the Template in Template Approach.
2. Created 3 templates that each contain 4 of the Charts. The Command Sequence Change Template" is used to switch to another Template (e.g. from Monthly Trends to Top 10 and retain/pass the filters that are already selected in the Dropdowns. However all of the dataproviders are needed in each template in order to pass the filter values. Therefore, all 12 queries are executing when you load the main page.
I am looking for suggestions on what I could do differently to speed up the performance to get the Dashboard to respond within 10 seconds.

well, one of the things that I do remember, a solution that we provided for a similar scenario, but, not exactly the same. Another difference is that it was in BW 3.5.
We had few reports that was responding slow. There were reports that was viewed by both sr. managers as well by his team. Sr. Mgr looked only at the high level data while the team looked at the item level data in the same report. So, we provided two links in the same report. Initially it will come up with a static data. To get a detailed data, the user has to click the next link to view item level data.
Now, how this works is through Reporting Agent. The first static data was provided as a cache(pre-calculated) hence, faster. It comes in just 2 secs. But, when the user needs a item level data, he clicks the lik provided, only in which case, it fetches data from the infoprovider(hybrid mode).
We will need to schedule periodically, accordingly, to refresh the cache to provide faster data.
Iam really not sure how far this will help you, but, can spark something( I hope!).

Did you try to use a different browser and are you at the latest patch of BIMAD?
Mainly if you are on IE I guess the patches fix compatibility with the various version of IE most of the time (Firefox and Chrome are better for that).
I also remember your other issue having the dashboard to display only when all the analysis are loaded, so maybe you have something in your setup (network, proxy, browser version, corporate rules etc.) impacting the user experience of BIMAD (but not only) in such a negative way.
I didn't spend weeks on it but never got BI Server crash because of BIMAD and random java errors (are we really talking about java or javascript?). -

the installation of obiee 11.1.1.7.0 was in "Simple installation " mode.
Later we applied patches for obiee 11.1.1.7.1
i just recently applied following patch for installing Mobile Apps Designer
17004920, which enables support for BI Mobile App Designer in the catalog, and the Presentation Services UI
17220944, the actual BI Mobile App Designer app, enabled through extending the OBIEE WebLogic domain
but after applying patches, i can see the "Mobile Application " but when i click on icon of mobile application,
nothing happens,
does anyone have idea,
