DatabaseMetaData returning wrong types
There seem to be a problem with JDBC returning the wrong column type. For oracle date columns I get a java.sql.Types.TIMESTAMP from getColumnType().
Hmmm... unless there is something they are not telling us, I agree. The Timestamp is a composite of the Date type, but with resolution to the nanosecond.
Perhaps they are planning to extend the date column functionality at some point to include this much resolution?

Query with aggregate on custom mapping returning wrong type
I've got a JDOQL query that returns the sum of a single column, where that
column is custom-mapped, but the result I get back is losing precision.
I create the JDOQL query as normal and set the result to the aggregate
expression:
KodoQuery query = (KodoQuery) pm.newQuery(candidateClass, filter);
query.setResult("sum(amount)");
I can also setUnique for good measure as I am expecting just 1 row back:
query.setUnique(true);
The query returns an Integer, but my amount column is a decimal with 5
digits after the decimal point. If I ask for a Double or BigDecimal as the
resultClass, it does return an object of that type, but loses all
precision after the decimal point:
query.setResultClass(BigDecimal.class);
The amount field in my candidate class is of the class Money, a class that
encapsulates a currency and a BigDecimal amount. See
http://www.martinfowler.com/ap2/quantity.html
It is mapped as a custom money mapping to an amount and currency column,
based on the custom mapping in the Kodo examples. I have tried mapping the
amount as a BigDecimal value, and querying the sum of this works. So the
problem seems to be the aggregate query on my custom mapping. Do I need to
write some code for my custom mapping to be able to handle aggregates?
Thanks,
AlexCan you post your custom mapping?
Also, does casting the value have any effect?
q.setResult ("sum((BigDecimal) amount)"); -

PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type
Hi,
oracle 9.2
I have to write one simple procedure to retrieve some column records from the table.
In the Begin... end block...I have written select statement
Now, if i include all the columns in the select query then procedure gets compile without any error...but when I remove any one column or select specific columns in the select query of that procedure then I get below error..
PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type
can anybody explain ?
RegardsHi,
below has been defined in the declaration part and using the below defined cur3 for the OUT parameter.
TYPE Rec3 IS RECORD
col1 tab.col1%TYPE,
col2 tab.col2%TYPE,
col3 tab.col3%TYPE,
col4 tab.col4%TYPE,
TYPE Cur3 IS REF CURSOR RETURN Rec3 ;
is it due to record type has been defined ?

Vikas Singhalhi,
I saw u r coding.
The format trigger only returning the boolean value true or false.
so u have the remove declaration part and elsif condition statement of retur(A) and upto return(B) statement .
function F_4FormatTrigger return boolean is
begin
if :performa_type = 'N/A' then
return(False);
ELSE
return (TRUE);
end if;
end;
otherwise if u want to print the value of A abd B u can write the same code in formula column. -
Stored procedure and function - return table type
Hello again :)
I have one simple question :) Maybe on this forum the question was asked, but I found only similar question and they didn't help me.
It's possible return in Stored Function (with StoredProcedureFunction) as result return TABLE type? Or return table type with output parametr with Stored Procedure? Or instead of the table return the db object, but it is similar problem:)
Now, I can using db types TABLES or DB OBJECTS as INPUT parameters with call stored functions or procedures, for example:
I have this simple db object:
create or replace type BUFFER_DATA_R as object( detail VARCHAR2(4000 ))
And this simple table:
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE BUFFER_DATA_T IS TABLE OF BUFFER_DATA_R
I create simple domain class object:
*public class DMBufferDataStruct {*
public String bufferData;
And I mapped in java with ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor:
ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor descriptor = new ObjectRelationalDataTypeDescriptor();
descriptor.setJavaClass(DMBufferDataStruct.class);
descriptor.setTableName("BUFFER_DATA_T");
descriptor.setStructureName("BUFFER_DATA_R");
descriptor.setPrimaryKeyFieldName("DETAIL");
descriptor.addFieldOrdering("DETAIL");
descriptor.addDirectMapping("bufferData", "DETAIL");
and join to server session ...
Well, i using this doimain class object as input parametr wih stored procedure call:
ObjectRelationalDatabaseField ordf = new ObjectRelationalDatabaseField("");
ordf.setSqlType(Types.STRUCT);
spCall.addNamedArgument(key, key,
Types.ARRAY,
"BUFFER_DATA_T",
ordf);
query.addArgument(key);
args.add(paramsInputs.get(key));
in paramsInputs is Vector of DMBufferDataStruct...
Well, this work fine!
But I can not figure, how to return this table from output parameters of stored procedure or as a return value from stored function?
Example of exceptions:
The number of arguments provided to the query for execution does not match the number of arguments in the query definition. - return as output parameter
PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type - used as result from stored function
So, my question is: Is possible return this table type from stored procedure or function? And if YES, how can I set output argument for call?
Thx advance!
Sorry for my English! :)
Best regards, KLDYour question is: what is faster PL/SQL or PL/SQL? And the answer is: it is PL/SQL of course!
As a general rule, you use a function when you return exactly one result: a number or a string or (more complex) instance of an object type or REF CURSOR or PL/SQL collection.
You use a procedure when:
a) you just do the job and return no result
b) you return multiple results - you can use multiple IN/OUT or OUT parameters
Imagine you have to write a program unit that performs a partitioned table maintenance by adding a partition.
You can implement this unit:
a) if you want return a "status code" (0 on successful completion or non-zero in case of error) then you should use a function
b) if you want no "status code" (in case of error an exception is raised that is handled outside of the program unit) then you should use a procedure
c) if you want "status code", name of tablespace where a partition was created (assume you program is so complex that it can choose different tablespaces based on metadata and free space available) and free space in that tablespace after the creation of a new partition then you should use a procedure with 3 OUT parameters.
But these are good programming practices that can be applied to (almost) any 3rd generation programming language, not only PL/SQL. -
Message: File Error, wrong type
I have some folders listed on my scratch disc when I look in Finder. They say things like Waveform Cache file, autosave vault, audio render files. Inside there are files relating to a project I have completed. If I try to open them I get the message "File Error, wrong type".
It seems to me that it's OK to trash these as I cannot do anything with them. Before doing that I wanted to just check with the experts: is it OK to remove them please? Thanks for the advice.
KeithIf you're done with the project, it's ok to trash everything. If you plan to return to the project, you can delete everything except the actual project file and any media files associated with it.

Wrong type passing between 2 programs
Hi experts
I am not an ABAP expert, so I need a little help:
I have a program with selection screen:
REPORT zload_sl.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK b0 WITH FRAME TITLE text-001.
SELECT-OPTIONS: so_docnr FOR /BI0/SAC_DOC_NO-AC_DOC_NO NO INTERVALS.
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK b0.
Also, I have a second program that calls the first program using submit:
REPORT ZCALL_LOAD_SL.
data: l_so_docnr like range of /BI0/SAC_DOC_NO-AC_DOC_NO.
submit ZLOAD_SL using selection-screen '1000'
with so_docnr = l_so_docnr
and return.
However, the second program fails (no dump) with message type 'A' that says:
Wrong type passing parameters to "SO_DOCNR".
Do you have any idea what I do wrong??
Thanks,
YanivAfter a quick search in F1 help I found out that I should use the "in" phrase:
with so_docnr in l_so_docnr -
Report returns wrong data when run on server
Hi,
I'm runing CRS XI R2 on Windows Server 2003 SP2. When I refresh a report in the Crystal Reports XI Designer, I'm getting correct data. But when I schedule the report to run on the server it returns wrong data. The data is different from what I see when I refresh it from the designer. In the report I have running totals set up to count customers that meet a certain criteria. The report is very large. It take almost 2 hours to refresh.
I was wondering what is causing the difference in running total data between refreshing it on the designer and running it on the server. Is it returning wrong data b/c of it not reading all the records? Should I be making any changes to the server settings? I saw that under pageserver, there are options for setting the 'Minutes Before an Idle Report Job is Closed' and 'Database Records To Read When Previewing Or Refreshing a Report". Do either of those have anything to do with the report returning incorrect data when being scheduled to run on the server?
Thanks,
KimHi Xuandao,
You would need to Use Cell Binding and Trigger concept to accomplish this.
Its simple, however, you would have to work on a trial and error basis to understand this concept as implementing the same is subject to your dashboard and WEBI Design.
Open you LiveOffice.
Insert your WEBI, Now, go to Object Properties of your WEBI, select the second tab that says Prompt, Here, it lists the prompts that you have for your WEBI. This would also enlist your BEx variables as well. Select this BEx variable and click on the button that says Prompt at the bottom of this window. Here, select choose Excel Data Range and click on the cell select button on the right (small button that lets you choose what cell you want to bind this prompt to), Now select a free cell that would not be even populated later on when you run the dashboard say A1 (remember the value that you select). Click on OK and again OK. The WEBI Refreshes and you can see all the prompt values at the cell A1. These are all the possible values stored for your BEx prompt variables (these values are fetched from BW system dynamically).
Now, save this LiveOffice, Go to you dashboard. Connect your dashboard to your Live office. Go to Data-> connections-> Now, select the WEBI and in the right hand pane go to Usage tab, here, Click on Trigger cell button on the right hand side and select A1 in you LiveOffice.
It should work fine.
Let me know.

Receiving an export file error: wrong type
I have created a movie several times in FCP and then exported the movie to QT without any problems. Now all of a sudden, I can't get the movie to export correctly. After the 2 hour export, I'll check on FCP to find that the program has shut down without an "Unexpected Shut Down" message. I check for the exported movie which I find in the saved folder. I click to open and verify the completed job, but find that I get an error instead : "Error: Wrong Type".
The last successful movie I created was September 14th, prior to the QT 7.5.5 upgrade. I thought it was the upgrade, as I found out that FCP does not do well with the new QT version, so I reverted to QT 7.5, but I am still experiencing the same problem with FCP quitting and the movie not being able to read.
What is going on? Can anyone help?Francois:
This is a crazy solution, but this happened to me last week and this solution enabled me to open my files again -- they were all greyed out and I thought I'd lost them. I took my drive in to an Apple Store Genius Bar without resolution and spend 2 hours online with ProApps (FCE/FCP) tech support, also with no resolution.
This fix is based on the fact that FCP when it is started, it automatically opens the project that was open when it was closed. First, in FCP save the current project (this can be any project -- I created a placeholder project -- to a dummy name -- I used "save me". Close FCP and delete the dummy name ("save me") project. Now rename the project that is greyed out and provides the File Error: Wrong Type message that you would like to open to the dummy name, so that it's now called "save me". Now open FCP again. Now save the recuperated file using the original name.

Elements 9 saved file "cannot open because it is the wrong type of file"
I have Windows XP. I just purchased Photoshop Elements 9.
I open a raw, tiff or jpg image in Elements 9, make changes to it and then save it as a tiff or jpg.
About a third of the time the icon for the saved image appears as a file and not a thumbnail of the image in my saved folder.
When I try to re-open it in Elements 9 I get the message "Cannot open because it is the wrong type of file"
I never had this problem with Elements 7.
Please help!
MikeEvery camera model has its own raw format, and Adobe can't update the camera raw plug-in until it gets the information from the manufacturer, and the process takes a while. You shouldn't have to wait more than a couple of months for this. In the meantime you can use the manufacturer's software, or try downloading the latest DNG converter to see if it can make DNG files from your camera that will work in ACR.

Can't open RAW or CR2 files anymore, Get message "Wrong type of file" HELP PLEASE
As a photographer I shoot in RAW or CR2 an di have used my photoshop elements to tweak my pictures for hte last year but now my program says "Wrong type of file"...nothing has changed, so why can't I open these any more? Anyone? please help
Thanks
RobWhat camera model and what version of the raw plug-in are you using with Elements?
It is possible the pictures are corrupted and cannot be read. You can try opening them in the Canon DPP software that should have come with your camera and try exporting as a JPG from inside there and see if it also reports a bad file. Or you can post a public download link for one of your files, here, and others can try the files in their Photoshop or Lightroom and see if they work or not. -
Hi,
I am developing a program the will check for disk space (used,blocks, available ...) and i am using the statvfs.h file.
When tested with small capacity disks (~5G) it works fine (compared to df -k).
When tested with large capacity disks (~400G) it returns wrong values(compared to df -k).
I am using f_bavail and i am casting from fsblkcnt_t to integer/long.
Please help.
Thanx R.Thanks for your answer.
I have discovered that it (statvfs.h) doe's not work with vxfs, only with ufs.
I am using Veritas Cluster Server.
Any chance of an answer ??
thanks,
R.
