Databases pane font
Somehow the font in my databases pane in dreamweaver has
become extremely small,
and I’m not sure how to change it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Harry
Hello again. (Neil Diamond is on this board?)
I believe I've figured out how to resize the Index and TOC entries in the navigation pane for HTML by going to the Advanced Settings form from the Generate page.
But how do you change the size of search entries in that pane? And also, I'm still failing miserably at changing the navigation default wording of Type the keyword to find:.
Thanks again.

Outlook 2013 Font Size in Preview Pane
Our first Mac user in the office - Macbook Air - purchased last week.
We have installed Office 2013 for MAC.
How can we adjust the preview pane font size - make is larger.
We can adjust the font size for new messages and the inbox list of emails is large. But the preview pane font is still small. Cannot figure out how to permanently make it larger. We understand that we can open the message and zoom on each one. but looking for a permanent solution.SJMP wrote:
Seriously? Look at the header it says OUTLOOK. Two of you cannot disseminate what app I am referring to?
How on earth can you not know what app I am talking about.

Please fix the Illustrator Font menu(s)
I can't find any real discussion on this subject anywhere, so hopefully it's not an over-repeated gripe, but why has Adobe through many iterations of Illustrator CS not migrated the Photoshop and InDesign font menu systems to Illustrator? As a creative designer who uses Illustrator as much as any other CS program, I find the font menu in Illustrator to be unbelievably user-unfriendly. Having either a Type > Fonts menu which you can't scroll through at will (no scroll bar, just slow buttons), or having a Character pane font list with no font previewing in it (I use Windows 7) doesn't make any sense. Unless there's some Illustrator menu preference table somewhere where I can set these options, it's time to fix this chronicly repeated design flaw that persists through every version of the software... please.

Code is code and different host APIs require different code. And especially an old hag like AI is going to require a lot of work to adapt even the tiniest bit of resonably contemporary code because the program is so hopelessly behind the curve in too many areas. It sucks, but it's just this way and in light of it's more serious deficiencies like the extremely bad memory handling, this kind of thing is probably one of the lesser inconveniences/ annoyances...

Fonts disabled in Font Book all still on in applications (after SL upgrade)
I've successfully upgraded to Snow Leopard on my 2Ghz intel mac. I had some initial problems with fonts but all now working except that despite fonts being disabled in Font Book they are still active in all applications. As I have 500+ this is really annoying.
I've run Disk Utility. What else? - any ideas how to sort this out???The database for Font Book is in a completely different location in Snow Leopard. The update doesn't seem to always do the hand off correctly as I've seen a fair number of posts stating the same problem. Resetting Font Book's database should fix it.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally.
This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode. Any font sets you have created will be gone. Also, all fonts in the three main Fonts folders (System, Library, your user account) will now be active, regardless of their state beforehand. -
Database options grayed when creating ASP (Javascript) page
I recently installed CS5 Master Suite on a WinXP-32 machine and was able to create ASP pages in Javascript that could connect to and update a Microsoft Access 2003 database. But since certain apps in the suite required 64-bit OS, I wiped the machine and installed Windows 7 64-bit.
I've managed to get it set up so that I can connect to the database if I create a new ASP page with VBScript, but if I create a new page with Javascript, the ability to add a new connection in the database pane is grayed out, despite all the items listed underneath being checked off.
I assume the DSN is setup correctly since the VBScript pages work. I've installed IIS7 on the machine with 32-bit application pool enabled so that the server can connect with the 32-bit ODBC driver.
Any hints on how to get database connection working in Javascript pages would be greatly appreciated!Actually, it appears you were right. . . according to:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-79e0a .html
Note: As of Dreamweaver CS5, Dreamweaver no longer installs ASP.NET, ASP JavaScript, or JSP server behaviors. If you’re working on ASP.NET, ASP JavaScript, or JSP pages, however, Dreamweaver will still support Live view, code coloring, and code hinting for those pages. You do not need to select ASP.NET, ASP JavaScript or JSP in the Site Definition dialog box for any of these features to work.
The only reason I can think that it worked prior to the OS change was that we did have CS4 installed which was later upgraded to CS5. The pages may have either been created prior to the upgrade or it retained support for ASP Javascript through the upgrade, but no longer had it with the fresh install after the OS change,
Thanks for the info. Knowing it was a design decision on Adobe's part made it a bit easier to generate a search to locate the info I was looking for. -
How can I substitute fonts (permanently)?
I'm using InCopy CS4 with remote designers. They send files. I open them and am presented with a list of missing fonts.
I install these fonts, but some of them have slightly different names than what our designer used.
All I want to do is tell InCopy to substitute my fonts, preferably permanently. So I click the "Find Font" button to see a list of those fonts.
It *looks* like I have the option to "Replace With," but the "Change" button is grayed out. When I click "Change All," it appears to substitute the font I've chosen for *every* font.
Still, when I view the document in Layout, it has not substituted anything.
Bottom line: How can I tell InCopy to substitute certain fonts in the doc with certain fonts on my machine?
Thanks!Gah, font name disparities between Macs and Windows are the worst, especially when MS and Adobe are thrown into the mix. I'm sorry I don't know how to fix that problem, but I've heard it before (and I've run into it before on my own network).
It may be how the Windows database tracks fonts internally, it may be how Adobe recognizes font names, it may be how you installed the fonts, it may be because there's a conflict. I *think* you avoid this problem if you use OpenType fonts, which are completely cross-platform, and you just encounter it with Type 1 and TrueType fonts.
I would try posting the issue to the font experts on the Typophile.com forums, they should know more than anyone.
http://typophile.com/
I would also try posting the same issue to Adobe's Type forum ... it doesn't get a lot of traffic, probably because it's called the ATM and Type forum, but I just checked and there's some Type-specific questions and answers there.
Here's the Windows forum for that:
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ee6b306/
If you ever come up with an answer/fix/solution, *please* post it here!

</html>thats my code for part of database, in the parts that go "if CID = 0", thats the new record field, in there right now i just have users put in info into blank input fields, however, i would like to know if i can make certain fields, like Mraketer, and Counterparty fields to have drop down menus, Anyone know??So basically the main focus of what I was askin is in this block of code below:
if (CID == 0) {
// Do the insert via a PreparedStatement
java.sql.PreparedStatement ps = null;
ps = db.prepareStatement("insert into hit_or_miss values(?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)");
ps.setInt(1, nID);
ps.setString(2, DE);
ps.setString(3, SI);
ps.setString(4, TT);
ps.setBigDecimal(5, NTL);
ps.setString(6, ST);
ps.setString(7, CP);
ps.setString(8, ED);
ps.setString(9, SD);
ps.setString(10, MD);
ps.setString(11, CT);
ps.setString(12, MRKTR);
ps.setBigDecimal(13, SC);
ps.setBigDecimal(14, MP);
ps.setString(15, CC);
ps.executeUpdate();
out.print("<font color=darkblue>The new record has been inserted into the database successfully</font>");
} else {
// Do the update via a PreparedStatement
// First we insert a row into the archive table
java.sql.PreparedStatement ps = null;
ps = db.prepareStatement("update hit_or_miss set date_entered = getdate(), summit_ID = ?, transaction_type = ?, notional = ?, structure = ?, counterparty = ?, expiry_date = ?, start_date = ?, maturity_date = ?, currency_type = ?, marketer = ?, sales_credit = ?, markup = ?, comments_color = ? where hom_ID ="+CID+" ");
ps.setString(1, DE);
ps.setString(2, SI);
ps.setString(3, TT);
ps.setBigDecimal(4, NTL);
ps.setString(5, ST);
ps.setString(6, CP);
ps.setString(7, ED);
ps.setString(8, SD);
ps.setString(9, MD);
ps.setString(10, CT);
ps.setString(11, MRKTR);
ps.setBigDecimal(12, SC);
ps.setBigDecimal(13, MP);
ps.setString(14, CC);
ps.executeUpdate();
out.print("<font color=darkblue>This record has been updated successfully</font>");
} when CID = 0, what it does is it pops up a new window called "New Record" and in this new window, there are boxes where inputs can be made, so that when u hit submit, it submits into the database.
What I want to do is, for example, there is a input field called "Marketer" where one can type in his own name as the Marketer, I want make this into a drop down box, where you can pick the marketer, and not have to type it in.
You know how websies have New User, where you create a new user that is added to their database, and usually the COUNTRY field is a drop down menu where you pick the country from. I would like to do that to my database, and this is the area, or the code, that deal w/ new record "IF CID =0" and edit record "ELSE"
Is this possible?
Thanks in Advance -
After downloading, installing, and starting the Xampp copies
of MySQL and Apache, I created and loaded a small database, which I
can see in a browser using localhost. In Dreamweaver I created and
saved a PHP page on which I want to display database informaiton. I
opened the Databases pane, click +MySQL Connection, entered a name,
"localhost," a user name and password, and clicked select to select
a database. I get the "404 File Not Found" error message. I know
that Apache and MySQL are running because I can see them in a
browser using "LocalHost." Whe can't DW see them?, or am I doing
something wrong?hi, I had same problems. Have solved the connection issues by
going back in and making sure my remote paths and testing server
paths were setup correctly. I have been following the cafetownsend
tutorials see how mine is set up. Hopefully it will solve your
problems too
Local Root folder = F:\websites\cafetownsendphp\
Images folder = F:\websites\cafetownsendphp\images\
HTTP address =
http://localhost/cafestownsenphp/
Remote info = local host
Remote folder = C:\Apache2\htdocs\
testing server info php, mysql
Access = local network
Testing server folder = C:\Apache2\htdocs\
Hope this helps all those others who have had trouble getting
dreamweaver to connect to mysql database. It took me days to sort
it out and checked all the forums etc. -
Disabled fonts still active in applications!
For some strange reason, fonts that I have disabled in Font Book are still showing up in active applications. This started happening after I moved my Users directory off of the startup drive to another internal drive.
Why is this happening and what can I do?The database for Font Book is in a completely different location in Snow Leopard. The update doesn't seem to always do the hand off correctly as I've seen a fair number of posts stating the same problem. Resetting Font Book's database should fix it.

Font and font size can not be changed when I did Chinese courses in Presenter7.
After publish,i found that the font of notes tab was too small, so i changed the Notes Pane Font and font size by clicking the button called "Settings",then after clicking theme editor, I re-published, however, when i reviewed in Chrome brower,the font still not be changed, but I checked the Japanese courses and the English courses i did before, but I found that they were normal,their font can be changed,the Notes Pane Font displayed not blank but normally, so did the Size, so who can offer the workround about that?
Message was edited by: cuimei_liangWe are having a similar issue. The text in the Notes pane remains small (sub 8 point?) and the Font appears also to remain the same generic Sans Serif font. Here is a same that we put together after reinstalling Presenter 7 because of another, unrelated issue. What is causing this?

Hello everyone.
Recently I started noticing that when the computer restarts, some of the fonts become disable. This leads to the fact that when you open the fonts window in programs like that Pages, Textedit, Pixelmator etc. program crashes. I always must enable all fonts manually.
In what may be the problem? On the second account I haven't got such problem.
Here is the recording of the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlCSVLXGpV8Thats the answer. So easy to be true, but this way fixed my problem.
So, you sould restart your Mac in safe mode. That flushes the database and font caches. Restart normally. That's it) -
Fonts get disables after restart.
I'm having a strange issue with my Macbook Pro where almost all of my fonts in Font Book get disabled every time I restart my computer. Even if I reactivate them, and restart again, they revert back. I can't seem to find any information on why this is happening.
Sounds like a corrupt font database. Restart in safe mode. That flushes the database and font caches. Restart normally and reset everything with Font Book.

People in our user group and I are inclined to switch the "Aggregation Behavior" preferred preference 1 instead of the default 0. We recognize that this could produce erroneous results for some calculations (e.g. statistical or percentages are good examples).
As long as our user community is aware of this, are there any other risk associated with making this change?
Also, I am curious who has made this change in an Oracle Applications EUL environment?
Thanks,
PatrickHi Sandra
No problem, glad you saw the other posting.
When you launch the registry editor, REGEDIT, you will see 2 panes. The left pane contains folders and the right pane contains the items within those folders. To get to where Discoverer is stored you need to do the following:
1. Click the + key alongside HKEY_CURRENT_USER to expand the group
2. Locate and expand the Software group
3. Locate and expand the Oracle group
4. Locate and expand the Discoverer 10 group
Depending whether the machine is also using Discoverer Administration, you will now see all of some of the following folders:
Administrator
Application
Crosstab
Database
Debug
Fonts
Generic Properties
Report
Session Manager
Table
Of all these, when working in Desktop the only ones you will really need to be concerned with are Application and Database.
Click on Application for a second. In the right-hand pane you will see two differernt kinds of item. You will see some with an icon containing blue letters (these are numeric items), and you will see some that have an icon with brown letters a and b (these are text items).
When you're adding new items, you right-click in the right-hand pane and select New, followed by the type of item you want to add. For numeric items you pick DWORD, while for text items you pick String value.
For the numeric items, typically you will use 1 and 0, with 1 meaning true or on, and 0 meaning false or off.
Word of wisdom: you will generally not see all of the available options when you expand a folder. They are still being applied though and will typically be defaulted to 0. Sometimes you have to manually add items in order to change the behavior.
By the way, when you launch Desktop have you ever been frustrated by how long the Discoverer Desktop popup stays on the screen? This is just a setting. There is nothing going on behind the scenes while it is displaying, Oracle are just advertising. In the Application folder try changing the setting for SplashDelayMsecs from 4000 to 0 and see what happens. Your users will probably like this.
Best wishes

[solved] failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package)
Hi.
So today I tried updating my system after about a month. I keep getting the error in the thread title. Pacman does not mention which packages are corrupted. I tried upgrading the explicitly installed packages individually and those which could upgrade were upgraded. However, a few remain unable to upgrade.
I have tried using the new pacman.conf which comes with the latest package, I have followed this blog post, regenerating my mirrorlist using reflector, re-downloading all the packages, pacman -Syy, SigLevel = Never ... and nothing seems to work. Please help.

Last edited by drsjlazar (2012-06-18 13:51:54)Thank you Jelly It was a .part file. I was using aria2 to download prior to switching to the new pacman.conf. There was only one offending file. I would have thought that pacman would at least tell you which file was corrupted when it found one or even not recognize .part files as complete packages. Anyway, I deleted the .part file everything went smoothly.
Here is the complete output of pacman -Syyu --debug... just for reference.

How To Handle DB That Takes Time To Open
I am using DAO to link sql server tables into mdb. With one database I have it takes roughly 60 seconds for the database to become available to link in the table. When I open the database normally (w/o code) it takes about 5 seconds for the Database
pane to be displayed, and this database has a form load on database open, and that takes about 50 seconds to actually pop-up. I have been using Thread.Sleep() to combat this, but wanted to see if their is a better way to handle a bugger database. This
is my current code, does anyone have a better solution or code tweaks to handle this better?
namespace TestLinkTable
public partial class Form1 : System.Windows.Forms.Form1
private DAO.Database dd;
private DAO.DBEngine db = new DAO.DBEngine();
private stat string dbolocation = "C:\\Testing\\database1.mdb";
private DAO.TableDef tdf1;
private static string SQLName = "dbo.MasterTable";
private static string AccessName = "MasterTable"
private static string SQLConnectionString = "";
private void btnOpenDatabase_Click()
dd = db.OpenDatabase(dbolocation);
Thread.Sleep(6000);
tdf1 = dd.CreateTableDef(AccessName);
tdf1.Connect = SQLConnectionString;
tdf1.SourceTableName = SQLName;
dd.TableDefs.Append(tdf1);I implemented your code and I like the fact that it keeps the form available to still use if need be, but is their a way to keep the timer ticking so the elapsedtime on the form is updated and it doesn't just stop updating while this intensive database is
in process of updating? This is the syntax I have right now
