Datagrid scrolls on change or click event - why?

Hi,
How do I stop my datagrid scrolling one line when I click on the top row?
This happens with change, itemClick, and itemDoubleClick.
It does not scroll on rows other than the top row.

Horizontal scroll on MX1000 sends click event as well. [SOLVED]

As in the topic, I'm having problems with the horizontal scroll sending regular click events to apps as well as the scrolling, making the function pretty unusable. All my other keys work exactly as they should.
As for my configuration, I'm running evdev, and I have "pointer = 1 2 3 4 5 7 6 8 9 10 11 12" in xmodmap.
Ive tried changing the input with both imwheel and xbindkeys, but none of them would intercept the horizontal scroll. (Strange though, since it works fine with the other buttons)
I don't know what else I can do. Is it just a lost cause?
P.S: I know it's not app dependent, because I have tried it with every application I have.

I prefer evdev because I can't seem to get the thumb buttons to work without it.

Seems pretty obvious what the problem is. It sends button 13/14 as input first, the continues with 6/7 which is the scroll. So what do I do to fix that?

Possible bug - Missing click event when handling change event

Using Flex 4.5 SDK, I have a spark ComboBox and a Button next to it for applying a filter according to ComboBox selection.
I listen to both the ComboBox's change event & the Button's click event (for different functions).
When I manually delete the ComboBox text value from its TextInput (i.e. changing selected index to -1) and immediately click on the Button,
the click event-handler function is not being called and only the ComboBox's change event-handler function is executed.
(Selecting a value from the ComboBox's list and clicking on the button triggers both methods on the right order.)
There's also a state definition for the module, but it isn't being changed during these operations...
Is this a bug or a correct behavior? Am I missing something here?
Any workaround suggestions?
(I thought of listening also to mouse-down or mouse-up on the button instead, but haven't tried it yet...)

When using the Button's mouseDown event the behavior is as expected, so there's a simple workaround.
However, it seems to me like there's a bug with the Button's click event listener or something...

I created a test application for that and couldn't reproduce the problem.
Then I figured out the problem and solved it.
It's a bit emmbarrasing, but I actually disabled the button (enabled=false) as in a child method of the change handling code...
(If there is no value, don't allow applying the filter - It makes sense! )
Anyway... No issue after all.
However, I choose to leave this post (and not delete it) as an example of identifying and resolving a strange behavior in a complex application.

Click event for single column in DataGrid

I can add an event listener to a DataGrid of type
ListEvent.ITEM_CLICK, which is triggered when the user clicks any
part of an entire row in a DataGrid. I want to trigger a click
event for just one column. I only want to run a function when the
user clicks in just the first column of the DataGrid, and not run
trigger the event if they click in any other column. Any help would
be much appreciated.

Accessing the event.target returns the entire DataGrid, not
the DataGridColum. Any way to get just the DataGrid column?

Button disabled, click on it and it executes event,, why?

Why in the world is this happening ? I could, of course, put a validation to test the control whether it is enabled or not!
But it should not execute the click event in the first place, that's the whole point of making it disabled !

Thanks for the reply. I figured that out myself, but still it doesn't make any sense to me how SAP SDK provides for a control to be disabled and still make events over it be executable. It doesn't make sense and seems to me its a flaw on the UI design!

Hello Forum,
Is there a way in flex to know which component is taking the click event which is being bubbled to the topLevelApplication. I'm clicking it and some container in the parent hierarchy is invalidating/refreshing the screen on click, so the child ficker's on click.

You need to put traces or alerts for each container till topLevelApplication, in order to know which is flickering the click...

Tabbar tab mouseover or click events..newbie

I am trying to create a tab menu bar that opens a submenu
with a mouseover event over each tab. I can't seem to get the
tabbar children events to do anything. I can get click events to do
things by reading the index property with a script and import
mx.events.ItemClickEvent, but not with the code below. And I don't
understand why the only click event that works below is the one in
the mx:TextArea tags. Any guidance is appreciated.

Thank you Mike, I had itemClick wrong for sure, and I can
look at event.index and see which tab was clicked and that is
great. But what I can't do is see which tab had a mouseover or
rollover event, since event.index does not change with mouseover. I
am concluding that tabbar has focus and therefore the Canvas items
do not and that is why the Canvas mouseover events do not fire. Am
I getting close?

Activating Click event on Item Renderer only

Hey. I'm working on a s:list and a click event problem. I have everything working just fine on the component and linking, but as you probably guessed, the event cues when anything on the s:list is clicked, including the scroll bar or empty space.
Is there a quick fix to make the event only cue when an Item Renderer is clicked inside the list? Help would be much appreciated, I've been trying to solve this problem for a while.

Hi RKaster,
do you need the reference to the item renderer by force or could you immagine a different approach? If you could work around that you could use the change event instead of the click event. The change event gets fired whenever the selection of items in the list change. A click on an item renderer of course will change the selection if the underlying item isn't already selected.
If you can't work around the need of an item renderer reference you should experiment with the mouseChildren property of the List component (inherited from DisplayObjectContainer, see http://bit.ly/dhqCFS). IMHO of course

Click event on a item renderer stops data being passed

I'm trying to create a item renderer based on a Canvas, this renderer is then used in a List component. I'm trying to get a click event fired when the user clicks on one of the items in the List. I'm also formatting the data being passed into the item renderer to do this I'm overriding the set data property like this:

I get a null reference error in my set data function. If I remove the click event the data is passed correctly, I've also found that if I use a rollOut event like this,

the data is passed fine and the event works too, it seems that click events cause the data not to be passed.
Why does having a click event cause this problem? How can I have a click event on the item renderer and still format my data?

Found out that I can use the itemClick event of the List component I'm using my item renderer in, so really my item renderer does not need a click event.

Spark DataGrid scrolling performance problems with debugger

So, i have a DataGrid using the latest SDK (4.5.1) with 500 rows of data and 14 columns. I'm not using any custom ItemRenderers at all; the data is just string and number properties of each data object in an ArrayCollection. When I try to scroll vertically, either by clicking on the scrollbar handle and dragging or by using the arrow buttons, the performance degrades so badly that the application appears to freeze up completely for a few seconds. (I'm on OS X, and I see the spinning beachball icon.) The app then remains so unresponsive as to be pretty much unusable.
The exception to this is when, rather than launching the app as a debug configuration, I just refresh the page so the swf can run without the debugger attached. Detached from the debugger, the performance is great, every time. This is, BTW, using the very latest build of Flash Builder 4.5 Pro; I just installed it last week.
I've tried eliminating various possible causes, and haven't had any luck. I made the data non-bindable, removed all the custom skins and css styling, and even removed event listeners from the DataGrid; none if it seems to make a difference.
Has anyone else noticed this issue? Is there a workaround? If the debugger is to blame (which seems likely), is there some setting that I can turn on or off that will help?

Few days ago I've had the same issue.
My configuration:
Windows 2008 server (i'm working on remote desktop)
Flex SDK 4.5.1
Firefox 8.0 (on Explorer was ok).
Flashplayer version 10.2.153.1
It happened to me only that day (run without debugger, restart application didn't work), but it seems that when I log out from Windows and log in again the problem disappeared.

Issues with click events and nested ellipse objects

I thought by now, I'd have this, but after a number of attempts, nothing is working.
Got a series of circular objects nested inside drawn using the ellipse tool in An of a sumbol called 'box' Click event in each symbol. When clicked, symbol should either hide or change CSS attributes or anything really. Tried a bunch of examples and there's four variations in my .zip file. None of them work and some are ones I've used previously. So I don't get why this isn't working and what the correct code should be. Tried getSymbol, Stage and Composition. None of them worked. So what does?

Opening New Browser window for click event on an image

hi all,
I want someone to help me out solving the problem of opening
a new browser window on the mouse click event of an image or a
button etc.... The new window would contain the datagrid details
from the main window, but in an expanded form. If at all there is a
solution, I even want to know whether there is anyway for sizing
the poped up window,because I dont want the new poped up window to
cover the entire screen.
For getting better idea of my problem, the best example I
could give is the popup window that appears when we click on the
preview button while posting the message to the forum.

I'd definitely try to use a Flex popup... but the
flash.net.navigateToURL method is a simple way to open a popup
window in a new browser. You can pass any data needed by the new
page using the URLRequest and/or URLVariables. The URL you navigate
to could, of course, be another Flex application if necessary. I
use this only when I need to open a popup window on another site,
or an HTML formatter report or something similar.
Concerning yourself with the size of the popup window may be
a bad design choice also. I, for example, have my browser
configured to open all popups in a new tab regardless of sizing
constraints imposed by the designer. If it is absolutely necessary
for you to have control over the size of your popup window, you
should follow the advice given by others and use a Flex
popup.

ALV: Issue with double click event after sorting the ALV

Hello Experts,
I have an internal table that populates an ALV grid. When the user doubleclicks a row, my method HANDLE_DOUBLE_CLICK returns the e_row-index value from the ALV Grid. I use this index value to read the internal table, then retrieve additional data.
My problem is the user may sort the ALV grid before double clicking on a line. If this happens my internal table is not sorted to match the ALV grid, so reading the internal table with the e_row-index value returns the wrong information.
When the double click event occurs, is it possible to capture the value in column 1 instead of a value for e_row-index?
There is one more paramter in HANDLE_DOUBLE_CLICK for row id.   It is coming blank in debugging . what is the purpose of this parameter and how i can make use of it ?

About double click event in ALV report

Hi all,
I want to program a double-click event in ALV reprot.
I am not suppose to use module pool approach for the same.
If a user double clicks on the any of the row of ALV report, the transaction should get called.
Again, I am using function 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' for displaying ALV.
Can you please help me to solve this?

You can do it easily by using Reuse_ALV_GRID_DISPALY.
The User Command subroutine which you pass to this function module in that you can check which field is selected and what is the value of that and also you can get the table index.

How can I move an event in my calendar to my "completed" calendar without changing all the events in the series?
As Apple has yet to upgrade iCalendar so I can check off my events as I complete them (no, I do not want to use a task list/reminder list), I want to be able to move my events to my "completed" events calendar as I complete them. The issue is that most of my events are repeating events, and it changes the entire series. How do I change only the event I clicked on using my iPhone?

If you change anything in a repeating calendar entry it will give you the option of disconnecting it from the series. So may any random change, choose to not change the series.
