Datamart between master data of same system

Hi,
I have a question regarding datamart. My scenario is I need to update an infoobject, 0abc from one master data (e.g. 0product) to another master data of the same infoobject(e.g. 0material). Both of the master data infoobjects were check for 'Characteristic is export data source'. I have tried the datamart via update rules but the options does not allow this.
Any other ideas of resolving this issue?

Hi Lye,
your datasource is located under DM-IO (in RSA6), but it's not assigned to any infosource...so, build your infosource and then assign the datasources generated (after a BW my-self replication)...after doing this, then you can link your target to an infosource in the update rules creation !

Master data from multiple system compunding to source id

Hi all,
We have a requirement to host multiple Country SAP systems in one BW system. This requires compounding with an infoobject key on all the master data and I am using 0soursystem.
and found that this configuration is very cumbersome( time taking) we need it to be cost effective also.
Is there any other way of doing this and at the same time make the Data unique to the Country.
note: one of the system is in production for 2 years now and loose that data.

a) what about harmonizing master data over all systems and defining one system as the leading master data system?
b) While uploading the master data, do a concatenation of the key (material no. with the source system id or something similar)
c) assign a complete different key to the master data and post the original key to a nav. attr. and use the nav. attr. for reporting e.g. material 4711 --> change the key to 0001, post the original no. 4711 to a attr. called zmat_orig which is added as nav.-attr. to the attributes.

Transaction data represents any transaction occured between two parties like Customer and Vendor.
We maintain id's to maintain the Customer and Vendor.
When we look at the id we don't have a clue like who is the customer, where does he live,,....
So all this info is maintained in Master data in three categories:
1. Attributes
2. Text
3. Hierarchies.
Collection of Attribute, Texts and Hierarchies is called master Data in BI/BW.
Eg: 0MATERIAL, 0CUSTOMER,,,,,
Master data: is data that remains unchanged over a long period of time. Master data contains information that is always needed in the same way. Characteristics can bear master data in BW. With master data you are dealing with attributes, texts or hierarchies.

Master Data is one form of the historical data. There is no frequent changes in the data.Every application has it's own Master Data.

A user master record defines the authorizations assigned to a user. Based on these authorizations one can access the master data.
Master data - it is the data which is used long term in SAP r/3 system such as vendor master , material master, customer master,
there is no such thing like user master data to the best of my knowledge

Asking for help about modification to article master data of retail system

Deal All,
Is there any one can tell me how to modify the article master data in retail system ?
I have tried to deal with the requirement by BDC and calling the function BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT,
but both of the two approaches can not update the customized fields in the table MAW1.
For BDC, the changed data can only be update in debug mode.
For the function, no customized fields of table MAW1 are taken into account as to its parameters.
Can anyone tell how I should do ?

Master Data and Source System Data Reconciliation.

Hi Experts,
I would like to know the best ways in reconciliation between the source system and the data that is extracted into BW.
We are using only standard DataSources.
I am currently running RSA3 on a DataSource on IS-U side and then comparing it to the number of records in Master Data Maintenance on BW side. But I have noticed difference in counts.
There is no ABAP logic behind the extractors.
Kindly, suggest the best ways to do effective reconciliation.

At the outset, I will sugegst you activate the data in the master data info object and also perform attrubute change run before you start the reconciliation.
One of the main reasons of data mismatch for master data is presence of "duplicate" records at the source system and you do eliminate them during the data loading process. In your case, you say there is no data manipulation during the data loading process.
Another reason is where you bring master data from multiple sources and the later load of data overwriting the earlier load of data for the same key of records.
Assume you load data to the PSA before you load to the info object. The practice is to reconcile with the PSA data to the RSA3 first and then between the PSA and the master data.

Mismatch between Master data table /BIC/P and SID table /BIC/S

in our master data table we have logsys in key
after a system copy we had a problem with logsys name, when we have copied our bw prod system in test system we find prod logsys like value, the BDLS doesn't change all values for all structures and some master data table still have prod logsys instead of test logsys but some records have test logsys values
for example:
our production logsys is: BIP300 and our test logsys is BIT300
in our master data test table we find had some records logsys value like BIP300 and others with BIT300
all our ODS and CUBE have the right logsys value in test "BIT300"
we have developed an ABAP report to execute on selected tables to change logsys from BIP300 to BIT300
we execute the report on only P master data table like /BIC/PZCOOR and it's work fine and has changed all the records values
from BIP300 to BIT300 and this program has eliminated all duplicate records
the problem is when on our master data try to view data we find that bw return data from SID table /BIC/SZCOOR
in fact if we go to control data on /BIC/SZCOOR table we find that there still are records with logsys BIP300 and BIT300
and the same if we execute our query on ZCOOR we have values with BIP300 and BIT300
how should we fix this problem?
if we execute our ABAP report on /BIC/SZCOOR to change logsysname we can fix that or we could have problem?
please can give me some useful help

Hi ,
Follow the sequence of deletion .
1.Delete data from cube YMM_*
2.Delete data from 0pur_c*
3.Delete data from 0material .
4.Delete data from info_rec .
Best option would be do selective deletion for these four materials and run a repair request then after to update into data target.

Sync the FS Item (CX 13) Master data in QA systems

I have requirement like this, Synchronize all new FS Items (T-Code CX13) from production to the QA and Development environments, on average there are approximately 20 new FS Items set up in a month. ( this is the reson to do this: The weekly job to update the FI GL master data from production to Dev and QA environments, does not include the ECCS FS Item master data. This causes failed testing for projects, enhancements. At this time ASSAP team manually enters the FS Item in QA environments. This is very disruptive and time consuming and causes delays in testing. )
Can you please suggest me the best way to do this.

Any master data changes to a "non modifiable" client can be sent using one of the two options :
1. Transport Request
2. ALE (IDoc)
Most probably the master data change he wants to transport requires an ALE setup between the two systems.

Where is inbound master data in reciever system?(IS- xi proxy- SAP sys)

I used XI proxy to connect IS and receiver(SAP sys)
When process is error,what is the TCD to monitor the inbound master data(for example:PO) just like the TCD:WE02

if you send data to an SAP system via proxy, you can use transaction sxmb_moni in the target system to monitor the calls just like you use it in XI.

Outsource payroll. Split of master data among 2 system

We run SAP for our HR master data and outsource our payroll system to ADP.
We aim to input data in SAP opposite to input it in the ADP system. But we want to do that only if there is not a risk that the infotype to store the data in SAP might eventually need a Legal Changes update (to update logic or check tables) that would force us to apply the most up to date Support Package (or CLC...) to bring these legal changes into our system.
In this context we want to asses what is the risk/probability that the use of the following infotypes could need at some point the "timely" application of legal changes for them to work (notice that infotype just need to be able to store the data; further processing of the data is to be done in ADP) Please provide an answer for each of the groups of infotypes as some of them can be moved to ADP while others stay in SAP:
1) Infotype 207 and 208: Residence and Work tax area
2) Infotype 210: W-4 witholding information
3) Infotype 234: Withholding Overrides
4) Infotype 161: IRS Limits

Though the operations are doing in multipule location but data will be saved in single Central data base.
this central data base is placed in a secured location and will be tested properly before placing i.e. it will not impacted with calamities like cyclone... etc.
Transaction data is done only at front end but data will entered in the frontend will be updated in back end data base.
Note: we may have 2 servers data bases which will placed in different loaction this will be used if once gowes down,other will start working with out any imact.
With respect to Sync.. 2 server data bases will be automatically where ever is some change in db1.
