I'm trying to use expdp to export only certain rows of a table. Am I doing something wrong? (obviously yes ;-) Getting the following error
$ expdp user/password directory=DP dumpfile=dunp.dmpdp tables=user.t_calculationhistory query=user.t_calculationhistory:"WHERE DATEOFCALCULATION>TO_DATE('20081111','YYYYMMDD') AND DATEOFCALCULATION<TO_DATE('20081112','YYYYMMDD')"

Your condition is wrong because date of calculation is greater than 11 and less than 12, i think you have given wrong date.

This might be simple for a experienced user. I wrote a query in my sql 2000 database, to retrieve records. The query looks like this.
select employee.employeeLName,employee.employeefname,employeepay.badgeNumber,

ON employee.employeeid=employeepay.employeeid;
Since this is our payroll database, everytime a user is changed whether its , pay rate, fulltime-partime, etc, it updates a new record within the database. So when I run this query it pulls like 10 or so records of each employee. There is a column in the
employeepositions table that is Effectivedate. I need to write this exact query but have it pull the records of only the newest effective date for each employee? Any help would be great!

Welcome to the forums.
Looks like you've not met the alias yet. An alias is a short way to refer to a table. After you've used the table name, you can follow it with a short name (FROM employee e), you can then reference that table using it's short name else where in the query.
This can make your queries significantly shorter, and much easier to read.
Since you're on 2000, we have to use ugly inserts. Sorry about that. I've mocked up your tables based on the information you gave us. In future if you could do this yourself, it will help people to help you.
Basically, we need to self-join the table and get the most recent effective date for any given employee:

If I understand correctly, you want to pass distinct values to report parameter. In Reporting Service, there are only three methods for parameter's Available Values:
None
Specify values
Get values from a query
If we utilize the third option that get values from a dataset query, then the all available values are from the returns of the dataset. So if we want to pass distinct values from a dataset, we need to make the dataset returns distinct values. The following
sample is for your reference:
Select distinct field_name from table_name

File uri with query string can't be propagated by desktop.browse()

I have been trying to show some help pages using the following command:
java.awt.Desktop.getDesktop().browse( helpURI);
while the helpURI.toString() prints out the following:
file:///C:/Share/Code/phoenix/Install/REDIST/Help_Files/en/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?context=BD&href=Chapter%202%20-%20Configuration.1.14.html
But when the getDesktop().browse() API is executed it will only propagate the uri-path and not the query string.
So the browser shows the following url as a result of the browse() call:
C:\Share\Code\phoenix\Install\REDIST\Help_Files\en\wwhelp\wwhimpl\js\html\wwhelp.htm
But if I manually copy the string "file:///C:/Share/Code/phoenix/Install/REDIST/Help_Files/en/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?context=BD&href=Chapter%202%20-%20Configuration.1.14.html" to the internet explorer it works fine.
So can somebody give me any guidance on how I can propagate the file uri with query string through the browse() API or is there a better API for that?

The "cmd /S /C" suggestion didn't seem to work. I don't think the problem is in java but how the command line parameter needs to be added from msdos shell to "iexplore.exe"
When from the command line I enter the following command:
iexplore.exe file:///C:/Share/Code/phoenix/Install/REDIST/Help_Files/en/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?context=BD&href=Chapter%202%20-%20Configuration.1.14.html
I get the same result as invoking from java Desktop API --- it truncates everything from question mark. I tried palying around with double quotes, single quotes, escaping and nothing seem to work.
Any ideas?

Expdp error with query parameter

i am trying to use datapump and using query parameter in there as below...
but when i use the below, its exporting some system "repcat$" tables and
nothing realted to scott.audit table or anything realted to my query where

Seems little weird but can you:--
1. Drop the dpdump directory.
SQL> drop directory dpdump;
2. recreate it and then grant the permissions.
SQL> create directory dpdump as '/backup/dpdump/orcl';
The folders must exists in the location.
SQL> grant read,write on directory dpdump to system;
3. SELECT directory_name, grantee, privilege
FROM user_tab_privs t, all_directories d
WHERE t.table_name(+)=d.directory_name

Query for records on a block with Query Data Source Type : Procedure

Hi All,
The veriosn of form I'm using is:
Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.23.2
I have a block based on a procedure.
But when I enetr-query and search for records specific to ceratin criteria even then the result of the Query is all records.
Is Query not allowed on a block with Query Data Source Type : Procedure.

When you use a table based block, forms can construct any select with any where clause based on the given inputs. Using a procedure based block, forms cannot "know" which in or out parameter of the procedure corresponds to which item. Even if Forms could pass the value of an item to an argument automagically, the procedure would have to "do something" with the argument, and you´d have to code it.
So, any item that should be used in the where-clause must be mapped to an argument.
Perhaps it would be easier to use a table based block querying a view? For DDL, you could use an instead-of-trigger on the view.

Performance of WITH query.

I have a WITH query (inline view) and when I run it against my pre-production database (millions of rows) it hangs and never comes back. However, when I run it on my development database (just a few rows), it comes back fairly quickly. So clearly, the number of rows is the issue here.
The question is what should I check on the Oracle database side to find out what is going on ? I have checked the PGA and the temporary segments (which seem to be fine) but I am failing to see what other components I should check.
What does the WITH command impact on the database level ?

What does the WITH command impact on the database level ?It can improve queries where the subquery is used more than once in the query, as well as simply making some queries easier to read for the developer.
The optimizer will decide whether it's best to materialize the results of the query as an internal temporary table to reference in the main query, or whether to embed the query as a sub query, depending on the statistics, cardinality, selectivity etc. as any other query is optimized.

Can you explain me, how we can set up a pre-query with characteristics and key figures.
e.g.
Due the performace reason in the olap process, we have the calculate a range of values before
in query 1. This query contains characteristics and key figures.
In the query 2 we've preselection-variable (replacment-path: replacement with query) to query 1.
My question is, how we can get also the key figures-values from query 1, to continue to use the values for query 2?

As this is the variable restriction and variable restrictions are not put on key figure values (except RKF). As I know you will not be able to get key figure values using replacemtn path with query.

I have created 2 UDF's at title level in marketing document, and assigned Formatted search with query to it with auto refresh when posting date field changes. One UDF gets updated automatically and the other one doesnt.

I took the effort to understand you question but I am not quite sure if I have all the pieces of the puzzle yet. I can see Jeyakanthan has already grilled you with questions and you have answered all of them.
UDF1 - is this se to Auto Refresh - Refresh regularly - on Posting Date?
UDF2 - On which field is this set to Auto refresh?
UDF3 - On which field is this set to Auto refresh?
One thing to note when you have two fields with FMS and the second one dependent on the value of the first, the second one does not auto refresh because it cannot detect the Field change on the First UDF.
This is probably what you are experiencing.
If you don't mind I would like to understand the business reason for the 3 UDF's and what each one is for. There might be other options to look at to achieve the same result.

SharePoint 2013 List View with query string filter stops working after editing view from browser

I have created one list definition in which I have added one list view which will filter data from query string paramater
So when I am creating list from my list definition, view with query string filter is working fine.
But when I am modifying view from UI(I am not changing any thing , just opening "Modify View" page and then click on "Save" button), view gets stop working means it's not filtering data based on query string
Any suggestion what I am missing?

The Miscellaneous is located in the contact list that you used for the connection.
So , you need to edit the page, then edit the contact list that you used, in the web part properties of the contact list, you will find Miscellaneous, then expand it and select ‘Server Render’ .

View with columns based on function - problem with query

I'm using Oracle 9i;
I've created a view which has columns based on a table columns (multiple columns from 1 table) and funtion (multiple columns based on 1 function).
The function takes ID as the first argument and name of the column to determine which value to return as the second one.
Here is a sample of such function (simplified):

There is no problem with query:
SELECT * FROM my_view;
The problem arises when I query the view (regardles of '=' or 'LIKE'):
SELECT * FROM my_view
WHERE name LIKE '%some_part_of_name%'
The query returns rows for same names, for same it doesn't. If I put '=' and the whole name the query returns nothing, but when I put 'LIKE' and the first letter it returns rows in some cases.
I've tried to debug this situation and I've discovered that the function recives ID not in the proper order and not the same amount of times - in explicit:
for each ID in (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... , 100) the function should be called twice for each ID and in the same order, but it does not.
I get 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 6, 20, 20 and so on.
Help needed.

The problem is more complicated than the solutions provided here.
The reason why I'm using the function is this:
the original view was constructed using multiple union all selects and the speed was terrible. I've created the index on the base table to obtain a proper sort. For retriving all records at once the view works perfectly, but if one wants to query by columns based on function the results are suprisng - sometimes there are, some times there are none, or if you serch with "like" and only a part of string there are results, but with "=" there are no results.

"Source not found" Error creating URL Data control with query parameters

Hi,
I have a restful service for which i want to create a URL data control. I am able to create the URL data control successfully when i am not passing any parameters in the Source field. But if i am specifying the parameters in the source field like this Department=##ParamName##, something weird is happening. After giving the param string in the Source field, it asks for default param value to test the url. It tests the url successfully. After that i select XML as the data format in which i am mentioning the xsd like this . "file:///C:/..../something.xsd" . And this is when i am getting the error. "Invalid Connection. The source is not found". I am giving exactly same path for xsd which i gave while creating URL data control without query parameters. Infact i was able to create the URL data control with query parameters successfully till afternoon. after that it started giving me this error all of a sudden. Infact as soon as i was able to create a URL data contol with query parameter successfully, i took a backup of the application before moving further. But even that backup is not working now.
As far as i understand, i dont think there will be any change in xsd if query params are passed to a web service. Please correct me if i am wrong.
Just dont know what could be the issue. Please help

I have two basic questions with respect to an ABAP WebDynpro application :
a) If an ABAP WebDynpro application has been developed, how could it be made available to the end user?
b) Can an ABAP WebDynpro application be developed in ECC or is it only applicable for version 4.6c?

Answer - By providing direct link of the WD application created in SE80, creating iView for webdynpro abap application in the portal environment and NWBC environment

Answer - Yes it can be developed in ECC. Webdynpro ABAP is introduced in NW 2004s (SAP NetWeaver 7.0 or ECC 6.0)
