Datasource not available in BI

Hi All,
New to BI
I have to create a datasource with view and then have to replicate the data source in BI. as 3.x datasource
1) I have created the Generic Datasource with View
2) Able to see the datasource in RSA6
3) Now i hv to replicate the datasource in BI but i am unable to see the datasource in BI.
am i missing anywhere in the process.
please suggest me .

DataSources not available

Hi Friends,
We have connected BW-Quality system to SAP-R/3 Production System to Refresh data form R/3 Production to BW-Quality system for testing purpose.
For this we have to create Transfer Rule between BW Quality-Infosource to R/3 Production DataSource to communicate between these two systems.
I have created Transfer Rules for many of them and created infoPackages too....
But while creating Transfer Rules for some of the infosources the DataSources are not available. The DataSources are in Active in the R/3 Production system.The same available in the SAP R/3 System which is working fine to Extract for BW-Production system.
But it is not available to connect with BW-Quality system.
I replicated all datasources from R/3 system and Replicate MetaData also.....even they are not available.......
What might be the reason and what is the solution for the same.,.,....

Hi Anand,
There are a couple of possibilities why the datasources from R.3 are not appearing.
1. It could be that for those particular datasources, your user profile have security authorization limitation. Can you try if its possible to use a "sap_all" access just for viewing all the data source so to remove the doubt on security?
2. Its possible that the application component from R/3 RProd is not available in your BW system, so the missing D/S might be in the generic node, can you try doing a search through the technical name of your data source after you have done your replication?
3. A long shot guess but its possible that the user that you are using when you performed the replication of source system had security limitation also that for those particular D/S they were not captured by the profile available for your user ID.
For the meantime try these items, let me know if you find out other things as that might help understand what happened.

DataSource not available after restart

Hi,
I have created a new JDBC driver for MS SQL Server 2005 and a custom data source that is using the JDBC driver and that is connecting to my database. Upon creation of the data source, the data source is shown as available (green) and works fine.
However, when I restart my system, the data source is still there, but is not available (red). When I delete the data source and create it again, it works fine.
Does anybody know why the data source might be not available after the restart of the server? Any help would be highly appreciated.

I don't know what I should change in the MS SQL Server. And as the DataSource works correctly once I have deleted and recreated it, I would have thought that the problem is somewhere with the application server.
A colleague of mine is using the same application and is having the same problem, although he independently created his system.

Data Mart Datasource not available in active state

Hi Experts,
I need to use the generated data source 80PLANTM to create transformation rules for a DSO, but I find that the datasource is available in Modified State (Active Version does not exist). Since this is a Emulated 3.x DS, I am unable to activate it.
Also I don't see a NW04s DS available. We are on NW04s SP 7.
Can someone guide me through this?

Symptom
DataSources (R3TR RSDS) are not activated automatically during their replication if they are not active already.
This seems to differ from the behavior during the replication of 3.x DataSources (R3TR ISFS).

Reason and Prerequisites
When you activate a DataSource (R3TR RSDS), the system generates the Dictionary objects, the transfer structure in the BI system and the source system, and the Persistent Staging Area. This is a fixed part of the object generation that ensures that data can subsequently be loaded to the Persistent Staging Area. A transformation does not have to exist for this purpose.
This type of process was not used for 3.x DataSources: With 3.x objects, data could only be loaded after a 3.x DataSource (R3TR ISFS) had been mapped to a 3.x InfoSource and the relevant transfer rule had been activated. This means that this type of process also required an explicit and manual step to generate the Dictionary objects.
If all replicated DataSources (R3TR RSDS) were activated automatically, the system would generate a large number of mostly superfluous Dictionary objects. In addition, the replication would take several hours, for example, when you connect a new source system with several hundreds of DataSources.
Solution
Before loading data or creating a transformation, manually activate the DataSources (R3TR RSDS) that are really required.

Business content 3.30: Datasources not available for installation

Hello,
we have recently upgraded our business content from 3.10 to 3.30 in order to get new business content (e.g. datasource 2LIS_13_VDKON - billing item pricing conditions).
Although the upgrade was successful, the new datasources cannot be found in the Administration Workbench/ Business Content in order to install them.
Is there something more we should be doing after the upgrade, in order to be able to see the new Business content as available for installation?

You can not find the datasources in Admin workbench. Datasources can be found in R/3.
Login to your R/3 system. Go to RSA5. Expand all. Search for your datasource. Click on "Transfer Datasources" icon on tha tab. This installs your datasources on R/3 system.
Once the installation is complete, login to BW, go to RSA1, "Source Systems" tab, select your source system and 'replicate datasource' by right clicking on it.
You can install corresponding Infosource from "business content" tab in BW.

ODBC Socket datasource not available on Mac install of ColdFusion 8

We are trying to download ColdFusion 8 on a Mac Intel Server
to connect to a FileMaker Pro 8 database. The datasources does not
include the ODBC Socket choice which is what I have to use to
connect to the database. Am I installing something wrong or what?
It does show up if I download it on a PC, but not on the Mac.

The odbc client/server app that ColdFusion 8 ( and mx6 &
mx7) uses to make ODBC connections is a windows only application.
Therefore ODBC socket is only available on windows. You will not
find it on linux, unix or mac versions.
FileMaker 9 appears to supply both ODBC and JDBC drivers.
Perhaps earlier versions do, too. Use a JDBC connection to connect
to filemaker as described
here.

Datasource not available

Hi all,
we found that 2LIS_06_INV is the datasource that we need. However we dont have it because we are in ECC 5.0 and the basis guys tell us it´s not possible to upgrade the content version.
With this situation which would be the best solution for us? to create the datasource manually based on a view? based on a function module? or maybe it´s possible to install the datasource individually in the source system.

Hi,
The datasource 2LIS_06_INV is available ECC 6.0 and BI 7.0 onwards. If your SAP environment is different from the above, then you can consider creating a generic datasource on RBKP and RSEG to meet your requirements.

Transport Error - Datasource not available in the target system

Hello exports,
-- We have a custom Inboject zvendor
-- text master data is coming from 0vendor
-- need to transport the datasource 80vendort of the datamart + some other objects along with it.
-- transport from CLDEV1 to CLQLT1
-- included: datasource 80vendort, trasnfer structure, transfer rules.
-- error: Datasource 80vendort does not exist in the source system CLQLT1 of version A.
-- could you please suggest me if i have missed something in here.
Measures taken:
-- i have tried doing generate export data source in the CLQLT1 system also.
-- replicated the datasources for the self source system in CLQLT1.
-- observed that the datasource 80vendort is not yet visible in datasource overview of the self source system of CLQLT1.
Solution:
-- create a new tranport only for the datasource 80vendort, transfer structure and transfer rules.
Wondering if this solutions would work. Is there any thing I am missing...?

Hi Sweatha,
When we are transporting data source, did you know that we should first transport the data source from R/3 DEV to R/3 QA (Source Systems) and replicate them to BW QA later on?
Because if we transport BW Objects first, we will get similar errors such as what you have experienced.

EDN not available throws runtimeFault - Fault Policy Framework unable to catch it

Hi Team,
I have been working on some error handling scenarios for EDN .
From my observation if BPEL is used to publish the event, BPEL Fault policy cannot catch EDN errors (e.g., EDN unavailable) but BPEL catch activity can catch it.
Steps performed :
1. Create a BPEL to publish the event to EDN.
2.Create fault policy to catch BPEL runtime fault .
3.Go to weblogic console to change EDNdatasource target to get "EDN datasource not available error".
4.Test your BPEL.
My requirement is to retry such faults and invoke human intervention after retry failure using BPEL.
Please let me know how to achieve this

P.S. The fault management framework main purpose is to define a enterprise wide standard policies to handle the faults that will be applied to various/all composite. Hence your specific fault that is specific to a composite should not creep into to fault management framework as this is not the enterprise standard i.e., every composite may have to handle the invalid variable, based on where it occurred and for what variable it occurred.

Date of last extraction from DataSource 0HR_PY_PP_2 is not available

Hello all,
We are using this data source to extract data for HR in BW. We are currently on BI 7.0
When I used this datasource in BW development system it worked fine. But now I am trying to extract data using the same datasource in BW QA system and I am getting this error.
"Date of last extraction from DataSource 0HR_PY_PP_2 is not available HR_BIW_PP"
The datasource is delta supported so I am trying to init it, and thats when I am getting this error.
Has anyone seen this message before, can some give some suggestions?

Just quick check, check rsa3 if you can get any data and also it seems like it is complaining about changes in extract structure, can you compare the extract structure of the two system manually? If you have made changes to the extract structure, did you move that change in the source system? Sometimes it worth it to replicate the datasource and reactivate the transfer structure using program RSActiTran.

Hi,
Did you delete the request under scheduler menu of your infopackage?
Scheduler->Init options from the Source system->delete the request
run Init with transfer option now. If it doesn;t help, simply replicate the datasources once and try initializing.

I am facing issue while changing the UME to LDAP.....
With Java_ABAP_LDAP.xml the EP is running fine ..but when I am changing this config file to ...LDAP ..
i.e. dataSourceConfiguration_iplanet_deep_readonly_db.xml I am getting the error ....when I logged with administrator user
as page not found or not available.....
I checked oss notes 939412 and 1140519 but no help..............

Hi Yogesh,
While changing the xml to ldap, you need to change ldap server details also in the ldap server tab under ume configuration. And, also do the connection test using test connection button in the configuration screen.

Characteristic in transformation but not available for dispay in DSO

Hi All
I am puzzled with this issue.
There is a characteristic which I need add to a report however it is not in the cube.
The characteristic is being extracted from ECC, it is in the datasource & when I view the transformation to the DSO I can see that it has been mapped to a characteristic in the DSO. I can also see this characteristic when I dispay the DSO, it is included in the data field list.
However, if I 'display data' in the DSO, it is not available. Also in the transformation from this DSO to the cube, it is not in the source list. The DSO is writeoptimised.
Please can explain what is going on.

Thanks very much for your response to my query. I have decided to assign this attribute to a characteristic.
Just to let you know the Attribute is 'Text of CO Doc Line Item' ie the description. I want to assign it to "Line Item of CO Document"
I updated the "Line Item of CO Doc" by ticking on 'with master data' in the Master Data tab. The attribute tab then appeared I added the attribute. I reloaded the transactional data from PSA through to the DSO (write optimised) and then loaded it into the Cube. I created a test query & added the characteristic & then displayed the attribute. Unfortunately, eventhough there is values in the PSA for this, the results that are returned are #.
What steps have I missed? I hope you can help me again

Appended field is not available in BI

Hi Gurus,
I have appended a field in the datasource, removed a hidden tick so that it will be available in BI system but after replication of datasource I still could not get this field in transfer structure. When I was checking I found that in display datasource window under "Fields" tab for that particular field "Transfer" column is uncheck, due to which the field is not available.
Now my concern is that how should I make this available in BI.

I am on BI 3.5 system.
and I didn't mean that my datasource is not in ROOSFIELD table, it is there but what you are saying is not applicable in my case. in ROOSFIELD, for the appended field the OLPTSrc version is "A" and Field Attribute is "P" which is what the ABAP program stated above will do and I was very well aware of the program.
My, ROOSFIELD output is,
2LIS_XX_XXX A ZZXXXX P
This field was not hidden earlier as well, i could get this field for selection in RSA3 and even in infopackage also.
But, the only concern is what I posted in my 1st question.
How will I get that checkbox ticked?

I am working on BI + ECC 6.0. Have created a ODS object using RSA1OLD. While activating the ODS, am getting this error:
1. Error:
R7I028
Object could not be activated
2. Error:
RSAR238
IDoc type for source system T90CLNT090 is not available
Error when creating the export datasource and dependent objects
Error RSAR238 : IDoc type for source system T90CLNT090 is not available
I have already checked trx & dtps, but could not find resolution.

Yes, you would need to check with BASIS team how they have created an alternate source system (for debugging) & prepare a RFC b/n these systems. Can you just check the settings in the source system and BI source system...and check the source system for the same BI system. Right click > Check and then do a restore or take the help of basis to fix it. What I think is a possible solution is : RSA1 > Source system > Search System > Right Click > Activate
