Datasource_num_id for non siebel source

Hi,
We are using bi apps 7.9.6.1 with siebel as one data source. And we also have sales data which is non siebel existing different database. and we need to bring this sales data to OBAW as w_uopps_sales_f and join with siebel dimensions like product_d, position_d, geo_d, day_d ect.. the source doesb't have any system columns like created date, created by last_updated_date last_updated_by. which is having only month and year columns. no idea how to do incremental loading. and what number should I assign for datasource_num_id. for siebel it is 1 and ebs 2. Are there any issue If I assign 3 for non siebel. generally 3 uses for universal sources.
Thanks
Jay.

This should be set to be the same as $$DATASOURCE_NUM_ID that you have for your EBS source system. If you go in DAC to Setup->Physical Data Sources and find the name for your EBS connection, you will see the $$DATASOURCE_NUM_ID value. Make sure you also set $$GBL_DATASOURCE_NUM_ID to this value as well.

  • Implementation strategy for non sap sources

    hai friends,
                could anyone help with the
'implementation strategy for non sap sources'.

    Hi,
Its the same as with R3 sources.Only difference is you'll have different underlying interfaces. Non SAP systems can either be flat files, ETL systems or legacy systems using ETL connection, Oracle or Java systems XML, etc.
But your stategy would remain the same only per your non sap source system, the transactions and the ways you configure your datasources would differ.
    Cheers,

  • Can SAP BI (BW) stand alone as a data warehouse for Non-SAP Source Systems.

I recognize that the answer to this question depends on the version of SAP BW we are discussing. My question is one being posed to determine how SAP BW fits in with the BI world and the other tools available.
    - Can a company implement SAP BI without also having the SAP ERS applications?
    - If so, will SAP BI effectively support 3rd party source systems and what is needed to make it effective (NetWeaver XI, NetWeaver 2004s)?
    Thanks for your expertise.
    Denny

    hi dear,
clearly the most valuable input given by BW is a native integration with all SAP world...
well, you can manage a BW without having a SAP ERP as source system:

  • Change Capture For Oracle EBS Sources

    Hello,
I am trying to understand how the change capture process happens in DAC.
For Siebel sources, I understood that it happens through 'image' tables. And there are some docs/info available on this.
I am just wondering how this happens in case of Oracle EBS and other sources. I think there is no image table concept with these sources.
Can anyone point me to some info on this..?
    Many Thanks..!

Yes, for EBS, PeopleSoft and other non-Siebel sources, the change capture process is usually based on a form of "LAST UPDATE DATE" on the source system tables. This is is usually compared against the "LAST REFRESH DATE" in the DAC for the source and target tables. This can be seen if you look at the Session overrides for the FULL versus INCREMETAL workflows/sessions. Of course, this process may differ based on the nature of the source system. I believe certain sources that do not have a useable "LAST UPDATE DATE" may require a full extract each time. The best approach would be to go through the vanilla ETL code for FULL versus INCREMENTAL sessions.
if this was helpful, please mark the answer as correct.

  • 'Error Occured in the Source System' for Non SAP system

    Hi Gurus,
We have an Info Package which is getting the data from the Source System 'DOCP' and it has failed due to 'Error Occured in the Source System'.Since the source system is Non SAP system there is no option 'Replicate Data Sources'.So,First I activated the transfer rules by the program and ran the package again .But again the same error occured.
Please suggest me how to proceed for this error for Non SAP Systems?

    Hi,
Check the RFC connection in SM59 and reactivate the source system again.
    Hope this helps..
    Thank you,

  • Mapping deploy for Non-Oracle Data Source hangs

    Hi All,
I am trying to deploy mapping for Non-Oracle Data Source and it hangs.
Oracle version is 10.2.0.3 and OWB version is 10.2.0.1.3.1
It would be really appreciated if you can help.
    Thanks!
    PS.

That helpes quite a bit. I still can't get the app to retrieve data, but I am getting a more useful message in the log:
[Error in allocating a connection. Cause: Connection could not be allocated because: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied]
As you suggested, I removed the <default-resource-principal> stuff from sun-web.xml and modified it to match your example. Additionally, I changed the <res-ref-name> in web.xml from "jdbc/jdbc-simple" to "jdbc/oracle-dev".
The Connection Pool "Ping" from the Admin Console is successful with the user and password I have set in the parameters. (it fails if I change them, so I am pretty sure that is set up correctly) Is there another place I should check for user/pass information? Do I need to do anything to the samples/database.properties file?
By the way, this is the 4th quarter 2004 release of app server. Would it be beneficial to move to the Q1 2005 beta?
Many thanks for your help so far...

  • Non-SAP Source systems for gas and power trading operations

Hi Experts, I have this client who has no R/3 systems. They have few MS Access databases, Oracle systems annd MS SQL DB. I have seen some of the most commonly used tables in all the databases and doesn't look like there are not even a single InfoObject that is similar to any one in Business Content. Now this makes me feel that I need create everything from scratch. Can anybosy guide me on the best way to go about extracting data from this non-SAP systems. Right from connecting to these systems to extracting data in BI to creating some meaningful reports.
They do not have the concept of Master data here. All they have is Data in the MS Access databases.I need some assistance from experts here in how do I go about organizing this.

    hi,
The BW can be connected to Non-SAP data using DB or UD connect.
The data in Non-SAP source system is staged in form of tables.
You can extract the data using Data Source based on DB or UD connection.you can define new info objects and data flow which extracts the data. In DS description you can mention the Non-SAP source system tables from where you want to extract the data, after that u can mention the fields to be extracted in BW.
    regards,

  • Multiple Libraries - Authorization Question - For NON-iTune purchased music

Please help! The questions come at the end.
I have an extensive classical music iTunes library in AAC format that I ripped from CDs I've purchased over the past 20 years. NON of these were purchased from iTunes. (I have another library on my PC with other music, and I have purchased some iTunes songs for that library). I access one or the other by pressing Shift, etc. No problem.
Both my son and I listen to classical music, and I wanted to share this library with him by moving my classical iTunes Library to his computer. (I copied the entire folder structure from my PC to his, nearly 50 GB worth). So he now has 2 libraries on his computer. One (the classical library) and his own iTunes library.
He can access the classical library (hold down shift key, etc.), but gets a message to "AUTHORIZE THE FILE SOURCE" before listening to the music. So my questions:
++ Why does he need to authorize music from non-iTunes source? I'm not trying to illegally give him anything from iTunes. My family owns this classical CD collection.
++ If he does need to authorize the FILE SOURCE, I suppose he would use MY iTUNES account information to do so. Is this correct? Or should he use HIS account information?
++ And if he does use my account info, _will he retain his iTunes account setting for his other iTunes Library_? I.e., He would have a classical music library that's authorized by me (I guess my second computer?), and his regular library with his account information?
This sounds more complicated than it is (maybe it IS more complicated than I think (sic).
    Any help greatly appreciated.

I could be wrong, but if that's the exact message he's getting, it sounds more like a file permssions error in Windows rather than the typical iTunes authorization message which brings up an obvious request for an iTunes Store ID and password. I'd suggest he look at the Windows permissions for the folder and it's contents and see if perhaps he doesn't have the correct permissions to access that material.
    Hope this helps.

  • UltraNav version for non-IBM clone PC to run IBM Travel PS/2 Keyboard, 89P8500, SK-8840?

My beloved IBM T42, circa 2005, has been retired from work duties and soldiers on in limited duty at home. I have recently attempted to re-create the well-designed keyboard, particularly the Synaptics touchpad and the TrackPoint, for my office PC, which is a clone (but with 'name-brand' internals, an Intel motherboard and processor, Kingston RAM, OCZ SSD) running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, SP1.
So, for the princely sum of $35 I purchased a new keyboard, an IBM Part No. 89P8500 and IBM Model No. SK-8840. It's labeled IBM, not Lenovo. The keyboard's cord ends in two PS/2 plugs, one for the keyboard and one for the mouse, the latter I believe refers to the integrated Synaptics touchpad, and the integrated Trackpoint. My office PC has no PS/2 inputs, so I purchased a Ziotek PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse to USB Adapter (ZT1040444) to make the connection between the keyboard and the PC.
The keyboard does achieve basic functionality by simply plugging it into the PC through the Ziotek adapter. But the Synaptics touchpad and the TrackPoint are capable of considerably more functionality. I know this because on my T42 the touchpad and TrackPoint were controlled by UltraNav software, which created a tab in the Mouse Properties in Control Panel. There, many adjustments and customizations were possible.
But having spent more hours than I will admit to (yes, it's in double digits), I am still unable to achieve UltraNav levels of functionality. Worse, and even though the keyboard functions, if I open Control Panel, Mouse Properties an error message appears saying:
"Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver.
If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device Driver please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again.
Do you want to uninstall the Synaptics driver now?"
I select "No" and the Mouse Properties dialogue box opens, sans any indication of UltraNav or any functionality beyond the basic functions provided in Windows.
It finally dawned on me that the UltraNav software is IBM's proprietary version of Synaptics' generic touchpad / trackpoint driver. And it just doesn't want to and/or isn't going to work on my clone PC. I have literally tried dozens of USB and PS/2 drivers from Lenovo's website. The generic Synaptics driver from Synaptics' website imparts none of the UltraNav functionality, as best as I can tell.
My guess is that IBM probably didn't plan on selling enough of the now-priced-at-$35 keyboard (89P8500 / SK-8840) to merit going to the trouble and expense of preparing an UltraNav driver for non-IBM computers to run the thing. But, is there a version of UltraNav that will run on non-IBM/Lenovo PCs? I haven't found it.
The keyboard uses PS/2 and the Ziotek adapter, at least in theory, maps the PS/2 interface over to work with the USB interface. But is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit treating the Ziotek adapter-connected keyboard as a PS/2 device (which it is), or does the Ziotek adapter cause windows to treat the keyboard as a USB device? Thus, is the adapter's mapping over process so complete that the PS/2 device is now treated as a USB device? I have inquired with Ziotek and I am awaiting a response, which may never come.
I posted here in desperation. Please help, if you are able.
    Thank you,
    Dennis

IBM sourced their keyboards from another company for a long time, and that company not only still exists, but still sells the keyboard you're using (though for much more). Company is Unicomp. Website is pckeyboard.com. They probably support the keyvboard.
That said, the generic synaptics reference driver should work for the trackpad. Can't say the same for the trackpoint.

  • About Flash P2P live streaming from non-webcam sources

Hello, I am a university student. Our lab is attempting to work on a p2p live streaming using flash p2p features. The media source is not from a webcam but a file from a certain server, which is not directly supported by any of the 4 methods flash player offers(posting, direct routing , object replication, and multicast.) As some of the forum threads mentioned, our method is to use NetStream.publish() a stream and use send("callbackname", data)  to all subscribers that have joined in a NetGroup. So we can use p2p transmission. Now here are our questions:
    1. We know from MAX 2009 that flash p2p camera video multicasting implements pull-push mechanism inside which makes full use of p2p features like buffer map exchange. If we use NetStream.send() API to send non-webcam source data, will it also make use of this pull-push mechanism to spread data among all peers(subscribers) with proper data exchange?
    or more detailedly,
I saw the P2P Gaming Libs at flashrealtime.com. It uses DIRECT_CONNECTIONS when creating publish-used NetStream in order to send data with lowest latency. My question is if I do not use DIRECT_CONNECTIONS, than when the NetGroup grow large (1000), will those peers that are not direct neighbors to the publisher in the same group relay data to each other using pull-push via buffer map?
    2. I have written a sample app and use send() to deliver data only (NetStream.bufferTime = 0) without camera video and audio. When the publisher sends the data  in a "for()" stantence for 20 times, the subscribers can only receive about 8 of them. But when I set a timer and periodically send them(e.g., 500ms), the subscribers can receive them correctly. My questions are: Is the packet loss caused by UDP unreliability? Can this be solved by setting the NetStream.dataReliable = ture? Can this totally be solved by setting a timer? How to set the delaytime property in timer? Are all data sent are orderedly received?
I'm very appreciated if you can answer my questions? thanks.

    1. NetStream.send() data is delivered in the order it was sent, whether in client-server, DIRECT_CONNECTIONS, or multicast mode.
    2. the lowest latency will be achieved with DIRECT_CONNECTIONS.  however, that isn't scalable to large numbers of recipients.  the P2P multicast system trades low latency for scalability.
    3. there are no plans to support a natural NetStream streaming source that's not a camera/microphone.  Flash Media Server can perform that function.
    4. you should never need to implement "bitmap exchange"; the object replication system handles all the communication needed to accomplish its function. typically you will divide a file into segments, giving each one an index number. object replication uses ranges internally, so the index numbers should be contiguous.  nodes that have indices use NetGroup.addHaveObjects().  nodes that want indices they don't have use NetGroup.addWantObjects().  nodes that have objects will send them to nodes that want the objects.  when a node receives an object, it's automatically removed from its "want" set; once the node decides the object is acceptable, it adds it to its "have" set, at which point it can answer requests from other nodes who still "want" it.  eventually every node will have all the pieces and not want any.  for an example, please see Tom Krcha's articles on using object replication:
       http://www.flashrealtime.com/file-share-object-replication-flash-p2p/
       http://www.flashrealtime.com/video-on-demand-over-p2p-in-flash-player-101-with-object-repl ication/
    5. please see Tom Krcha's articles.  for VOD you will probably want to use the "LOWEST_FIRST" replication strategy, as that may allow you to start playing earlier.  for general file replication you'll get better sharing if you use RAREST_FIRST.

  • Automatic PR to PO conversion for non stock material

    Hi,
Can  Automatic PR to PO conversion be done for non stock material (with account assignment category and no material master).
We are presently doing only for stock material with transaction ME59N.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pratap

Some of the pre-requisites for automatic generation of PO from PR are
    1. The system selects only those requisitions for automatic PO generation for which the indicator Automatic purchase order has been set for both the material and the vendor.
    2. It can only generate purchase orders from requisitions to which a unique source of supply has already been assigned.
So material master is mandatory if you want to create PO automatically from PR and you need to activate this option both at vendor and material master.

  • "initial non-cumulative for non-cumulative values"  is not available in DTP (0AFMM_C02)

    Hi Experts,
We are working for BI implementation for AFS Industry,
when we are working on AFS specific inventory cube 0AFMM_C02 , we are facing stock mismatch problem
for AFS Stock initialization we are using the data source 2LIS_AF_STOCK_INITALIZATION instead of 2LIS_03_BX, this data source is specificly designed for AFS
when we are extracting the data using 2LIS_AF_STOCK_INITALIZATION for stock initialization and
2LIS_03_BF data source to load the Moments.
we compressed cube with Marker update for 2LIS_AF_STOCK_INITALIZATION data load(by deselecting the No marker update check box)
we compressed cube with No Marker update for 2LIS_03_BF historical data load(by selecting the No marker update check box)
we compressed cube with Marker update for 2LIS_03_BF Delta data load(by deselecting the No marker update check box)
Now we are facing stock mistach problem, we found reason for this
"initial non-cumulative for non-cumulative values" option is not available in DTP only Delta & Full options are available
and infopackage of  2LIS_AF_STOCK_INITALIZATION data source also has "Full update" instead of "Generate Intial Status"
Please let us know how can we get the "initial non-cumulative for non-cumulative values" option in the DTP level.

  • Target system install problem (SAPINST searching for Non unicode kernel)

    Hi,
I'm currently performing a unicode conversion (from 4.7 to EHP4). I am finished with the upgrade and I'm now in the unicode conversion part.
I have completed the export and selected unicode as the target system. I am done with source system uninstallation and I'm now installing the unicode target system.  I have selected unicode during the parameter selection (it's the default option anyway) but during the part where it will ask for the kernel DVD, it doesn't accept the path of my unicode kernel (and instead looks for the non-unicode kernel)

    Hi Markus,
Thanks for your response. This problem is now resolved. It turns out that there are some remaining files from the old /usr/sap/<> and /sapmnt/SID/exe that were not deleted yet (after uninstalling for non unicode system). I proceeded to delete again these files and ensure that there are no files from the non unicode system

  • JCA / JDBC Configured for non-XA Attempting XA Transaction Commit

I am attempting to create simple BPEL SOA composites in SOA 11.1.1.5 that use a DbAdapter to execute a stored procedure in an 11g database. The database task being performed only involves a single database and does not require transaction support. I have carefully stepped through the creation of the DataSource and JCA pointing through the DbAdapter to the JDBC DataSource so XA transaction support is disabled, the JCA pool sets the transaction mode to "No transaction" and the JCA pool uses the dataSource value to point to the JNDI name of the JDBC pool rather than the xADataSource value.
    Visually,
    DataSource definition:
    name = jdbc/myserviceDataSource
    driver = oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource
    url = jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbhost.myfirm.com:1521:GENERIC
    use XA DataSource = unchecked
    set XA timeout = unchecked
Keep XA connection until transaction complete = checked
keep connection after local transaction = checked
    JCA definition:
    name = eis/DB/myserviceDataSource
    dataSourceName = jdbc/myserviceDataSource
    xADataSourceName = (blank)
    platform class name = org.eclipse.persistence.platform.database.Oracle10Platform
Transaction | Transaction Support: no transaction
This configuration works on one sandbox server and I got it working in a second sandbox server. However, after deleting the JDBC and JCA pools to go through the process one more time to document the procedure on the second server, I am unable to get the configuration working again. The WebLogic domain appears to be resurrecting portions of an old configuration that still references the JNDI name of the JDBC pool in the xADataSourceName parameter. I have unpacked the DbAdapter.rar archive for the DbAdapter and verified the contents of the ./META-INF/weblogic-ra.xml file don't use the xADataSouceName parameter. The Deployment Plan for the DbAdapter (named DbAdapterPlan.xml in $SOA_HOME/soa/connectors ) also explicitly configures the JCA pool using the dataSourceName value leaving the xADataSourceName value blank.
However, executing the SOA service using this JCA connection results in this error:
java.sql.SQLException: Cannot call Connection.commit in distributed transaction.
Again, I know the theoretical answer to this question is to disable transactions in the JCA and JDBC configurations and don't use the xADataSourceName element of the JCA configuration to point to the JDBC pool. However, after validating those elements and restarting the pools or performing an Update on the DbAdapter deployment, WebLogic seems to still create connections through the JDBC pool with transactions enabled.
    Any suggestions?
Should I just completely undeploy the DbAdapter and redeploy it from the SOA binary installation directory? These are just lab machines right now so that's obviously not a good long term answer for production use but may help start over with refining a better procedure for doing this.

You should use a non-xa driver for your data source...
    From the weblogic docs...
    Configure Transaction Options
When you configure a JDBC data source using the Administration Console, WebLogic Server automatically selects specific transaction options based on the type of JDBC driver:
For XA drivers, the system automatically selects the Two-Phase Commit protocol for global transaction processing.
For non-XA drivers, local transactions are supported by definition, and WebLogic Server offers the following options ...
