Where and how can I see which datasources are assigned to a particular InfoSource?

Could you please elaborate?

  • BI 7.0: How to bring DataSource fields to InfoSource in design

We've replicated the generic datasource from R3 to BW and we have created an InfoSource with blank fields.   We remember on BW 3.x version that we could bring Datasource fields to InfoSource by clicking somewhere, but on BI 7.0, we are trying to do the same thing, but can't find some function to do this.  Then we try to right click the InfoSource and then select 'Create Transformation', and then to select the source system and the datasource, but of course we would get the error msg like "There are no fields in target TRCS InfoSource_Technical_Name".  Any idea on how to bring Datasource fields into the blank InfoSource on BI 7.0?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Instead of bringing the DS fields into a blank infosource, ideally, what you can do
is, you can create a new infosource based on your generic data source, which would make your process easy..

    Hi,
It is  recommend that you use an InfoSource if you want to connect a number of different DataSources to a target and the different DataSources have the same business rules.
In the transformation, you can align the format of the data in DataSource with the format of the data in the InfoSource.
The required business rules are applied in the subsequent transformation between the InfoSource and the target. You can make any changes to these rules centrally in this one transformation, as required.

  • Can there be more than one datasource to an Infosource

    Hi,
I am learning the SAP BW and this question could be very basic.
I know that there can be only one infosource assigned  to a datasource for each source system, but can an infosource have more than one datasource from different source systems?

Yes, you can have multiple datasource assignments that belong to the same source system or different systems.
DATASOURCE can only have 1 INFOSOURCE
    INFOSOURCE can have many DATASOURCES
    Good luck!

  • Joining two datasources using an InfoSource

    Hello Experts,
is it possoble to join two datasources (two database tables sharing an attribute) using an InfoSource as it works with two InfoSources and one ODS?
    Axel

In your source system, create a view in se38 with your tables. Then, still in your source system, go to t.c. SBIW and create a new DataSource with this view. Then go to your BW, replicate DataSources of your source system and activate.
I have not explained all the steps but is not a very dificult process, so i think you will not have problems.

  • How to join two DataSource in a single InfoSource

    Hello,
I have got two datasources which both share the same primary key (Field IDCO) and also have several individual fields. For example:
    Datasource 1:
    | IDCO | price |
    Datasource 2:
    | IDCO | amount |
Now I would like to join both datasources into a single InfoSource that should look like:
    | IDCO | amount | price |
In plain SQL I would do something like
    Select ... from datasource1 inner join datasource2 on datasource1.IDCO = datasource2.IDCO
Any ideas how this can be achieved be achieved in the Data Warehousing Workbench?
    Best Regards
    Christoph

Hi Christoph Außem, welcome to SDN world....
    Steps:
    1. Create a InfoSource with  |IDCO | price | amount -  InfoObjects. then map Datasource 1 with InfoSource here Mapping is like below..
    DataSource1-IDCO = InfoSource-IDCO
    DataSource1-Price  = InfoSource- price
EMPTY (NULL       )  = InfoSource- Amount
    DataSource2-IDCO = InfoSource-IDCO
    DataSource2-Amount  = InfoSource-Amount
EMPTY (NULL       )  = InfoSource- Price.
In this wasy you can map the fields and InfoObjects.
    Thanks

  • Datasource Vs Infosource in BI 7.0

    Hi,
I have a question .... and we doesn't know answer it.
In the new  BI version, I suppose that only exist DataSource ( rsa1--datasource).
The Infosource option is for the 3.X version( rsa1-infosurce )
    Is it correct ?
    Thanks a lot

    Supplementing others..
Infosource is used in nw2004s for below rationale
    <b>Dataflow using Infosource</b>
If you are using Multiple DS than would suggest using Infosource for better performance and central administration.
if you want to connect a number of different DataSources to a target and the different DataSources have the same business rules. In the transformation, you can align the format of the data in DataSource with the format of the data in the InfoSource. The required business rules are applied in the subsequent transformation between the InfoSource and the target. You can make any changes to these rules centrally in this one transformation, as required

  • Purchase Info record Datasource / Infosource (URGENT!!!)

    BW GURUS!
My client has an urgent need to extract their Purchase infor record in R/3 to the BW Environment.
I am still new to BW Application - My solution is creating a custom Datasource in R/3 using the Purchase infor record Master table in R/3, then assign my datasource to custom infosource that will be created in BW.
Question - is there an existing datasource / infosource for Purchase record info in R/3 and BW Business content I can use.
With my proposed solution I will end up creating custom info-objects to build the communication structure for my infosource - I am trying to avoid this route.
    Looking forward to your input.
    Thanks Guys,
       Frank Obasohan

    Thanks Ramki,
I located the info-object 0INFO_REC in my BW Business Content T-CODE rsorbct, I selected the info-object draged it to the right open panel, selected all its components and clicked on the "Install Icon" to activate the object, its still greg out (inactive).
How do I activate the object? what 'am I doing wrong

  • Infosources without Datasource in R/3 (HR Infocube  - 0PA_C01)

    Hi!
I have activated the cube Headcount and Personnel Actions (0PA_C01). In this infocube I have 3 Infosources:
Age in Years - 0AGE (Hierarchy)
    Country Key - 0COUNTRY (Hierarchy)
Capacity Utilization Level in % - 0PAYPCT_CHA (Hierarchy)
I can’t find their Datasource for these Infosources in R/3. In their documentation that I got from SAP Help, told me that these Infosources need a CVS File. Is there another way to do it, without using a CVS file using anther Datasource?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards
    Vic

    Hi Vic,
There is no standard datasources for uploading hierarchies on the mentioned characterstic.
Uploading from the CSV is the only option we have.
I think , you have seen the below link earlier !

  • Infosource and datasource connection

    Hi Experts,
In the BI 3.5 business content, what is the best way to decide which datasource connects to which infosource? For example if i were to install BI content for SD i have about 8 datasources and 20 infosources and 6 cubes only.
How can i setup a dataflow based on Bi content only?
Should i make a decision based on the fields i am interested in? Please educate me on this.
    Thanks
    K

    Hi Krishna,
Go to RSA1--->, right mouse show data flow you can double click the elements.
On the Source systems you can see the relation between DS and IS.
Also try table RSOLTPSOURCE - field OLTPSOURCE for datasource, field BASOSOURCE for infosource.using 'show data flow' as mentioned, click 'technical name on/off' to have the technical name displayed.
    hope this helps.

  • Two infosources for the same datasource.

    Hello,
I have a doubt and i need some help with it.
I have a datasource and two infosources conected with that datasource.
I also have two ODS and each one is filled with one infosource and ODS are equal.
    I fill ODS A with field type= A and ODS B with field type=B.
    Datasource has delta behaviour.
I created two infopackages, with init delta, and i put diferent values for field type in selection fields in both infopackages.
First, it's this possible? I'm having a error, first extraction runs well but when i execute the second infopackage, i 've an error, saying that the the first request must be set first.
    Any help?
    Thanks
    Maria

    hi maria ,
U can fill two ODS from the same datasource by using two Infopackages ,
in the scheduler screen u can do the necessary settings and trigger the infopackage.

  • Unable to find the content of data source into infosource

    Hi
I have successfully created a source system in BW and have activated the business contents but I am unable to find the data source contents in infosource. I have replicated the metadata also but uanble to get?  are there any steps to transfer the data from datasource to infosource.?

after the replication, you'll only see the datasources under the node datasources. you need to map a datasource with an infosource (3.5). in bi7 this is not necessary anymore...
but for these kind of basic questions, you should really search the forum before posting a thread.

  • What are the steps would liket take using AR,AP,GL Datasource in R/3

    Hi,
When i would like to use SAP content data source Like ,AR,AP,GL
data source what are all the master data need to activate for this.
Ex: for AR we need to activate the Customer master data
what abt AP,GL what are the master data need to be activated while using SAP content data source in R/3.

<i>What are the steps i need to do in source system?.First of all identify the data source and what are the master data need to be used for the data source like AP,AR,GL in R/3.</i>
Find out what Cubes, ODS's will be used  - > HELP.SAP using the datasource.
    Activate transaction datasources.
See Infosource Overview and activate relevant master datasources in RSA5 - ECC.
    Install content on BI side.
It doesnot matter what datasources you activate first, it is just a preferred way to load transaction data only after master data.
<i>What are all the masterdata need to activate before going to activate AR,AP,GL data source in R/3.</i>

  • The use of InfoSources in BI 7.0

    Hello everyone...
Is it still generally accepted practice to use InfoSources in BI 7.0?  What will its use be more of for in BI 7.0?  If it IS still needed in BI 7.0, should I define it on the datatarget?
    Thank you.
    Philips

    Hi Philips,
Infosource is not mandatory anymore. Scenarios for flexible infosource:
•A flexible infosource is necessary in order to use currency or unit conversion from the source datasource &#8594; define infosource as an intermediate structure
•You can use a flexible infosource as a uniform source for several targets; the infosource can be the target from different sources.
So we can use an InfoSource as an optional structure between a transformation and another transformation. This is necessary, for example, to consolidate several sources into several targets or to use InfoObject-based information.
Note: for ‘direct’ InfoSources (For master data updates), there is no difference between ‘old’ and ‘new’ infosource, i.e. you can define a transformation as well as transfer rules.
Please assign points if it is useful.
    Regards,
    Anil
