Datasource replication

Hi friends,
I have a generic datasource which i extended in the R/3 Dev side and have put all the required objects in a request and the request was successfully transported to the R/3 QA. Now i did a replication of datasource in BW dev and everything was fine in dev. How can i transfer the datasource changes from BW dev to QA dev? In my QA dev i still see the old data source. In order to refresh this, what r the steps i need to perform?

Hi Sriram,
Try this
RSA1-> Transport Connection -> SAP Transport
Under this folder you will find Object Types, Select Object types
Now in the adjacent column you will find all the Object types in the system. Expand ISFS (3.X Datasource) and select the Datasource that you want to replicate. This will be collected in the collected objects section.
Here you can select the Datasource , right click Display Object Directory Entry, Change Package etc.
Change and save it in a transport.

I deleted 0PROFIT_CTR_TEXT- Datasource, as it was showing some errors in transformations mapping, but again for installation purpose, when i search da same Datasource thru Business cntnt, it shows Object Not Found. I hv checked in RSA5/6,Here the DS is in Active version, but im nt able to Find the same in Business Content? So I hv thought of replicating again from Source system,please advice against this,,

Replication basically means making the timestamp of the DS same. Now lets say we have a DS x and y in R/3 in the same application component in which your DS is there. now if somebody made some changes to it but the changes are not yet moved intentionally might be becuase of any testing or some other reasons now if u replicate the ds in your application componet all the carried out changes will be replicated to the system where ever u are replicating.
If its dev system it might not have any impact but be sure to ask someone in any other system.
This is a case which can happen if this isnt the case u can go ahead and replicate

DataSource replication error

Hello experts,
when running a process chain I get an replication error.
it says
"..the DataSource 8Z_ODS_1 (its an ODS-Object) has a different timestamp in sourcesystem than in Business Information Warehouse ..."
I have no clue what this is supposed to mean!
any suggestions?

Hi Linda,
1. You can use the below program to activate.
RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL porgram (se38) -> give the infosource name and activate.
2. Or search the Infosource in RSA1 and go into the Tranfer rules and click on activate button.
If you do not have authorisation in your Quality or Production server for the above two steps, do the step 2 in Development. You will be prompted for a transport request creation. Create the TR and release it to the target server.

Limiting datasource replication only to 3.x format

Hi,
Is there anyway to limit the choosing of the relication format option (3.x format or new datasource format) by authorization?
I have raised an OSS but wanted to know if someone knows ways to do anything about it or not?

Hi,
when needed, you can indeed convert datasources from v3.5 to V7, and back, using transaction RSDS. Choose "with export". This "saves" the "other" version, and so it can be "restored" afterwards via RSDS again.
This is also true after DS replication from a sourcesystem, when the system asks whether you want the new replicated DS to be 3.X or V7. Either you choose, you can convert afterwards if needed.

Datasource replication if systems changes

Hi All,
I have a CRM system which is connected to one BI system
Say BW1---CW1 system.
Now CW1 system transports are moved to CW2.
So CW2 system is connected to BW2 now.
So now i am in BW2 system and then i am going to replicate the datasources so while doing so do i need to select the only option RSDS only right?or else do i need to select any other option like 3.x or some thing else?
I am sure just we will replicate and we will select RSDS option only,because we did the same way in CW1-BW1 as well,later in BI we migrated and then we make them as bw3.x to bi7 datasources.

If your system is upgaded to BI7 then you need to do RSDS only.After replicating some times the data sources can become ianctive you can use the following program to reactivate them.
RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL

Datasource replication required through the landscape

Hi folks,
Is it required to replicate datasources when transports are moved through the landscape? Is this the right sequence
1. Transport datasource to Q/P in ECC
2. Manually replicate datasource within Q/P in BW system (Is this step required/optional ?) If not, how do the datasources get here?
3. Transport BW objects (infoobjects, infocubes ...) within Q/P in BW system.

Your understanding is correct.
DS need to be replicated if there is any change. Like earlier you had 6 fields in the DS, you enhanced and added one more.
Now you need to replicate before you move BW transport.
For a new DS, if the BW transport contains Active Version of the DataSource, no need to replicate.

How to covert 7.0 datasource in 3.x

can I covert 7.0 datasources into 3x ?

If you choose the 'with export' option, the 3.x version of the DataSource will be saved and you can then restore it later in tcode RSDS. See the [SAP Help Portal|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/77712b896f3457e10000000a422035/content.htm] snippet in this.
This is also the case for DataSource replication from the source R3/ECC system. When asked whether you want to create the replicated DataSource in 3.x or 7.0, whichever you can choose the 3.x version and then convert to 7.0 with the 'with export' option.

Problem with Datasource activation!

Hello BW Gurus,
I was trying to load the data for Technical content cube and the load failed because of the datasource replication and time stamp problem.
what I did was, I went to SE38 and tried activating the datasource using RS_TRANSTRUE_ACTIVATE_ALL but its showing a error saying MASS GENERATION: NO VERSION FOR PSA TABLE /BIC/BI000..... for the infosource xxxxxx!
I searched for the SAP note and found the one (554257)which shows my problem and the note matches here: "the runtime object ABAP time stamp (ABSTAMP)". As per the note I went to display the time stamps of the extract structure runtime object via the 'Utilities -> Runtime object -> Display' menu option and could find out that the timestamp is not upto date!
your valuable suggestions are needed here:
Is there any way to activate the ABAP time stamp for the data source in production system? if so how to do that
otherwise what is the alternative option.
We upgraded the systems recently and the problem could be because of upgrade but is there anyother way doing this by not transporting the datasource??

re-activating the datasource will solve the time stamp problem. Try to reactivate the data source and transport it accordingly.

I want to learn about the Bi content datasources one by one of all areas in detailed.I searched all the sdn and help.sap.com but could not find the way i wanted.I found a how-to-guide pdf on inventory management which clearly explains about the inventory datasources.Similarly Is there any place where I can get complete info on all the datasources.I even searched for any books in sap press but found none.
If any one knows any book name or any pdf's or any links that can give the necessary information on the data sources, please share with me.I would be glad to get some help from any one of you.
I searched to my ability in the SDN and sap documentation found nothing to my requirement then only I am posting this message.

Extractors are one of the data retrieval mechanisms in the SAP source system.
DataSources for transferring data from SAP source systems are defined in the source system; the relevant information of the DataSources is copied to the BI system by replication. In this case one speaks of DataSource replication in the BI system.
You can run generic data extraction in the R/3 source system application areas such as LIS, CO-PA, FI-SL and HR. This is how LIS, for example, uses generic extraction to read info structures. DataSources are generated on the basis of these (individually) defined info structures.
Datasources in BI 7.0 & infosource (bw3.5) is Same.

Urgent!!Error While replicating Datasources!!

Could any help me how to resolve the the datasource replications error if it exceed length the field name & data length of the field..??
Error: Fieldlength too long for PSA fields
Error Field QUEST_RATINGFACTOR ( Position 24 ): Field name is longer than 16 characters

Hi,
Are you working on SRM as source, if the name length is more than 16 characters it is not required....you can reduce the characters in the backend SRM and again reload.
For invalid character you can go to RSMO and get into details tab to find out the actual invalid character. Sometimes small cap and capital can reasult in this issue.

Delta not working for datasource 0CRM_SRV_IBASE_TRAN

Hi All
We are facing problem with setting up delta for datasource 0CRM_SRV_IBASE_TRAN after transporting to QA system.
In QA System:
a.Initialization and Full load has worked successfully and it did fetch the
records.
b.But the newly created records are not coming through delta.
c.Moreover delta is working in Dev but not in QA environment. All the transports
have gone in successfully from Dev to QA system.
d.Only difference we found between dev & QA is: Datasource not listed in SMQ1(Outbound Queue) whereas it is listed in Dev System
We have already checked & ensure that following things are in order:
Source System Checks:
1.Init successfully in place. Entry present in RSA7.
2.SMW01 checked.
3.BWA5 & BWA7 checked.
4.GNRWB checked
5.No entry present in SMQ1 in QA system but its present in Dev system???
BW Checks:
6.Datasource replication done. Info source activated.
Would appreciate any help on this.

Hi Pramod,
SMQ1 will only show an entry, when there are available data for the delta queue, i.e. someone has made a change or added new data.So checking RSA7 and SMQ1 will give the same result, if RSA7 shows more than 0 entries.
The problem may be the init. What init did you do: an init with data, or an init without data, or an init with a filter. Experience with our CRM system tells me, best way to initialize any CRM data is to do a full data init (without filter) or a init without data (without filter). I wonder about the FULL load you mentioned ? When did you do it ?

Replicating Datasource in BI7 when there is data in PSA

Hi all,
We are working on CRM opportunities item data with 0CRM_OPPT_I datasource. There is a change is the mapping in BWA1 and we are moving the datasource to quality. Now as of BI7 if we replicate the datasource in quality the existing datasource in BI will become inactive and we need to activate the datasource once again. If the datasource contain PSA data in quality, how do we activate the datasource without impacting the existing data. Is there any different approach in BI7 with which we have to handle the replication of datasource and activation of datasource while moving across quality and production systems.

Tha datasource replication must be only made in DEV in Q you must transport the datasources....

Schedule replicate DataSource for background-job

Dear all,
I want to schedule replicate one DataSource just after automatically transporting today in the evening. Does anybody know the job (SE38) which is used for replicate DataSource so that I can execute this in the background later in the day?

You can capture the replication step in a transport request and release it wen ur R3 request is gone. See the links below.

Data extraction from sap r/3 to flatfile

hello Guru's
i am new to this feild. i got a requirement in such a way i have to extract data from feilds of different tables to flatfile.
( actual Scenario is we want to send data to sybase server through flatfile)

Hello Raja,
Here are some simple steps ...
When you want to load data from a flat file, there is no process of datasource replication. The datasource has to be created manually on the BW system itself. When creating this datasource you start from the InfoSource and assign the source system for flat file load. This is usually something like PC_FILE or FLATFILE.
Then you can start creating the datasource. You need to mention the field names in this datasource. Note that in your flat file, the sequence of fields must exactly match the sequence of fields in the datasource, else the data will be wrongly mapped.
On the same screen and tab you can also do a preview of the data that will be loaded. Click the preview button and put in the path of the file. Mention other details like header row, and number of rows to be displayed and then you will be able to judge if the data is being loaded correctly or not.
When loading the data, then file cannot be open else you will get an error message. Also to be able to schedule the flat file loads in process chains, the file cannot be on your PC. It has to be on the application server.
This is some basic info. Please post back if you need details on any aspect.

Error in Source system (Job is not going in to job log of CRM system)

We replicated datasources from CRM server in BI 7 server and they get replicated and are in Active version
All transactiond atasources which are 7.0 version are executing successfully, but the Datasources which are in 3.5 version i.e. Datasource for master data infoobject gives error while executing infopackage.
The error message is as follows:
"Diagnosis
     In the source system, there is no transfer structure available for
     InfoSource 0CRM_MKTMETA_ATTR .
System Response
     The data transfer is terminated.
Procedure
     In the Administrator Workbench, regenerate from this source system the
     transfer structure for InfoSource 0CRM_MKTMETA_ATTR ."
Also while executing the infopackage the job log in source system is not able to create the corresponding job.
Following action are already been taken:
1. Datasource replication
2. Confirmed that the Transfer Structure are avialable and are in ACTIVE state.

It seems some changes are taken place at Source System for the Mast.Data DS. Try to Recheck the Same at Source System -- Activate/Retranport the same.
BI side.
