Datasources in RSA5 & RSA6

RSA5 & RSA6
RSA5 is the place where are the Business Content (SAP Delivered) Data sources are available
RSA6 is the Place where all the Activated Business Content, Enhanced & Generic Data Sources are available
My understanding is If we Install and Activate a Business Content data sources then it will be available in RSA6u2026..
I had a data source in RSA6 which is enhanced to include ZZ fieldsu2026
But when I check the same data source in RSA5 there also I can see the ZZ fields in the extract structure of the Data source
Why is it appearing in RSA6 as well

So if i enhance the delivery content data source after activation in RSA6.....
The Changes (Enhancement) made to the extract structure in RSA6 will be repliacted to the content version (rsa5) as well
But in our system when i checked the enhanced content version data source for a particular ZZ field in extract structure
The settings in Data source Selection option is checked and HIDE option is unchecked
But when i check the same data source in RSA5 the HIDE option is checked
and also
What happens if i reinstall/reactivate the data source in RSA5 again.....
As the extractstructure is already enhanced with ZZ fields my newly installed Datasource (rsa6) will avaliable with ZZ fields or
SAp Delivered content will be installed

Hi Ratish,
See the following flow....
- Go to T-CODE RSA5, select your datasource, which we want to extract the data.
- Go to the T-CODE LBWE (Customizing LO-COCKPIT), deactivate your datasource first by clicking activate.
- Maintain your datasource means move what ever the fields we want from R/3 to BW those can be move from COMMUNICATION STRUCTURE to EXTRACT STRUCTURE when ever we are maintaining your datasource.
- Select your datasource (2LIS_11_VAHDR) here select the fields we want otherwise hide those fields and click on SAVE.
- Select update mode like serialized v3, unserialized v3, direct or queue.
- Activate your datasource by clicking inactive.
- Go to SBIW in order to load the data to a setup tables.
- Give name of the run, change date and time, and check the check box blocks all orders and then click on execute button. CONTINUE
- Go to BW side and replicate your datasource, assign transfer rules, create data target, create update rules, create infopackage and schedule your InfoPackage.

Unable to find the list of datasources in RSA5

Hi All,
I am not able to see the list of datasources in RSA5, Ours is a new system and we are in process of implementing the SD and MM modules.
I wanted to activate the datasources related to SD and MM. When I went into t-code RSA5 I am getting a message "No valid application component hierarchy exists".
Can you please let me know how can I get the datasources in RSA5.

Yes, You will get the hierarchy. SBIW is the main program where in you can do many things related to data source.

Package Name while activating Datasource in RSA5

Hi there, I want to know what Package Name or what to choose or how to create a package to transfer datasource from r3 to BW while activating Datasource in RSA5 for finance 0fi_gl_4 it ask for package name what to choose there. is that something basis team need to create to connect r3 to bw or I can create it as BI team

Hi:
Package name is not to connect to BW. That is used for Transporting your daa sources from R/3 DEV --> R/3 QAS.
To move Data Sources to BW, you call it Replication. Once you Activate Data Sources in R/3, go to BW, RSA1, Source Systems, select R/3 Source System, Replicate Data Sources. This will bring them to BW.
You have to do the same in BW QAS AFTER you transport R/3 Data SOurces from R/3 DEV --> R/3 QAS.
Coming to Packages in R/3, its just a grouping to move transports within R/3 System. Because the data sources are BW related, we usually have a package called ZBW. This is just a name, doesn't mean it moved them to BW.

Can't find the datasource from RSA5

Hi,
I am working with 0AFMM_C02. When I display the InfoProvider Characteristics tab I see only about 7 infoObjects on the left hand side, but when I displayed the InfoCube data content, I see more than 7 characteristics. When I tried to check the datasource 2AF_MM_INV_3 from RSA5, I couldn't find it. I alos tried RSA6 but it was not there.
How can I resolve this?

I just realized that I have not yet loaded the master data yet. I am trying to get the transaction data loaded and didn't remember to load the master data.
I have one question though, I checked my structure and there was data for the other InfoOjects on the R3 side,
You mean you checked in RSA3 right.
so would loading the master data will resolve this issue?
Try it and see.
 And that it is not necessary I have to see the physical data from the InfoCube data content becaue they are NV Attr.?
What happens is that just because you have fields in R.3 doesnot mean they will be in CUBE. Go to Transfer RUles and make sute all the fields from R/3 and mapped in InfoObjects in BW. THen, go to Update Rules and see if all the Infoobjects in InfoSOurce are infact mapped in Update Rules.
Then, let me know the differences. This is where some will be missed.
Loading Master Data before Transaction data is a good practice. many reasons including faster Transaction Data laods, data consistence if you are deriving Characteristics from Master Data, etc.
Also, if you have Nav. attributes in CUBE, you need to laod Master Data to find that info.
SO, try it and let me know if you are still missing data.

Hi,
I am extracting data from the following tables:
BSEG,BKPF,COEP,MBEW and EINA. I have been told to create a VIEW etc. for this inorder to take the fields in BI.
Can i use the data sources in RSA5 to take all the required data in BI?
or do I have to create a VIEW etc.?

hi,
using the business content extractors is the best option, but the data source in the business content is defined for pull data from different tables of R/3.
make sure before customizing it.
views can be used for cross applications and you need to define all the properties of data sources.

Activation of Datasource in RSA5

Hi ,
I am tyring to activate the datsource in RSA5, then i am getting the below message.
a. Generating the datasource " Dastsource name "
b. object request is currently locked by user " xxxxxxxx".
So anybody got the same message while activating the datsource.
Help me out.

It was locked by another user or by u (check if u opened any sessions with that DS)
goto SM12 and remove appropriate lock
and comback to RSA5 and activate DS

Problem in activating datasource in rsa5

hai when i tried to activate business content in rsa5 with package and request number it is displaying as changes to repository or cross client customizing are not permitted and when i went for help it is displaying as invalid call sequence for interfaces when recording changes,can you please tell how to rectify this.

Ya, I got that info basically am an ABAPer... i need to solve this issue. in table its length is 2k+ of type LCHAR. Does any one know how can i take the URL from table[am sure in actual, data won't be of length 2k+] and push in to my Info object of length 60 or... do you people know any other workaround.

SM62 - To create events
SM36/SM37 - create and monitor jobs
SE38- ABAP program
SE37 - function module
SE11/SE16 - check table entries
KEB0 in R/3 - For COPA
LB* in R/3 - For LO datasources
RSO2/RSA5/RSA6 in R/3 for datasources

The datasource present in RSA5 or RSA6 should be there in BI content.

Hi to all.
I want do extraction on datasources present in RSA6. Now I have observed that, that datasource is not there in BI content. I have checked for some other datsources and they were also not in BI content.
Now my question is that all the datasources present in RSA5 or RSA6 will be there in BI content or not? If not then how can I take them there?

Hi,
Replicate the Data sources into BIW after activation.And then select the source systems (tick mark) in BI content Activation scrren in BIW. And then drag and Drop the Transfer rules with data flow before.Now you can see that respective Datasources are also collected.

A/c to my understanding -- we use rsa6 to trensfer the datasources and rsa5 to check whether the ds is transffred r not ..

RSA5 --> To Install Data Sourcess from Bussiness Content
In this step, you transfer and activate the DataSources delivered by SAP as well as partner DataSources delivered in your own namespace where applicable.
RSA6 -->> Sub sequent process or Postprocessing of DataSources.
In this section, you find out how to subsequently process DataSources or application component hierarchies.
To adjust existing DataSources to your requirements, you edit them in this step and transport them from a test system into a productive system.
You can also use this procedure to post-process the application component hierarchy.

RSA5 DataSource Activation

Hi Experts,
I was trying activation of 0TCTAUTH Datasource from rsa5.
I clicked on it and pressed Activate Datasource.
It got activated.I can see the records in rsa3.But when I replicate it, I cant see the Datasource in BW.
Am i missing any step?

1).RSA5 0TCTAUTH Datasource ACTIVATE the dataosurce.
2).RSA6 which is post processing Data Sources,select 0TCTAUTH Datasource and press trasport button to release from source system.
3)RSA3 which was extractor checkor to check the data
In BW,
1).Goto RSA1 >Select Source System>and say replicate meta data/data source --->> after you gets msgs states like
all tree data structures are refreshed in bw.
2)refresh the screen in BW side and i thk you can find the your 0TCTAUTH Datasource from source system .

Hi Experts,
i have newly activated 0coorder_text in r/3 dev and i have replicated in dev bw system , when i am trying to activate it using
RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL it says "There is no DataSource with these attributes "

Hi,
Just look at following points
1. You have activated datasource through RSA5
2. iTS available in RSA6
3. You can extract data through RSA3 and it returns some data in case available in Dev
4. Just check whether replication done correctky within BI system..You are having sufficient authorisations.check SU53 post that..
5. Just double click on datasource ,change it and then activate same and save in BW.
6. see now if you can run below transaction and it runs correctly..
