Datawarehouse LifeCycle?

Hi All,
just i want to confirm my understanding in Datawarehousing?
1-Datawarehouse system will have a group of entities , each entity is a star schema and denormalized
we use discoverer to build reports from those schemas
2-discoverer can be used also to build reports for OLTP not only Datawarhouse
3-the typical DataWarehouse system is one that is populated on a daily/weekly/... basis using
(Oracle Warehouse Builder ), if not what OWB used for?
4-Datawarehouse system used MOSTLY by discoverer for query , usually no other
interfaces (like oracle forms) use it
am i missing any other points , or am i wrong in any point?
Thanks a lot....

1-Datawarehouse system will have a group of entities
, each entity is a star schema and denormalized
we use discoverer to build reports from those
schemasThere are three types actually, star, snowflake, and a combination of star and snowflake (i am missing the name)
2-discoverer can be used also to build reports for
OLTP not only DatawarhouseDiscoverer is a tool to build ad-hoc queries, so it might be any type of database.
3-the typical DataWarehouse system is one that is
populated on a daily/weekly/... basis using
(Oracle Warehouse Builder ), if not what OWB used
for?Yes, but there are other popular products available in the market to do the same job.
4-Datawarehouse system used MOSTLY by discoverer for
query , usually no other
interfaces (like oracle forms) use it
With Oracle Forms/Reports, your queries are mostly rigid. Discoverer gives you an oppurtunity to create ad-hoc queries.

  • Help needed for hash_area_size setting for Datawarehouse environment

We have an Oracle 10g Datawarehousing environment , running on 3 - node RAC
with 16 GB RAM & 4 CPUs each and roughly we have 200 users and night jobs running on this D/W .
We find that query performance of all ETL Processes & joins are quite slow .
How much should we increase the value of hash_area_size parameter for this Datawarehouse environment ? This is a Production database, with Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.5.0.
We use OWB 10g Tool for this D/W and we need to change the hash_area_size to increase the performance of the ETL Processes.
This is the Oracle init parameter settings used, as shown below : -
    Kindly suggest ,
    Thanks & best regards ,

  • Need help to implement datamart or datawarehouse

    Hi all,
we want to improve our reporting activities, we have 3 production and relational oracle databases and we want to elaborate 1 database as reporting database with historized and aggregated data responding to our reporting needs.
The database we are using are oracle database 10g.
actually we still are doing query to retrieve informations from databases for reporting purpose, but fropm inetrnet search i know that we can implement datamart or datawarehouse to group all aggregated information for reporting.
The information i need are: is there a tools in Oracle for Datawarehousing, Is Oracle Warehouse Builder is the right tools as the sources of our data are all from Oracle database and some flat files.
Could yo advise what i'm going to use for that kind of reporting needs, can i use Oracle warehosue builder to develop ETl ...
Do i need license to use Oracle Warehose Builder
    Thanks you for your help.

For OWB and Database and Datawarehouse , I would recomend the Oracle ' Documentation
    http://www.oracle.sh.cn/nav/portal_6.htm
Then for tutirials check this (Database and OWB)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/start/index.html
    For OBIEE
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/index.htm
What is the meaning of OBIEE is it Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprsie EditionYes

  • What/Where is the Value Lifecycle Manager (VLM)

What/Where is the Value Lifecycle Manager (VLM)
I was just reviewing an ASUG presentation from Soledad Alvarado Ganzhorn of SAP NetWeaver Product Management at SAP Labs. It describes a value lifecycle manager tool that includes:
Value Discovery content includes: Interview Questions, Pain Points, Best Practices, Solution Enablers, Value Drivers & KPI's, and Data Requests
A Knowledge Management Platform – Retrieve and Enter content
A Highly Flexible and Customizable Business Case Building and Reporting Platform
Used by Value Engineers, Solution Engineers, ISG, Partners and others
Is anyone aware if SAP is using this tool already? Will customers get access to it? This sounds like a replacement for the business case builder which I haven't seen either. It would be nice if customers had access to these sorts of discovery tools. Since we don't utilize SAP consulting, we are often not able to access this content as we initiate new initiatives. It would be nice to have access as it seems like we are internally selling their software for them.

The tool is available. It is at the following URL:
    https://sapvalueengineering.com/VLM2/client.page
SAP has nominated select Partners that have access to the tool. You can probably check with the SAP partner relationship manager in your organization to see if you have access to this tool.

  • LifeCycle Manager: The kind 'Note' does not exist in the CMS

    Hi there,
I'm trying to promote a Crystal Report from one relatively fresh XI 3.1 environment to another fresh XI 3.1 environment (TEST to PROD) using LifeCycle Manager, and for this report, which has no dependencies, I get the following error when I do a Test Promote or actual Promote:
Commit Status=Commit attempted and failed, Promotion Status=Failure : com.businessobjects.lcm.utilities.LCMException: com.businessobjects.sdk.biar.exception.XSDException$UnknownKindException: The kind 'Note' does not exist in the CMS. (FWM 04030)
Has anyone encountered anything similar to this? I can't find any InfoObject that logically relates to the type/kind 'Note'. Perhaps it has to do with discussions?
    Thanks,
    Allan

    Hi,
Can you try promoting it with the security option enabled.
Based on the error condition it seems that the discussion plugin does not exist in the destination system.

  • I still can't get an expandable text field working in LifeCycle.... Please Help.

I have worked through several of the questions and answers and have tried to follow but they still dont work. Could I ask if someone could look at my form, fix it for me and then I would be able to see what they done? Its a lot to ask but it would be so much simpler than someone saying do this and then I miss to do something.
I could send a pdf form that has two  "need to be expandable". In Acrobat XI.  Once I see how you did it, I could work on the rest that I have to do.
What I have noticed so far is.
    1. I open a PDF form (2 page) in Lifecycle and change it to an interactive with flowable layout
2.I click on the text field object I want to change and select multi-line and then wrap it in a flowable subform. This starts at start of page 2. I have tried adding all the rest of fields etc to this subform but it doesnt work.
    3. If I try selecting ALl and wrapping in a subform and make it flowable....it inserts everything on page 1.
Someone really needs to see my form. I think my problem is....it still tries to lock everything into the named pages.
Again, asking for a lot but any help would be fantastic.
I have watched videos on this
I have read some great replies to others with same problem   BUT it just wont work.
email me: [email protected] and I can send the actual form. I have worked for MANY days on this and am done in.
    thanks for any help.

    Hello there, Tearza.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great recommendations for contacting Apple Support if you are unable to respond to your security questions for access to your account:
Apple ID: All about Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5665
Particularly useful information is provided in this section:
What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
If you forgot the answers to your security questions, try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you're not sure you remember the answers. If you're confident that you can't remember them, try one of the following:
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID password, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password, contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
Note: If you forgot your password and answer your security questions incorrectly too many times in a row, you will be unable to try to answer your security questions for a period of time. During that time, you will not be able to reset your password and will not have access to your account.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • How can I implement a real time datawarehouse

Hi, I'm a little lost here but I want to know how can I implement a real time datawarehouse in sql server, I don't know if it is only to make the extraction process the shortest time possible.
    Thank you

    Hi Mega15,
I agree with everything Seif and Louw said, but I'd like to add that if you are using SQL Server 2012 or 2014 and you want to use DirectQuery or ROLAP mode (depending on what SSAS mode are you using, tabular or multidimensional) you may be interested on
using columnar indexes on your base tables.
Analytical and aggregated queries will take GREAT advantage from these indexes, they will perform much better than with traditional B-Tree indexes in most of your scenarios.
    Regards.
    Pau.

Even if it is legal, have you tried moving them out of there (just to pinpoint a possible bug since the stacktrace indicates a wait on a jar file)?Indeed. If that clears up the issue it is good information to put in a JSF bug report (which may even cascade to the Glassfish level).
Putting resources in a jar file is only really useful when you want to share those resources among different web applications, which should be a rare case. Even when it happens I would probably still choose to simply copy the resources so they are individually managed and you don't get unnecessary dependencies between applications. Just because something is technically possible doesn't make it a good idea.

  • Adding LifeCycle Reader Extensions to a PDF Form created in Acrobat Pro 6

    HELP!!!!
I have already created a form in Acrobat PRO 6.0, but I am running into the issue where my clients who don't have Acrobat STD/PRO can not enter their data and then save the PDF form as a copy and email it back to me with the data included. I understand that this LifeCycle Reader Extensions allows for such a result, but I have not clue how to add this funtionality to my already created PDF?!? I have downloaded the trial version Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1 (which appears to have full functionality for only 60 days)in hopes to just add this capability, but I am tripping over my own feet trying to figure this out.
If anyone could provide some guidance...I would totally appreciate it. I am trying to get away from the paper piles (as i'm sure we all are) and it is such a tease to see the demo documents from the Adobe site actually do what I am trying to do!!! :)
Thanks in advance for any advice/guidance anyone can give.
    Cheers!

    >. I understand that this LifeCycle Reader Extensions allows for such a result
    That's correct.
    >but I have not clue how to add this funtionality to my already created PDF?!?
LiveCycle Reader Extensions is a product. You buy it. Note that the
price is "on application" and varies with your company's needs, but is
typically either tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is to
offset the "lost sales" of Acrobat which people would otherwise have
    to buy to save forms.
    > I have downloaded the trial version Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1 (which appears to have full functionality for only 60 days)in hopes to just add this capability
There are many products with LiveCycle in the name from Adobe. That's
    a different one.

  • PDF Created in LifeCycle 7.0 does not save as a PDF. Can this happen?

    Hello,
I've recently created a PDF document in Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.0 to keep my office organized.  I chose to make a fillable document because doing this in Word would be quite a hassle.
When the PDF is opened in Adobe Reader it only allows me 2 options:  1. to print the document and 2. to e-mail the document.  These options are nice, but I'd really like to save the file so that I can return to it and make updates.
    Is this even possible?

Reader can't save a filled-in form unless it is reader-extended.  You can do this, subject to 500 user limits that you can see in the EULA, with the reader-extensions capability that is in Acrobat Pro in versions 8-10.  Since I assume that you got designer with Acrobat, this should be pretty easy to find.  If you have problems or are working with another Acrobat version, just note that in yor reply to the post.
