  • Business Explorer and Business Intelligence Roles

Can someone answer the following questions about these 2 roles:
    Business Explorer
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase
    Business Intelligence
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.bi_showcase
It appears the BI Role above has the Business Planning feature, but Business Explorer does not.  Other than this, can someone explain the difference and why 2 seperate roles?
Also, if we give users the Business Explorer role, we do not want them to see the Bex Broadcasting tab that comes by default.  Is the only way to avoid this is create a copy of this standard delivered ivew (contained in the Business Explorer Role) and remove this tab?
Can anyone share thoughts or experience with these 2 different roles and modifying?
    Thanks,  Mark.

Business Explorer role is from 3.5 and BI role is new in 04s.
You will have to create the copy and remove the unwanted iViews from the new role.
You can set permissions at iView level (permission to specfc users for broadcaster iView) but it will be hard maintaining it.

  • Difference between charts in Excel and Business Intelligence

Hi, i work with Desktop Intelligence 11.5.0.0
When i work with Excelfiles as a source for a report with charts i get different results from time to time.
When i use 3 rows and 10 columns (can be any other number of course) where the first row are the columnheaders
and i turn this into a simple bar chart i should get 10 pairs of bars.
Instead i get 2 pairs of 10 bars.
Anyone any idea as what the possible reasons to this phenomenon could be?
(i would have attached an example, but i can't fins this option here?)

  • Business Rules and Business Intelligence in Java CAPS 6

    Dear All,
    I have two doubts.
    1. Is there any way to add a Business Rule component and write Business rules in Java CAPS 6? As you may know, this is possible through eInsight in JCAPS 5.1.2.
Is this feature readily available in Java CAPS 6? If yes, can you please let me know where it is?
    2. Are there any Business Intelligence tools in Java CAPS 6? If yes, what all things we can do with that?
    With warm regards,
    Sree.

    Sree,
It sounds like you are talking about a Rules Engine - not necessarily a Business Process Manager..
Also it depends on what you mean with "rule".
The approach I mentioned previously about IDS-Scheer's Aris meant that a Business Process is modelled in Aris - that is the focus is on the business developer. However the actual implementation of the business process would need to be developed by a Developer. Likewise if a change is performed in the Business Process it would need to be retrofit into CAPS for implementation.
When it comes to Rules Engines, Sun has a partnership with Yasu. Yasu have implemented their Rules Engine as a JBI SE, which would work with the JBI part of CAPS6, OpenESB or Glassfish ESB. More infor can be found at:: http://www.businesswireindia.com/PressRelease.asp?b2mid=12735.
I am not aware of any explicit "business intelligence" functionality in the CAPS -suite.. Looking at the Jasper Suite however, the CAPS suite does have ETL functionality, no built in reporting, but a Master Data Management System (http://developers.sun.com/docs/javacaps/products/sun-mdm-suite.jsp), which I belive could assist decently when it comes to data quality and data source prioritization concerns.
When it comes to Jaspersoft there are examples of how to build a CAPS6 JBI BAM solution using Jaspersoft's IReport (Netbeans Plugin), which in turn uses JasperReports.

  • Tokenization and Business Intelligence reports....

    Hello Gurus,
I am kind of stuck trying to find a solution how can one deploy a tokenization architecture and yet make use of it in building Business Intelligence reports. Basically the model could be described as follows:
I two databases, the first is database "A" that contains the actual and business data. The second database is database "B", this one holds tokens that corresponds to the business data on database "A". In this model the reporting server is not directly connected to the data warehousing database directly. The business data gets propagated to the BI server, passing through the tokenization database which has the direct connection to the BI server.
I am basically stuck finding how can requests propagated within this three tier architecture seamlessly. A typical request is to be submitted by the BI report, the report sends the request to the tokenization databse. From the point of the tokenization database point of view, upon receiving the request from the report the tokenized database resolves the request in order to retrieve the business data from the data warehouse and sends it back to the report in order to appear in the form desired.
I would be grateful if anyone would be able to propose a solution for how this seamless connection between the BI server and DW is to be done passing through the tokenization server.
    Thanks in advance......

Business Explorer role is from 3.5 and BI role is new in 04s.
You will have to create the copy and remove the unwanted iViews from the new role.

  • Can Oracle Apps OFA and Business Intelligence Suite be integrated?

    Hi,
Is it possible to integrate Oracle Applications' "Oracle Financial Analyzer" and "Oracle Business Intelligence Suite" into Oracle Portal at all?
I know they are all web enabled products using HTML, Disco viewer and Oracle Reports, and I'm pretty certain I've seen a demo of OBIS working from Portal already somewhere.
I want to put Larry's Daily Business Close into practice!!
I need an urgent answer on this please...
    John

Hi I looked at this last year with the add of an Oracle Express consultant in the UK, we had an express 6.3 implementation of OFA and 1.0.2.2 of 9iAS. The problem was how get a dynamic implemention OFA within a portlet. At the time the only conclusion was to host the web enabled OFA within an iFrame portlet, this however had its own problems due to the timeout settings within Express Server causing hanging sessions, requiring administrator rectification and the user having to close and restart the portal session. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT. It may be implementable now but I doubt it.

  • Need help with ADF and Business Intelligence BI integration

    Hi All,
    I am using JDev 11.1.1.6.0.
I am trying to integrate BI Dashboard into my ADF application.
The BI Dashboard that I am integrating includes prompts, and using the prompt value, the table inside the dashboard is filtered. So, when I drag and drop the dashboard into the page, it asks me the the prompt value with Dashboard Prompts dialog.
The problem is that even though I entered value into the prompt value (Value 1, Value 2) in the dialog, the table is not filtered. It's like it is not using the value that I entered.
I also tried to bind the prompt value (in the dialog box) with the attribute binding in my page. But it's also not working.
Could you please help me with this issue? Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    cmoster

I have not done this myself , but thought that some tips here might help you -

    Hi,
I have installed succesfulyy the oracle database and after that i have installed RCU and it got installed sucessfully, now i want to know where does the schemas reside in oracle database and how to view the schemas with out installing the obiee?
    Thanks,

After running the RCU succesfully, you should be able to login into the database with an account that has sysadmin privileges and browse the objects in different schemas. Not sure if that is what you are asking for? Refer to this documentation to get more information on the scehams: ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/bi.1111/e10539/c3_requrmnts.htm#CIHCFEAC )

    Giri

    Hi
I agree that if we have lot of FMS then sytem will get slow, but this is main req. and my condition is like this as followos:
For item X - vendor A - price is 100 and Payment terms is 60 days and lead time is 1 weak.
vendor B - price is 90 and Payment terms is 30 days and lead time is 1 weak.
vendor c - price is 110 and Payment terms is 45 days and lead time is 2 weak.
Atleast i have to get this details in PO itself. then my client will decide to which vendor he has to use..
If system automatically recomonds this vendor for this item it will be much better.

  • Diff b/w Data warehouse and Business Warehouse

    Hi all,
what is the Diff b/w Data warehouse and Business Warehouse?

    hi..
The diferrence between Datawarehousing and Business Warehouse are as follows.
DataWarehousing is the concept and BIW is a tool that uses this concept in Business applicaitons.
DataWarehousing allows you to analyze tons of data (millions and millions of records of data) in a convinent and optimum way, it is called BIW when applied to Business applications like analyzing the sales of a company.
Advantages- Consedering the volume of business data, BIW allows you to make decisions faster, I mean you can analyze data faster. Support for multiple languges easy to use and so on.

That might help answer this question.
If you want to extract data out of JDEdwards environment into a data warehouse then you should be able to use Oracle Data Integrator, or if you have an Oracle database as your data warehouse platform you could also use Warehouse Builder, to perform the ETL for you at which point you could then use any or all of the Oracle Business Intelligence products to create your reports.

  • While back up and restoring the business intelligence site collection in sharepoint 2010

    Hi,
i am trying to take backup of business intelligence site collection from one sharepoint server and restoring it to the 2nd sharepoint server, backup and restore successfully completed.i have configured all the performance point services on new server also.
but still i am getting below error:-
An exception occurred while rendering a Web control. The following diagnostic information might help to determine the cause of this problem: Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.BpmException: The filter no longer exists or you do not have permission
to view it. PerformancePoint Services error code 20700.
Can anybody suggest me how to resolve these error.
And the dashboard is looking like below:-

    Hey Surbi
I'm facing the same issue, actually restored a backup of the BI site collection into a different web app (on the same server) but get the same errors as you!
Looking into it the connection to the report or filter (whatever artefact it is) needs to be refreshed so technically the report doesn't exist as far as the performance web part is concerned!
However when I re-attached the web part to the filter or report I got a different error... 'This data source no longer exists'
So basically I found I had to re-create the reports and filters etc in Dashboard Designer... to re-create the dashboards. I did one page and don't want to spend months re-doing them!
Anyone come up with a way of preserving the web parts references to performance point items and the items connections to their data source in a restore of a site collection?

  • Business Intelligence and Analysis capabilities on XML content

On page 99 of Oracle XML DB Basic Demonstration pdf doc it si said: "Even though Business Intelligence, such as rollup and cube, are not XML aware they are able to process XML content exposed through a relational view"
is this true ? if so, how can i create a cube and/or
dimension from XML content exposed through a relational view ?
Unfortunately, Oracle 9i does not allow me to build materialzed views from XML content (Oracle objects)
    Thanks in advance,

The intention of the documentation maybe that anything you can query using SQL, you can expose as XML. For instance, you could create an analytic workspace, expose it through views, query the views through SQL, and return the results as XML.
