Date and Battery icons playing up?

Hi all --
Have an annoying date and battery icon inconsistency - maybe its a recurring prob. for others, but havent been able to find the answer on the boards.
After opening the P.B. from standby, the time shown is the time I put P.B. to sleep. About five seconds later it resets itself to the current time. Last time this happened, I started getting kernel panics after not rectifying the prob. (doubtful its related) - all was fixed with a PRAM / PMU / NVRAM zap. have tried PRAM-ing again, but no change to time delay. (havent attempted PMU & NVRAM unless necess.)
The battery icon has also been showing incorrect usage 'time left' - until i switch between the 'percentage' and 'time' options in the battery icon drop down menu.
Is zapping the PMU / NVRAM / PMU the correct way to approach a fix for this?
Am I close?

Generally, letting the phone completely discharge and then charging to 100% helps with this. If not, a Reset, and then a Restore if that doesn't work.

Since few days iPhone 4 suddenly uses huge amount of data and battery, how to find out which App is guilty?

Hi Community,
since Friday my iPhone 4 startet using huge amounts of mobile data and rapidly wastes battery lifetime (50% in 3 hous!) It also gets quite warm even when I don't use it at all.
I suspect an app does this, because in flight mode battery is ok.
How do I find out which app is to blame without having to uninstall all apps?

Computer won't sleep when lid shut and battery icon not showing and not charging

hello, I've just come back from holiday and went to turn on my mac air that was sitting at home, and it was flat so i put it on the charge and today i see that the light was still orange and then i notice that there is no battery icon and when I'm at the password stage to log into my account there is a black cross over the battery icon and then once logged on it disappears. And also when the lid is shut, nothing happens the light stays on the apple logo and the laptop doesn't sleep. also the lights for the key board aren't turning on, please help

Lost Wifi and Battery icons at top of screen

Hi,
Post mirroring a tv show on my Mac Air i have lost the icons at the top right of my screen.
The spaces still function and both the percentage (not battery icon) and time both still appear.
All the other icons appear as blank spaces.
please help!!
I have also noticed the icons in my brower window are missing. only their blank tabs remain

Floating Date and Time icon is gone in Leopard

This may seem like a trivial matter, but under Tiger I was able to have the date and time "Calendar and Clock" Icon on the desktop. It was handy to look at quickly for reference. Under Leopard, I can't seem to get it back. I can have date and time in the menubar, but not the floating icon on the desktop. Did they drop this idea in Leopard?

Ipod stuck on dead icon and battery icon.

Alright so I have an ipod that im about to give up on. when i try to turn it on the apple logo will appear and then it will go to the dead ipod icon. If it is plugged into my computer the battery icon will then pop up but it doesn't move, its stuck on being low.( which i have read is a sign that the ipod needs to be charged.) But the thing is ive had it plugged into my computer for at least a couple hours and the same thing keeps happening.
it is also not being recongized by my computer.
when i plug it into the wall adapter it just keeps cycling through the apple logo and the dead ipod logo.
I also can not get it to start up in disk mode.
any advice?

well, if this is any help, i have managed to get it into disk mode a few times now and actually be recongized on my computer. but then while trying to restore it is shows an error number 1415.

MP3's Added to Ipod get classified as "Other Data" and cannot be played

Evening Folks,
Currently when i hook up my Ipod to my computer and place music from my Itunes onto my Ipod they will show up under Music and register as being placed on the Ipod.
When i Eject the Ipod from my computer and go to access the music files on the Ipod itself they are no where to be found.
Afterward, when i hook the Ipod back up to the computer the files will be shown to be Other Data and will not show up in any of the accessible menu's thorough Itunes... however the space all the music took up is all correctly labeled.
Ive attempted the regular Restore and Reset options and this has not solved the problems unfortunately... besides sending the Ipod in for repair im at a loss and hope that someone on here has gone through a similar issue and will be able to help out.

Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Sounds like the library database on the iPod is corrupt in some fashion. Since restoring the normal way doesn't seem to help, try Erase your iPod - The Super Fix for most iPod Problems. Basically a low level format of the iPod’s hard drive to get around whatever problems are stopping iTunes from restoring it properly.

Iphone 5 using burning data and battery

I have an Iphone 5 which uses abnormal amounts of data.
even with no programs running in the background it uses around 1 mb pr second.
this is monitored in an app.
the phone is hot and the battery goes from full to empty withing 5-6 hours.
using the monitor I can see it counting always, if it is connected to wifi that is being used, if not it uses 3G..
just yesterday over 500mb was used on 3G, thats in 1 day, in addition to this over 1.5GB was used on wifi...
Weird thing is that i switched from Iphone 4 to this one for the same problem.
I cannot see how this can be a sw issue since apps are not allowed to use data if the phone is not in use after 20 mins...
Anyone else experience this??

IOS 6.1.3 draining data and battery. Help!!!

New update (6.1.3) drains battery twice as fast and is draining data, which is going to cost me a lot in overages!!! First month with an apple phone turning out disastrous!

iOS does not drain data. Either an email is stuck in the outbox constantly trying to send or an app is constantly downloading/sending data.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Just updated to 7.1 and now open some apps and cannot seethe entire screen because the iPad, time n battery icons are covering top of screen.

I tried what you said but it still didn't help.
It only affects some of my apps other apps are fine.
For some reason in some of my apps the iPad, time and battery icons get bigger on the top of my screen so I can't see the top of the app page which effects some of the games and applications.
Is there any way to turn these icons off on the top of the screen?

I cannot access dock, no desktop, time or battery icons?!!!

My laptop is only 3.5 years old. Normally whenever I'm informed there's no space on my hard-drive eventually I copy things onto an external hard-drive. I hadn't got round to doing this last time this message came up. The next day I turned on my laptop, the dock isn't there, my desktop is blue with no files on it apart from my stickies, the time and battery icon at the top right aren't there. I have tried hiding and making the dock visible again to no avail. Also If I delete a sticky, next time I turn my laptop on it's back.
I can plug my external hard-drive in and access things from there, and I can open Safari from 'recent items' as the icons on the top left are visible, but I cannot open finder. No Apple app's work, itunes, facetime etc again accessed through 'recent items'

When you start in SafeBoot, do you have more access to the desktop?
Booting into this should use less system resources and perhaps may
allow you to look into Console Utility and others, including Disk Utility
as the running system sees it. Logs in Console should tell you details.
Maybe too many.
Do you have a current backup of everything on the Mac's hard disk drive?
I'd suspect the internal HDD may be failing, as it would be about time.
A few years of moderate use, and one that has survived that long is due.
You may be able to boot the computer so as to see Recovery and run
OS X Utilities from there to use Disk Utility on the computer's HDD with
it unmounted. This could be OK to verify, and repair the hard drive.
Be careful to not erase the hard drive from this version of Disk Utility.
Even with a Time Machine backup, you'd still be best to have another
external hard disk drive with its own power supply, capable of support
to a Clone; a bootable complete copy of your Mac's HDD & system.
Depending on what OS X version and MacBook specs, the direction
you may take could vary. This information is basic to a reply...

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Gnome battery icon and 'Could not change DPMS mode'

I run my Arch with latest Gnome (3.2.1) and lately, my battery icon disappeared. Then, after some reboot it showed again (without changes to configuration, packages etc), and now its gone again, for good it seems.

Ok, I reinstalled gdm, added my user to the video group and so far it seems to be working properly, so thank you very much.
Now I just need to see if it will stick that way, since it seems to come and go somewhat randomly.
And btw, I use the presentation mode shell extension, but disabling it did not have any effect.
EDIT:
Ok, it seems the source of the problem was this little addon to /etc/gdm/Init/Default, that I used to launch synergy in GDM:
/usr/bin/killall synergyc
while [ $(pgrep -x synergyc) ]; do sleep 0.1; done
/usr/bin/synergyc 192.168.0.2
Since synergy controls the display power state, it would add up.
