Date and time embedded in DV movie: how to get it into iMovie?

Hi,
I've been trying to find an answer to this question using Google, but was not succesful, so here goes.
I am a fairly new Mac user (yup, I moved over from The Dark Side, at least when at home). Last year, I made a family movie using Ulead VideoStudio. For my workflow, I depended heavily on the date & time stamps that are embedded in the DV movies captured into Ulead from my Sony Handycam.
Now, with iMovie, in the imports that I moved over from my Windows machine all get the date and timestamp from the files.
Is there a way to get the embedded date & timestamps from the DV movies? If iMovie can't do it, can Final Cut Express?

Hi,
After some heavy Googling and fiddling, I've solved my problem:
- Downloaded and ran DVdate (http://paul.glagla.free.fr/dvdate_en.htm) on my Windows PC to rename files based on the timecode in the DV .avi files. (I used filename template "clip-yyyy-mm-dd+hh;mm;ss.avi" where yyyy-mm-dd is the year/month/date and hh:mm:ss is the time retreived from the actual DV timestamp).
- Moved the files over to my iMac using an external USB drive
- Used Automator to rename the files on the iMac (DVdate does not support a space character in filenames) to the format "clip-yyyy-mm-dd<space>hh;mm;ss.avi".
- Now iMovie uses the real date and time of the recording of the movies, instead of the date/time from the files themselves.
It took some time, but now I'm a happy camper

In case that message disappears, here's my translation:
1. Connect your Apple TV to your computer via USB. Don't plug in the power cable.
2. Download the older 5.0.2 firmware from Apple here:
5.0.2 (Apple TV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (Apple TV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3. Open iTunes and select the Apple TV. Hold down the option key and press the restore button at the same time.
4. In the dialog that opens select the firmware that you downloaded.
5. The restore process will take a few minutes. Once it's done plug your Apple TV back into your TV. If the date and time message persists just press the menu button to skip it. This got mine working again.

How to get MPG into imovie

I have a Sony cyber shot camera with some video on it. Its format is mpg.
imovie will not import mpg. How do I convert it into anything so it can be used?!?!

Download MPEG Streamclip, which is free.
Drag the MPG file into MPEG Streamclip.
Use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec.
Import the resulting file into iMovie using the FILE/IMPORT/FROM FILE menu option.

I had played with the OAMessageChoiceBean component yesterday, but I was able to tell from your instructions that "Picklist Display Attribute" and "Picklist Value Attribute" really are not for binding to the database EO. That was the key piece of information that had me confused.
In addition to adding the messageChoice component to the page, I needed to write some code to synchronize the picklist value with the corresponding code value, which I placed in am OAFormValueBean (hidden form field) which I could then bind to my application's database EO in the controller, running in the processFormRequest procedure:

GET TIME STAMP FIELD time_stamp.
You can try with GET TIME STAMP
But it will be in Different format.

Ned to insert current Date AND Time in a table

This should be a simple one. I need to insert the current (system) date AND time in a columnof a table. From the documentation, it appears that the column datatype should be DATE (at least it claims to be able to support both date and time). It is also claimed that SYSDATE contains the current system date and time. But when I try to insert SYSDATE into a DATE column, all that gets logged is the date (without the time of day).

THere must be some way to instruct the insertion of the time as well. Also, the YY-MMM-DD format is undesirable. I'd prefer "YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS". An attempt to insert TO_DATE(SYSDATE,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS') fails as well.
Any suggestions?

Your NLS_DATE_FORMAT is set to show only the DATE element. If you run this query:
SELECT to_char(curr_date,'HH:MI:SS')
FROM your_table
/You would see that the time element has been populated as well.

Script or operation to split a date and time channel into two channels

Date and time stamp for movie. How?

I need the date of a movie--or clips from movies---made with a Flip camera. How do I get that date to appear on the footage?

I never seen any way to do this in iMovie - any version (may be me to illitterated)
But - I've used a way around - by going via Analog out from Camera (my can show date and time on TV) - then to an A/D-box (I use a Canopus ADVC-300 - now named Grass-Valley ADVC-300) and from this via FireWire to iMovie or FinalCut.
Picture quality is lost this way (can be handled somewhat better in FCE/P) but it works.

How to enter a new Date and Time each day in a Numbers Spreadsheet...

Hi... I have finally decided to move away from Excel and really give Numbers a shot... I have an application where each day I first enter the current date and time into a particular cell of a new row and then I enter some data in cells adjacent (in the same row) as that entered date-time. Then the next day I want to again enter the (new) current date and time and add more data next to that new date-time and so forth day after day... You can't use something as simple as =NOW() because then everyday, ALL of the date-times would change to the current time... Nope, now what I want... I just want to be able to EASILY and QUICKLY enter the current date-time value in one call and then have that specific value stay there forever... In Excel, this is accomplished with the keyboard shortcuts of
<cntl> followed by a semicolon (;) for the date
then enter a single space (for separation of date versus time) followed last by
<command> followed again by a semicolon...
So all together that is,
<cntl><;><sp><command><;>
and that puts something like
4/10/2010 9:49:00 AM
in a single cell...
That's what I now want to be able to do in Numbers...
How do I do that??? Do I use the menubar item "Insert Date and Time" and if so, how exactly do I get the current time to show up in the chosen cell??? With formatting??? Is there a keyboard shortcut method like the one I mentioned that works for Excel?? I've perused the manual and though I found lots on date-time, I didn't see how to do specifically what I want to do... I likely just missed it as surely it must be easy to do...

Hi Pryianka,
Are you speaking about blocked status of material master ('X-plant matl status' > MM03 > Basioc view 1; 'Plant-sp. matl status' > MM03 > MRP 1) or your problem is to find out the date when your material was booked into blocked state (stock category).
If your problem is about mmr you can use the above mentioned MM04 (or MM03 > menu > Environment > Display changes).
If your problem is to find out when your goods were posted to blocked stock you have to use MB51 + relevant movement types (e.g. 103, 344) + batch + etc. ()
