Date creation is different from date photo taken in Finder

Hello,
I didn't know where to post this question. When I import photos from my Canon T3i and my iPhone4, the creation date of the photo is the date imported, not the date I took the photo. While in Finder, if I look at the photo information, the creation date is the date the photo was imported (for both the Canon and iPhone photos). I'm trying to understand why this is happening.  When I import the photos into iPhoto9, the date I took the photo is there. While that seems like the solution, it isn't since I don't import all photos into iPhoto. If I look at the photos on the memory card, the date is correct. The only time the creation date is not correct is when I import on to my iMac or MacBook.
I'm using Snow Leopard and have no plans to upgrade to Lion.
Thanks for your help and I apologize if I posted this question in the wrong discussion group.

Another go at explaining it:
There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider  jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export. However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • Finder date and Iphoto date are very different in some photos

    I run Iphoto 9.6 on OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 with an Imac 27" of mid 2010.
    Some photos have wrong date in Iphoto while the right creation date of these photos are in the finder (exif dates are always correct).
    Because, i have more than four thousand pictures with wrong dates, is there a way to fix that issue easily (by a script or a utility ?). I discover when there is a difference between those two dates, it's always a difference of + 6066 days and 11 hours ??? Like that, some photos appears to be done in 2045 ???
    Some body came help me ?
    Many thanks in avance,

    Poelger,
    thanks for your interest, please let me explain it better.
    I have 2 data blocks. The 1st one is a single record, non-database block, where I input some parameters, and one of these parameters is a date field. This date field will be passed via PL/SQL inside the form to compose the search criteria.
    :BLK_PARAMETER.date_field receives 02/02/2009 as typed by the user, being configured as a field which receives data in date format (dd/mm/yyyy). This date is used inside a form procedure called PRC_SEARCH_CRITERIA, which mounts a variable called p_where. Please consider the code below belongs to PRC_SEARCH_CRITERIA.
    p_where := 'trunc (date_field) = ''' || :BLK_PARAMETER.date_field || '''';
    set_block_property ('BLOCK_BEING_QUERIED', default_where, p_where);
    I ran it on Oracle Debugger and I saw p_where being mounted as:
    trunc (date_field) = '02-FEB-09'
    And, when my form executes an execute_query instruction, it raises FRM-40505 error. I copied this p_where value and tried to run it in Oracle SQL Developer, where the error was the same. When I edited it on SQL Developer, changing this date to '02-FEV-09' (since "february" in english is "fevereiro" in portuguese), my query ran finely. So it seems to me that Oracle Forms and database aren't configured to use the same date format, maybe they're using different language date formats.
    I need to understand this behavior and act so this should not happen again; now I solved this problem in other ways, but 1st of all I would like to understand it better, so I won't repeat it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Franklin

  • How do you edit out the date and time stamp from a photo

    How do you edit out the date and time stamp from a photo

    You can blur it out with retouch
    The built-in "Retouch" brush in "Edit" mode should suffice, if the background is mostly uniform, and if you set the size of the brush to slightly wider than the bar width of the letters. For example, in this picture I removed the year from the date (in the lower right corner) by using the "retouch" brush and following the contours of the letters. (the screen shot is from iPhoto '11, but iPhoto 9 should give similar results).

  • Date format in different from System Preferences

    The date display in the top right corner of the menu bar is not according to the custom setting I have defined in System Preferences.
    In Language & Region, I defined the date format to be <day of month number> < name of month> <year>.
    The menu bar however displays the date in American style date format of <name of month> <day of months number>.
    Is there any way to have Numbers pick up the date format from Language & Region as defined in System Preferences?

  • Filing date of judgement is different from date listed on credit report.

    So first, let me say that my judgement is due to fall off in April of next year.  If it weren't for reading so many success stories and having many of my own (including an early deletion of the last paid collection account on Experian just yesterday) I might be willing to leave well enough alone. The problem is, the paid judgement is the last bad item on my report.  I just called the circuit court where my judgement was filed because the dates seemed off. I have copies of the money orders that I sent to pay the judgement and all of them were AFTER the judgement file date listed on my credit reports.  According to the clerk, my judgement was actually filed on January 12, 2009 not April 16, 2009. My question is, aren't civil judgements supposed to fall of 7 years from the filing date or is this the case of the 7 years 180 days I've heard about?  Did my payments somehow reage the judgement? If the date is indeed wrong, what is my next course of action? If the judgement rightfully is due to fall of January of 2016 I am within the 6 month range for requesting good will early deletion from at least two of the CRA's, correct?   I'd really like to buy a house next year at the best rate possible and my Fico scores are EX 709, TU 719, and EQ 721. I’m hoping this removal will help me get the best rate possible.  Thanks in advance for any insights/ opinions given.

    Thanks for the docketing info! I'll start the ball rolling on that Monday. Regardless, if I can get the dates changed or no,t it's good to know that I have a possiblity of getting early exclusion on judgements as well. From what I read on this forum you can get a judgement vacated if he was improperly served. You can request the service info from the court where the Judgement  was placed. I, like Rebuilding, didn't show up for my court date because I assumed that being in contact and negotaiting payment was all I needed to do and judgement would be thrown out the window. Yeah I know, stupid.  Wow, if my judgement  falling off netted me 66 points I would keel over. It's my last baddie and the only bad thing on all three reports so my fingers are crossed.  Experian is an interesting one. In my case, they seem to hang on to anything and everything. The other CA's dropped most of my stuff a few months early without me even having to request it.  The only thing I had left was the judgement and one collection on Experian.  I called them mid june to ask for early deletion of the collection( 2 months ealy) because I heard they would remove it 3 months early. They turned me down, but I was very polite and thanked them  for their  time when they told me to call back April 1. I called them July 1 and after being transfered once my collection was removd. The phone call took less than 5 minutes.  It was due to fall of August 16 of this year.  The number I called was 1-800-360-7580. Note this account was not my oldest account and it was shown as being in collections so I wasn't in danger of having my Aaofa taking a hit.  Oh, one last thing. I don't think it's odd that one report had collections info that another doesn't. They not only differ in how long they keep stuff( my point about Experian having a collection nobody else had) I also think it depends on who the collector reports the info to I'll update if I get my judgement updated and EE. Otherwise Kaylavaand I will have our judgement removal day party April 16th of next year!

  • Current Date in Debugger different from Current Date in Web-Determinations

    Just today....
    The current date in my laptop is 7/4/2012;
    When I invoke build and restart debugger without screens, I am showing the current date at 7/4/2012
    When I invoke build and restart debugger with screens, the current date is showing as 7/5/2012
    Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
    Thanks,
    Allan

    We are using OPM 10.4
    The project region is US (English)
    It's running on a laptop where the time zone is Pacific Time (US&Canada) - (UTC-8:00)
    For this moment (0740) local, the current date is showing as 7/5 in both debugger with and without screens.
    I will monitor hourly to see if it flips over to tomorrow's date.
    As an aside, I note, on project start-up, it takes 3-4 efforts to deploy to debugger with screens. It seems to time out (error message says "Tomcat embedded web server failed to start after 30 seconds") for the first two or three tries, and then finally loads. I don't recall this experience in prior versions. Any thoughts on that? is there something I should set?
    thanks, will update regularly to see if the date cross-over seems to occur at GMT 1200am.

  • Changing Date Time Original Tag from Date Created Tag

    Hi,
    I need to change programmatically the "Date Time Orignal" tag by copying the "Date Created" Tag so that Media Encoder preserves the date during encoding. I can do this by hand without a problem in Bridget 5.5 but would like to automate it. Can I do this with a script?
    Thanks
    Axel

    I have been als been plagued by LR displaying the capture time to be, say 3 AM (03:00), when I know I took the picture at 1 PM (13:00). I decided to try and see why this happens. With the help of Phil Harvey's exiftool, I can see that my Canon cameras embed the time into the EXIF data without any time zone information i.e.: Date/Time Taken = 2008:04:02 16:09:23.
    Here is what I found:
    If the image is now edited with Bridge, the information is changed to: Date/Time Taken = 2008:04:02 16:09:23-08:00 (time zone of the editing computer for the date the image was made. In this case the date was before daylight savings time started.)
    When edited with GeoSetter (good for adding GPS information) the information is changed to: Date/Time Taken = 2008:04:02 16:09:23+02:00 (time zone for Cairo where the picture was taken.)
    Lastly edited with LR, the information is changed to: Date/Time Taken = 2008:04:02 16:09:23-08:00
    When the above images are viewed in LR, using PDT, they display the time as 17:09:23 except for the image tagged with the Cairo time, which displays 07:09:23. If the computer's time zone is changed the displayed time changes accordingly.
    If the images are displayed with Photoshop CS3 all the times are correctly displayed as 16:09:23 as one would expect.
    It appears that the factoring in of the time zone into the displayed time was a conscious decision by the Adobe designers. A decision that several of us are not happy with.

    Hi,
    Even if I'm using JavaEmbeddedActivity also i'm getting an error. Please have alook at the below code once
    import java.text.DateFormat;
    import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
    import java.util.Date;
    public class ConvertDateToStringExample {
    public static void main(String args[]){

    //to convert Date to String, use format method of SimpleDateFormat class.
    String strDate = dateFormat.format(getVariableData('inputVariable','payload','/client:process/client:Date'));
    System.out.println("Date converted to String: " + strDate);

    Ensure that the class path is set correctly. If this happens on the server side, verify that the custom classes or jars which this BPEL process is depending on are deployed correctly. Also verify that the run time is using the same release/version.

  • BOM "valid from date" in transaction CSKB

    The business process is like this -
    1. We create sales order ( VA01)
    2. In sales order, we enter configurable materials as items.
    3. Then we freeze/change the BOM for sales order and line item through t-code CSKB.
    The problem is in CSKB, "Valid from date" of order BOM components is defaulted using the "required delivery date" in Sales Order. We want to default current date (system date) as the "valid from date". Please suggest how it can be done.
    Regards,
    Bijay

    Shailesh,
    While creating the BOM have you used the change number ...? if yes then display that change number and check wheather do you have any alternative date mention in it.
    check validity date of change number as well as BOM validity.
    another reason can be you need to apply SAP note 1278790.

    Hope it helps you.

  • Extracted from data files

    Hello All,
    DB version: 9i Rel 2
    Which Oracle command line tools allow data to be extracted from data files that are NOT ATTACHED to a database?
    DN

    Oracle Support has a tool called DUL, Data UnLoader, to extract data from data files. They have a nice rate they charge for the service as well. There are other groups that have such tool, and they charge the for the service as well.

  • How to find a selection of photos taken at different dates but imported together. I want them in the same album but they're no longer in the "last import" album.

    I imported a bunch of photos taken at different dates that i wanted to group together in the same album but they are not in the "last import" album and are all just mixed in with "all photos" according to the dates they were taken and it's impossible to sift through them all to select the ones i wanted.

    Sorry I'm terrible at explaining and even using my macbook haha. Let me try again. I imported some photos that I wanted to group together into an album. I forgot to create the album before importing a new set of photos which then took the place of the previous ones in the "last import" album. Is there anywhere or any way I can easily find the selection of photos I forgot to put into an album together without having to select them one by one from the "all photos" section? These would be the only pictures in my Photos application that haven't been organized into an album yet if that helps; however, these photos were not taken on the same date.

    The Finder reports File information. The date and time of the photo are in the Photo's Exif metadata. The Finder has no awareness of this. All photos apps on any system do.
