Hi,
I have an assignment like without using any date functions i should print a calendar.
Below is the code without using any datefunctions like dateadd, datediff, datename a calendar has been generated for month and year entered. I want a week name for the dates like sunday ... monday etc.
I can take any date from calendar as reference and calculate based on that date.
ex: today is 2/20/2014 thursday . Next 7days again will be thursday, same way before 7days will be thursday.

Use a Parameter or Formula in the Date() function

I am trying to filter a result set utilizing the Date() function. I am trying to get all of the data between June 1st of a given year, and a parameterized date. Here is the formula
{ReportStatic.rpsActualSaleDate} >= Date({@fPrevioustoLastYear}, 7, 1)
and {ReportStatic.rpsActualSaleDate} < DateAdd("yyyy", -2, {?pDateEnd})
and {ReportStatic.rpsSaleStatus} = 1
The value of fPrevioustoLastYear is '2008'
The report is returning 0 records. I think it is because the Date() function isn't recognizing the formula (fPrevioustoLastYear) as a valid input. However when I "Save and close" the formula editor doesn't find any problems with the formula.
What should I be doing differently?

If {@fPreviousToLastYear} is in fact 2008, I don't see an issue (with the possible exception that it should be a number, not a string; convert with CInt()). Please post your formula for that field.
Also, I have to ask what the value of {?pDateEnd} is. If it's like today, no records will fit the criteria because you'd be checking if the date was between 7/1/2008 and 3/29/2008 (you're subtracting 2 years from the parameter), which is a null set.

Ago and To Date Functions together

Hi here is my requirement, i wanted to create a column which captures previous year's Period to date.
Period To Date gives value from 1st of this Period to today's date for present year 2012, but i want to capture the values from starting date of Period to today's date but for previous year 2011.
If for example : Period 1 of 2012, prior period would be Period 1 of 2011
I am assuming this logic will work,
First i will capture Period To Date by using (To date function), and then use AGO function where Time Offset = Period and Number of Periods = 12.
Please find the below function i used.

Try this.
Instead of using 2 time series functions in one columns create separate columns
ex:
1. Create Prior YTD as :ToDate("Core"."Fact - Sales - Invoice Line"."Net Invoiced Amount" , "Core"."Date"."Enterprise Period" )
2. Now create Ago column as : Ago (Prior YTD, "Core"."Date"."Enterprise Period" , 12)

Let us say today is 23rd of Jun 2009
I want a date function to get previous Thursday 18 Jun 2009
and another function which get 7 days before which is Friday 12 Jun 2009.
FYI: For the current week, I was able to use:

No, not separate functions, but you can tweak next_day to get what you want:
select trunc(sysdate) today,

Date function problems with dates from core not recognized as dates

Our core provides dates in two formats: YYYYDDD and MMDDYY (YYYYDDD for today [2/21/12] would be 2012052). We have determined that Crystal Reports is not viewing them as dates, but rather numbers. If querying on just a specific date, no problem. But if I want to use a date function like DayOfWeek, then things don't work.
I need a report to always provide yesterday's data - except on Monday, where it needs to look back at Friday.
I tried a criteria of:
if DayOfWeek(CurrentDate) = 1 then {DDMAST.DATOP7} = CurrentDate - 2 else
if DayOfWeek(CurrentDate) = 2 then {DDMAST.DATOP7} = CurrentDate - 3 else
{DDMAST.DATOP7} = CurrentDate -1
{DDMAST.DATOP7} is the date field from our core.
I tried this but got an error message of "A Number is Required Here" and it highlights the CurrentDate - 2.
Since we believe that Crystal Report is not viewing our dates as dates - but viewing them as numbers, what do I need to do to correct this? Someone suggested I'd need to extract each date portion (month, date, and year) and create variables to "build" a date that Crystal Reports would understand. Any suggestions?

You're correct. There appears to be two branches in this thread.
To address your issue, Crystal only recognizes actual date types, ie. Months, Days and Years. Your serial date isn't a recognized date type so we have to:
1) Determine which format your date field is
2) Convert your number to a date using the appropriate formatting.
I am assuming your dates will either be 6 (MMddyy) or 7 (yyyyddd) characters long. If there are other patterns you'll need to determine that.
The problem I found is what does your date for today (March 6, 2012) look like in MMddyy format?
Any month before October would never have a leading 0 if your date is stored as a number. So you should take that into account as well using my logic.
I added that into the logic by checking for a length of 5.

Error 91 - Trying to Use the Variant to Data Function

I am running into a problem when trying to use variants in my application. I have a state machine set-up in that one state creates a task list (cluster of arrays) and then converts it to variant. The variant is fed into a shift register that allows me to access the task list from a different state.
The problem comes when I try to use the Variant to Data function. I right click on the task cluster to create a constant, and then wire that to the TYPE terminal of the Variant to Data Function. I wire the task cluster variant to the VARIANT terminal. When I run the VI, i get error 91: Possible reason(s): LabVIEW: The data type of the variant is not compatible with the data type wired to the type input.".
How can I get this error when the type I wired to the TYPE terminal of the Variant to Data terminal is a constant created from the exact type created a variant from???

Dashboard when published to BW, date functions always show published date

Xcelsius dashboard when published to BW at a particular date, the date functions(like Today(), now()) used at spreadsheet generates published date irrespective of time or date the dashboard is previewed....Could anyone help me out what actually .XLF gets stored in BW....does these functions stores a static value when published?

To confirm, you're saying that you're saving a swf (falsh file) to BW and when it's opened by a user in a browser, it doesn't show the most recent date?
In the current version, the Now() function will be calculated at the time the dashboard is opened. Each time you open the swf file you will see the current day/time.
You mention the xlf file. The date stored in this has nothing to do with what is viewed in the swf file (if you're in BI4.0 then the xlf and swf are stored in the same object on the server).

Data Federator Universe Date Functions

I created a Data Federator Universe from target tables (Source Tables from: Sql Server 2005 and Oracle 10g). Now, I want to create a object in the universe: "Days between 2 dates"(coming from 2 different target tables). I don't see any other date functions other than CURDATE(). How to create my object?
Alternatively, Can I create a caliculated column in the existing target table? For Example, I want to create a new column "Days between 2 Dates" from 2 different tables by using a formula in Default mapping of the target table.

Ok. So, Universe on top of Data Federator has limited functionality.
And, other option you mentioned is on report level. I am creating an adhoc universe and I have few objects which will calculate days between 2 dates coming from 2 different tables.
But, how can I achieve this on Data Federator level. I have no function there to find Days Between 2 dates. I see lot of time and date functions but not the one I required. Also, I added a column in the target table and tried to apply the formula there in the default mapping area. But, I see only the selected target table. I need another date column from another table, which is not displayed in the default mapping area.
How can I achieve this?

Date function doesn't work in Message Subject when scheduling batch

When I was scheduling a batch and went to PDF attached E-Mail panel, in the Message Subject line I added a function <<Date(yyyy-MM-dd)>>,but when the email was sent, the date function in the subject didn't show the actual date, just showed the original function text <<Date(yyyy-MM-dd)>>, Is there anyone can help on this? Date Functions( first day of a month that is 3 months from now....)

I have recently written my first stored procedure.
Its rather a bunch of SQL statements.
I had to hard code lot of dates. most of them are first day of the current monthe or last day of current month etc.
I thot of parametrizing all the dates, but if a business person has to include all the parameters they could go wrong and get the wrong results.
Now, I want to use date functions to achieve these requirements:
Can any one please throw some insght into this:....
1) First day of current month,
2) last day of current month.
3) first day of previious month
4) last day of previous month
5) first day of a month that is 3 months from now.
6) last day of a month that is 3 months from now.
7).....
Can any one please throw some light on any one of this.. I can try to work from there onwards ....

Default posting date as 'Today Date' while executing CAT5 to transfer hours

Hi Experts,
I want to schedule a job in background to execute CAT5 automatically but system should consider posting date as 'as on date'/ 'Current date' for transferring the all hours into project otherwise it throws an error 'Posting period is not open'.
So please let me know, how can I configure the system so that it should consider posting date as 'Today Date' by default while executing CAT5 in both cases whether manually or automatically.

Problem overloading "set data" function on Button DataGrid Renderer

Hi all, I'm hoping this is something simple.
I have a class that extends mx.controls.Button and implements mx.core.IDataRenderer. I need to set the button icon whenever the Data property is set from the DataGrid. My problem is that my overloaded set/get Data function are never called (I've stepped through the code in debug). Instead the set/get functions in Container.as (Flex 3.4 SDK) get called.
Here's the basics code:

That's because you put your component in a Box. The DataGrid is setting the Box's .data property and no code is setting the one on your component. You shouldn't really need Box. You can override updateDisplayList to center your Button instead.

Help with Date function in sql query....

My question I guess is really 2...I'm trying to use the date function as a comparison in my WHERE clause in my sql command.
1. My date format is dd-MMM-yy eg. (01-Apr-06) ... my problem is the Apr is lower case where my field in the database is 01-APR-06 so when I compare 01-Apr-06 to 01-APR-06 is doesnt find any rows. Is there away that I can make the Apr all upper case so that it is APR.
2. My second problem is getting this "date" field to work in my sql stmt I keep getting errors and it works fine if I take my attempts at trying to compare the date.

There are sql functions upper & lower.
SELECT name FROM table where upper(rdate) = '01-APR-06' order by name Or you could convert the date to a string, and use the toUpperCase & toLowerCase java.lang.String methods. It doesn't make much of a difference--do you want the java compiler to do the string conversion or the database?

Did you not see my answer for CASE because CASE does indeed offer the use of the BETWEEN clause, but DECODE does not. Let me give you a little synopsis of DECODE.
In its most simple form it takes 4 values and looks like this: DECODE(A, B, C, D)
This essentially means, IF A = B THEN C ELSE D
The trick to solving BETWEEN in a DECODE is to work out algoriths where A = B. Because we don't know how many values are between 00 and 99, although I could guess there were 100 we could of course have 100 parts in the DECODE but that would be awful. How about if we look at it another way and say this:
IF PART_NUMBER < 'SDK00' THEN pay_amount
ELSE IF PART_NUMBER > 'SDK99' THEN pay_AMOUNT
ELSE pay_amount + 100
This statement only had 2 hard coded values, but how to make DECODE work with less than? Easy, we use the LEAST function. The LEAST function takes 2 values and returns the one with the lowest value. So I use LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00') then whenever the PART_NUMBER is lower than SDK00 it will be true. A similar situation exists for the opposite function GREATEST. Putting all of this together then, you can do this:
DECODE(PART_NUMBER, GREATEST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00'), DECODE(PART_NUMBER, LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK99'), PAY_AMOUNT * 100, PAY_AMOUNT), PAY_AMOUNT)
In English this can be read as follows:
IF the PART_NUMBER is greater than or equal to SDK00 and the PART_NUMBER is less than or equal to SDK99 THEN PAY_AMOUNT x 100 ELSE 0
