Date Labels in Keynote compared to Power Point

I am used to Power Point where when I create a that has dates on the X axis I can have the labels shown for each 1 year or each 1 week. In Keynote, it seems like I can only either auto select or select each "x" categories. This is OK except when there are 366 days in a year or you want to do one label for each quarter and there are differing number of days in a quarter. Any thoughts other than deleting the date labels except the ones I want to use?

PowerPoint does not have a "slideshow recording" feature, therefore the recorded sound can't be included.
You would need to record a separate narration using Quicktime, then use PowerPoint or Libra Office to add the sound to the PowerPoint file.
Libra is an open source freeware application and can be downloaded from their website.

  • Can I save a keynote presentation in Power Point and then use the power point on my Macbook?

My library has a Toshiba TW 650 projector that is used by PCs. I am going to be giving a presentation created on Keynote.
My DVI-VGA connector did not work for my 2009 Macbook to the projector. Can I sve the Keynote presentation to power point and then
show the presentation on a PC with the Power Point version?

    Hello redffox,
You can export the project to a .PPT file as outlined here: Keynote '09: Creating a PowerPoint slideshow http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3698
    To create a PowerPoint slideshow:
Choose Share > Export, click PPT (PowerPoint) and then click Next.
Type a name and choose a location for the file, and then click Export.
    Additional Information
Note: PowerPoint doesn’t support some Keynote features:
Some bulleted text items may be lost. If you hide the bulleted text on a slide (by deselecting Body in the Slide inspector), it is deleted from the outline when you export.
PowerPoint doesn’t support alpha-channel graphics, so if you use a photo cutout frame, the image behind it will appear in front. You may also notice slight variations in other graphics.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • How can i transfer my keynote to Microsoft power point without compromising the narration?

After exporting a presentation to Microsoft the narration doesnt carry over.

The narration is deliberately removed by Keynote when exporting as it is incompatible with PowerPoint.
You would need to use the Record Audio function within PowerPoint application to add a voice over to the whole presentation.

  • Exporting to power point -- won't play some animations/.mov files

I had to export a keynote presentation to power point for a co worker.
When I open the file on a PC, I get a message saying that "PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects in the file because they have become corrupted. Affected slides have been replaced by blank slides in the presentation and it is not possible to recover the lost information." There is only one slide that has been unaffected -- one or two have the barest text in them, and that's only partial. The rest are completely blank.
In addition, the export created a folder with some .mov files in it. I'm guessing that at least some of these files are for an animation in the slides.
Can anyone tell me what is going on -- has anyone else gotten this message? It's PowerPoint 2007 if that makes any difference.

To begin with, exporting KN to PP, or vice-versa, often results in an inexact translation. Sometimes there is no noticable difference, but there are often problems, ranging from small to insoluble, for any number of reasons. In addition, even with the same app, PP, for instance, one on a Mac and the other on a PC, going from one OS to another sometimes results in problems. And finally, just plain transporting a presentation from one machine to another, even with the same OS, can be a problem.
It seems you have at least two problems, which should be tackled in order, and the first one is KN to PP on your Mac. Does this play fine, or are there problems? This must be answered and resolved, if possible, before going on to the PP/Mac > PP/Windows or transport part.

  • Magic Move on Power Point?

Does the Magic Move feature on Keynote work on Power Point? I am going to get the Trial for 1 school project and i wanted to use Keynote because of its cool Magic Move feature (and a couple other stuff) but i have to present it useing PP and i dont want to waste my time if it wont work...

Generally, if the presentation will be shown in PowerPoint, it is best to do the project in PowerPoint. There are a lot of Keynote features that PowerPoint doesn't support, and conversion from KN to PP often requires a lot of cleanup.

  • New to apple and wondering if using keynote is easier than power point.

    Hello all,
I have only been using os x for about 6 months, and I was wondering if using keynote is easier than power point? I am in school so I need to know if keynote will save in ppt format. The school that I go to only uses MS office 97 to 2004 format for all docs and power points. Is using keynote that much different?

i find keynote MUCH easier in almost all areas. it did take me a little learning in the beginning. the main thing to know is that apple uses a floating pallet call "inspector" to control just about all the details of the presentation. they also have a "formatting bar" which is conceptually similar to the formatting bars microsoft uses in the previous versions of office (font size, etc...).
the basic entry for slides is the same, where one just types into the fields on the slides. what i find much better is the control i have in the "inspector" to fine tune anything. i've gotten completely dependent on keynotes "staging" which is how one makes the slides animate. if i have a series of bullets and a diagram, i use the staging to get the diagram to be revealed in stages and to get the bullets appear one at a time in sync with the diagram i'm explaining. nothing is more boring for an audience to have someone just stand up, thru up a slide with 100 words and read the text bullets.
i find keynote to be much easier to develop diagrams or to copy and paste in a PDF picture. then add the staging effects i need to develop the story to explain the diagram or picture. it does take a little learning how to do it the first couple times. but the interface is consistent and it's not hard to learn it.
the only aspect i find a little easier in powerpoint is the indenting style, which is controlled in one of the editing buttons in office 11 and before. keynote controls the indenting from the "inspector" instead of having a little button in the formatting bar. but in every other way, i find keynote to be MUCH easier to use. and it has other features that powerpoint doesn't have. plus iwork is very inexpensive compared to microsoft office. finally, if you are near an apple store, they have free seminars on iWork fairly often. the 1st time i used keynote, i went to the apple store workshop and got a few answers. just see how easy it is to get person to person help for microsoft office...
the only other game in town are the various releases of the open source programs, "open office" and "neo office". they are free, also read and write ppt files, but are a little harder to use than keynote and don't have as many features.
    anyway, that's my experience.
    good luck!

  • How do I filter on multiple values / labels within a Pivot Table which points to a Power Pivot Model

    Hi,
How do I filter on multiple values / labels within a large data set within a Pivot Table which points to a Power Pivot Model. I am current using Excel 2010 64 bit. I intend to empower users to achieve this by simply using the Excel user interface, not by
using Excel formula or DAX. Please find the attached screen shot as a worked example, also in my real life example not all the values are available in the drop down. You can't use a slicer for the same reason as you can't use a drop down. I guess what I was
hoping for is for the user to be able to enter AND or OR within the associated dialog box. Is there any way around this?
    Kind Regards,
    Kieran.

  • Need to play Power Point Presentation with Audio in Keynote

My wife and I have lots of Power Point slide shows with audio from the days when we were windows users. We have downloaded a trial version of iWork 09 and would like to know how we can play these .pps files that contain audio in Keynote.
We appreciate any help that anyone could provide as we would much prefer to use Keynote/iWork than MS Office.

That's interesting about NeoOffice. I keep a copy of it up to date but don't use it too often.
This may be too involved for the OP but I would play the file in NeoOffice and record the audio with WIreTap or similar, export it as an MP3 file and then import it into Keynote.
WIreTap can have its input source set to Mac Audio so that it will record from any application that is capable of producing sound.

  • Paste Data Point to Power Point

Is there a way to force the "paste data point" area to conform only to the size (auto-size if you will) of the power point slide? I am pasting a data point from Excel and it always carries the data columns way off the screen, making the process of alignment very work-intensive. Thoughts or workarounds?
I tried using the Power Point "Group" function, and then resizing the group. This works, however, you cannot retrieve after grouping the data points. :(

As I see you are using LV in a wrong way. Why don't you run the DAQ tasks in independent while loops? You could use the same Queue, and you can add time stamps to every data package (or also a label to show the source) created in the several Producer loops. In your single Consumer loop you can just decide what to do with the data depending on the label (save to File,etc...).
Other big problem: do not use DAQ Assistant! It is OK for quick testing, but not for real application! These Express VIs initializes and closes your hardware at EVERY while loop iteration.
You should use proper DAQmx VIs: initialize your HW resources BEFORE the while loop, do your DAQ inside the loop, and close HW components when you stop the application.
There are many examples shipped with LabVIEW, have a look how to use DAQmx VIs. Also, this way you avoid the silly dynamic data wires...Much easier to live with Double arrays

  • I am trying to sync power point in keynote

I puta ppt into keynote-when I hit +  in keynote it appears but is not available (grayed out) I cannot sync power point to keynote in my ipad.
I tried emailing it to myself but keynote did not appear as an option to send to.
    Any ideas out there.

Throw it onto iCloud. Www.icloud.com. Then hit iWork and keynote is an option. Drag the PPT into there. Then it should appear on your iPad. Just make sure in iPad settings that your logged into iCloud and you have documents and data ON.

  • Can I show a data label for only one point in a series?

Forgive a newbie question from an Excel convert, but can I show a value label for only one point in a data series? If yes, how?
There are a number of graphs where I only want to value of either an extreme value or the ending value to show. Having all the labels in a series makes the chart too busy. This is pretty easy to do in Excel.
If this can't be done, I guess that adding a text box over those points would work.
    Thanks

Sure. Here's and example labeling only the MIN and MAX points.
Column B contains the data charted with the blue line.
Column C extracts the MIN and MAX values using the formula below. Those two values are charted as a separate series, using the green data point markers, and are labeled with their values. The intervening empty string values appear to have doused the lines connecting the two data points.
    Formula: =IF(OR(B=MAX(B),B=MIN(B)),B,"")

  • Keynote data labels, can I show category names instead of data values?

I'd like to recreate the chart below in Keynote. The chart below is an excel line chart with the lines removed. In excel I can opt to show category names instead of values for the data labels. Can I do this in Keynote?

You can select member name or alias or both in the Dimension property while creating the form.
It is in the same window as explained earlier, you need to just select both the Member and its Aliase to be displayed on the form.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • Failed to Import Power Point files (.ppt and .pptx) to my iPad/Keynote via iTunes

I want to import my Power Point files (.ppt and .pptx) to my iPad via iTunes. I open ppt file in iTunes keynote file sharing than I run keynote and select copy file from iTunes. But it will jump to the home screen half way through and keynote close

I have already downloaded the Keynote app on my iphone and I see that Keynote will open PP files.  How do I get my PP files, which are on my PC (Windows 7) accessable by my iphone?  Looks like I can copy them to my icloud but I'm unable to determine how to get to my icloud file (I have created one through my iphone).  Thanks.

  • RE:  Keynote to Power Point; timing off

I created a file in KEYNOTE with multiple transitions on the BULLET POINTS. When I EXPORTED to POWER POINT then sent to my client the transition timing was off. For example, a TWO SECOND DISSOLVE translated into 1/2 SECOND. Is this a systemic problem with KEYNOTE?
    Thanks, Andy

  • How to import power point sound on keynote ?

how can I import power point diaporamas with the sound on keynote ?

Sorry, Adobe Reader only reads PDF files, not PowerPoint files.
However, if you bought Keynote for about US $9.99 in the App Store, you could open PowerPoint files.
