Date Modified in Finder does not update immediately

I am finding that the Date Modified value takes several minutes to update in my Finder window when I've modified, saved and closed a particular file. Is there any particular reason for Finder not reflecting the the modified value immediately or any steps I can take to remedy this?

I'm not 100% sure but when the finder window was constantly on the focus of the folder that contained the file in question, that's when the date would take time to update. However, since changing my workflow slightly, I now have several finder tabs open and I've found it changes immediately; or at least, it's updated as my focus has moved to another tab and then back to the tab containing the folder. Need more observation to confirm this though.

  • Bug: date inserted in cell does not update automatically

Can't find where to report a bug in Numbers. When I insert a date in a cell and set it to update automatically, it does not update. Have to update it manually daily. Seems there used to be a way to report bugs...
Anyone know how to do that now?

    Feature already reported.
    +The Numbers User Guide states:+
+To add and format the date and time, place the insertion point where you want the value to appear, and then choose Insert > Date & Time.+
+To change the date and time format, Control-click the date and time value, choose Edit Date & Time, and then choose a date and time format from the pop-up menu. If you want the spreadsheet to always show the current date and time, select “Automatically update on open.”+
    +Alas, under 10.4.11 *(and now under 10.6.1)* this feature doesn't apply.+
+The date remains as it was when we entered it.+
    +Happily we have a simple workaround:+
+we may use the formula =TODAY()+
+But a feature wihch doesn't behave as described may be called a buggy one. Isn't it ?+
As long as the feature doesn't behave as described, use the given workaround.

Is it a normal behavior? I suspect a defect in stream.exe.

    Hi,
This depends on that if the stream.exe contains the related code like SetFileTime when play the deleting action.
    SetFileTime function
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724933(v=vs.85).aspx
So we may need your resource code about de of stream.exe to determine the issue.

  • E52 Date Display does not update and reflect the c...

Right from day 1 the display date of my E52 does not update and reflect correct the correct date. Got the phone replaced once still the same issue. Called the customer service and they say there is no such problem with E52. They asked me to go to the repair center...(isnt that ridiculous to ask a customer of a new phone to do so?). I went to the repair center with a hope that they will replace it for me but all in vain. They also gave me a ridiculous answer that Nokia does not have a replacement policy...and I was like so is it Nokia's policy to sell broken and faulty mobiles? I was utterly dejected. The electronic store where I bought also refuse to replace because they think there is a problem and no matter I get it changed it will recur. I still do not have a solution as all my ways of getting this problem resolved are exhausted. Anyone has a solution or came across this issue which can be solved without repairing?

Ok let me state my problem. There is a date display and at midnight the date should automatically change to the next date. However that does not happen. The dealer makes the following changes Control Panel>Settings>General>Date and time> Automatic time update> On and this does not solve the problem. Then I get the mobile replaced and that too has the same problem. after going through all permutations and combinations the problem persists. To quote the email from the Contact center for Nokia in HK this was what was suggested
    Menu→Ctrl. panel→Settings→General→Date and time→Time zone→please select Hong Kong→Automatic time update→please select Off
However, if the situation still occurred by following the above settings, please be advised to bring your Nokia E52 along with the valid sales invoice to one of our Hong Kong Nokia Care Centres for the handset checking since we do not have such arrangement of replacing a new phone to you.
    Please help!!!

  • On my MacBook with Lion Safari does start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library did not help. Where can I find and remove all components (LastSession ...)?

How can I reset Safari with all components? On my MacBook with Lion, Safari does not start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library does not help. Where can I find and remove all components as LastSession and TopSites?

The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Finder does not show new files with older creation dates

Short story: when I somehow create new files or folders with older dates, Finder does not show them.
This happens e.g. when I unrar archives created some time ago: the files or folders coming out of the archive get their original date, which is earlier than today.
I can see those files and folders without problems in a terminal (using ls). But they don't show up in Finder when I visit the same directory.
When I use terminal to go into some directory that is not yet visible in Finder, and I open a new Finder window for that directory from within terminal (using "open ."), the new directory and its contents will show up in Finder.
My best guess is that some things have changed in the way Finder and the indexing of my flle system co-operate. In any case, this is higly annoying.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    OS X Yosemite 10.10 (14A389)
    Macbook Air - 13 Inch - Mid 2013

I have the same problem.  I create files and they do not show up in their respective Finder window.  I know the files are there because I created them and I can see them using Terminal and applications can open them.  If I refresh the window by going to the parent directory and back again, the files do not show up.  If I close all windows and open that specific  window again, the files still do not show up.  If I leave the computer overnight, the new files still do not show up.  As brdsutte stated, after rebooting the computer, the files show up in the Finder window.  Anyone have any suggestions?

  • HT5824 my contact list does not update to its current state. After I sync to Itunes or after I back up to I cloud  Also I did a doccuments and data restore and it still didnt change. How do I fix this?

My contact list does not update to its current state after I sync it to itunes or back it up to icloud  I did a documents and data reset and the contact list still didnt change.. How do I fix this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • Mobile.me Calendar does not update/sync on iPhone

Since I did my upgrade to the new version of Mobile.me Calendar (as requested by Apple!), my iPhone no longer shows entries that I have typed into the Mobile.me Calender website. I no longer use iCal because Apple said it would not work with the new version of Calendar on Mobile.me, so I did the upgrade to stay in sync with calendars on my mobile.me site and iPhone, but the iPhone does not update. I deleted my calendar entries on my iPhone hoping that the Mobile.me would re-sync the data, but that didn't happen either. Here is my info:
iPhone version 3.1.3(7E18)   Model MA712LL (first original iPhone)
What else can I tell you to help me please?

Please always post your System details when you have a question. The upgrade to the new MobileMe calendar produces different results, and different problems, with different versions of OSX.
Snow Leopard: during the upgrade process your iCal calendars should be moved to MobileMe (this can take some time and you have to wait for it to happen). Once done, your iCal reads the calendars from MobileMe so any changes made in either place will be visible immediately. If this has not happened then this Apple Tech Note provides instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3397
Leopard: when the upgrade is completed iCal on Leopard will not be able to see the MobileMe calendars until an additional process is carried out, detailed in this Apple Tech Note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4330
Tiger: iCal on Tiger cannot read the MobileMe calendars, period. The only workaround is to upgrade to Leopard, or Snow Leopard if possible (Intel Mac required).

  • Bug:  Histogram Does Not Update when Using Painting Tools

I was investigating something else, and I saw something not working...  I'm under the distinct impression that the Histogram panel should automatically update after every operation.  Having the Histogram panel displayed full-time on the screen, it should always be up to date.
However, when I Dodge or Burn or even paint color on an image, the Histogram is not updating.
If I select one of the History states I've just created, it updates.
Consider this simple sequence of operations:
I'm able to reproduce this failure in Photoshop CS5 as well, BUT NOT IN CS4 (it updates in Photoshop CS4 after every painting operation), so clearly it's not a new bug, though somehow I've managed not to notice it in my years of using Photoshop CS5.
Is it broken like this for everyone in Photoshop CS5 and 6?
Could this be some twisted attempt to try to optimize painting performance?  If so, why isn't there an option to allow a user to request it to update on every operation on a fast computer with cores out the wazoo?
    -Noel

    More info:
Just poking around in Photoshop CS6 to see what, if anything would make the Histogram display update...
Even though the Refresh icon is disabled (and the "Uncached Refresh" entry in the fly-out menu is grayed-out), double-clicking in the topmost histogram display will force it to update (as described above by Conroy in post #1 above).
If I change the selection Channel field in the Histogram panel, mostly it does not update, but when I change between some of the settings - for example between RGB and Luminosity - the graphs update.  Amazingly they revert back to the un-updated state if I switch the channel BACK to what it was!
Making a selection DOES cause it to update.
Choosing Select - Color Range (just starting the function) DOES cause it to update.
Hitting the quick mask mode button DOES cause it to update. Notably Edit in Quick Mask Mode is in the Select menu.  Could an association with Select be a clue?
This bug is easy to reproduce, is shown to be a problem across multiple versions and multiple OSs, and in at least one case (Photoshop CS4 x64 on Windows 7 x64 here) it can be shown to work properly, so the code is probably not far off being right.  Seems to me this should be the kind of thing a junior engineer could find and fix so someone, say,  at Chris Cox's level could have it done before 5 today...

  • Clicking update opens apps, but does not update them

When I click "update" in the app store, the app that should update opens, but does not update.
DEVICE: I am using an ipad mini with iOS 7.0.6 and 5.6 GB of storage available.  I don't have any kind of app manager apps or anything like that.
    THINGS I HAVE TRIED:
    rebooting
    closing all apps and rebooting
signing out of app store, closing all apps, rebooting, and signing back in to app store
deleting apps to create more space
changed app store settings to update automatically

Here's a link to a thread that solved the problem for me:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12552345&#12552345
The culprit was that the Flash plugin needed updating for FF. That was it.
Go to Firefox; Preferences; General (tab); Add-ons; Manage Add-ons; Plugins.
I clicked on Find Updates and immediately updated the Flash plugin.
    Hope this helps others.

  • The tab bar in Safari does not update automatically

    Hello,
I have a strange problem with Safari full screen mode and the tab bar always displayed, it does "not update" alone. In fact when I, for example, two tabs and I created a third (by clicking a link) it does not appear immediately. I have to either click on the tab bar and pretend to move one, either click the "Naviagtion tabs" for bar tabs emtte update.
    A little heavy, huh?
All my software are up to date and even reinstalled recently, but the problem is still present.

[Manually manage music and videos] is checked. And, this is the only Mac I have ever used to add music to my phone.
Also, just updated the phone's software today, and iTunes' software is already up to date.

    Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.
